Can Apple TV connect to two different Macs (iTune Libraries)?

My wife and I each have our own MacBook and our own separate iTune Libraries. How do we both connect to our only Apple TV. Currently, it appears that only one of our Macs iTune Libraries can connect.

You can't use home sharing to put music on your mobile devices from your iTunes library, you will need to sync them.

Can I use Time Machine on two different Macs to back up to one external drive?
I have one 1T Western Digital backup drive that works well with Time Machine and my MacBook Pro.  I now want to back up my wife's MacBook Air using Time Machine on her Mac and want to know if I can use the same WD external drive or if I need to get a 2nd back up drive?  If I can use one external drive for the two Macs do I need to do something special on the drive or will Time Machine do it automatically?

Yes. You will need to configure Time Machine preferences on each computer to backup to the same drive. Note that you cannot connect the backup drive to both machines at the same time.

  • Time Machine to Backup two different mac computers on a single firewire 500

I have a new generation MacBook and iMacG5 and a single Maxtor 500 GB external hard drive which has two firewire inputs. I connexted both macs by firewire to this external hard drive. I used Time Machine on both computers which are on at the same time. However I can see Time Machine works well on one mac - where I can see each hourly backup but the other mac backups don't show up. I called Tech support and was told that I cannot have both macs on at the same time accessing the same external hard drive. I see two different files for each computer's backup so why can't both computers be running Time Machine at the same time?
So...I thought I should buy the new Time Capsule 1 TB BUT I worry the same access issues will occur. How does the Time Capsule drive wirelessly operate with two macs simultaneously when I was told that Time Machine would not operate via firewire with multiple computers on a single drive.
Any suggestions...are the Tech Support folks incorrect about using Time Machine with firewire access simultaneously with two different macs?

What you cannot do is connect two computers to a single FW drive enclosure at the same time. You can connect the drive to each computer separately. Time Capsule functions as a network drive thus any machine on the network can access the shared network drive. This is not the same as using an external FW drive.
If you want to use your single FW drive to backup two computers, I suggest you first partition the drive into two equal partitions. Use one partition for the TM backup of one computer, and the other partition as the TM backup for the second computer. However, you will need to physically move the drive from one computer to the other in order to perform backups.
Alternatively, if you have a local network set up you can physically connect the drive to one computer, then set up file sharing so that the other computer can mount the shared drive and use it for backup via the Ethernet network (or wireless if it's a wireless setup.) Unfortunately, I'm not positive this will work because TM is known to have some problems backing up to network devices although it is supposed to be able to backup to network drives.
Nevertheless, you should set up two partitions on the drive for each computer in order to keep the backups separate.

  • How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini

How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini?
On my PC I simply have a master return email address and use a POP for the secondary address.  Both are through the one exchange account without a problem.  I need to be able to do the same on my Ipad.

Ah, I should have made that clear.  My domain didn't come from google.  It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail.  I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such).  Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender.  I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

  • JDBC connection to two different machines from the same program

I want to use JDBC to connect to two different databases that are on two different MySQL installations on two different machines.
One of the installations is MySQL 4.1.12 and the other is 4.1.14-nt
For some reason, all my statements seem to be going only to one machine, even though I am very clearly set it up to go to two different machines.
Does anyone know whether connecting to two different installations from one program presents any unusual problems?
    Thanks.

Unless there is some horrible defect in the MySQL JDBC driver (which I doubt!), there should be no problem and like the other poster says, please post snippits of your code so we can see what your doing...

  • Syncing two iphoto libraries on two different macs

    Hey
Can't seem to find an answer to this one so here goes. I am trying to sync my iphoto libraries that I have on two different macs of mine. One a mac pro and one a macbook. Both are running 10.5.7 and iphoto 8 with all the updates. I have sharing on enabled on both macs and in iphoto. I can do a manual drag and drop but I have 1000's of photos and that would take way to long to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Thanks

Use iPhoto Library Manager to move Events/Albums/Pics plus associated metadata between Libraries.
    Regards

  • How can I use music from two different iTunes accounts?

how can I use music from two different iTunes accounts?

If you mean iTunes Store accounts, there's really nothing for you to do. Just add the tracks to the iTunes library and play them. Music purchased prior to late-2009 will been to be authorized, though. Pull down Store > Authorize... and type the credentials of the Apple ID used to buy the tracks.
If you mean something else, please describe in more detail.

  • Connecting to two different SQLServers present on different Locations

    Hi,
How can i connect to two different SQL Servers which are at different locations in the same session? IS there any way to do this without disconnecting from the first server?
    cheers,
    Sachin

    Well,
actually my problem is that im reading Database
e Properties through a file which contains multiple
database entries. And i have only one Connection
Object so if im logged into one ex SQLServer in
London, I have a class which will allow me to loginto
another database SQL Server at New York. Now how do i
keep my connection as well as connect to New York
Database Server with the same Connection Object. If
possible, I need to logoff from the Server at London.
How do i do this? Any Ideas?Redesign. You have a connection object that can only have one connection. Either you have to close that connection and reconnect to the other one, or you need two of them. Those are your choices.

  • Is it possible to edit my website  with web '08 from two different Macs?

Is it possible to work on iWeb on two different MACS?
I've attempted to move my domain.Site folder from my laptop and place it on my Power PC in the iWeb folder, but I continue to receive a familiar error message can't read the Domain.Site.
    Does anyone have any answers?
    Both are running iweb 08'

You could make the file available for download via your public folder and when one user updates it they could change the title to include the date of editing and upload it back to the Public folder and delete the original file. . To do that you'd want to archive (zip) the file (control-click on the file and select "Make archive of file xxxx" so it would upload without problems. Not as convenient but doable. You would just have to make sure to identify the date of editing so there would be no problem.

junked old macbook for a new one. changed apple id password from a different mac. i want to login and it asks for name and password. no matter what i type i cant seem to login. why cant i just enter my apple id and password. or is there a way to change whatever name and password are on the new one from another mac so i can login. anything helps...thanks

Just open System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock the preference pane with your root password.
Set the New Account to be an Administrator and fill in the rest of the data and then click "Create User".
I would suggest using this user to be YOU with admin capabilities. I wouldn't use the root user - too much damage could occur if you're not sure what you're doing. If you have files, etc., that you want to move to this account, simply but them in the Shared folder - or if you 'rescued' some old files and the like from your 'trashed' MBP, you can put them in your NEW admin account folders.
Hope I've explained myself well - call back with any questions!
