1) Can armatures be made into nested animation (symbol/movies)?
I made a dragon character and animated the body with the amature(bone tool) in flash cs5. I was having trouble trying get it to become a nested animation and make it into a symbol/movie. I heard you are suppose to select all the animated frames using EDIT> TIMELINE>COPY FRAMES, then pasting the animated frames into new symbol/movie. I have no luck with that, the menu becomes dimmed out from copying the frame...I'm not sure if nesting animations with amatures is possible? Any ideas? Thanks.
I was planning to get the body into nested animation, then attached seperate movie with flagging wings along a guide path.
2) Second question. I don't know why flash cs5 is exporting it's animation a lot differently from gif to swf. In the gif format it doesn't show the nest animation. Here's an example. The wings on the dragon animate fine in swf format but when converted to gif. The wings don't move.

It's very interesting -- there's some bug in the file -- even if some layers are not visible, when I double-click the text layer you are supposed to edit (the Symbol), other layers with text start to appear...
Not sure what's causing this. I would suggest to log a bug here:

And if you break the Symbol apart (select it > Modify > Symbol > Break apart) and then try to edit the text, all works normally as expected. Use this as a workaround -- I don't have a better suggestion for now...

What? Now those purchased songs can't be made into ringtones?

Well, I buy a lot of music from the iTunes music store, and I have an iPhone. Perfect. Now I can make my own ringtones!
Well, it used to be that way. I made three ringtones about 6 months ago. Recently, however, I began to realize that fewer and fewer of the songs in my library had the ringtone button. What's going on? I even checked the songs that I had already made into a ringtone, and even THEY were missing the button?
A quick check on the iTunes Music Store shows me that many of the albums I have purchased are able to be turned into ringtones. Why, then, can I not do that? I ALREADY BOUGHT THEM, and indeed I already used some of them!
I called apple and was informed that I must repurchase the songs, because they had been "updated." Really? If that is the case, and I must repurchase songs that I have already purchased, just so I can then further purchase 30 seconds of that song for a ringtone, then I quit. If there really is no other way, then I will never buy from iTunes Music Store again. I am a long time Mac customer and music enthusiast, and I will NOT be punished for trying to do things the legal way.
Is there any other way?

Anyone you might have reached on the phone will have no knowledge about the issue; the iTunes Store does not have any telephone support, and the Apple tech support reps have no information about the iTunes Store products or policies.
First, make sure that you're running the latest version of iTunes and that you're connected to the US iTunes Store (look for the My Country link at the bottom of the main iTunes Store page; I presume you are since you say some tracks do show the ringtone icon). If both are correct, you can contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Contact page and explain the problem to them. Note that it's entirely possible that the owner of the tracks in question may have withdrawn permission for Apple to sell them as ringtones; such things do happen from time to time.

Can't put files into nested folders in dock

Whenever I try to put a file into a folder I have in my dock, it will only let me put it in the first level of the folder. Ideally, I would want the folder to pop open and show the next level of folders so I can navigate through levels of nested folders to put the file in the exact place I want deep within my folder hierarchy. I know I can hold down Control on a folder in the dock to show my nested folders, but how can I drag files into those nested folders? I thought this was supposed to be automatic in Tiger. Please help.

Yes- Easy!
When you have your Creative Media Explorer open and your portable device connected, you will see your Zen V Series Media Explorer in the SOURCE window in the upper LH corner. Click on the "+" in front of the Zen V Series icon and it will display the list of folders on the device.
Right click on the main folder for the category you want to put the sub folder in and you will get a drop down menu.
Select "New folder" and you will get the "New Folder" box asking you what name you want for your new folder. It's that easy.

I would like to help.
Unfortunately, a printer would have to be on a network to use ePrint.
It would also require a firmware update.
The deskjet 2060, according to the Specs, is USB only.
One option available is the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory.
The other is to purchase a printer with the ePrint feature.

Photoshop flames. Can this be made into vectors.

The flame effect is what I'm trying to create. I know it's a common thing to do, but I would like this design on my van.
measurements for the panel on the van are 83" long x heigh 26" ...Around 30 characters are going to be used for the wording
I would like to use black background as the van color is white. Flames look better on the black, that's my opinion any way.

Would it not be easier to design the image in Photoshop, using a black background and then just apply the exact design to your van? You could even shape the overall image to the specific van panel then, without all the fuss!
I create a lot of large banner designs for people and pretty much follow the rules below:
6x3 Banner (feet)
-600 dpi (300dpi is ok but I like attention to detail!)
-Set canvas size to 25% of the above figure. (= 457.2mm x 228.6mm)
-Ensure everything you use in the image is high rez
-Keep the text and graphics at least 5mm+ away from the edges (bleed)
-Flatten image/save in desired format
-Email image to the printers/banner people
-Bingo!
This might not be what your looking for but you want black around the flames to make them stand out, so why not!

Insert data into nested tables

Can someone please advice how can I insert data into nested tables using APEX.
I have a table "employee" and a column addresses of type address_table_type object which has address1, address2, address3 columns. I want to create form in APEX that will collect address1, address2, address3. I wonder how to do this? should the item be based in database item? if yes then how can I point to the column of address_table_type

Can you post your tabB type, sample data, and your exact insert statement?
Is it overwriting or not commiting the inserts?
Have you traced your session to see what is happening?

How to alter instances of animated symbols

I am stumped as to how to use an animated symbol repeatedly in a timeline while being able to alter its visual qualities without breaking the animation motion.
I make a simple 3-layer animation of a body with two legs doing a walk cycle in place.
I convert the completed animation as a new graphic symbol in the library.
I can then drag copies of that animated symbol to different timeline layers and alter their overall scales or give them each additional motions with a motion tween so various versions of it can move across the stage independently with tweens while keeping the walk cycle movements of the symbol.
So far so good, but...
I can change the colour properties of the added symbols but this only affects the whole image, so if the object had a body and legs in different colours, altering the properties changes all of the body parts to the same colour. Doing this does preserve the walk cycle motion, but the new object looks crude because it has become all one colour.
If I break the symbol apart, I can then alter the visual properties of the components individually, but then it loses its animation motion.
Whether I just group it again or convert it to a new symbol, it has lost the animation motion (the walk cycle of the legs) of the original.
I can't figure out how to make such an animated symbol so that I can reuse it in the timeline while changing its visual properties (so it looks like a different character in the story) and yet keep its original animation motion.
I have tried to duplicate the symbol and to copy and paste the motion but nothing seems to work.
Can anyone please advise on what I may be doing wrong or if this even possible in Flash CS3?

I suggest you could create each part of the body and legs as separate MovieClips (which converting to a symbol choose "Movie Clip" instead of "Grpahic0 and then form the whole body with these pieces.
Now you could group all of the separate pieces in to a single MovieClip by choosing all of them and converting to a "Movie Clip" symbol.
This way you could change the properties of each of the parts.

Purchased song cant be made into ringtone?

I know that we have to purchase a song from iTunes to make it into a ringtone so I did, but to only find out that it can't be made into a ringtone.
I already have the song on my computer (I ripped it from my cd's) and so I have two copies, a worthless one that can't even be made into a ringtone, and one that I have on my iPod.
What should I do since we can't make my own customizable ringtones?
or is there something that we can make my own ringtones?

As for bought songs you need to make sure it has a bell icon next to it in the iTunes store. Only those songs can be made into ringtones (not all songs are available).
As for custom. Well, you can look for the software mentioned, but you can also do it yourself quite easily if you know a little about how to use a computer and find the instructions online. With iTunes 7.5 and iPhone firmware 1.1.2 one can make their own ringtones pretty easy (at least easy for me).

Disapearing nested animation within a IK armature.

I’m having problems with disappearing animation from a nested symbol within an IK armature. I’m using a character made up of graphic symbols, and an IK bone tool armature to animate it. All facial assets are within the head symbol, which is all fine and dandy. I’ve animated lip sync and facial expressions and have used the ‘properties box’ to sync the animation from the head to the main armatures time line though looping/ playing a single frame etc. (It’s been annoying because each pose requires you to set up the properties box again, which is a really fiddly process, especially when you have a lot of poses!)
Everything works fine- until I close the project and re open it! All of my synced animation from the head symbol has reverted back to the default ‘Loop- frame 1’. All of my animation is still within the symbol and working- But it wont show on the main timeline from the armature because every pose has reverted back to ‘Loop- frame 1’. This requires me to go through each pose- adjust the property box so it syncs up with the nested symbol again- EVERY time I open my files. This is really a bad workflow and I can’t keep doing it. I’ve saved different versions of the same file and it happens everytime? I’m not sure if it’s a bug with the IK timeline or if there is a way around it? If anyone has any clues or suggestions or knows a way around this- I’d be so grateful!

IK armatures require (actually, *are*) a special kind of timeline layer, just like new-style motion tweens. They operate in a different mode from that used with classic and shape tweens, and in this case, it means the same drawback occurs.
Fortunately, the timeline supports classic tweens, shape tweens, motion tweens, and armatures all at once, so you can mix-and-match to best suit your needs. Put your character’s arms, legs, and torso in one layer (an armature), then put the head in a series of classic tweens in a separate layer. That way, you can bone up the limbs to take advantage of IK benefits, while maintaining the nested graphic symbol trick for mouth phonemes."
So to fix this its probably best to not connect the head to the body armature- that way you can still get all the joys of nested animation and lip sync without it vanishing. That's going to be annoying for things like the hands or even if you wanted to swap symbols though.
If anyone else has any other ideas though I'd still love to hear them!

Song can no longer be made into a ringtone

I just purchased and downloaded a song. I go into store - create a ringtone and I get the message that this song can no longer be made into a ringtone.
Any ideas what this means and how to fix?

When you download songs in iTunes only those with a little bell symbol are able to be made into a ringtone...
Or you can use DRM free media to make your own ringtones in Garage Band

Yes
create the replacement
drag it over the existing symbol in the symbol pallete while holding ALT key down
(or whatever ALT is equivalent to in MacOS)
all existing symbols will update to new symbol

Can no longer be made into a ringtone

I purchased Jump by Van Halen even though I already own the song from a cd. When I tried to make a ring tone (it has a bell by it in itunes store and my library) it tells me "Jump by Van Halen can no longer be made into a ringtone".
I can not find a link on Apple's support site to ask them. Any help?

are you guys sure those songs can be made into ringtones? you can't just purchase any song and make it a ringtone it actualy must have the ringtone bell next to it. i purchased the new kanye cd and i got those messages when i tried to convert some of his songs which had no bells...amybe this is your problem?

It's hard to describe the problem, but I'll try it again, this time with pictures.
I was left with the following folders in the iTunes Downloads folder.

Here's one way to install. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

I figured I'd get my first ringtone.
Maybe it was a bad choice, but "Mandy" by Barry Manilow was there, with the ringtone bell. My daughter's name. I knew it would make her crazy!
Immediately after I downloaded it, I went to make the ringtone- and a dialog box came up that said "'Mandy' by Barry Manilow can no longer be made into a ringtone."
C'mon, Apple! Is there any other reason I would buy that song? How do I get my 99 cents credited back?
