Can assets be images of type jpeg,gif,Tiff,etc... ?

Hi,
I am working on ES2.
I am able to take PDF file as form to the my process. Here my new requirement is in addition to pdf I need to take all types of images
say jpeg,gif, and Tiff as input to my process. But I am not able to do that bcas Workbench only takes *.pdf as input.
If you have other extensions expect pdf, while taking the asset into the start activity, I could not find that file in the application.
Please help me in this regard how workbench takes all image files as inputs into the process.

Let me explian my requirement : I have scanned image and need to use that image as input to the process i mean image as form to the process.
I will invoke the process then scanned image should come as form in the workspace .

I'm running Firefox 27.0 on OSX 10.9. When I try to save an image from a website I'm only given the option to save the file as a Preview Document or All Files. Can't you give the file the correct file extension for that image (e.g. .jpg) when you save the file?
Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

Unsupported canera - JPEG or TIFF?

Aperture 3.1.1 does not support the RAW files from my Sigma DP2s. I am storing the RAW files separately in case the camera is supported in the future. With Sigma's software, I can convert the RAW files into JPEG or TIFF and then import them into Aperture. Does it really matter whether I import the JPEG or TIFF? There is no RAW fine tuning for either. TIFF is lossless, the file sizes are larger, but there's no image quality difference compared to JPEG to my eyes. There might be a differences for larger prints, though. So, should I just import the JPEGs into Aperture to save the disk space? Any suggestions?

Welcome to the user-support Aperture discussion group.
The question you ask is not an Aperture question, per se, but rather a general digital picture format question.
The difference wouldn't be to your eyes when viewing on your screen. Even at full screen, you are probably only seeing 10% of the pixels in your image. Yes, JPEGs are good enough for most prints, but will they be good enough for all of them that you want to make? You won't know until you print them. I can often tell the difference in photos larger than probably 5x7. (My eyes are pretty in tune with JPEG artifacts. My wife doesn't notice them, though.)
Perhaps if you answer this for yourself, you will figure out what you need:
Why are you taking RAW photos at the start of your workflow if you aren't concerned with all the data a picture can offer at the end of the workflow?
I.e., why start with RAW from your camera if you are just going to use JPEGs at the end?

How to disable the automatic conversion from JPEG to TIFF?

I am using Keynote '09 and Safari 4 on OS X 10.6.8, and I often want to drag and drop a JPEG image from Safari to my slides. I would like to keep the image format as is, but Keynote automatically converts the image format from JPEG to TIFF, so the .key file size becomes large.
Does anyone know how to disable this automatic conversion? Any idea? I know that I can use the original format if I save the JPEG image at a temporary location, such as ~/Desktop. But I would prefer simpler way. Drag and drop is the best.

Indeed, having the same problem here. A simple PPT file that was 1 MB ballons often to more than 10 x the size as a KEY file. If you rename to zip and open, one notices lots of completely useless "PLACEHOLDER" and background files that occupy several MB in total, plus some small JPGs have been converted to very large PNGs. This is truly annoying.
A similar lack of "file size economy" is present in all applications apple produces for the ipad/iphone. Images I uplodaded to the photo app become very large (often 10 x bigger). WTH apple? Be more economical! Even my 64 GB ipad2 is starting to feel small with your waste.

Program changes .jpeg to .tiff

My Photoshop Starter 3.0 changes images taken in jpeg into .tiff when downloading from the camera.
It only does this with my new Canon Powershot A470, not the old Olympus D-390.
Is there a way to stop this????

There's no setting to change file formats for download, but cameras are capable of capturing and storing files in either JPEG or TIF; my guess is that you are capturing the original file as a TIF on that camera.

Need help to create report with jpeg/gif image

Hello,
I need help with creating a form with a special jpeg/gif seal. I never done this Java. Until now, I created all forms with ansi C++ with HP escape characters to draw lines, boxs, and text. This form will contain boxes which is populated with database information read from a text file.
Since this form contains a special seal on the upper right, I don't think it can be done with old fashion ansi C++. How can I create a form with Java and create it as a simple exe to just print the form to a specified printer.

I am creating a form with boxes (lines and text). What is special about this form is that it has an image jpeg or gif at the top right corner. Is is a state department seal. Up to this form, I had used ansi C++ and print out escape HP character to print out the lines, boxes, and text. I have no idea how to print out the image. I am new to JAVA and only 1 class in it. Is there sample code out there to create this type of form with the image? I need a starting point.

iBookstore Publisher Support send me a fast response email which included some helpful info:
Please make sure that all image files inside the ePub end with one of the following: ".tif", ".jpg", or ".png" and that the file itself matches the file extension type. To check if the image file matches the file extension type, please right click on the image then select "Get Info". Once the info tab appears, please make sure that the file extension type of the image file matches the "Kind" found under "General".
For further information regarding embedded images, please refer to the iBookstore Asset Guide, which is available for download in the Deliver Your Content module in iTunes Connect.
And they INCLUDED THE TRANSPORTER LOG (!), the log generated by iTunes Producer as it tries to upload a book. We were able to search for the Validation Error # within the log and find out which image Producer was trying to upload when it encountered an error. Turns out the problem was a corrupted screenshot jpeg.

Rather than use an undocumented API, I would suggest a 3rd party library for Base64 encoding such as the one that I wrote:

Save Applet as a jpeg/gif image

I wrote a small applet to draw some lines.
it work fine.
What i want to know is how can i save this applet to a jpeg/gif file.
(Assume there is a Button in the Applet or Even in the HTML page; when click the button needs to save the applet as an image file)

Image (jpeg, gif) display in AWT layout manager

I am looking for some help, a hint on my AWT Layout challenge i have.
Example GUI_1:

I want to
- display a picture in the "display area" of the this GUI
- put labels left of it with some text
- put a couple of buttons right of it, through which i am able to manipulate the image
Questions:
*1. Is it (even) possible to display an (jpeg,gif) image in the "display area" while using a layout manager?*
Surfing over the internet...so far i only have found applet-examples that use the full gui surface of the applet to display an image via the g.drawImage (imagename, x,y); without any gui elements (labels, buttons) beside it.
*2. What kind of AWT gui element do i need at the location of the "display area"?*
Is is possible to use a CANVAS or do i need somethen else? (e.g. glue an image on a button)
*3. Is is possible to display an ANIMATION (series of sequences jpeg, gifs) in the display area?*
I already found out how to locate and load the images (via mediatracker).
Now i need to find a way to "paint" the loaded images in the GUI.
*4. Is this even possible with AWT layout or do i need to switch to SWING layout?*
I have not used Swing yet, cause i'm working my way up through the oldest gui technologie first.
*5. Do know any usefull websites, online tutorials (on awt and displaying images) that can help me tackle my challenge?*

Did you save the image to your working folder and have you defined a site pointing to this folder.
Defining a site helps Dreamweaver track and organize the files used in this site.

Image content type in Site Asset Image library: The Preview and Thumbnail Preview columns do not display the picture of the item.

I have two different Site Asset libraries. The Site Asset Picture library has items of
content type picture. The Site Asset Image Library has items of
content type image.
1) I do not quite understand the different between a picture content type versus an image content type.
2) the thumbnail and preview columns do not display the image in the Site Asset
Image Library. (the image does display in the thumbnail column of the Site Asset Picture library.) I expected the image to display in the Site Asset Image Library the same as it does in the Site Asset Picture library.

I have subsequently found out that our "Site Asset Images" library is a Document Library to which someone must have replaced the Document content type with an Image content type. I also found out that picture previews/thumbnails cannot be displayed
in Document libraries. So the problem was the library type, not the content type.
So I simply created a new Picture Library (whose content type = picture) and copied the files into that and the thumbnails displayed just fine!
I bet what led to this is the default "Site Assets" library that is created for a new Team site. It is just a document library but sounds very similar to the "Assets" library. I can imagine someone thinking the "Site Assets" library was a standard
container for images, and simply changed the name to better identify the content!
As far as 'image' vs 'picture' content types, I noticed that a new Picture Library contains a content type of 'picture', but an Asset Library contains a content type of 'image' (as well as audio and video). Although the 'image' content type has a few
more fields than the 'picture' content type (picture content type does not have thumbnail), the actual Picture Library contains pretty much all the same fields, including the thumbnail. So for all practical purposes, either library type can be used for
storage of pictures. I am guessing that the Pictures Library which uses the picture content type is for backwards compatibility purposes, and that the 'image' content type is newer, being derived from the new "Rich Media Asset" content type and used
in the new Asset Library which can hold audio and video in addition to pictures.
Microsoft Help also mentioned that a Picture Library has a slide view which an Asset library does not. So my take on that is that if you want the potential of seeing your pictures as a slide show, put them in a Picture library which is still using
the 'picture' content type of previous SharePoint versions. If you want to keep pictures organized with audio/video files, then put them into an Asset library which uses the 'image' content type derived from the new Rich Media Asset content type.

If you just want generic compression, it doesn't really matter what type of file they are. A simple approach would be to use ZipOutputStream

How combine a jpeg image & animated gif image & save it as GIF ?

i have an jpeg image, & also aminated gif image, how do i place the animated gif image over (in the center of the image) a jpeg image & save it as gif file ??

First thing you need to do is stop thinking in terms of file formats once the files are in photoshop they are all the same. The exception being vector vs raster. But in this instance the process is rteally the same so 6 on one hand a half a dozen on the other. Or as some would say Tomatoe, tomahtoe(mispelled on purpose).
The jpeg I would assume is the background image and the gif image is the fore ground object. Open the jpeg, and then place the gif file. As long as the fore ground object has transparency, your job is pretty much done. If not, then it will be up to you to mask what you want to keep vs what you don't and apply that selection to the foregrounds layer as a mask.
Google the net or skim the users manual for the keywords - mask, selections, quickmask, pen tool, paths. Each of these can in one way or another take care of your issue.
It would be worth your time to also go through the numerous videos about photoshop and see how its done.
