Can Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Record in 24/96 or N

The documentation says it can but I haven't found a way to do it yet. I've tried the Audigy included software, Audition and Goldwave. Looking at the spectral's in Audition the wavs seem to be resampled to 48kHz or less. I'm using the analog inputs (RCAs out from my phono preamp to RCAs in on the front panel.
Does anyone know how or know if it's possible to record in 24/96 with this card?
Thx!

Well, checked the spectrum of 24/96 wav file recorded using Hermann Seib's VSTHost/Asio4all and an old std Audigy 2 card a while back ...
... so it just looks like your recording settings are wrong or those ADCs found in Audigy 2 Zs I/O Dri've are not 24/96 compatible (IIRC, there are either TI/BB 804 ADCs (up to 24/92) (or Wolfson 8775 (up to 24/96)) but, are those implemented for more than 48kHz, that I can't say?). Have you checked if the Line-In in PCI card gives you same results you get through I/O Dri've? If it gives then your recording settings are simply wrong.

I tried using the Line-In input on the back of the PCI card with the same results. I'm pretty positi've I have set the correct settings for recording 24/96 each and every place possible. Just tried Wavelab and it also complains that the "audio card input could not be set to this sample rate 96000Hz". It also issues that same complaint when trying to record 24/96 in..... Creative ASIO, Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 (9800) and Audigy 2 ZS ASIO (9800).
I'm really thinking that this card isn't capable of recording in 24/96. If it is I'd sure like to hear from someone who has done it.

And digging around a little I've found stuff like this.....
24-Bit/96kHz
The Audigy 2 features high quality Cirrus Logic CS4832 DACs, a considerable improvement over the Audigy and Extigy.
The Audigy 2 is indeed a more capable card when it comes to 24/96, it can actually playback & record such sources without resampling with a notable caveat to this when the effects engine comes into the scene; the Effects Engine of the Audigy 2 still works at 48kHz meaning that resampling will occur in such occasions. While this isn?t particularly stated anywhere in the documentation, it'ss sort of poorly half hinted in the Speaker Calibrator.
This sort of ambiguity clearly isn?t of much benefit to anyone and it'ss a shame it hasn?t been better explained by Creative. Thankfully though, CosmoKramer over the 3DSS forums has spent some time testing this feature with his results posted here and instructions on how to get resampling-free playback at those rates. In other words, while the Audigy 2 clearly is a more capable 24/96 soundcard than it'ss predecessors it'ss still not quite there yet.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - can't record from front panel "mic-

I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. I have an electric guitar plugged into the "mic-in" port on the front panel. I can hear the guitar through my speakers but I can't record from any program. I've tried using "Creative Wave Studio" and XP's "Sound Recorder" but it doesn't record.
I can record by plugging a microphone into the back mic-in port.
This is very frustrating, please help
    --Dan

First is to set the Recording device to MIC2. The front panel device is considered the second microphone. Basically whatever program you use, I would assume it has to recognize this second microphone. Make sure you ahve it selected under the sound mixer (task bar Icon) "Line in 2/Mic 2" underneath "REC" on far right side. Then you can go from there.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro - Record from S/PDIF

I have an Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro. This is on a newly built computer (I purchased all components including the sound card and built it last week.) The problem I am having is when attempting to record in from the S/PDIF In input.
I have a video capture card in the same computer, using Cyberlink's PowerVCR II software. I have an external DVD player connected to the S-Video input on the back of the Video Capture card, and the audio connected via Co-axial cable to the S/PDIF In connection on the Audigy break out box.
Using the Creative Media Center or my Cyberlink PowerVCR II I am able to hear the audio in on the S/PDIF when playing a DVD. However, when I attempt to record the DVD Video and Audio it is not recording the Audio. I hear it playing as the DVD plays, but when playing back the record mpeg there is no audio.
I have used Adobe Audition to import the mpegs and there is no audio wav form in the mpeg.
I played with the settings for 3 or 4 days and finally got this working. The problem is I installed another video codec after I had it working for a few days, and this video codec crashed my Adobe Premiere Pro, I had to do a system restore to point prior to installing the new codec. This worked to fix my Premiere issue, but it reset the settings on my Audigy card and now the S/PDIF In does not record anymore.
I have played with all of the settings in the Creative AudioHQ Device Controls settings, tried different digital input settings and sampling rates. I have tried using the "What you Hear" selection as the recording device, however I get the same results: I can hear the S/PDIF audio input but the system is not recording it.
I went through and downloaded all updates from Creative and have installed them all, however I am still having the issue.

    Problem solved.
    Uninstall/Reinstall SP3 did the job

  • Windows 7 64bit with Audigy 2 ZS platinum - live recording work impossible

The only reason to own a SB platinum audigy solution is for recording work.
Why is Microsoft 7 in beta for a year and yet there are no workable drivers
for the recording features of this soundcard? I have the support release
of Home Premium which came out October 22nd.
The stable driver from Creative has no controls for level of the input. You can hear
the input pass through to the speakers at a fixed medium level,
but recording applications (e.g. audacity, etc.) cannot get the input signal at all.
The beta driver from Sept 2009 does support the levels for inputs such as Aux2
(guitar jack), but now the latency is way too high, and the sound is distorted. I have
tried a few input sampling rates other than the default but it appears to have
no impact on the latency. I think the latency is between 50 and 50 ms. It is
unusable. This latency does not occur on the same hardware and configuration
    dual booting to Windows XP.
If the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum is not going to be supported soon for all of the features
(minus game port) which worked in Windows XP, I would like a recommendation
for an alternate product which will be well supported in Windows 7.
Don't tell us to ask Microsoft when the drivers will be ready and working.
Microsoft is telling us to ask Creative Labs for this solution.

N I have the same problem! So frustrating!
Well, I did some digging for the answer to this, how fortunate that there is a solution!
If you disable then re-enable the Windows Audio service, it should fix it until the next time you restart your computer. (I only did it once, but you may have to do it more than once).

And I would like to be able to record? but doesnt seem to have that option either.
So why am i not using my Onboard Asus sound card instead? and selling this and never looking back creatives way??I will not be upgrading Anytime soon thats for sure.
the release date for vista has been out for a couple days and no Program / Driver Upgrade? Just crapy beta drivers that only gives sound and thats about it.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Can't Play DVD-Audio Di

    Please help!
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum set up. Everything about the card works great - with one exception: the only DVD-Audio disc I can play using the Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player is the demo DVD-audio disc that came with the card!
I have tried playing a couple of DVD-Audio discs that I bought, but I can't hear anything.
Is there anything I can do about this?

  • Adobe Audition, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, can no longer hear guitar :-\

I've recently reformatted my computer, installed the Audigy 2 software, and installed Adobe Audition. Using Line In 2 on the front of my pc, I was able to plug in a guitar, and hear the guitar via headphones. I can use the remote's record button to instantly start recording, with no problems. I can also play audio using Itunes.
When I opened Audition, I immediately received errors saying that my audio device was not configured or whatever, and that I needed to select an audio device. So I went into the Audition settings, chose Soundblaster Audigy 2 [xxxx], specified Line In 2 for the input, applied and exited. Now I can no longer hear the input from my guitar at all, whether in Audition or not. I'm not sure what setting it might have changed on my pc, but any help would be great.

    Other audio plays fine.
Audio is not muted for line in 2, line in 2 is selected in recording screen, line in 2 playback volume is not muted, yet somehow I can hear nothing from line in 2, and i don't have to be recording a single thing... It just doesn't play back.

Set 1st your .REC to AnalogMix(...) and then select this '+' sign --> untag the option like picture shows.

  • Home studio - Having Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro do I need a mixer for professional recordi

<SPAN class=postbody>Hi, I've got Shure PG 58 (dynamic mic) and Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. Is there any sense to buy any mixer or preamp to make the quality better? Do I feel a difference using mixer/preamp ? I really don't know what is the role of the external box of AUDIGY 2 PLATINUM PRO (is it a substitute of mixer/preamp ?) Thank you in advance skorp

it depends on who you ask, but the preferable way for most people is to use a high quality outboard mic preamp and send that into the line in. This is because the mic preamps in most consumer cards are considered cheesy. So boosting the mic up with a preamp gives you the advantage of being able to use the line input with your mic which is generally better quality sound.
As i said tho, it depends on who you ask. I have a shure Beta 57 which is an industry standard for pro sound microphones. Not a $5000 recording mic. But a very good general purpose mic. I go into the audigy 2ZS's mic input. However, to do so you need a impedence transformer (about $20) and you need to wire a stereo mini plug so that it bypasses the power that the jack supplies for PC mics which require it. In any case, i do this because i'm not a subscriber to the "use a preamp into the line in" club. Yes, it will produce better tone, but the question is how much better and how much of that improvment will actually make it to your ear? Personally i have tried both ways and find the difference tobe negligable. I'm sure that could change to some extent with a different card or mic or some other difference. But for me with an audigy 2 and the shure mic with an impedence transformer i get what i feel is very good sound the way i do it. So i really don't care what some may say. (many will insist you're stupid for doing it any other way than a preamp) I've been a musician for over 3 decades now and i know the difference between good and bad sound. And what i get from this setup is very good sound to my ear. Maybe not the best, but it's no slouch !
By the way, the creative box as far as the inputs is just basically an extention of the rear panel to make for the convenience of having your connections up front.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Can't get breakout box to w

Hi, I bought an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum from a friend, and he had lost the driver CD. I connected it and used the drivers I got off Creative's website, and the card works perfectly, but I can't get the breakout box to work. I connected it internally to the card, I don't know what else is left to do. Are the drivers the problem, do I need a specific app to make it work, or is it maybe a connection problem?

Hey!?Big Problem... my break-out-box doesn't work any more, too.... but it is powered on!?There is no possibility to use the mute function, IR-control, CMSS-Control or to do anything else with it... simply dead, although it is powered on. LED is green and at the optical out i have a red one shining. I tried cleansweap and reinstall drivers, nothing changed the situation. Cable are correctly connected, i didn't change the last years. I'm also missing the extended connection possibilitys in my "sound and speakers" options... formerly there where a lot more, now there are only?fi've or six controller bars.WHAT HAS HAPPEND? Is it normal that there are three steps with the CMSS options like: CMSS, CMSS2 and STEREO SOUND? I remember that formerly there was also CMSS3... correct? Maybe this is another wrong thing... Any hints regarding this box and controller problem? Thanks a lot in advance,Alabaster

  • Audigy 2 platinum- recording probl

i have been experiencing a slight problems with my sound card. i would record media from any source (mic,wave,line-in) and when i do a playback, it is choppy or plays choppy and very fast. i've tried many things to fix this like switching slots, updating drivers and even re-formated my hard dri've and still the problem hasent been resolved. has this happened to anyone else? please tell me how you have resolved this

I came here looking for this exact problem. However mine is NEVER in sync when I use the SPDIF mode. As soon as I turn it to normal stereo it works fine. In a related issue, the sound playback of any DVD is about half of everything else on my system. I have to turn up the volume to about 80% to hear a DVD at a listenable level whereas normal volume for me is at 40%.
My stats are as follows: P4 3.2c, Abit IC7-G, 2GB DDR PC3200, Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, BFG 6800GT OC, XP Home SP2, and the Nvidia DVD Decoder. Everything is running the latest drivers. The volume problem has been happening ever since I purchased this ZS. I never had the problem with my older Audigy 2. The SPDIF issue is new to me since I have only recently been using it. Any ideas?

  • CAN I use Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External I/O Hub .

    Hi @All,
Can I use an "Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External I/O Hub" with my "Audigy 2 ZS" SB0350 (not platinum not pro)? I have not the AD_LINK on the rear of my Audigy...
    Tnx

I was also curious it there is an AD_LINK to AD_EXT cable/converter etc.... I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum but the I/O Bay was broken and someone gave me an external I/O Hub (SB0290) - I would love to be able to use it

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum S/PDIF input is "dead" on Windows 7 x64

My experience with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum edition soundcard?pretty bad, after I bought a new machine with the following specs:
    OS: Windows 7 x64 ultimate
    CPU: Intel I7 920 3.7 ghz
    Memory: 6 gb
    Motherboard: ASRock X58 Extreme
Dual NVIDIA GPUs: 2X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 in SLI
Sound: Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
Everything has been updated to the newest drivers.
The soundcard works fine in games and for general use. But I didn't buy this expensi've (back then) soundcard just for that. I want to use it for recording music on it through the optical digital input especially. Just like I did when I used it on Windows XP with no problems at all.
    First and biggest problem:
S/PDIF as input in WaveStudio 7 (7.2.00) most often generates this message:
"The specified audio device is already in use."
and thus nothing is being recorded.
Maybe it should tell me what exactly is using it, for nothing else to my knowledge is using any audio?
Worst part is that sometimes (just on a rare occasion) it actually works. Until I reboot the system that is.
But a system that only works after a lot of struggle and only out of maybe 25 times is useless.
    Second problem:
"What u hear" feature is more or less unreliable and therefore useless (most often no sound at all)
    Third problem:
The volume mixer is awful compared to the one in Windows XP (most inputs missing and not really working that well if at all)
    Driver update?
The soundcard drivers hasn't been updated since june, I think. Maybe it was about time to start fixing all the problems? I've read people having the same type of problems with the X-Fi Platinum card. I would be willing to buy that card?if it would solve the problem, but from what I've read I dare not. I just want a card with decent digital and analogue ports and a headphone jack. All mounted on front or top.
    Help please?

    **update**
I went and bought a new optical cable to see if the one I was using wasn't good enough and that was just a waste of 20 bucks.. Still nothing, I hope some one around here can tell me if they have the problem I do with any of your sound blaster cards.. I'm starting to think that maybe my card has just poofed on me. I don't think thats the case because everything else works fine.. I read also where the bit stream tab will show up as invalid signal with dolby/dts even though it's working correctly. I was thinking thats the case because like I said, the dolby digital logo pops up when My PS3 sends audio to my audigy card..Message Edited by NeutralGold on 09-8-200708:36 PM

  • AUDIGY 2 ZS PLATINUM PRO : 8-Channel (7.1) Playback in WINDVD 6 Platinum doesn't work proper

    Ok here's the deal.
I have a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
Furthermore I own WINDVD 6 PLATINUM (incl. Booster pack) which supports 8 channel audio.
My speaker system is an analog one. The 8 speaker Creative Inspiron one.. don't know the exact name.
I just did a clean installation of Windows.
I am running windows XP Home SP2 with all latest updates.
Furthermore I installed all Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro updates there are.
    Anyways..
Whenever I switch to 8 channel (7.) playback from within WinDVD only the center and the 2 front channels work. The side (surround) and rear channels aren't working at all!
I get the same problem when I switch to 7 channel (6.) from within WinDVD.
When I click on test (in WinDVD) to see if the channels are working.. the test noise only appears in the front and center channels. However once it gets to the rear channel there's nothing.. and at the side left channel there's this quiet odd noise.
If I switch to 5. (from within WinDVD) mode.. everything is working perfectly... but 5. only..
I want to take full advantage of my soundcard.. and even though WinDVD supports this soundcard.. it doesn't seem to work.
Any other application... CUBASE SX2 or games such as Call of Duty work perfectly fine with all channels.
    Can anyone help me?
Can you recommend any other 8 channel software DVD playback software?
    Thanks

first of all your questions ain't stupid...you got to learn/understand once right?
**bleep** 3 yrs ago i thought i knew digital audio (mp3/wave on PC and Philips DCC recorder) but then came Dolby Digital & hardwaredecoding...LOL... Lots of differences in channelprocessing & so misconfiguration possible.
Well I hope you didn't uninstall your dvd player software... I mean software audiodecoding like matrixmixer(that you can find in codecpacks, all **bleep** that uses directx this because most of it is max 6bit LOL) ..your talking about all your extra dvd software.(but you don't need their extra audio playing features). Just select the sp-dif audio in WinDVd PowerDVD or NVDVD whateverDVD and then go check the creative soundcard speakersetup(not the windows speakersetup , but prefer to use the creative surroundmixer (click the THX logo/icon under in the creative mixer, and calibrate analog speaker output) etc.
You only need the player 4 dvd playing acces. (DVD-V DVD-A) (prefer the dvd-player for dvd-A in sp-dif mode because then you'll see that some dvd-A's have some videoclips or images. and do check the site of www.slysoft.com and score it in any way )
.. by the way don't forget this about your analog output 3.5mm jacks on the back og the card:
    first channel = 3.5mm 3-pole jack (stereo)
second and third channel = 3.5mm 4-pole jack (stereo portable camera cable works (3xrca).
so don't use stereo jacks on the 2nd & 3th channel...
You can use a portable stereo camera cable because the've on one side 3xrca(yellow/white/red) and on the other side a plastic 4-pole minijack (plastic=preferred because you probably need to make the 4-pole jack smaller with a metal file (be careful not to harm the cable) these cable's are standard and so very cheap. standard meter long.
Final joke: It's nice to have THX@Soundcard + THC@head greetings from a late in the evening Amsterdam NL.Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 05-24-2005 08:20 AM

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and Inspire T7700 does not recognize Mic on Audio Control

    Hi folks,
I decided to hook up my headphone and mic sets to the Audio Control Pod for the first time recently to chat online. I'm not sure if I ever tried this when I bought the Inspire T7700 speaker system, but I cannot seem to get any voice to come through in Windows' Sound Recorder (the headphones work fine). I'm hoping that someone here can help...otherwise, I suppose I'll have to find an alternate solution than using my soundcard system.
    Here are some specs:
OS: Windows XP SP2 and all current updates
Soundcard: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
Speakers: Inspire T7700 with Audio Control Pod (contains the headphone and mic jack)
    Here's what I have tried:
    . Updated drivers to: SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe
    2. Tested headsets and mics out on another one of my computers with a SoundBlaster Li've. They work fine.
    3. Set each audio source with full volume in the Recording Control window as the source while recording in Windows' Sound Recorder (I know some of these aren't right, but I tried them all nonetheless):
    - MIDI Synth
    - Line-In 3
    - Line-In /Mic (this should be the one, I think)
    - S/PDIF-In
    - Auxiliary (this might be the one for the Audio Control Pod)
    - "What U Hear"
    - Line-In 2
    - CD Digital
    - Wave
    4. Installed the Creative software from the official CD to manage the audio and speaker settings. Retested the same as item 3 above within this software. Same results.
    5. Disconnected the external I/O hub (since I am connecting to the Audio Control Pod, which connects to the speaker system and then my sound card). Interestingly, the Line-In /Mic input disappeared. All that I saw for an input (I believe) was Auxiliary. I tried even that as noted in item 3, but nothing.
Has anyone had any luck in getting a mic from a headphone set to work with the Audio Control Pod for the Inspire T7700 speaker system along with the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Read the FAQ on top of the soundcard forum concerning SPDIF and digital out. The reason is very easy to find out if you read that. In short: the digital out can only send out a PCM stereo signal (which is why you only get FL/FR sound) and an encoded AC-3 signal.

I think it's some kind of conflict due having another sound card installed. Is there something I can do so I can use the remote again?Thank you!
