Can berkeley db open thousands of db in an environment ?

In my application, I need open thousands of db in an enviroment, but the error "unable to allocate memory for mutex; resize mutex region" will occure at last.
I look the source, and find that berkeley db will allocate much memory for mutexs which are calculated by dbenv->mutex_cnt, which is the total of lock, log and txn.
and only less region left for opening db. So the number of openned db is limmited.
And I search the forums and find releasing mutexes, related to "unable to allocate memory for mutex"
in this message, db_recover is advised to release mutexs. but i think it is not appropriate for my application.
Is it possible to close these mutexes or free region in program ?
My os is WinXp, berkeley db version is db-4.7.25
environment flag is DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_PRIVATE | DB_RECOVER_FATAL | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_TXN | DB_THREAD | DB_MULTIVERSION
log flags is DB_LOG_DIRECT|DB_LOG_AUTO_REMOVE|DB_LOG_NOT_DURABLE|DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY
and my cache size is 1 g, log size is 200 m.

In theory it should not, but some claim that it does when it reaches more than 1500 files in a folder. However, merely having a folder with that many files in it sitting on the Desktop, that will not cause a slowdown. The Desktop is just another folder, now. Having lots of folders on the Desktop will not cause a slowdown until you reach a large enough number of folders. I don't think anyone would have a Desktop like that.

IMac can no longer open .jpg .jpeg & other media files sent from PC?

I can no longer open .jpg photos & media files sent to my iMac from my wife's PC through Outlook email. I get an error message saying the item cannot be opened. All other recipients have no trouble opening these attachments. We have tried numerous fixes suggested by Apple chat sites but to no avail. I suspect an OS update around December 2010 has caused this problem on not just our machine but thousands of other iMac users & Apple is ignoring it. Why isn't Apple addressing this huge issue?

Likely, because there are millions of Mac users, and not everyone is experiencing this issue. Until it happens to all Mac users with a specific system, it will be very difficult to isolate the cause.

Just updated to yosemite and get message saying "finder can't be opened"

I just updated my OS X to Yosemite. When the computer restarted, all my icons were gone from my desktop and every time I try to open Finder I get a message saying "Finder can't be opened". Anyone know how to solve this?

I just upgraded to Yosemite and my desktop will load for a few seconds before disappearing and Finder.app Can't Be Opened

(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

This application can't be opened

So I have been playing this game on my macbook pro for almost a year. Today, when I tried opening the app, it says The Application "NAME" can't be opened. I checked my trash but it wasn't deleted. I don't know what to do. Please help!

Finder can't be opened

I've just updated my Mac to OS X yosemite. then my finder does not work.
First, it's "finder quote unexpectedly while using the Finder plug-in.".... but i didn't have a plug-in finer !
Next : "Finder can't be opened".... then how can I get my files again !
please advise.

Why Can't I Open Pages App??

I just updated pages and now the app wont even open. I can't even open specific documents. What can I do to fix this issue?

Just installed Lion & can no longer open my Quicken app. Any ideas - I am a layman.

If you were using Quicken 2007 I am sorry to tell you that it will not work in Lion. Quicken 2007 is a PowerPC application and will not launch. This is the primary reason why I delayed going to Lion. I needed to find another finance program that would meet my needs and be comfortable with it before I went to Lion. If you heavily rely on your finance program as I do mine, and you absolutely need to keep the financial history you have then I suggest you:
     Downgrade to Snow Leopard. There are lots of suggestions about how to do this but be sure to back up everything before you start.
     Then buy or download another finance program. The leading one and the one I am using now is iBank4.
     Export your financial data from Quicken 2007 to iBank4. It is fairly easy to do and I was able to transfer 14 years of financial history from Quicken to iBank4.
     Once you are satisfied with how things are going with your new finance program, go back to Lion.
You are not alone. There is a "river of tears" about the demise of Quiken 2007 because they did not update their decades old code to Universal or Intel dispite warnings from Apple and despite the intuit CEO being on Apple's Board.
     If you decide that going through all this pain is not worth it for you then I suggest you purchase a modern finance program of your choice and start over. Unfortunately, Quicken 2007 is dead and Intuit does not have a Lion compatible finance program and meets the needs of thousands of their previous customers.

Until I saw your comment and googled the term, I had no idea that this was a "downloaded" file. I assumed the "1337x" reference was to dimensions/resolution and Noir referred to genre. (I.e., I use similar notations the differentiate files compressed for TV playback comparisons.) In any case, the advice is the same irrespective of the source.

Not necessarily. Thousands of movies are probably downloaded daily as legal purchases from such vendors as iTunes. Thousands more are available for free in the public domain, open source/community videos listings, and under Creative Commons Licensing. In short, there are many legal sources of downloadable content and you should not automatically jump to the conclusion that everyone is a crook.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

A while ago, maybe a year, I purchased Microsoft Office for Mac. I got Word, Excel and a few other things. I used Word fairly frequently to read .docs. I noticed a couple of months ago I can no longer open Word. I always get an error box 'Microsoft Word cannot be opened because of a problem.' Doesn't say what problem is. My guess is I accidentally deleted something critical to opening and using Word.
I would like to re-install the software. The problem is I can't find the MS Office discs. I do not know if I purchased discs or a download. I know that I purchased it but can't remember how and don't seem to have any evidence.
Excel opens and works fine. And I see the Word icon in my 'Applications'. But won't open.
Is there some way I can find out how I purchased this thru Apple and get a back-up download or something? Is there some registration number or proof of purchase attached to a file on my computer I can use to get a replacement download?
Would/Could I have purchased this as part of a larger purchase -- it's not part of the Snow Leopard Box Set is it? Does not seem to be.

Since updating Firefox, I can no longer open the NY Times daily/Sunday puzzle in the program used for crossword puzzles. Older puzzles sall open.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

Problem related to PS CS6 ext. on Mac. Installation is OK but I can't open picture from my Nikon D610 (Raw NEF format). I get a message "can not open this format ...". Checking Help menu to see if I miss an update the message I get is that I'm up-to-date but at the end Nikon D610 (format supported of course) files can not be opened . What OS are you running: 10.x.x?
What version of the Camera Raw plug-in do you have? Do (About) Plug-ins / Camera Raw to find out.
You need at least ACR 8.3 to open D610 files. If the Help / Updates process does not work, then there is a manual install process you can do. The page with the download is for when people accidentally updated to ACR 8.4 and need to roll back to ACR 8.3 due to their OS being incompatible, but the installer on that page works even if you haven’t erroneously updated to ACR 8.4:

I transferred files from a NAS server to the Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server and now some of the files have Custom Access and can't be opened by some users. How do I fix this?

We're setting up our Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server, and in the process transferred files that had been stored and accessed from our Blackarmor NAS server over to the Mac. These files were all created on PC's and are Office Excel files, WordPerfect files or PDF's. When you look at the files on the Mac from the Mac and bring up Get Info for the affected file, it says that the file has Custom Access. The files that work properly don't have that configuration. I can access and open the files on some computers, but some users can't open the files from their computer even though they can see it. We're all using PC's and they get the Error: Access Denied-Contact your administrator--or something similar. I've seen on the web similar issues and it may have something to do with ACL permissions. I don't know enough about Mac OS to understand this, but what is baffling is that they can be opened from some PC's but not others, and all of the Users have the same accessibility to the files.
