I got a Satelite p10-554 and want to upgrad my RAM.
I know by default the max u can install is two 1GB Kits.

Thanx a lot!

  • Satellite P10-554 shuts down after few minutes and I can not reboot

    hello,
i hope anybody can help me with my satellite P10-554
when i start the notebook everything works fine a few minutes. than the monitor turns into black and the notebooks shuts down suddenly. i cannot reboot it, when i push the start-button nothing happens.
i have to wait for about an hour and then i can start it up again, but he works just a minute and shuts down again !
help me please, cause i need my notebook to work !

I did that many times. First you need a special torx-screwdriver. Then you can remove the cover over the fans. Than take your vacuum-cleaner and remove the dust. Take a brush or somethin else to remove the dust from the fans. Then, you need to remove I think 2 big screws, now you should hold the cooling falance in your hands, the one with the fans. Clean that properly.
After that you can remove the copper-cooler, with 2 more screws I think, but it is pretty obviously. Now you should see the blank cpu with lots of heat-paste on it. I dont know why they put so much of this stuff on it from toshiba. So get a better one like Arctic-Silver or sth. My advice is to take the CPU off (one screw on top as far as I remember) and clean the surface.
The copper you can clean under water, but dont use sth that could scratch the surface. After that let it dry good. Now just put the CPU back and fix it with the screw again. Take a !litte! heat paste and put it properly with a paper all over the surface of the CPU, but remember, just a little! Then follow all steps back, dont forget to clean the graphics-chip as well and put some paste on it. You can see which it is when you look under the fan-cooling-falance, there should be a rest of heat-paste. Everything back to its place and voil*, a nice, cool clean notebook. By the way, I replaced even the fans.
If you need further advice, just ask!

  • BIOS Update fail on T530 - Fail to do module option

I tried to update my BIOS on my T530 today.  Tried both 2.07 and 2.50 (I'm running 2.04).  I'm using the Windows app, not the BIOS CD.  With both 2.07 and 2.50, I get the following error message: "Fail to do module option. The utility process has not completed."  Can anyone help?
I saw one thread that indicated this may be because I chose the option to keep my custom start up image when presented with the option, but I was afraid to choose anything else.
FYI, now the Lenovo update utility doesn't even tell me there's a BIOS update available...it's listed in my installation history as a successful update!
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Not problem, there is a key combo with the Shift or Cntrl key or something like that and doing the shutdown which unloads all rendering the Wiindows 8 system in true (Win7 equivalent) OFF. Just google Window 8 shutdown or hibernate. There is a lot on it out there. There is a way to change the OS to shut down that way by default but takes longer to boot each time. It is safer in my opinion since malware is not left loaded and running each time.

  • Satellite P10-554 nvidia geforce fx go5600 driver update

    Hi all,
I just tried to update to very last nvidia driver version 78.01. Running the setup I got an error message indicating that the setup routine couldn't find a driver that is compatible with the hardware installed. According to the doc the new update supports the harware installed.
Does someone why I can't update to most recent version?
    Thanks in advance
    Karl
BTW: I already uninstalled the current driver, rebooted the machine and tried to install the new version without success.

    Hi Juan, hi R2D2
thanks for your answers. I found the driver on the german site as well as on the english one:
    http://www.nvidia.de/object/winxp_2k_78.01_de.html
    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp_2k_78.01.html
If you follow the link "Products Supported" on this page a list of the supported products is being displayed (I just noticed that the card supported is GeForce FX 5600 and not GeForce FX Go5600). May that's the reason.
The last driver on the Toshiba site is 4.4.8.5.
Since weeks I'm trying to pinpoint a problem that the turns off due to the settings of the power management. But I can't reactivate the display when moving the mouse or pressing the keyboard. So I try to find out if it's a software or a hardware issue, but without success so far.
    Best regards
    Karl

  • Will 2800-400 BIOS update enable 802.11g wireless LAN?

I recently bought a Belkin 54G cardbus wireless adapter for use with my Satellite 2800-400, which has a Windows ME OS.
The setup software wouldn't install a driver, even though ME was said to be supported.
I wrote to Belkin and they told me that it was because the laptop BIOS didn't support 802.11g wireless and that I should update the BIOS. I updated to BIOS version 2 but it didn't make any difference.
I don't know if Belkin's instructions were on the right track or whether they were they just pushing the responsibility as far away from themselves as they could.
Please can anyone tell me if my laptop does support 802.11g wireless, with or without the BIOS upgrade?
    TIA
    Mike

Thanks for the reply. the notebook does support wireless LAN because I can get a 802.11b card to function OK.

Well it's done now so there may be other benefits. Not 802.11g wireless though it seems.

Thanks I'll try to find and contact a service partner.

  • Tecra 8000: Does Bios Update enable booting from USB?

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Tecra 8000 (PentiumII 266MHZ)
Will this bios bios-t8000-930-trad.zip (08/26/02) enable boot from USB ?

    Hi
Im not sure about that. Your BIOS version is 020 but on the Toshiba website I have found a BIOS version 9.30. Well, it seems that this version is newer but Im not sure if it allows you to use the 40GB HDD.
Some Tecra 8000 models were delivered with a 14 GB HDD. In my opinion it should be possible to use a 20 or maybe a 30 GB HDD but its difficult to say if the bigger HDD size will work.
You can ask the professional HDD dealer or a ASP for further informations.

You will lose the configurations in BIOS but not the RAID.
The RAID will stay the same you will not lose any data. You just have to configure the BIOS (not the RAID one) to recognize the discs as RAID, as you configured them the first time.
    Hope that is clear...
    Be well....
Thanks for the reply. Do you think it will solve the above described unstable voltage for the CPU. I currently use 1.10 BIOS

    Update: SOLVED
IF the coice is made to KEEP the custom startup image the flash will fail.
Choosing NO doesn't create any issue and can be easily flashed.
Solution for Lenovo would be to either:
     1. clarify the meaning of startup image OR
     2. remove the option altogether

  • I've 1 gega ram can i update to it ?, i've 1 gega ram can i update to it ?

i;ve 1 gega ram !! can i update to lion

Lion requires 2GB minimum of RAM.
The installer check for that and won't install on a smaller machine.
I wouldn't advise rnning it on a 1GB even if it would install.
    2GB minimum 3-4GB recommended....more is always better.
I upgraded my 2GB MacBook for Lion, It ran fine on 2GB but better on 3.3 GB (No don't ask, but only 3.3 of the 4GB on my particuar MacBook model is used)
Mwmoey is getting cheaper and cheaper. Look at OWC for memory.

  • BIOS Update for Tecra A3: Is it Really Needed?

I frequently see a new bios update file from the download site. My Tecra A3 is 2 months old and have no problems so far. Is it really necessary to update the BIOS?
One more thing is that there is no mention about what the latest BIOS update will do to the laptop.

    Hi
If your unit runs properly and if there are no problems, in my opinion, the BIOS update is not necessary to do.
I use Satellite P20 about two years and I didnt make BIOS update till now. I agree with you that without any concrete description it is not easy to make decision about BIOS update.

  • Z77A-GD65 - add more voltage to DDR RAM?

    Greetings.
I'm trying to OC my ram from 1600Mhz to 1800Mhz. My ram runs at 1,5V 1600Mhz, and I want to add a little more voltage to the ram for stability. But in BIOS under the setting of Voltage for ram the setting is locked at "auto".
Which setting in BIOS must I change to unlock "DDR Ram Voltage" to raise it a bit?

    Yes
    Thank you very much

  • Wireless LAN driver can't load after BIOS update NB550D

    Hi
I have a new NB550D and have jst installed the recommended BIOS update. Now the Wireless LAN driver can't load (error code 31).
I tried installing the lestest driver off the Toshiba website but it still can't be loaded by Windows...
Everything was fine before this! Any ideas?

    > In the Device Manager the Atheros Wireless is shown
This means that the Wlan driver was installed properly and the issue could be related to configuration between Wlan card and Wlan router.
You should check if the notebook can connect to Wlan router without the usage of any encryption settings.
Disable the WEP/WPA encryption and test the connectivity. Of course this should be done only for test attempts.
Are you sure that the Wlan is enabled? Enable this using FN + F8

  • How can I update the BIOS without using a CD?

    Hello!
I have recently decided to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4GB. After installing, I booted up my computer to find that it would not recognize the new memory. After doing a bit of troubleshooting, I decided to try and update the BIOS, as the version was from 2010. I downloaded the BIOS update boot CD application from lenovo, burned a disc, and on reboot I found that the boot order did not have CD listed on it. Here's the catch: I don't have the supervisor password. This is a hand-me-down laptop, and I have tried to find the password to no avail. This is the current boot order: USB drive, Hard drive.
My question is, can I either create a BIOS update disc using a USB, or update the BIOS some other way?
I understand that it is impossible to recover the supervisor password without having it serviced (which I would rather not do, even if I have to send my RAM back to Crucial)
    My system specs:
    Thinkpad L512
    Bios version: 1.04
    Bios date: 2010-3-26
    Embeded Controller Version: 1.01
    Windows 7 32 bit
    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!
    Two things here:
    a) If you run System Update, it should offer the latest BIOS for your machine as well. I've never done it on a passworded unit, so it might or might not work but might be worth a shot.
    b) I doubt that the ability of the system to recognize new RAM has anything to do with the BIOS. ThinkPads much older than yours will run 4-8GB RAM with an old BIOS, older than your machine to begin with.
    Good luck.
    Cheers,
    George

  • Request for bios update to enable the switchable graphics fixed mode.

I formaly request a new BIOS update that will enable fixed switching for the HP g6 2204tx .Folowing the recent BIOS update available in the Support Section of HPs websites, version F.26, there is still no option  to enable fixed switching in the BIOS.

I can't use my laptop to it's full potential besause of this. My Disply driver is even older than my Laptop. Why do you do this to your customers. I'm never going to buy a HP laptop agin I feel that I have been cheated by HP. A very bad suport and not up to date drivers for the system
