Can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?

I'm looking at getting an Intel iMac which will let me throw away my old PC - Yeah!
I will have a couple of Win apps that I will need to hang on to (Quicken - Quicken for Mac is horrible, but that's another tghread). Anyway, can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
My thought would be to allow my wife to access Quicken from Parallels and not have to reboot. She will only need lightweight access and the overhead of running virtualization wouldn't impact her. I, on the other hand, would want to occasionally boot natively into Windows and run the same application with the same datafile. Is this possible?
Thanks and looking forward to joining the MacIntel world!

Thanks for all of the freplies. I suspected that BootCamp and Parallels could not shar ethe same partition, but wanted to verify. To address some of the other posts:
Re: Quicken vs MoneyDance - I looked at MoneyDance a while back and while it is comparable to Quicken for Mac, it isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows (ergo, Quicken for Mac isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows!). But, as I said, that is a topic for another thread!
Re: Using Bootcamp/Parallels for only one app: I actually have several apps that I still need access to on Windows. I work with many business applications than only run/are supported on Windows as well as receive some complex Office documents which Office for Mac cannot handle. Quicken (for Windows 2007) was just the best example of a consumer app where I could see wanting access from both OS X and Windows.

I have the IPhone, IPad and MacBook, IPad and IPhone share the same Apple ID and Icloud storage. Cannot make ID Change on MacBook as it says the ID is already taken. How can I make all three match?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

  • My wife and I share the same email address and Apple ID.  We are not able to send and receive Text Messages to one another.

My wife and I share the same email address and Apple ID. We are not able to send and receive Text Messages to one another. Is the cause of this because we share the same Apple ID? Will we have to set up 2 separate primary email addresses to be able to  send and receive Tex Messages to one another? Like I said, we share the same email address and woul like to keep it that way to keep up with our email together. Is there a way to by-pass having to set up 2 primary emaill addresses if this is the problem?
    Thanks.

go to the settings and turn off imessage
but that don't change the issue that you will never be able to facetime eachtoher
the appleID is really meant as the handle that identify you it was not meant to be shared
but can see that people may want to do not buy apps more then once

  • HT4818 Can you use both Bootcamp and Parallels with the same Windows 7 installed

I have Parallels installed with Windows 7.  Can I use both Bootcamp and Parallels on the same machine depending on whether I just want to work in Windows all day (Bootcamp) or alternate during the same session (Parallels)?

You can, yes. But there is a complication: once you activate windows it will only be activated for one of the two methods you use. So, let's say you install into boot camp and activate windows. You can then install Parallels and it will find your boot camp installation, but when running in Parallels, Windows will report that it is not activated. Or, you can activate it in Parallels and when running in Boot Camp Windows will report that it is not activated. The reason for this is because Windows thinks it is running on different computers depending on how you boot it. This may not be an issue for you if you run Windows a lot one way and just occasionally the other way, so be sure to activate Windows in whichever method you use more often. Hope this helps!

  • My daughter and I share the same iTunes account and have both updated to iso5, after the update I had all my daughters contacts on my phone, so deleted them and as a result have deleted my daughters contacts from her phone. Can they be restored?

    Deleted contacts

I have the same problem. I sent her them back and deleted them from my phone. They have now returned from to my phone!,,

  • My dad and i share the same apple ID and now we have the same contacts. Help please

When my dad got a new phone he got all of my contacts because we have the same apple ID so how do i get my contacts off of his phone and also if he deletes one of my contacts off of his phone it gets deleted off of my phone. Can someone help me? Thank you

To fix this, one of you needs to migrate to a new, separate, iCloud account.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow, then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com from your computer and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • My father and I share the same apple id, and when I delete/add a contact to my iPhone they add/delete on his phone as well. How do I stop this from happening?

I want to keep the same apple Id, but I don't want our contacts synchronising every thing in my contacts and calendars. Please help?

This will happen if you have iCloud enabled. So you can either
    1. Turn off icloud on one of the devices by Settings > iCloud & turning it off
    2. Create a new apple id for either one of you.

    Please help

  • Can two I-4phones have the same user name and password?, Can two I-4phones have the same user name and password?

Can my husband and I share the same user name and password on our I-4 phones?

Yes.. but it can introduce complications.
If you're going to use the same Apple ID for iCloud, contacts, calendars, and photo stream are all shared if enabled.

  • HT201077 my daughter and I share the same apple id but can we have separate photo stream

My daughter and I share the same apple ID for music and apps. Is there any way for us to have separate photo streams. We do not want to share photos.

    Hi
I also have 2 iphones (mine and my wifes), all on ONE iTunes ID and ONE iCloud ID.
I want to backup our photos only automatically to my Windowns 7 PC using Photostream & iCloud from both devices BUT I dont want her photos on my phone and vice versa.
I too would like to keep 1 iTunes account and because I dont  want her photos streamed to my phone I will create separate iCloud IDs.
    My question is.....
Can I set up my iClound control panel in Windows to backup photos from BOTH the iCloud IDs on the 2 phones?
I dont mind the backups going to the same folder on my PC, but I do want to keep the pics on the phones separate.
(also I am happy to use 3rd party software or manual options if not possibe with Apple products)

  • My wife and I share the same iTunes account.  How can I setup a separate account for her iPhone using my iMac?

Using More than One iDevice on the Same Computer
This applies mainly to couples who are adding another device and do not want their email, messages, etc. being duplicated on both devices. To begin read: How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. You need to establish a separate Apple ID and password for whomever will use the new iDevice. See Apple - My Apple ID and Frequently asked questions about Apple ID. The easiest way is to do this on the computer using iTunes: iTunes- How to set up an Apple ID within iTunes.
On the computer create a new user account for the person with the new iDevice. This will be the user account that person will always use. He/She will no longer use the other user account. This way that person will have a separate iTunes Library
Start by transferring the new device(s) to a new account along with all your data.  Save any photo stream photos that you want to keep to your camera roll (unless they are already in the camera roll) by opening your Photos app, tap on Albums icon at the bottom. Now, tap on My Photo Stream album; tap Select; tap on the photos you want to select;, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow) in the lower left corner; then tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are syncing notes with iCloud that you want to keep then you need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself. Later you can copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.
Tap on Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be affected,) provide the password to turn off Find My Phone and choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted.  Sign in with a different Apple ID to create your new account. Choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.
Note: The essence of the above was created by user, randers4. I
have made substantial changes to improve readability and syntax.

No. You cannot link your contacts to hers. However, you can use Home Sharing to share the information:

The biggest problem I have is with cross texting. My friends send my a imessage on ipad to ipad and it comes up as message on my husband's phone as well as my ipad?
My friends definitely do not want my husband seeing their texts. (and I dont really need him to see my responses either)
Also, apple id is based on my email account, how do I create a new apple id without setting up a new email account?

    Hi tomgoggs,
iTunes purchases do not count against your iCloud memory space. See this article for what iCloud is used to store -

  • HT204407 My wife and I share the same email address but have different iphone numbers.  Is there anyway we can both be on "Find Friends."

My wife and I share the same email address but have different iphone numbers.  Is there anyway we can both us "Find Friends" apps?  When I try to enter her contact name it won't allow me to do this.  Thanks.

make seperate appleID's if you wish to be frinds or if you wish to facetime video chat and if you wish to not recieve the samme imessage msg's unless you turn it off
you can still set both your iphones to use an email address even if both have different appleId's
the appleID is a handle not a link to an email address
