Can Bridge Label and Rate Pictures on removable CD, DVD...?
Adobe Help file states so:
"You can label and rate folders as well as files. You can even label and rate files and folders on read‑only media, such as a CD."
but adobe techs can't figure out why it is not working.
seems to somehow work manually in certain workspaces (vert film strip, light table...) by sliding mouse over the 5 white dots. but pull down menu ( although not grayed out) will not register rating on pictures. and most important, the filter doesn't recognize them anyway, so pointless to sort.
version: Bridge cs3 2.2.1.9, all recent patches updated.
this had been exceptionally useful in past through the old build-in photoshop feature to rank thousands of pictures from client or photographer cds by building ranking into cache and allowing for sorting pictures before opening, saving, retouching in photoshop whilst still navigating through cd roots.
only recommendation from techs is to burn entire content of each cd onto your hard drive, then rank them, then re-burn a new cd with metadata adjusted if needed. if any of you deal with thousands of pictures coming from photographers and clients, i dont' have to tell you this is a huge asinine...
any idea much appreciated to solve the problem.
That is normal behavior I think, if you open a folder with only subfolders there are no cached files for Bridge to read. I don't know exactly with CD but if you let Bridge build the cache for that folder the filter probably appears after showing only no rating.
If you have otherwise problems with filter or anything else first is to use the menu tools - cache - purge cache for folder, if this is not working refresh preferences with holding down the option key while restarting Bridge and choose refresh preferences out of the three options

Bridge labels and ratings problems involving Premiere Pro
I recently went on vacations and took a lot of video with my DSLR. I took a lot of time to organize the footage by batch renaming as well as adding labels and ratings within Bridge. I had assumed that adding this kind of metadata would stay with the clips upon importing to Premiere Pro but found today when I imported all of my footage the ratings and labels did not appear in Premiere but still appeared in Bridge. I couldn't find any helpful information on this topic online so any help that could be provided would be much appreciated.
P.S. All of the footage was recorded to AVCHD .mts filed on a Sony A65 DSLR and im using a 2011 I7 iMac not sure if this information is usful but I thought it couldn't hurt to provide itWelcome to the froum. Your submittal was great.
I don't know if this will fix your problems, but you need to update to the current versions and see where that takes you. Click on Downloads/updates at top of page.
You have Bridge CS4 v.3.0.0.464 and Photoshop CS4 v.11.0 and Camera RAW 5.0.0.178. Don't know what current version of Bridge is, but you need PS v. 11.0.1 which fixed a number of mistakes. Also, the current RAW is 5.6 I believe. I am still on CS3.

Edits, keywords, and rating can be stored in the XMP file. This has the same name as the file and needs to move with the file or you will loose info. You can look at it in Windows Explorer if you have "show hidden files".
Check to see if you have an XMP file in the new location. If not then do you workflow in stages and see if you have an XMP file after edits before you save it to another location.

What file(s) keep Bridge labels and ratings
Using Bridge CS4 3.0.0.464, and have lost some of the labls and ratings I had given images. I was unable to regain them
from .xmp files, or cache files, so had to get them from backed up folders of those images, though all the image files themselves

I read this post and hope to clarify the design and ask some questions:
Issue 1:
How to access folder 'user/app data/Roaming/adobe/bridge' that Curt Y mentioned:
Please note on Windows 7 or Vista, the folder 'AppData' is hiden by default, you can either show hiden files, folders and drives out by changing the OS folder options, or you can directly input the path '[CurrentUser]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5/' to enter the folder directly.
Issue 2:
Where the Labels and Ratings are stored.
For all the XMP-supported files (e.g: include almost all the Camera Raw files, Images file, PDF, Illustrator files, InDesign files, video, audio, etc. An easy way in Bridge to know whether a file is XMP-supported file or not is to show out a property named 'Supports XMP' in metadata panel by checking on the item in Bridge Preferences -> Metadata -> File Properties -> Supports XMP), the Labels and Ratings are stored in the files themselves, or the file's sidecar file (for Camera Raw files, usually it is the .xmp file with same name of the raw file)
For all the XMP-unsupported files (e.g: folders, .txt, .doc, .xls, etc...), the Labels and Ratings are stored in the hiden file named .BridgeLabelsAndRatings which located in the same folder with the XMP-unsupported files you labeled/rated.
As I know, the file's labels and Ratings info won't be stored in the folder '[CurrentUser]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5/'.
Issue 3:
Labels and Ratings lost issue
If you copy/move files inside Bridge, either XMP-supported files or XMP-unsupported file shouldn't lost their label/rating info.
If you copy/move files outside Bridge, e.g, to copy or move them in Finder or Explorer:
- XMP-supported files: Camera Raw files which have sidercar file
will lost label/rating info because Finder/Explorer don't know their sidecar file should be bandled with the camera raw files.
- XMP-supported files: other files which don't have sidercar file
Shouldn't lost label/rating info because the metadata has been store in the files themselves.
- XMP-unsupported files.
Will lost label/rating info because Finder/Explorer don't know the label/rating info is stored in the hidden file .BridgeLabelsAndRatings and won't copy/move the file together.
Questions:

- What application do you use to save the file?
- What kind of files are you saved?
- Are the files located on local disk?

Can I transfer and print pictures taken with my iphone?
Can anyone, please, tell me if it is possible to transfer and print pictures taken with my iphone. I would need to print out a few pictures, but I could not fina any information about transferring or printing out pictures that are on my "Camera Roll" section of my iphone. Thank you very much for any help.
When you connect your iPhone for the first time after taking a picture, Windows or Mac will pull up a dialog asking what you would like to do with "Digital Camera" or whatever the USB recognized question is saved as.
With Windows, it will have "Camera and Picture Wizard" which will copy all pictures and save to where you specify or it will ask if you want to print them. **
You can also change the default selection somehow to change to a new application if you installed such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop. Note that after you check the dialog box "Remember my choice" whatever the wording is, you have to figure out where to change your choice afterwards.
With Mac, it has iLife to copy the photos for printing.
An alternative is to save the photos, then burn them to CD, and take it to CVS or a One Hour Photo shop to do it.
** The iPhone will still retain it's captured stills and re-ask the same question again and again until you delete the photographs on the camera application.

ok...I think i solved the issue. You have to scaled it first than move the wallpaper. You can not just move it.
This is what I did.
First I turn the phone upside down. Tried moving the wallpaper that way and nothing happned.
Next I turn it right side up again and zoomed in and out.
Then I was able to move the wallpaper.
You don't have to turn the phone upside down to move it. You just need to zoom in than out (go in really close. than see it full view), than move the wallpaper.
If you let the phone go on standby (black screen) while you move the wallpaper you will have to repeat the steps (zoom in and out, than move) again. -
Can Bridge label images in Finder?
I want the images I've selected in Bridge - sorted by Rating - to have a color label when I view them in a folder in Finder. Currently I just manually label each one in Finder with the Bridge window open. is there a better way?
Label colors are very seldom interacting with other applications, Finder is not compatible with Bridge and v.v.
If you do want to color label the files in Finder the quickest way in my opinion would be to create separate folders for this temporarily job. For instance create 5 folders, 1 folder per rating. Set those folders in the favorite panel and be sure to have them in sight.
Use the folder panel preferable under the favorite panel, you can move panels with drag and drop to create your own workspace in Bridge.
In the folder panel select the folder you have the rated files in. Then use the filter panel (again placed visible, move to desired place, you can have all three in one column e.g. at the left, next to content panel) and select 1 star to only view the 1 star rating in content panel.
Now select all in content panel and drag and drop the files to the 1 star rating folder in favorites.
Then switch to Finder and point to the 1 star rating folder. Again use select all and with right mouse click menu select the color label you want to apply, let go and all selected files are applied with the color label.
Go back to Bridge and select the 1 star folder in favorites, drag and drop the files back to their original folder and repeat this method for other ratings using filter panel and drag and drop.
It is a bit of a D-tour but much faster then using the one by one method… -
Can I copy and paste pictures from laptop (windows 7) to ipad
I had to remove pictures taken with iphone (photo stream) to make room to load ISO8. Copied them to my Toshiba laptop but now trying to copy & paste back to ipad but it is not working.
Sync the Photos using iTunes on your laptop.

There are also third party WiFi apps that let you transfer photos to the iPad from the computer and the other way around. I use this one.

I'm accustomed to copying pictures that I placed on a third-party host (Photobucket or Multiply) and pasting them into the body of a Yahoo Mail message. I can't do that on Firefox. When I click "Paste," nothing happens.

BT Cloud can't see and backup pictures on Samsung ...
My Nikon camera uses wifi to upload pictures to my Samsung Galaxy S3, but puts them in a separate Nikon folder. The phone recognises this and offers it as an option when I open the picture viewing app, but the pictures in the folder are not included in the pictures automatically backed up. Any suggestions? I know I could move the pictures across to the regular picture folder each time, but I don't want to have to do this extra step. Nikon support suggested contacting BT. Would it be possible to suggest to the development team as a future possible enhancement that the option in the app to select 'Pictures' for automatic backup be improved to allow the user in addition to select any folder on the phone?
Why use BT Cloud?
On your S3 you could use Google Drive which can store 15gb of data - for photos if you backup full size it is used against storage, but standard do not.
You could go one better and use Flickr - a free acount gives you 1TB of storage and you can access it from most devices (android, apple, pc) and if you leave BT you don't have to move your photos about.
I backup to Flickr and have set which photo folders I want backing up (ie screenshots, downloads, whatsapp, camera, etc, etc) -

With IE you can copy a picture from the web and paste in to an email, with Firefox I have not been able to do this?
In Firefox, right click over the image you want to copy and select "Copy Image".
Go to your email application and then right-click and "Paste".
This should work.
I notice that you are using an older version of Firefox, so it might be worth upgrading to the newest version Firefox 6.0.2. -

How can I copy and paste a caption for several pictures that are all the same?
I'm trying to understand the process of importing, labeling and organizing pictures I'm importing from my iPhone into iPhoto 11.
So far I am importing only pictures that relate to one another; ie taken at the same event. I have 18 pictures from one hike. I'd like to label each of those pictures the same; ie "hike at Bear Creak 2/15." Can I copy and paste the same label to all 18 pictures? How would I copy and paste?
There are lots of You Tube videos on the subject of iPhoto and that's how I learn best. If you know of a really basic one to watch I'd appreciate it.
I think I have to take a class at the Apple Store on this basic organizing because it's really escaped me in the 9 months I've had this Mac (switched from PC.)

select all 18 photos at once in iPhoto on your Mac and then use the menu entry "Photos > Batch Change"
That will change the titles or descriptions of all photos at once.

Photo from Lightroom2 Bridge InDesign and retain edits
I use a Mac, CS3 and LR2. I am can view edits from photos (JPG, TIFF, or DNG) in LR in Bridge. The problem arises when I try to import/place/drag those images into inDesign - the edits do not follow with the image. Is there something I have to change, or is this not possible?!

I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. I sell phones for a living and this happens a lot

I want to share a folder of images with a client who is also using bridge. I want the client to be able to edit metadata and rate the image. How can I do this?
Metadata won't be a problem as long as you use Bridge to copy the file from within Bridge to whatever media (flash drive, CD/DVD. email, etc) you plan to use for the sharing.
I'm not sure about the Label part. Maybe it will travel along too.
