Can Camileo X100 be used as a webcam?

I just got a Toshiba Camileo X100 for my birthday and I wish to know if I can use this camera as a webcam?
On this review it says that Camileo X100 can be used as a webcam: http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/photo-video/3220546/toshiba-camileo-x100-review/ but I don't know how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.
If this feature is available for this camera, what webcam software is the best? And when I try to use Camera Assistant Software while my camera is connected to my pc by a Mini USB cable, I get this error message:
"Webcam is either disabled or has failed. Please check your webcam settings".

The camera can't be used as a webcam. Found it on one of the FAQ pages.

Camileo X100 freezes using remote at the end of clip

I bought a Toshiba Camileo X100 a few days ago.
The camera is great, I like it very much.
However, there is a problem with the firmware I think.
The remote control is functioning, as expected, although there is no detail about its usage in the manual, I had to guess everything.
The problem is the following. If you go with the remote to play a clip, you wait for the end of the clip, and would like to go back to the previous screen, you press the Back/Cancel button on the remote (right bottom button).
If you do this, the camera freezes.
You have to switch it off and switch it on again to be able to use it.
The bug was confirmed by HRP Hungary (distributor and service in Hungary), we tested it together over the phone, so it should not be the problem of my specific camera.
What could you advise me on this?
The following issues are not bugs, but during playback it would be useful to be able to see somehow the details of the clips recorded (at least the time of the recording), and to be able to set some settings for recording, so that the camera does not forget everything at turning off (e.g. stabilization, or pre rec setting etc.).
Why do you have to have the screen open, when you are shooting a time lapse for a few hours, or during playback on TV?

THX for checking. I also sent a letter to Toshiba, first they wanted to replace the camera, then I explained again that the replacement will work the same way, no answer since then.
What I ment during playback, is some information about the clips, e.g. the time, when the recording was made. Currently you only see the number of the file and the total number of files in the list, and the length + the number of the files when you are on one file. On other cameras you see the length, the time of the recording, the settings used. On Camileo X100, you see only the length and the basic setting, but no data on the time of the recording, or other metadata (e.g. stabilization focus...). It is not a bug, but would have been useful.

Camileo X30 - Can i use it as webcam?

I was looking at the Toshiba Camileo X30 and was just wondering if it can be used as a webcam for programs such as Yahoo messenger and the like -

Camileo X100 - Can it receive input through the connection ports?

I want to be able to record whats on my tv using the camcorder or possibly connect the camcorder to some other device and record what the device is sending to the camcorder (possibly using the playback function). The camileo x100 has a TV jack, HDMI, and USB port.

No, thats not possible. All ports on Camileo X100 are only *output* ports to view recorded videos on TV or computer.
There is no input port on the camera.

I can't take my warranty for Camileo X100

The serial number of my Camileo X100 doesn't exist in the toshiba warranty database.
I call to support center and i got no response.
I'm getting disappointed with toshiba.
What's the other way to put me in contact with toshiba?

I have no idea what database you have used but possibly you tried to register the Camileo camcorder in notebook database. This will not function
I think your Camileo is covered by standard warranty and if something will go wrong with your camcorder you could get in contact with your dealer or with the Toshiba ASP (Toshiba authorized service partner) in your country.

Camileo X100 1 video but uploads 2 why

Why when i upload a video from my camileo x100 to my PC i get the same video twice,im recording in the highest res and when on pc is only 30 fps not 60 ? any help on either of these questions would be greatly appreciated

Im not X100 owner but I have Camileo H30 that is the previous model I think and it generates AVI movie files and I can use these files with every program. Sound and picture work properly, even the camera software is not installed.
I dont know this Vegas Video 8 program but normally every program can handle avi files. Check also the manufacture page of this video program for an update.

Problem with Camileo x100 screen/ warranty problem

Hello all.
I got the Camileo x100 as a gift from someone, who bought it off of a home shopping network. The camera was working out great for me until about a week ago when a went out to film a video. All the filming went great, but when I got home, the camera screen was totally white. The camera still took good video, and still transfered the video over to my computer, but I am unable to see what I am filming now. Next, I came to this website to get the camera repaired, but when I put in the serial number for the camera, it said my 1 year warranty had run out before the person that bought me the gift had even bought it, and phone support ended right around the date that they bought the product. I would just like to report this problem to the community and see if anyone can help. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you ever find out anything out about this? stuck on loading screen. Im having the same issue.

Toshiba Camileo X100 low sound

I dont know its only my camcoder problem or it have all Toshiba Camileo X100.
I recorded at same time with Nokia and toshiba

Those videos was recorded at same time from same position.
And toshiba records very silent. I cant hear what people speaks 1 meter from camera.

I have noticed the same on my Toshiba Camileo H20 but generally speaking sound is OK and I can hear everything very well.
Of course it will be much better if the sound could be a little bit louder but it is OK.
Im afraid this is normal and I don't know what can be done about that. You know, there is no setting for mic volume. So I think we must live with it.

How to detect baby crying using labview and webcam?

Hi, I am new to labVIEW. I have a project that it requires me to develope a application to detect various types of baby crying using labVIEW.The hardware we use will be webcam or kinect xbox 360. The system for my computer is windows 7. I used to try to create a threshold frequency to detect baby crying,but it not work well. So I want to ask what else method should I use to develop this application that can differentiate baby crying with other kind of sound( like normal talk, music...) correctly? As I just start learning labVIEW, hope the method to be easy to understand. Thanks.

This is not really a LabVIEW question, but a signal processing question. Do you have a set of crying sounds in order to be able to calibrate whatever algorthm you are trying to implement?

Re: Camileo X100 - cannot edit the files

I bought the Camileo X100 and have been frustrated ever since i got it.
I cannot edit the files with anything, Adobe premiere CS5 sees them as only Audio, Sony Vegas Studio HD 9.0 only see them as video with no audio.
I've tried to convert them but, it converts with no sound and poor picture quality or with no video and just sound. VirtualDub gives me an error when i try to convert with it aswell. Quicktime still can't play them even after instaling the Divx package.
It seems counter productive to make a camera that has codecs that are this hard to edit.
I ran Gspot and it says H.264/Mpeg-4 AVC supposedly this is standard but, but the issue i think is that it's container is AVI.
So my question is, should i return this camera? or is there a way to edit on Vegas or Premiere?

I figured it out on my own. What you need to do is Download Windows Movie Maker 11. Import 1 file at a time and set whatever resolution you want (preferably the same resolution you brought it in as) But make sure when you're saving your video set the bitrate at 10000. So for example my video is 1920x1080, so my export is 1920x1080 at 10,000 bit rate and 30 FPS. With these setting there is absolutely NO loss of video quality. This will work with your S10 too. And the files become editable in Premiere CS5 and Sony Vegas. Have fun!

Cannot take a picture with Camileo X100?

After connecting my Camileo X100 with the RCA connector to my LG LCD TV, browsing through my pictures and eventually unplugging the camera, something wierd happened.
After I turned the camera on and tried to take a picture, nothing happened. I can't take a picture, shoot a video, zoom in and out or set the picture and video preferences and settings. I can only browse through the pictures and videos that I took before. It seems like my camera is stuck in the same mode when it was plugged to my TV.
I removed the battery several times and nothing. The only button that is responding is the playback button and when trying to take a picture, only the (white, green, or red) square is shown. Please, help :(

This is my second question that I answered by myself but still, don't delete it if other users get this kind of problem.
I basically turned on the camera, plugged it into the TV with my RCA connector, turned off the camera, unplugged it and turned it on again.

I am trying to use a microsoft webcam & set up video/voice communication on MSN messenger. I can do instant messaging but have had no success with video. I have a wrt54g wireless router - It seems to be start to connect but then gives off a connection or time out message - Any one have problems doing this or a solution ?
Linksys chat suggested it may be related to the firewall & maybe updating the firmware - but looking at other messages here, am skeptical -- I had similar connection problems with AIM.

hi... logon to the router's setup page and try reducing the MTU values to 1365,click on the "applciations & gaming" try forwarding 6901 port for Voice communication...and as far as Video communication concern you need to forward the port for the Webcam that you are using, get in touch with the Microsoft and get the port no. of the particular camera that you are using.. and forward it on the router's setup page...also make sure that you have latest firmware installed on the router...check whether it works for you or not and let me know...

Source (VNC Viewer) Laptop - Linux - I use Vncviewer here.
Target - Mac mini.
For example :- When i connect PC1(Win) to PC2(Win) using MS RDP then i can use PC1's resource on PC2 remotely.
