Can CarPlay be retrofitted to my 2013 Honda Accord

I own a 2013 Honda Accord with full touch screen radio and controls.  Since the touch configuration already exists, can the software in the car be updated to the CarPlay configuration?

  • Problem with IOS8 update and my 2013 Honda Accord

Updated my iPod touch with IOS8 and now it acts weird while connected to the stereo of my 2013 Honda Accord with a USB cable.  When I start the car and set the stereo to iPod, it will grab a random song from the iTunes Library and start playing it.  I can manually change the music on the iPod but the stereo display still shows the random song title and none of the stereo controls (including those on the steering wheel) will control the iPod.  The random song title will stay on the stereo for a  random length of time.  I will be changing the music selection from the iPod and all of a sudden the stereo display will show the correct song and the radio controls will work.  Something is missing here regarding the communication between the car stereo and the iPod.  Anyone hear of a Honda software update to work out the bugs?

  • HT1476 iphone 5 usb does not charge in my 2013 Honda Accord.  Is there a fix for this issue?

iphone 5 usb does not charge in my 2013 Honda Accord.  Is there a fix for this issue?  It will connect via bluetooth but when I go to connect the usb charger it states that it is not compatible or you never get the charging display on your iPhone 5.  It charges just fine when I use the AC charger in the house.  At first I thought it may have been the cord but the same cord works fine in the house too.  This causes problems when you take long trips and don't have any way to charge your phone while on the road.  Are there any upcoming fixes/iupdates either to the software or usb cord that will fix this?

  • I am trying to figure out how I can get my library transferred to the Honda Accord 16gb hard drive?  I have purchased music of off I tunes and do not have the physical CD.  Anybody with any suggestions on how this can be done?

I am trying to figure out how I can transfer my library to my new 2014 honda accord that has an internal 16gb hard drive.  The manual for the car says that it needs to be original CD's but I have purchased alot of the albums/songs I have from I tunes therefore not having the original CD.  Can someone help me with this as I dont want to load each CD into the player to record and have some albums that I purchased off of I tunes that I would like to be on the hard drive.
    Thanks Any Help is appreciated.

If Honda says you need the original CDs, you need the original CDs.

  • Why can't I send text messages through my 2013 Honda Accord?

It uses the Handsfreelink system, and is connected properly (seemingly at least) through Bluetooth. It will read the messages as I receive them, however it will not show the sender, and when I attempt to reply (when the vehicle is stopped) it says the message failed and prompts me to try again, which yields the same results.
While I'm certainly not techno-savvy at all, I'm not completely moronic, but I cannot figure out why I'm unable to send a reply. The "call" feature works. The music works. Everything seems to be functioning fine, except replying to text messages.

My experience has been that each dealership has an expert on making these systems work.  I'd find out who that is at your dealership.  Their name and direct phone number can really come in handy.  These systems always seem to be a bit finnicky, what with various device and system software updates occurring constantly.

  • 2013 Honda Civic Si, SMS Text Message Function says "Unsupported Device" when trying to use this feature with iPhone 5. Can anyone help with this?

In my 2013 Honda Civic Si, I'm trying to use the SMS Text Message Function, but keep getting the error message, "Unsupported Device".
I use an iPhone 5 with latest iOS 6.1.4.
HandsFreeLink works perfectly fine with my iPhone for voice calls and for streaming Bluetooth Audio. Does text messaging not work because of iMessage? Does anyone have any suggestions for this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

In looking for a 2013 Honda Civic (LX model, no Navi), the text feature was very interesting and important to me. Why not have my texts available on the dash and read to me rather than messing with my phone. Anyway I won't go into the whole thing about safety while you're in your driving and all that. We all know what we should and shouldn't do. Anyways...
I spoke to a salesman who said that this feature was not compatible with the iPhone, only BBs. Of course this didn't impress me and I found it hard to believe that Honda would restrict themselves like that. Anyway, a few searches on the web later and Honda shows that the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 are compatible for receiving texts through the car, just not sending them. I believe you need a minimum of iOS 5+ for it to work though.
Once I found this the salesman and I did some testing with our phones. He has a 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and mine is a 4 with iOS 6.1.3. Initially we setup the phone using the Bluetooth config on the Civic's iMID display. It was setup and hands-free calling tested o.k. Next the texting was tested. Both of us have iMessage turned on. Neither of us could get the messages we would send each other (1 of us had our phone setup with the car, the other sent the text and vice versa). The messages were received by the phones, just not the car). When we would go under the Text Message section, it would say "Unsupported Device". I knew that couldn't be as Honda said it was compatible. After more web searches and a phone call to Honda by the salesman, I found the following.
    1) It seems like the person who had their phone paired with the Civic had to disable iMessage to start getting texts. The salesman still had it enabled on his though when he sent me texts (as SMS) and the Civic got them so both people aren't necessarily required to disable it. Now under the Text Message section, it would list the messages received.
    2) I changed the Notifications on my phone for Messages from Banner to Alerts. Once I did this it started to work. The texts were showing up on the car. I had read where another person had tried this successfully but then changed it back to Banner and it continued to work. I experienced the same thing.
Granted this wasn't extensive testing but I was able to get it to do something closer to what I wanted. I'm not sure why Apple and Honda can't put their heads together to make sending texts work on the car but maybe someday it will work when enough people complain. It's kind of a disappointment that I couldn't get iMessage to work but I haven't given up hope yet. As it's a proprietary protocol, I can see Honda not supporting it though.
    Hope this helps someone out!
    FYI I bought car!

  • Iphone 4s will not reply to text with 2013 Honda Civic navigation system

I just purchased a 2013 Honda Civic with the navigation system. I currently have an iphone 4s. I have synced the phone to the system and all works well. The iss ue is with replying to a text message that comes through on the display window ( while driving you can only have system read message and view it when you are in park. This is the way the function works.
After hearing the text read back to me, there is an option to reply ( while driving you can only use a few preprogram commands, like " I am driving right now" etc
Under the highlighted box "READ" is the box "REPLY" but it never becomes highlighted in order to reply.
Does anyone know if either ( apple, Honda or navigation system has a fix / software to be downloaded in order to have the "REPLY" function work?
Would be interested to know if anyone has run into this issue with the iphone or is there a phone that does work.
Another thought, I wonder if it is a phone provider issue ( ATT / Verizon   etc...)
    Thanks

My iphone 5s Bluetooth no longer works in my 2014 honda accord, ever since i updated the software two months ago. Can anyone help?

Problems with Bluetooth connections are generally traced back to the vehicle. If you search here in the forum you will find a number of posts with issues connecting with Honda vehicles. Try removing the phone from the vehicle's list of Bluetooth devices. Then try removing the vehicle from the iPhone's list of Bluetooth devices. Then place both devices back in discovery/pairing mode and try to connect them. You may need to take the device to the dealer to check for software updates.
Next, I understand it used to connect, however software updates for the iPhone will load the latest Bluetooth stack into the phone and vehicles do not always get updated as often. I have to ask,
Are you making sure you are in park before attempting the sync?   The car won't allow you to do it in motion, whether or not you're the passenger.
