Can CC and CS6 be installed and active on the same desktop?

Only one of the CS series can be installed and active on a single computer. Is this true with CC and CS6?

Only one of the CS series can be installed and active on a single computer.
Where did you hear that? That's simply completely untrue. Using multiple versions of CS products never has been an issue and neither is it for CC and CS6. Each major version uses it's own unique activation.

    What do you mean by "user name"? They can, probably will, use the same iTunes Apple ID, if that's what you're asking.

  • Can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?

    I'm looking at getting an Intel iMac which will let me throw away my old PC - Yeah!
    I will have a couple of Win apps that I will need to hang on to (Quicken - Quicken for Mac is horrible, but that's another tghread). Anyway, can Bootcamp and Parallels share the same Windows applications and data?
    My thought would be to allow my wife to access Quicken from Parallels and not have to reboot. She will only need lightweight access and the overhead of running virtualization wouldn't impact her. I, on the other hand, would want to occasionally boot natively into Windows and run the same application with the same datafile. Is this possible?
    Thanks and looking forward to joining the MacIntel world!

    Thanks for all of the freplies. I suspected that BootCamp and Parallels could not shar ethe same partition, but wanted to verify. To address some of the other posts:
    Re: Quicken vs MoneyDance - I looked at MoneyDance a while back and while it is comparable to Quicken for Mac, it isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows (ergo, Quicken for Mac isn't comparable to Quicken for Windows!). But, as I said, that is a topic for another thread!
    Re: Using Bootcamp/Parallels for only one app: I actually have several apps that I still need access to on Windows. I work with many business applications than only run/are supported on Windows as well as receive some complex Office documents which Office for Mac cannot handle. Quicken (for Windows 2007) was just the best example of a consumer app where I could see wanting access from both OS X and Windows.

    Will Verizon stop encrypting iPhone sim cards so users can surf and talk simultaneously?

    I can prove that this is not the case. I travel abroad monthly and have sim cards for these 2 countries i frequent and i can surf and talk at the same time. The claim that it needs another antenna does not support my findings. Can we be more transparent please. As a costumer i find it highly inconvenient to have to hang up a call with someone just to access an email.

  • Please , I wonder if I can subscribe for more than one sync accout on the same Desktop? I mean that we are multi-users for the same desktop , so we need some privacy.

    I and my brothers and sisters use the same desktop , so we need to subscribe for more than a single sync account , and I don't know how. Thank you

    If you each have a separate Windows account then each of you should automatically have a separate Firefox profile.
    If you use the same Windows account (not much privacy in that case) then you will have to create a separate profile for each of you and a desktop shortcut to start each profile.

  • Can CF and ASP Access the Same Database?

    Hello. I'm about to go into beta with a ColdFusion 8 site I
    just wrote, and I've just realized there could be a problem I
    haven't anticipated. There's another site, written in ASP, which
    will accessing the same data at the same time. The data are in
    FoxPro for DOS, which (if I have the terminology right) is a 'file
    server' database. Both my site and the ASP site will be accessing
    it through ODBC. I will be accessing it on a read only basis, and I
    believe the ASP site accesses it read only as well. However, other
    employees in the company are constantly accessing it read/write.
    The ASP site has been already up and running for some time,
    and the office manager (it's a small company) finds that he is able
    to avoid conflicts by first stopping the ASP server each morning,
    then starting FoxPro, then re-starting the ASP server. (I do not
    mean the IIS server, but a little EXE written by the ASP
    programmer, which puts up its own little window with 'start' and
    'stop' buttons on it.)
    However, I find that on my own PC, using the free Developer
    version of ColdFusion and accessing my site as localhost, if a DBF
    (database file) is opened in FoxPro (even if no one is currently
    writing to it), then my CF web site cannot access it, and vice
    versa. That is, if I start FoxPro first and open the DBF of
    interest, my web site can't access that DBF. And conversely, if I
    access it first via my web site, then FoxPro can't access it. In
    other words, the solution which works for the office manager and
    his ASP site does not work for me with CF on my local PC.
    Will matters be different in their system, where I will be
    installing my site tomorrow, along with the Standard version of CF
    8? If it matters, the FoxPro data and the Web server will be
    different boxes linked by a network. The operating system is
    Windows 2003 if I recall correctly.
    Should I be saying 'Oops!' right about now?
    I can probably come up with a workaround by having FoxPro
    write a record to an alternate DBF every time the DBF of interest
    to my site is updated, but will I have to do this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Not much that can be done to make the database robust and
    handle
    simultaneous transactions. But you could wrap all your CFML
    that
    accesses this resource in named <cflock ...> tags so
    that they are
    single threaded, thus restricting CF to one access at at
    time. Then
    wrap all of this up in a <cftry><cfcatch...>
    blocks to gracefully handle
    when the database is locked up by some other user/process.
    You will still have many times when the CF application will
    not be able
    to access the resource do to locking issues, but it will
    handle this
    gracefully and not just FAIL.
    Of course this will have serious performance, throughput and
    scalability
    consequences. But I suspect if you are using something like
    FoxPro you
    are not building an application expected to handle heavy
    load.

  • Can iPhoto and Lightroom share the same master file?

    I have loaded all my images into iPhoto. Lightroom cannot see the files until I made alias folders and placed them in Pictures. Now lightroom can see them. Lightroom is non destructive and should not damage the masters. Is that the same for iPhoto? Any problems in sharing the same master file?

    I have 20k images that take up 100G. Eighty percent are JPEG and have already been edited. iPhoto seems ideal for this group. Kids and grandkids like to go down memory lane and this seems to be easy to navigate. The remaining 20% are mostly raw files and need editing. I already have Lightroom and had been using it in my old PC. I am new to modern Mac’s having changed over to PC from Mac 10 years ago. I loaded all my photo files to iPhoto not knowing that the master file was hidden.
    Lightroom is a great editor. Almost all the advanced photographers in our club use Lightroom for 90% of their images. Ten % require layer capability so they use Photoshop CS5 or Elements. By the way there is now a layer plug in for Lightroom that works pretty well.
    The work flow I envision, if possible, would be to enter new raw images into Lightroom and edit. The master raw images could go anywhere. Could they reside in the iPhoto master file? The export would be jpeg to iPhoto. For existing images I would use the iPhoto master list to import the 20% group to Lightroom. You don’t really import the images but borrow the image. The masters are never altered. When you export an edited jpeg, the master stays unaltered in it’s original file. Does iPhoto operate the same way.
    I read where Lightroom jpeg images cause a problem for iPhoto. Still a problem?

  • Can win7 and winxp share the same library?

    I have a dual boot Dell pc.  XP and Win7.  iTunes on XP uses a lib on an external device defined as Drive M:.  iTunes on Win7 sees the same external device as drive N: and won't acknowledge the iTunes library.

    See make a split library portable. You want the library files as well as media on the external drive. You should probably tweak things so that both systems use the same letter, but once the library is in the correct shape it should work regardless.

  • CPO licensing - Can dev and prod share the same license ?

    We have used the trial version for about 3month now for my dev VM, we have ordered server and license from cisco, but infortunately the server are not ready yet. Can I use the production license we bought on my dev VM and later on my production VM ?
    Thanks,
    Cendrine.

    PO customer licenses are node locked to a specific server.  You will need a selarate license code for each system you stand up.  This includes trial extensions for customers.
    When you install a fresh system, you get a trial license with the install which is good for 30 days after the initial install. Any licenses after that are node locked.

  • Can LifeDrive and T/X use the same desktop?

    I am currently using a Lifedrive with a Windows XP desktop (version 4.1.4 and HotSync Manager 6.01). I was given a T/X with a dead digitizer. I replaced the digitizer and now the basic T/X works great.
    My problem is I can not get the T/X to HotSync with my current desktop. Should I be able to HotSync my T/X with my current 4.1.4 desktop? If so, would I have to run the 4.1.4 installer a second time to get it to add the T/X to the desktop?
    If I understand what I have read, I can not upgrade to the latest desktop, 6.2, because it does not support the Lifedrive.
    Thanks
    Post relates to: LifeDrive

    Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
    Yes, you should be able to sync both the LifeDrive and TX to the same desktop.  But you must give them separate and distinct Hotsync IDs...they cannot sync to the same Hotsync name because they require different system files which won't play nicely with each other.
    Exactly what happens when you connect the TX and try to sync?  If you Hard Reset the TX, then connect and Hotsync, the software should recognize that the TX is a blank slate and let you create a new Hotsync ID for it.

  • Ipod nano (5th generation) - want to use headphones and charge at the same time

    I have an ipod nano (5th generation).  Do I need a special set of headphones to use the headphone jack and charge the ipod at the same time?

    The iPod nanos have a 30 pin dock connector and a headphone jack. When you charge the iPod you use the dock connector therefore you can use and charge at the same time. You cannot use and charge the iPod shuffle at the same time. You might have the two mixed up.

  • Hi there, Will be possible listen and charge at the same time my iPod shuffle in my car?

    Hi there, Will be possible listen and charge at the same time my iPod shuffle in my car? I have got a jack going to my sound system the issue i would like to solve is charging at the same time

    Since the shuffle (except for the 1st gen shuffle) uses the same "port" (the headphones jack) for sound output and charging, there is no way to do both concurrently.
    NOTE:  You can charge and play at the same time on the old white 1st gen shuffle that looks like a USB flash drive.

  • Reading and recording at the same time with AudioUnit

    Hi,
    I am trying to read and record at the same time on the iPhone with AudioUnit. For the reading part I made an AUGraph which works fine, constructed like that:
    NewAUGraph(&_graph);
    _outputUnitComponentDescription.componentType = kAudioUnitType_Output;
    _outputUnitComponentDescription.componentSubType = kAudioUnitSubType_RemoteIO;
    _outputUnitComponentDescription.componentManufacturer = kAudioUnitManufacturer_Apple;
    _outputUnitComponentDescription.componentFlags = 0;
    _outputUnitComponentDescription.componentFlagsMask = 0;
    AUGraphAddNode(_graph, &_outputUnitComponentDescription, &_outputNode);
    _mixerUnitComponentDescription.componentType = kAudioUnitType_Mixer;
    _mixerUnitComponentDescription.componentSubType = kAudioUnitSubType_MultiChannelMixer;
    _mixerUnitComponentDescription.componentManufacturer = kAudioUnitManufacturer_Apple;
    _mixerUnitComponentDescription.componentFlags = 0;
    _mixerUnitComponentDescription.componentFlagsMask = 0;
    AUGraphAddNode(_graph, &_mixerUnitComponentDescription, &_mixerNode);
    AUGraphConnectNodeInput(_graph, _mixerNode, 0, _outputNode, 0);
    AUGraphOpen(_graph);
    AUGraphNodeInfo(_graph, _outputNode, NULL, &_outputUnit);
    AUGraphNodeInfo(_graph, _mixerNode, NULL, &_mixerUnit);
    _generatorUnitComponentDescription.componentType = kAudioUnitType_MusicDevice;
    _generatorUnitComponentDescription.componentSubType = kAudioUnitSubType_RemoteIO;
    _generatorUnitComponentDescription.componentManufacturer = kAudioUnitManufacturer_Apple;
    _generatorUnitComponentDescription.componentFlags = 0;
    _generatorUnitComponentDescription.componentFlagsMask = 0;
    for(int i=0; i< [_urlList count]; i++)
    SoundBuffer* soundBufferTemp = [_bufferSoundList objectAtIndex:i];
    AURenderCallbackStruct renderCallbackStruct;
    renderCallbackStruct.inputProc = MyFileRenderCallback;
    renderCallbackStruct.inputProcRefCon = soundBufferTemp;
    AudioStreamBasicDescription* inputAsbd = [soundBufferTemp getASBD];
    err = AudioUnitSetProperty(_mixerUnit,
    kAudioUnitProperty_StreamFormat,
    kAudioUnitScope_Input,
    i,
    inputAsbd,
    sizeof(AudioStreamBasicDescription));
    UInt32 zero = 0;
    err = AudioUnitSetProperty(_mixerUnit,
    kAudioOutputUnitProperty_EnableIO,
    kAudioUnitScope_Input,
    kInputBus,
    &zero,
    sizeof(zero));
    err = AUGraphSetNodeInputCallback(_graph,
    _mixerNode,
    i,
    &renderCallbackStruct);
    This works well, for the recording AudioUnit I did the following:
    OSStatus err;
    AudioComponentDescription audioComponentDescription;
    AudioComponent audioComponent;
    audioComponentDescription.componentType = kAudioUnitType_Output;
    audioComponentDescription.componentSubType = kAudioUnitSubType_RemoteIO;
    audioComponentDescription.componentManufacturer = kAudioUnitManufacturer_Apple;
    audioComponentDescription.componentFlags = 0;
    audioComponentDescription.componentFlagsMask = 0;
    audioComponent = AudioComponentFindNext(NULL, &audioComponentDescription);
    err = AudioComponentInstanceNew(audioComponent, &_audioUnit);
    UInt32 size;
    size = sizeof(AudioStreamBasicDescription);
    err = AudioUnitGetProperty(_audioUnit,
    kAudioUnitProperty_StreamFormat,
    kAudioUnitScope_Input,
    1,
    &_soundFileDataFormat,
    &size);
    _soundFileDataFormat.mSampleRate = 44100.00;
    AudioUnitSetProperty(_audioUnit,
    kAudioUnitProperty_StreamFormat,
    kAudioUnitScope_Input,
    kInputBus,
    &_soundFileDataFormat,
    size);
    AudioUnitSetProperty(_audioUnit,
    kAudioUnitProperty_StreamFormat,
    kAudioUnitScope_Output,
    kOutputBus,
    &_soundFileDataFormat,
    size);
    AURenderCallbackStruct renderCallbackStruct;
    renderCallbackStruct.inputProc = MyRecorderCallback;
    renderCallbackStruct.inputProcRefCon = self;
    UInt32 one = 1;
    UInt32 zero = 0;
    err = AudioUnitSetProperty(_audioUnit,
    kAudioOutputUnitProperty_EnableIO,
    kAudioUnitScope_Input,
    kInputBus,
    &one,
    sizeof(one));
    err = AudioUnitSetProperty(_audioUnit,
    kAudioOutputUnitProperty_EnableIO,
    kAudioUnitScope_Output,
    kOutputBus,
    &zero,
    sizeof(zero));
    err = AudioUnitSetProperty (_audioUnit,
    kAudioOutputUnitProperty_SetInputCallback,
    kAudioUnitScope_Global,
    0,
    &renderCallbackStruct,
    sizeof(AURenderCallbackStruct));
    err = AudioUnitInitialize(_audioUnit);
    Then in I setup a file to write in:
    - (void) openFile
    OSStatus err;
    err = ExtAudioFileCreateWithURL((CFURLRef) _soundFileUrl,
    kAudioFileCAFType,
    &_soundFileDataFormat,
    NULL,
    kAudioFileFlags_EraseFile,
    &_extAudioFileRef);
    err = ExtAudioFileSetProperty(_extAudioFileRef,
    kExtAudioFileProperty_ClientDataFormat,
    sizeof(AudioStreamBasicDescription),
    &_soundFileDataFormat);
    err = ExtAudioFileWriteAsync(_extAudioFileRef,
    0,
    NULL);
    All this things works well (I check by printing err in the log which I removed here for clarity).
    And then in the callback for recording I do the following:
    static OSStatus MyRecorderCallback(void *inRefCon,
    AudioUnitRenderActionFlags* inActionFlags,
    const AudioTimeStamp* inTimeStamp,
    UInt32 inBusNumber,
    UInt32 inNumFrames,
    AudioBufferList* ioData)
    OSStatus err= noErr;
    AudioUnitRecorder* auRec = (AudioUnitRecorder*) inRefCon;
    [auRec allocateAudioBufferList:1 size:inNumFrames*4];
    err = AudioUnitRender(auRec.audioUnit,
    inActionFlags,
    inTimeStamp,
    inBusNumber,
    inNumFrames,
    auRec.audioBufferList);
    err = ExtAudioFileWriteAsync(auRec.extAudioFileRef,
    inNumFrames,
    auRec.audioBufferList);
    return err;
    (Then I close the file after recording at the same time I close the AudioUnit)
    Now the strange thing is that all this works perfectly well in the simulator: I can record and play at the same time but on the device, the callback for recording is not ran (I check by trying to print something in the log in the callback function.) which men no writing in the file and an empty file in the end.
    Any one has any idea of what could be causing this?
    Thanks
    Alexandre

    Just in case some one might need it, I solved my problem:
    I simply needed to initialize the AudioSession before playing/recording. I did so with the following code:
    OSStatus err;
    AudioSessionInitialize(NULL, NULL, MyInterruptionListener, self);
    UInt32 sessionCategory = kAudioSessionCategory_PlayAndRecord;
    err = AudioSessionSetProperty (kAudioSessionProperty_AudioCategory,
    sizeof (sessionCategory),
    &sessionCategory);
    AudioSessionSetActive(TRUE);

  • HT4818 Can you use both Bootcamp and Parallels with the same Windows 7 installed

    I have Parallels installed with Windows 7.  Can I use both Bootcamp and Parallels on the same machine depending on whether I just want to work in Windows all day (Bootcamp) or alternate during the same session (Parallels)?

    You can, yes. But there is a complication: once you activate windows it will only be activated for one of the two methods you use. So, let's say you install into boot camp and activate windows. You can then install Parallels and it will find your boot camp installation, but when running in Parallels, Windows will report that it is not activated. Or, you can activate it in Parallels and when running in Boot Camp Windows will report that it is not activated. The reason for this is because Windows thinks it is running on different computers depending on how you boot it. This may not be an issue for you if you run Windows a lot one way and just occasionally the other way, so be sure to activate Windows in whichever method you use more often. Hope this helps!
