Can CC applications be downloaded, then installed in different location?

My home computer has a slow internet connection. I have access to other computers (work, parents' home, etc.) that have much faster Internet connections. For most applications, I will download the installation package from on a faster connection, copy the installation files to a flash/jump/thumb drive, then copy the files to my home computer and perform the actual installation. If registration is required, the home Internet connection is suitable fast for that. The main problem that I encounter is download large installation files (PS, AI, Lightroom, etc.).
Can I download CC apps, copy the installation files to a portable device (flash/jump/thumb drive) and then run the installation from that drive? Or do I have to be connected to the machine that the apps will actually be installed on?

I assume you're talking about the Lion installer? If so, yes, you're allowed to use it on any machines authorized with your Apple ID (which I believe means a maximum of five machines). This is, of course, meant for family use... I'm not sure about business use, but I'd suspect you need one copy per machine at a business. If you're in that situation, you may want to wait for the $69 Lion flash drive Apple will be releasing next month sometime, as that won't be tied to an Apple ID. But check with Apple to be sure on that.

Download / Installation - Want to download and install on different drives. How?

About to install the CS6 Production Premium trial via download assistant before making a purchase and I would like to know if it is possible to download and install to one drive and then move installation to a completely seperate drive without messing it all up?
The main reason for this is that I do not download straight to SSD unless it is just some quick updates etc and instead have other drives that get write hammered and looking at the installation process I dont see a way to download to a diff drive other than the one you want the program on as an end result?

How can I remotely access my computer from a different location on Apple Remote Desktop?

I downloaded Apple Remote Desktop and am trying to access our computer at our church that is in the auditorium and work on slides for ProPresenter from my office which is on a different network. The Mac Pro, which is in the auditorium, is connected to a Netgear wireless router. I would also want to be able to have access to observe and control the screen on the Mac Pro whether I am in my office or at my house. I have tried everything from going to portforward.com, followed those instructions, did port forwarding, used ipchicken.com to get my external IP and made sure that the Mac Pro had a static internal IP address and made sure the computer had access for remote management. Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! Works fine when it is on the same wireless network, but I need access being on a different wireless network. Thanks!

So the steps listed bellow assume some things. They assume that the Airport Extreme Router your configuring is connected directly to the internet connection. And that the Airport Extreme is the only router between your computers and the internet.
That means we're talking about say a DSL modem plugged directly into the Airport Extreme, or a cable modem. in ether case, this assumes that said modem, is not acting as an internet router.
If your modem has multiple ethernet ports on it, or has a little antenna sticking out of it, then your modem is probable also a router, and these steps listed bellow will probable not work.
Also these steps are so one person, can connect to one computer at your work.
Open Airport Utility:
go to the dock
Click on the finder
go to the menu bar
Click on the "Go" menu
Chose "Utilities" from the "Go" Menu
double Click on "AirPort Utility"
Access the Base Station:
Double Click on your Airport Extreme BaseStation that is your internet connection router.
a new window should pop up with your Airport Base Station as the Window Name
Configure Static Address for the computer you want to connect to via ARD:
Click on the internet Icon from the toolbar
Click on the "DHCP" tab
For "DHCP Reservations:" Click on the "+" button
For the "Description" put "ARD"
For "Reserve Address by:" set "DHCP Client ID"
Click the "Continue" button
For "DHCP Client ID:" set "ARD"
write down the number in "IPv4" address field
Click the "Done" Button
Configure routing to ARD computer:
Click on the "Advanced" icon from the tool bar.
Click on the "Port Mapping" tab
Click on the "+" button
for "Service:" Chose "Apple Remote Desktop"
for "Private IP Address:" copy the exact IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8)"

For the active network connection, (the connection on the left side with the green dot), click on it

for the "DHCP Cient ID: field put "ARD".

Click the "Apply" buttonNOTE: Under "Status" you should see "(connection name) is connected to (airport base station name) and has the IP address (IP address)." the "(IP address)" address displayed should match the IP address you wrote down in step "3. 8."
Find out what your public internet IP address is.
On the computer you wish to connect to over the internet, gotohttp://whatismyipaddress.com/
when the web page loads, you should see "IP Information:" fallow by a number like 192.168.0.1, write down what ever number it is.
At this point you should be able to connect to the computer remotely
connect to the internet from another location.
open Apple Remote Desktop
go to the file menu
chose connect to computer using ip address
set the address to the address to the IP address you wrote down for step 6. 2.
use the same password as you used to connect to the computer at work using ARD.
So here the catch. If your router gets reset... well then your going to have to configure it again. Also all the same rules you have to connect to the computer at work, also apply to connecting to the computer from over the local network. That means your computer need to be on or sleeping. And if it's sleeping it need to be configure to wake for network access.
Also some network connections change. When it comes to internet connections, some connections are static IP, while other connections are DHCP. If your connection is static... great! if it's DHCP, your address may change. If it dose.. well then your ability to connect will break. And then you'd have to do step 6 & 7 again.
Of corse there are ways around this. But that's kind of another conversation.
Some internet locations may block your ability to connect to your computer at work. This is very common at schools, and companies. Basically any place that tries to control your ability to browse the internet, may block remote access to computers; because a remote computer would completely by pass their web filter.
ALSO there is an easier option. As far as setup. There are programs designed to make remotely accessing your mac as easy as possible. For instance there is LogMeIn or Slack. With both of these programs, it's simple. make sure your computer is always on. Then install the software. Create an account with the service. And then you can connect to the computer almost any where by going to their website.
This option requires no router configuration. It handles DHCP. It's designed to work in as many locations as possible.

Is it possible to install different CS3 components in different locations or must they all be installed in the same place?
I attempted to install the first set of components, and when I went to install the second set, it only allowed my to add them to the same location that the others were in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is best to let the installer put the apps in the default location in the applications folder. there seem to enough problems with the updater why make the problem worse.

RMAN Backup then moving to different location.

Any help is much appreciated.
I have a situation where I must backup a 1TB database to a different location than where the database resides using rman, there is also an rman catalog being used, the backup location is NFS mounted on the database server.
If I backup directly to the NFS mount, it takes about 5 hours.
If I backup locally on the server the database resides, the backup is completed in just over 1 hour.
One option I have is to backup the database locally then immediately after wards copy the backup files to the backup location over NFS. However, when it comes to backing up the database he following day, it assumes the backup no longer exists.
The question is :
If I do 1 level 0 backups and 6 level 1 backups per week and each day rman finds no backup files, how will it know at what point the level 1 backup should start from ? Will the backups valid in the event of a restore ?
In the event of a restore, if I copied over the backup files from the nfs mounted backup location to the local disk, will rman be able to identify that these are the backup files it had created and now can be used for a restore ?
Below are 2 copies of the backup script, Level 0 and level 1 :

Where shall I start?
This is yet again a post where including the four digit version number was considered irrelevant, though functionality of RMAN changes with every new release. Whether this is Oracle 9i or Oracle 10g, who can tell.
It is at least 9i style code, with many misunderstandings on how RMAN works.
First of all, by relocating your backup to a NFS mounted drive you make it unavailable to the catalog.
By running crosscheck the status of the backup will go to expired, so it will not be considered anymore.
Secondly, making a RMAN backup on a NFS device is dangerous. You don't specify an OS (also irrelevant) but I had to observe a backup to a correctly mounted NFS device (with a 32k read buffer and a 32k write buffer) couldn't be restored
in a later stage as the backup was 'corrupt'.
Thirdly, 'restore database' will only consider level 0 backups. This means: when the level 0 backup is no longer available, you can not restore your database, l1 backups are only used in the recover phase.
Fourthly, there are few minor problems in the backup scripts, as when datafile 0 is being backed up the spfile and controlfile are included. Also you don't seem to autobackup the controlfile.
All in all, my crystal ball tells me in the event of disaster, you will have no backup at all.
Time to review this situation. Urgently!

My Firefox 3.6 is setup to download anything automatically in MyDocuments (which I never use).
For security reasons, I designated a different location on my hard drive, where I keep my confidential files.
How do I change this downloading path? I tried to change it by going to "Tools-Options-Save Files To", but it does not work.

I see two downloaded Illustrator files on my MAC after just purchasing CS6: an exe file and a 7x file, whatever that is. Neither opens. How do i get the install going?

My Mac Book Pro needs to re download LION. I formatted my Macintosh HD and tried downloading lion from disk utility. Half way through it gives me gray screen saying i need to restart my computer. I can never finish the download and install. Any other ways

My mac book pro crashed during an update a week ago. Since then I have been forced to fomat my macintosh HD drive and attempt to reinstall lion. Halfway through my download of lion, a grey screen pops up telling me to restart my computer. I do such and then nothing ever happens again, I am just brought back to disk utility every time. Why?!?!?!

You can go to the Apple online store and purcahse a copy of Mountain Lion. This will give you a redemption code, which you can use to download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Unfortuantely, I'm not aware of any other way to legally purchase it. I have never seen Apple release Muontain Lion on DVD.
In terms of Apple Service, they just need the serial number of the machine to check the purcahse date. It is usually correct, to within a few weeks. A quick Google search should give you the correct number to dial.

Why can't I successfully download and install Firefox?

After unsuccessfully trying to remedy Firefox hanging every time I opened it, I uninstalled it and tried re-installing the latest version. This has been another disaster as the first couple of tries I could not even get the download to start. Once downloaded, I started on the install only to have a box appear with a message that Firefox couldn't find the required file (without specifying the file's name) and then it appeared to quit. I've similarly been unable to download a British English version from the Mozilla download site since. While I find Mozilla/Firefox files on searching my hard disk, I have no means of installing.

Then you may have an unstable Internet connection. It takes me less than 1 second to download the complete installer, and I am about 10,000km away from the Adobe download servers.
Try downloading it somewhere with a better connection, e.g. a library, then transfer it using a flash drive.

I want to install the new Mountain Lion onto my iMac but I only have an internet connection at work.
It isn't possible for me to bring the iMac into work to do the install.
Can I somehow download the OS X install file from the App Store via my work HP notebook?
Is it possible to download the OS from the App Store onto a USB stick?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not possible to download ML using a Windows Computer. You need a Mac and be able to log into the App store with your account.

Why can't i save the same bookmarks in different locations?

Why can't I save a bookmark for a particular site in multiple locations? If I already have it saved, for instance, in the bookmarks menu, and I then try to save an additional copy into the bookmarks folder, the copy in the bookmarks menu will disappear. This is incredibly frustrating. Thanks.

Using the "star" at the right end of the Location bar, you can only save to one location.
Using the Bookmark Sidebar (CTRL+B opens and closes the Bookmarks Sidebar), you can drag the icon at the left end of the Location Bar to other locations, one at a time, into a folder (will be placed at the bottom of the items already in the folder) or into any position, including a position within a folder. The image below demonstrates; the image is old, but the method still works. This is the only method that I use for Bookmarking, as I place some Bookmarks in multiple folders and I keep the Bookmarks Sidebar open most of the time for easier access.

I still can't download and install photoshop CS6. How do I download and install and how can I back it up to avoid doing this from the website again?

I already asked and didn't get a very good response. I'm getting frustrated. I paid for CS6 I had it downloaded on my cintiq companion, and then I had to return my cintiq because it was faulty. I have my new one now and need to download CS6 again so I can get to work. I downloaded a free trial of winzip to see if that would help but just got a ton of random files and nothing to click on to install once I downloaded it again. Where can I just plain download and install CS6 again?
In addition is there a way to back it up on a hard drive for future reinstallation if necessary so I don't have to go through all this crap again next time? REALLY hoping for a speedy response. Thank you.

Camera Raw plug-in. How can I download and Install?

For some reason, I don't have the Camera Raw plug-in installed with my Photoshop Elements 11.0 software on my PC. How can I go about downloading and installing the Camera Raw plug-in?

Thanks for replying to my question. First of all, yes I'm sure I don't have
it, or if I do, I'm unable to access it. When I go to File>Open As and
click on the down arrow where you go to make your selection for Camera Raw,
it does not appear as one of my options. All the other options are there,
but not Camera Raw. I went back into Elements 8, 9 and 10, which I also
still have installed, and it does show up there, but not in 11. I did go
into Help>Updates a couple of weeks ago and it said all my updates were
current, so that didn't help. In fact, since then I've installed the trial
version of PSE 12.0 and it shows up there with no problem. My camera is a
Panasonic Linux and every version of PSE, with the exception of 11.0, has no
problem handling my RAW photos, so that is not the answer. After I got your
e-mail today I went back into Help>Updates again for my PSE 11.0
installation and lo and behold it came up with an option to install Camera
Raw version 8.2, which I did, thinking that might just solve my problem.
The installation seemed to download without a hitch, so I think it's lurking
in my system somewhere. The problem I'm having now is figuring out how to
get it into my 11.0 version so that it shows up as an option that I can
click on when I do the Open As command, since it's still not showing up
there. Any additional help you can provide me with would be greatly
appreciated. The reason I so desperately need it in my 11.0 version is
because I'm teaching a SeniorNet PSE 11.0 class and without Camera Raw
installed on my home computer, I'm kinda lost. I've been using 12.0 for the
time being, but my trial period for that is due to run out soon and I hadn't
really planned on buying the 12.0 version this time around. Thanks again for
