Can changing mime types on server fix QTL in Quicktime X

Can changing mime types on server fix QTL in Quicktime X
Is there anything we can do on the server end to make Quicktime X recognize QTL files?
We found that changing .qtl files to .mov files fixed it, but we have hundreds of .qtl files and it would be much better if we could change the mime type on the server to something that Quicktime X would recognize.
-Thanks

OMG! Thank you so much - this has been annoying me for MONTHS! I've been referring other forum posts to this one since it's a solution that actually works!

  • Changing MIME types in OSX

    Everytime someone sends me a Word file, Apple's Mail app always launches AppleWorks to launch the file and does not launch MS Word 98.
    How can I change the Internet Mime types in OSX?
    John

    You don't. Select one of those files, CMD+I, go to the Open With section, select Word 98, and apply to all. If that doesn't fix things, reset the LaunchServices database. Details in http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/resetlaunchservices.html

  • Changed mime type associations !

    I recently installed gimp, and now when I open any downloaded pdf files, they are opened in gimp.
    Files previously downloaded and saved are however opened in 'evince'. I use open-box, Chromium, Rox-filer and evince, as DE, browser, file-manager and document viewer respectively.
    I searched the wiki and found two entries that I thought might help, Default Applications and Custom file associations, I've tried both user specific options in these pages, here are the files I created:-
    [bance@archbox ~]$ cat .local/share/applications/defaults.list
    [Default Applications]
    pdf=evince.desktop
    [bance@archbox ~]$ cat .local/share/applications/evince.desktop
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=Evince
    Exec=/usr/bin/evince
    MimeType=application/x-evince
    Icon=evince
    Terminal=false
    Type=Application
    Categories=DocumentViewer

    Neither of these has worked, do the files look ok? Have I made a mistake somewhere?
    OK whilst writing this post, I noticed that I have a file /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache, It contains a list of mime type associations, would editing this work?
    TIA Steve

    you need!! the inode/directory setting in the mimetype list.  That's what chromium reads to autopen your file manager.
    Make sure it matches the .desktop file appropriate for your file manager.  In the case of spacefm, it is not spacefm.desktop as you might expect, it is spacefm-folder-handler.desktop.
    Check your .desktop files for your fm.
    If you're still having trouble, you might want to post your mimeapps.list
    I noticed in post1 you were using defaults.list instead.  Reading the wiki is not super clear on this, but since I downloaded the pkg 'mimeo' I used mimeapps.list instead.
    I assume you read the file extension portion of the chromium part of the wiki:

  • Changing MIME Types

    Hi,
    I have a problem in downloading .xlsx or .docx, or .pptx files from the KM.
    The above mentioned file types get opened as a 'zip' file instead of directly opening as the file.
    I don't have any problem in opening .xls or .doc.
    I added the file types in System Config->Utilities->MIME Types.
    But still the problem remains the same.
    Regards.

    Thanks Sandeep.
    Restarting worked.

  • Changing MIME types in Vista

    Hey all.
    I'm having problems with Quicktime and Windows Vista. Essentially, I can no longer view PNG files in either IE7 or Firefox. The Quicktime plugin indicates it's handling PNG files rather than the built-in programs being able to handle them. I've seen that this problem may be due to Quicktime's MIME settings. However, the "MIME Settings" button simply doesn't work in Windows Vista - it redirects you to plain old program settings.
    Is there some flat file or registry setting I can edit which will do the same thing as the preferences menu I can no longer reach? It's getting really annoying.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, please help with this, I can't seem to figure it out either, whenever I click "MIME Settings", it takes me to the Set Default Programs window

  • It won't send my security question information to my email so I can change it? Anyway to fix this?

    I recently updated my password and my email on iTunes, and every time Iog in it tells me I need to answer my security questions, which it has been a lot of years so I have to admit I forgot them, anytime I try to send the security information to my email it never shows up in my inbox, I've checked spam as well
    My other email account before I recently changed it is locked and I can no longer access it or re-open it to see if it might have been sent to that, what do I do?

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • Mime-type question Gnome

    In Gnome I noticed something very strange. If I take an HTML file and name it helloworld.htm or helloworld.html then it shows up as a Mozilla bookmark with a mozilla bookmark icon. If I change the name to just "helloworld" then it lists as an html page.
    This isn't a huge problem, mostly aesthetic because the html icon is nicer, but does anyone have any idea of how to get the files with html extensions to show up as html pages and not bookmarks?

  • MIME type of attachments in CRM

    Hi there,
    could you please assist with the following question.
    There is an attachment in CRM system which is stored with MIME text/x-doctype - can the MIME type be changed afterwards somehow? Maybe using some report?
    thanks for your help!
    cheers,
    Johannes

    I do not know of a standard report, but something bespoke could be written.
    Class CL_CRM_DOCUMENTS has a method change_properties.  This should allow you to change the value for the MIME_TYPE property.  A bespoke report could use this to access and change the mime type of documents.

  • How to get the 'mime-type' of a Resource accessed via WebDAV

    Hello,
    When a document is uploaded into a folder which is managed by a WebDAV RepositoryManager we don't see a Property 'mime-type' or something like that.
    Our code:
    <i>IPropertyMap lijstProp = tempResource.getProperties();</i>
    In the list there is no Property 'contenttype' or something like that!
    This is a bit of a surprise to me since it seems to me a very relevant Property of a Resource.
    How can the mime-type/contenttype of a Resource managed by a WebDAV Repository Manager be determined?
    Kind regards,
    Maarten Rutten

    Hi Thilo,
    We access the Resources via API.
    When I use "IPropertyMap lijstProp = tempResource.getProperties();" I assume that ALL the available properties are in 'lijstProp'.
    (is this correct?)
    I don't have the Property "contenttype" available in 'lijstProp'.
    A workaround could be that when adding documents to a folder via API's, we also should set this Property via API's.
    But when documents are added directly into the WebDAV folder we don't have that option. So, when we find a Resource with the Property 'contenttype' missing the only option I see is to 'calculate' the contenttyype based on the extension of the Resource.
    Do you agree?
    Kind regards,
    Maarten

  • About MIME type

    hai friends , i am learning webstart, i want to set mime type in server i know the mimetype buti dont know hot to set the MIME type in webserver so is anybody knows please answer for my query
    thanks

    Sorry, Google doesn't know about SATRTO webserver. I guess that means it doesn't exist...
    I have been able to find a german hosting provider called Strato, is that what you mean? In that case, it looks like a LAMP server, so I guess you should be able to do it with the instructions in the Java Webstart guide for Apache httpd: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/javaws/developersguide/setup.html Otherwise, you'll have to contact your provider or the creator of the server software you use.

  • Change storage type. Please

    Hi Guys,
    We are using storage type search
    3 storage types are defined for the storage type indicator 001.
    In WM we have over 20 different storage types.
    The sorage type search works fine, it means that one of the 3
    defined storage types is beeing found.
    I know that the found storage type is meant as a proposal and that the user can change storage type/section/bin during processing of the transfer order (it means to select another of the restly 17 storage types defined in WM).
    From business we got the requirement to avoid limit the change of the storage type and section (it means that the user should only be able to select one of the 3 storage types defined in the storage type search) , but still allow the change of the storage bin during manually processing of the TO.
    The function "allow destination bin change" allows or avoids the entry of all 3 fields "storage type/storage section/storage bin". As we want onlz the bin to be changed, this functionality doesn't meet our requirement.
    Do you know some options to achieve this ?
    Thanks
    Manuel

    Hi
    Go to transaction CMOd and create a project there and activate it
    then find the user exits there for transaction CO01.
    you will find it there.
    Or go to SE84 and look for enhancement there.
    thanks

  • Server and MIME types

    I'm having a great deal of trouble getting my java web start working I've set up everything on the site but when I click the link it shows the XML code from my JNLP file. I read that I have to set a MIME type on the server but I have no way of changing anything on the server concerning MIME types. Can I somehow specify something in the HTML so it'll open it up? Thanks, Kyle Chalupa

    You are quite correct I have a bad MIME type however I don't have access to modify the MIME type definitions on the server nor if I did I wouldn't know what to modify. Is there a way to do it in JavaScript? Kicking up the reward to 5 duke dollars. Please help.
    I don't think there's anything you can specify in the
    HTML to make it work. I downloaded your jnlp file and
    tried to open it in JWS and got the following error:
    An error occurred while launching/running the
    application.
    Title: Tic Tac Toe Application
    Vendor: Kyle Chalupa
    Category: Download Error
    Bad MIME type returned from server when accessing
    resource:
    http://www.sunysuffolk.edu/~chalk43/tictactoe/tictactoe
    jnlp - text/plain
    So that says to me that the mime type has to be set on
    the server for it to work at all.

  • MIME-TYPE is stored incorrectly sometimes, browsers can't display html content

    Our company is switching from Netscape Communicator to Internet Explorer 5.5 . This resulted sometimes in html-documents which could not be opened in netscape anymore, but caused the save-as dialogue box to pop-up.
    Analysis of this problem, with the aid of Oracle Support, showed some html-documents were stored in WWV_DOCUMENT with mime-type application/octer-stream. This is a mime type which should trigger the save-as pop-up dialogue in browsers. Netscape acts accordingly, but IE does display the content normally.
    The following events cause this problem:
    1. create a html document using a microsoft office product (word/excel)
    2. DON'T close the document in the office application
    3. Use the portal wizard to upload the file to a content area
    4. Use table WWV_THINGS and WWV_DOCUMENT and see mime-type isn't text/html but application/octet-stream
    5. IE shows the file, NN wants to save it.
    The workaround to this problem is to close the file in MSOffice before uploading it.
    Oracle Development confirmed it's the browser which sends this incorrect mime-type, and portal just stores this type. It seems this mime-type is overruling the extension to mime-type mapping in the configuration of Apache, using AddType or the file mime.types.
    So the mime-types defined in apache are only used outside mod_plsql, that is, when files from the filesystem of the webserver itself are used.
    When uploading a zip-file, and unzipping it in the database, all files get the right mime-type. It seems in this situation the mime-type is determined by looking either at the file-extention or the magic bits.
    Oracle says it's a microsoft bug, so I'll have to ask Bill for a fix.
    They are probably right, and I think I could reproduce this using CGI-scripting without modplsql and portal.
    But:
    It seems not logically to me that it depends on the method of uploading files (single files, or zipped files) which method of mime-type determination is used.
    Furthermore, I find it strange that it depends on the storage location of the file (database or filesystem) which mime-type is presented at the user.
    I'd like to hear your opinions about this
    Regards,
    Ton Haver

    You want to be using <html:link forward="YOUR_FORWARD"> only when you want to forward to static elements and not elements that require actions. So in index.jsp, since you just want to forward to a static jsp page (allarticle.jsp), you can use
    <html:link forward="show">Show All forum</html:link>But since you want your "one forum" link to populate a session attribute BEFORE loading /jsp/loveforum.jsp, you need
    <html:link action="article">one forum</html:link>The reason it's not working now is because you're accessing a session attribute that isn't populated becuase you link to the page statically and it never gets the value of "list" actually stored in the session.
    The reason it works when you change your forward element is because it calls the action that saves "list" into your session.
