"Can' connect to iTunes Store" - only on categories

I've been having a strange problem in the App Store for the last couple of days, accessed through the iPhone.
I get the message "Can't connect to iTunes Store" whenever I try to access any of the categories ("Music", "Utilities" etc.). However, searching for apps works fine, and also accessing "What's hot now" etc.
Installing updates also seems to work fine.
Anyone know what's going on?
Have tried turning the phone on and off, but that's just about all I know in terms of solving errors on the iPhone.

I have exactly the same problem. I can search for apps but I can't open categories - I always get the 'can't connect to iTunes' message. This has been going on for two or three days. I've restored the phone and rebooted several times but it doesn't do any good.

    Try quitting the App Store:
Tap the home button to get to the home screen. Then double tap the home button, and hold your finger over the App Store icon. Tap the red when it appears. Tap the home button again to return to the home screen.
    Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.

  • Installed itunes 10.5, no longer can connect to itunes store now?

installed itunes 10.5, no longer can connect to itunes store now?

Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? Some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes.
The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).   Check the settings for your utility. If iTunes is still listed, remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes. Consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure. If you have Norton, you can find instructions for that utility on Symantec's web page for iTunes. You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS1424 I am having issues downloading music from iTunes, it comes up saying an unknown error has occurred - please check your network connection. Now I can connect to iTunes store and have itunes as an exception for downloads so don't know what else to do

Hello, I've started having an issue downloading songs and apps from iTunes to our PC which has Windows XP Professional installed. We also use Karspersky Anti-Virus and Firefox as an internet browser. Have never had this issue before, it comes up with "An unknow error has occured and downloads are stopped with an error 8003. Also says please check your network connection" We have no issue connecting to iTunes store or the network so not sure how to fix this. It is very frustrating. Have checked Windows Firewall and iTunes is an exception, can't think of anything else why it won't work.

I sounds as though you need to start again. The following article tells you how to completely remove iTunes and Quicktime. If you didn't actually install iTunes you wont find it in add/remove programs so you can't do that bit, but still delete the iTunes folder in Program Files as advised in the article.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
Once you have got rid of them, try installing the latest version of iTunes. There is a link to it in the article.
Itunes wont move your music for you, get iTune sgoing then ask again.

  • TS1368 i am getting error -3212 can connect to itunes store help

help i cannot connect to itunes store. error -3212

if it comes up with itunes cannot connect to itunes store, blah blah error (-3212) then its because one of your computer programs has failed, to find the faild program you should look at the bottom right corner of your screen and if any of the little icons have a yellow exclamation mark on or next to it then that is the ones thats failed.
you need to make a note of which one it is and then go to control panel on the start menu, once loaded look for the link called 'programs' and click on uninstall a program, find the faulty program and just click on it and it will start uninstalling, restart your computer and try loading itunes again and it'll work

iTunes 7.x will not work with the current incarnation of the iTunes Store. I don't believe even iTunes 8 will work correctly. iTunes 9.2.1 will work, I believe, and it will run on your system:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056
9.2.1 won't support all the current features of the iTunes Store, but should at least allow you to connect and purchase. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before even iTunes 9 won't work with the Store, though.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't connect to app store but can connect to iTunes store.

I want to upgrade to Mavericks but I cannot connect to the App Store. When I try to sign in, it immediately reads: connection failed. However, I can sign in to the iTunes Store. I've scoured these forums but nothing I've read has helped. Can anyone help me?

There isn't anything about Firewall under Sharing.
I turned Firewall off under Security and restarted. Still no connection to App Store.
Turned Firewall back on and added App Store under Advanced to allow incoming connections.
    Still no dice.
Could I uninstall App Store and redownload it? Can't find it to download though.

  • I've got ipad 4th generation but I can not connect to iTunes .when press video or music it ask me to g iTunes Store when press that the iTunes come up with white page and blue icon saying can connect to iTunes Store .any help please .thanks

I can not connect to iTunes from ipad

This what Apple's iTunes specific error codes support article says about that particular error.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • "Error: Cannot connect to iTunes Store" only when I try to Redeem a code

I only get this error code when I try to redeem one of many codes. I can download apps and update them just fine. I've tried all the little solutions like turning device on/off, changing the date/time forward, 8.8.8.8, etc and none of them have worked.
Can someone help me solve this annoying problem? : )

As soon as I posted this, a lightbulb lit up and I realized I had old testflight data of the same game I was trying to redeem. I deleted the old file and was able to redeem without a problem

  • Itunes update 10.4.0.80 has lost my connection to itunes store and sync capability

Since mistakenly updating to the above version,  i can no longer connect to the itunes store (although the internet connection is fine) and my ipad will not syncronise any selected documents with apps when connected by USB.  I have lost all of the associated documents that were with the ipad apps. I can connect to itunes store over wifi with the ipad and my iphone without any problem though.
When you click on itunes store within itunes on the PC the progress bar stops halfway and leaves a blank window.  The same symptom is displayed when clicking on the Help option.
No idea what to do now.  Any suggestions?
    regards
    John

  • Can no longer connect to Itunes store

I cannot connect to Itunes store.  I have done everything that the Itunes support e-mail told me.  I unblocked pop-ups, checked my firewall that Itunes was allowed,  and checked my  internet connection and still no Itunes.  Itunes support has been no help other than 3 identical e-mails.  Can someone please help? Get the feeling Apple doesn't like non-Mac customers.

Try running iTunes Diagnostics and pasting the output here.
What firewall software are you running on your computer? Try to set it up again or uninstall it (for testing purposes only).
