Can connect to wifi but not to Internet

I had the problem that iPad2 suddenly could connect to wifi, and to 3G for that matter, but got an error trying to acces the Internet (from Safari or mail).
Tried for hours all the advice foud here and other places, like resetting this and that.
I had a feeling that it was something blocking on the iPad, not a router problem - all other devices could connect to Internet.
The solution: I had disconnected Dropbox! - Connecting to Dropbox again solved all problems. Now it's even possible to disconnect to Dropbox without getting problems with Internet access.
The lesson learned from this: apps can hang up Internet-connection, though they are not even using it!

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • I can connect to WiFi but not the internet

I am trying to connect a new IPad 2.  I have a Belkin router that is B+G+N.  I use WPA2 encryption and MAC filtering.  The IPAD's MAC address was entered into the router and when I provide the encryption key as the password I am able to connect to WiFi but not anything Internet related except for email.  When I type any URL in Safari it takes me to my router's management page.  In fact I can log into my router and manage it from my IPad but I can't connect to anything else.  I have 8 other computers/devices that connect to the router fine including two Apple Ipod touch's.  This has me baffled.

  • Can connect to Wifi but not LAN internet with iphone 6

    Hello from Australia.
Ever since I brought my iphone 6 home, I have been plagued with Wifi issues.  All of my idevices have lost internet connection, even though they can be connected to WiFi via Airport Express (2nd gen).
My internet is a LAN ethernet cable, and usually after connnecting to WiFi (on any device), I get a Login Page from my ISP and I can connect to the internet as usual.
The new iphone 6 has never been able to bring up the Login Page, but is able to connect to my WiFi network.  My old 4S is also unable to connect, as well as my husband's 4S.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you.

  • My computer will connect to wifi but not the Internet

My computer will connect to wifi but not the Internet. It's not a problem with my router because I've tried other devices on the same router and they work. I have also tried my computer on other routers and there is still no Internet connection. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Bmowat,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you are able to successfully connect to your Wifi network, but cannot get internet access.
I found this article for you named Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628?viewlocale=en_US
This section in particular since you have Mountain Lion installed:
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4 or later
Use the Wireless Diagnostics application included with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4 and later to identify and resolve Wi-Fi issues. For further information, please see About Wireless Diagnostics.
It is a built in troubleshooting tool to help diagnose and repair network issues and should help you resolve this issue.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • HT1595 When I connect with my wifi it comes up as connected to wifi but not the Internet and all my other devices work except the Apple TV and I'm not sure what to do

At first my Apple TV was stuck so I unplugged it and re plugged it so everything disappeared all my apps everything then when I tried hooking up to my Internet it said connected to wifi but cannot connect to the Internet so I'm not sure what that means or how to fix it

    GH
When you say everything disappeared do you still have Computers and Settings icons?  Try rebooting the router  and apple tv with all cables out for 30 seconds.  Does it work eathernet connected if you can try that too?

  • Can connect to router, but not to internet

About a week ago, my whole wireless setup stopped working. I have a BEFW11S4 v.4 router and a WPC54G v3 notebook adapter. I tried the hard reset on the router and taking to security off the wireless. I can connect to the router, but not the internet. What am I doing wrong? I can connect directly using the DSL modem.

If you are getting Ip address in the range of 192.168.1.X ....with gateway 192.168.1.1 .... change the Local Ip address to 192.168.2.1 ...click save settings ....
Do power cycle .....& see if you are online or not ....

Brand new IPad 2 user:  I am setting up unit right out of box. Can connect with my Verizon FIOS Wifi with IPad and have strong signal.
Cannot now connect to the internet via Safari. Have tried several of the solutions offered in Apple manuals such as cleaning out network settings and starting over, but to no avail.
I have also gone to the Verozon support website for clues.
Any IPad2 users under Verizon out there?

  • My Macbook (lion/ML) can connect to wifi, but gets no internet (only specific network)

    Hi everyone.
I'm really not the only one having a Wi-Fi problem, but my case may be a little different, so I thought I'd start a new thread.
I can connect to my Business network, To my home network and to my mobile phone tether connection. All gives 3/3 or 2/3 bars (perfect connection) but only my phone tether connection actually gives internet through. Strangest thing is that all of this happened suddenly. I had a few weeks of perfect internet (I only have this laptop for a few weeks) and suddenly all my Wifi is not working correctly
    My configuration:
Macbook Pro 15" 2012, non retina
Mountain Lion, with all updates installed (also happened on Lion)
    WiFi connection
    KPN ZTE 220H Modem/Router
A few things to keep in mind:
    - This problem started on Lion, but after updating to ML, it hasn't been resolved
    - I can connect with any router
    - But can get only Internet from one specific network (My Phone tether)
    - My home network and the network at my office can be connected, but doesn't gives any internet, nor Ping (terminal) does work
    - Ethernet works perfectly
    I'm not running a 169.*.*.* DHCP
Ok, besides that.. I've tried quite much any solution.
    - Renewing DHCP Lease
    - Resetting the PRAM
    - Resetting the SMC
    - Network Assistent
    - Network location options
    - Removing all Network devices, applying and readding them
    - Removing the system preferences, clean the bin, reboot
    - Use a custom DHCP, BootP
Non of all those options work to resolve my Wi-Fi problem. Not even for half a minute.
    Anyone else has a solution?

Hi; Then this has got to be the lamest Flatypus (Ozzie roadkill laptop), Mate. Drive on: nothing to see, here. Just Pretty; only. Shiny, too; NOT EVEN. Yes there are 12-page forum threads here and elsewhere on the Mac dropping wireless, an issue that must disappear soon (got Mac OS 10.5.6?). The best and brightest Mac programmers are working as we speak, trying to dig out an end-around for the hundreds of dorky ancient pc MS-DOS router scripts, without destroying the magic for Mac-native devices by being encumbered with dross protocols, dumbed down.
So, have heart; murmur not. Cowboy up, which is American for 'spend more money on the issue' (and, d'oh, spend it on the same people that brought the issue to you in the first instance ...) ... buy a Mac Airport Extreme Base station? Else just keep trying to configure the existing Router; sweet, when you finally troubleshoot this dud and post back ...
Is your router capable of wiFi "n" even ... may be time for an upgrade, then; something new, and Mac-friendly. Good luck!

  • Can connect to network, but not to internet

I have a wireless network set up with four macs connecting to it. Three of the macs can connect to the network and access the internet.
My Black Macbook can connect to the network, but when I open Safari or any other program that connects to the internet I cannot actually get on the internet. For example, I open safari and after a few minutes it says I am not connected to the internet.
I can connect to my neighbor's unprotected wireless network and have no problem getting on the internet with that connection.
I have tried turning the computer off and on and turning the airport off and on and it does not solve anything. I did not do anything to the compueter, it just started this problem out of the blue.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Do you have IP address limits ? Say I have 5 IP
    addresses limit.
That is not it. And, I did not change anything before it just stopped working. The strange thing it is only within my wireless network that I can't access the internet. I eventually get the "you are not connected to the internet" screen each time I try to bring up a web page.

  • Can connect to airport but not load internet page

I can connect my PS3 and window based laptop to my airport network, as both show successful connection, but I can not load internet page on either the PS3 or the laptop. My airport network is not protected. My airport base station is about 7 years old.

Well the symptoms now point to a number of issues that need to be eliminated and they are you need to check that you are logged onto the ISP. For always ON systems this is usually a function of the Router in which case you need to log onto the Router and check the appropriate settings for this function also release the lease on the IP address and reboot the Router. The other issue is that the Router may not have access to the ISP which may cabling problem [disconnected or accidently damaged cable] within your environment of a service problem within the ISP domain. Check with a neighbour who is subscribed to the same Exchange as you are to see if they have problems otherwise call your Service Provider they may have to perform a reset on their end of your connectivity. Good luck

  • New Ipad Connecting to WiFi but NOT the internet

I have the new iPad (3) and had it set up fine to connect through WiFi.  Recently I activated the Verizon LTE account and used it while on a trip.  Since then, my iPad will not connect to Wifi any longer.   I have tried the following:
-Forgotten the network and tried to log in again fresh...Will connect to my airport extreme but will not connect to internet (Airport utility shows green lights everywhere except for internet, I show a full signal but the wheel just keeps spinning)
-Reset the network settings, same effect
-Reset the entire iPad, same effect
now I am to the point where I have to setup the iPad again via iTunes because it will not connect to the internet via WiFi
I have reset all modems and routers to factory settings and it still doesn't help.
Throughout all of this I am still able to connect to the internet via my airport extreme AND internet using two iphones, apple TV, my mac, and my pc.
Hoping for a solution on here, otherwise it looks like a day at the "genius" bar.

  • Can connect to airport but not always internet!!

We have up to 6 Wi-Fi devices in the house and for some reason only about two can connect to the airport at one time. We have road runner from TWC and I have called them and they said that the modem was working fine and reset it from their office. They said that the router AEBS was messed up. I've tried to reset all the settings and it worked for a little while, but then returned to it's old ways again. What's wrong? Am I missing something. This has been majorly stressful! FYI We have a Powerbook G4, MacBook, HP Desktop, Vaio Laptop, and 2 iPod touches.

I have reset my airport this was the second time i was toying with it all last night. I was able to get on the little website for our modem so I disabled that firewall and turned off it's wireless capabilities and a few other odds and ends. And then I redid all of airport. Now though I get an unresolved problem status with "Double NAT" it says and I quote that "This base station has a private IP address on it's ethernet WAN port. It is connected to a divece or network that is using Network Address Translation (NAT) to provide private IP Addresses. You should change your base station from using DHCP and NAT to bridge mode." I ignored it because it seemed to be working last night fine with all of our devices on at the same time. but then again last time I reset it, it worked fine for about 3 days and then went to it's old habits.

  • Can connect via wifi but not by ethernet cable?

    Hi,
    I'm a bit confused here.
I have an airport express which works fine and I just bought an airport extreme.
The airport extreme is connected to the modem by an ethernet cable and the airport express is connected by ethernet cable to the airport extreme.
I am able to connect to the airport express wifi with all the computers but I'm unable to connect any computers to the airport extreme via ethernet cable.
Both airport express and extreme are lit up green and they both appear on the Airport Utility.
The airport extreme setting is set so that it is joining the airport express' network. That's the only way the light shows up green instead of flicking amber.
I've looked at the settings over and over again and am not sure/don't understand why this is? All I know is that I've got the wifi working! The ethernet connection is not workin for both PCs and Mac.
    Any help is much appreciated!

The airport extreme is connected to the modem by an ethernet cable
    On the WAN plug, right?
and the airport express is connected by ethernet cable to the airport extreme.
Why? You don't need AirPort Express anymore, unless you have signal weakness in your home.
If that is the case, you can use the AirPort Express to extend the range of the new AirPort Extreme WiFi network with WDS (Wireless Distribution System).
