Can connect with AE but fail on connecting with internet

For some reasons I needed to re-conflict my AE and changed the wireless name. 2 of my Mac computer and my iTouch could connect with no problem. But my PC (XP2) could connect with this AE but failed on internet with error message "limited or not connectivity".
Had to Restore my PC one day back (using the System Restore), reset my AE to previous name. Now everything is ok ... what's the reason behind ???
Thank you

I finally get the answer :-
The XP only works for WEP 128bit with 13 characters password and not 5 characters

GerleMan, Welcome to the discussion area!
    There are two probably causes:
Your ISP is blocking the port used by Entourage to send mail and the ISP used by the other wireless networks is not.
Your ISP doesn't like OS X's default MTU seting of 1500. If this were the case it should also affect any large file transfers you try to make from your Mac to the Internet.

  • Only Chrome can connect to internet, but the rest cannot.  I have wifi or lan connect to router.

Only Chrome can connect to internet, but the rest cannot.  I have wifi or lan connect to router.
All my connection to the internet had been stopped after I setup my new bought imac, and transferred data from my previous mac book.
The connect test showed I have no connection to the internet.  But the interest is, I can connect to internet with Google Chrome, but in a quite slow connection speed.
Check several times with the router and switches, DNS, wifi, lan settings etc.
Give up after hours of trying.

At the same time, another mac book using the same router can connect to the internet.  Even my iphone can also using wifi to connect to the internet.
Chrome in the imac can, but Safari and the internet test cannot.

Let me see if I understand correctly, you can access the Internet and email when on wifi, however when not on wifi, none of this works? Is this correct? If so, do you have a data plan with your carrier? Do you have cellular data turned on in Settings? When you look at your carrier in the upper left corner, do you see a signal, carrier name, and then 3G, 4G or LTE displayed? Have you contacted your carrier about this?

Is your MacBook compatible with Mavericks? Open  > About this Mac > More Info, and you will see the MacBook model you have got. Then, check in this site if it's supported >
If your Mac is not compatible, OS X 10.7.5 is the most recent version for your Mac. Also, copy the whole message you see when you open the Mavericks installer

  • Can connect to internet when plugged directly into linksys cable modem but

I have an Airport Extreme router, am running Windows Xp, and can connect to the internet when I plug my laptop directly into my linksys cable modem. I can also connect to the internet when I plug directly into the airport extreme via cat 5 cable. However, when I try to connect wirelessly via airport extreme, I cannot get on the internet, even though it shows I have excellent signal strength on the laptop, have a solid green light on the airport, and all lights look right on the cable modem. It says something about error -6753. This is what I am doing now; I am connected to the airport via cat 5 cable, and am downloading all software / firmware updates for the airport, do you think this will fix my problem? How do I diagnose if my problem is with the wireless settings on the laptop, or with the airport? thanks, this is extremely aggravating.

Welcome to the discussions forums airporteggstreme.
I found a couple of posts that may be relevant. They point to the fact that your PC may be looking for a different address when it's connected wirelessly versus its wired connection. I believe you'll solve the problem by making sure both your Airport and your PC are configured to get their IP addresses via DHCP. If all else fails "hard reset" your Airport, unplug your PC's Ethernet cable and set it up wirelessly. That should work.
    Here's the link:
It refers to an Express but the Extreme will be similar. If you scroll way down you'll find the following:
In order to configure the Airport Express you not only need to connect to it as the access point but *also need to treat it as a DHCP server.*
If you connect the the AE as a base station but do not have "Obtain IP address automatically" in your network settings you will receive error code -6753. I racked my brain on that for a while after doing a number of hard resets. Once I went into my PC's network settings and removed the manual IP address I had set there ( and set for automatic ip address retrieval I was able to configure the AE using the admin utility.
Once you have finished configuring the base station and set it to join your existing network, you can change your PC's IP back to whatever you need for your own purposes.

  • Can connect to internet, but software can't find base station

I bought the Airport express a few months ago to use with my stereo and IBM laptop. It took me a few tries to get it initially installed properly, but eventually did and everything worked great. A month or so ago I noticed that the tab to select "remote speakers" was not on my iTunes as it had been before. All of the settings were correct on my iTunes however so then I went to the AirPort Utility to check out the settings and the program said it could not find the base station. I tried to find the station on AirPort Set-up assistant. This program can find it but not connect to it (on the first page after the menu it shows the base station and when I hit "next" it can't connect to the station). All of this is really odd as I have internet access through this base throughout these problems. Any ideas what might be happening and how to fix it? I have reset the base station to factory settings numerous times, I have unplugged everything and restarted the whole process numerous times, I even left the base station unplugged for a week to let it relax. Still nothing works. I can connect to the internet through the station but can not find the station.
    IBM T40 Windows XP Pro

Thanks for your help. I can manually connect to the internet but I can't figure out how to get iTunes to recognize that there are remote speakers as my computer can't recognize my base station. Is there a manual way to do this?

  • Can connect to Internet but can't open any web pages

Hi there helpers, I was on my iMac this morning and everything was fine. I could open any browsers and it could load pages very fast, but after I downloaded and tried to install Xquartz ( recommended by apple) I went on my browser again any tried to open Facebook but it didn't work all it said on the browser was NO DATA RECEIVED. I thought it was only Facebook so I tried google but it wasn't, it was all of the websites. So I'm not sure if I've accidentally downloaded a virus or malware. By the way I use google chrome to do the things above but I did do it again in safari. Thanks

  • Only one of three computers can connect to Internet via Airport

My partner made a change in airport settings when a problem with the router came up and I only partially have it fixed.  We have three different computers that have all been accessing the Internet via an 1st generation Airport extreme.  The Airport is connected via ethernet to the cable router.  One computer, the one that was used to set up the Airport originally, can connect to the Internet just fine.  The other two laptops can "see" the Airport network, but cannot get an Internet connection.  Do I need to reset the Airport and start over?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

Your partner likely changed the AirPort to Bridge Mode based on the information in your post.
Check the following setting on the AirPort Extreme using AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
    Click the Internet icon
    Click the Internet Connection tab
Connection Sharing = Share a public IP address
Update to save settings and allow 25-30 seconds for the AirPort to restart.
Then restart the entire network again.

  • I Have 15 inch G4 that can not acquire wireless net work, I can see other wireless but failes to connect

The air port is on and it is asking to join the network that is available, I type in the passcode and every time it comes back connection failed.
I havr trird the same set  up on manyn other of my apple devices, ( Ipad, Iphone 4 & 4S, Mac book pro 15" & 13" they all work fine with the same passcode)
I cant figure out why this power book is failing to connect to the wifi and or ethernet connection. I also tried to connect to a hard wire conection LAN and it still stated that it was not connected to the ethertnet.
    please help

Since it doesn't connect via wifi or ethernet, something is not setup correctly. Don't know if Safari in OS 10.5 works the same as Safari in OS 10.4, but open Safari. When Safari doesn't connect to the internet, you should get a message that will walk you thru the setup. Do this first when connected via ethernet.

  • Can connect to internet, but can't find other computers in my network.

I have two macs that connect to the internet via an Airport Express unit (which is setup to connect to the internet using DHCP and share a single IP address using DHCP/NAT). My problem is that the macs cannot seem to find each other in the network.
How do I setup the network so that I can share the internet connection between both macs and at the same time connect from the one mac to the other? Is that even possible with an Airport Express unit?
I have two more Airport Express units. Can I configure one of those to act as the local network bridge (or whatever the technical term for that is)
I really just want to get all my macs to talk to each other, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how All help would be greatly appreciated!

Never mind... I'm stupid... File Sharing was off... d'oh! It all works now

  • WRT54GS ... Can connect to Internet but not to my network

I have three desktop computers wired to the router and a laptop that I connect using wireless. One of my computers went to the shop. Now, I can't get it to connect to the network, but I can access the Internet with a browser and with an FTP Client. The other computers still talk to each other fine. I reconfigured the problem desktop but no joy. Note that I cannot access the router at from any computer. I unplugged the router for 30 seconds and replugged it... with no change. What's my next step? Thanks in advance for any help. New info. I can access the router by using Internet Explorer. And There is no light on the front panel indicating that the problem computer is connected ... even though I'm accessing the modem/Internet with it.

Lower down the Ethernet Adapter card speed from Auto to 10 Half Duplex ...
Also change the cable or the port in the routers back side ....
See if light is present on one ....
