Can CR 2008 integrate in BO Edge Series?

Hi, i have an BO Edge series, and i wish to buy Crystal report 2008 to replace my older version of CR, can CR 2008 integrate with BO Edge Series?

Can't access CMC and infoview on BO edge series 3.1

I have just installed BO edge series 3.1, immediate moment after installation, I can open CMC console, but after I 've done other operation on the computor, CMC can't open now, also I can't open infoview, error shows " can't establish connection to server", but other features work well. how can I resolve this issue?

I will clarify following facts:
(1) I used "typical installation " for Edge3.1
(2) all are installed on windows XP
(3) I have restarted computor several time, CMC and infoview can't be launched either.
(4) other features work very well.
(5) after I installed Edge 3.1, CMC and infoview were reached for one time, after that, I installed crystal report 2008, this report designer can't be started, so unstalled it. then try to access CMC and infovew, it failed.

BO Edge Series, CR2008, Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 installation question

I have referred "BO and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 1 of 4" and all other parts of Blogs by Ingo Hilgefort. I have downloaded the software required for installation and followed the steps to install all of the software. However, I had some issues after the installation.
First - I am installing the Edge series on Windows Vista Enterprise, service pack 1; 32bit OS. While reading the minimum requirements I had assumed that we can install the Edge series on the Vista laptop. I have not installed any database server before Edge series installation -
So, do I need to install any Database like MS SQL server/ database before the edge series installation?
I have no problem in following the steps in the blog series by Ingo until part 4:
SAP Java Connector:
The SAP Java Connector is being leveraged from BusinessObjects Edge and the SAP Integration Kit as part of the SAP Authentication plug-in in the Central Management Console.+
You can download the SAP Java Connector from the service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/connectors).
I am downloading the version 2.1.8
After unzipping the Java Connector download, I copy the file sapjco.jar to the shared library folder of the application server (in my example : \Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib)
+and the file sapjcorfc.dll to %windir%\system32.
I could not find the path "\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\shared\lib" and "%windir%\system32" to add the files specified above.
Do I need to install the Tomcat first before the Edge series installation or it comes with the installation of the Edge series?
Please note that after completing all the installation except the above Java files - I could see:
1. BW Publisher Service 12 (Manages a pool of Crystal Report publishers) - which I have trouble starting this server
2. Server Intelligence Agent (Manages BO Enterprise Servers) - No problem starting this server
3. WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service (WinHTTP implements the client HTTP stack and provides developers with a Win 32 API and COM Automation component for sending HTTP requests and receiving responses. In addition, WinHTTP provides support for auto-discovering a proxy configuration via its implem....) - I could start the server but stops automatically
I could not open the "Central Management console" and other tools under Programs->BO Edge series
Appreciate any suggestions on this. I am even ready to give a second try starting from begining if one could point me to the right direction.

Thanks Andy. Yes we have already installed Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 in client machine and published some dashboards in Infoview. I just want to make sure whether my approach is right (not installing Xcelsius in Server).
Becasue I have a concern how the data level securtity (authorization) in Xcelsius Dashboard for different users will take care if we don't install Xcelsius in Server.

Hi, i just wonder now BO has launch BOE XI3.0 and it has new features.
If i purchase BO Edge Series (formerly BOCD) now, is it come with XIR3.0 engine? such as in BOE XI3.0, it has "changes track" feature in WebI, is it feature come with in the new purchase of Edge series?
And can BO Edge series integrate with Crystal Report 2008 and XCelsius 2008?

BusinessObjects XI 3.0 Enterprise Server is predecessor of BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Enterprise Server
A simplified approach is the following:
XI 3.1 = XI 3.0 + Service Pack 1
Also, Once I install the BOBJ XI 3.1 Enterprise Server , I still need to install the following Client Tools separately :
XCelcius 2008,
Crystal Reports, Voyager,
Live Office 2008
If you are using the XI 3.1 server (either Edge or Enterprise) you have to download and install XCelcius 2008 V1, Crystal Reports 2008 V1 and Live Office XI 3.1
If you are using XI 3.0 (either Edge or Enterprise) you have to download and install XCelcius 2008 V0, Crystal Reports 2008 V0 and Live Office XI 3.0
Voyager is web-based and comes with the BO server installation. No need to download anything for this one.

I tried to install the evaluation version of BO Edge Series...during the installation it gave me follwing error:-
The Procedure entry point ?terminate@Slogger@CXLib400@@SA_NXZ could not be located in the dynamic link library cxlbw-4.0dll.
Can anyone please help.

BO Edge is officially supported only on Windows Server 2003 and 2008. I assume you have tried to install on another version of Windows. I would recommend to try it on a windows Server installation.

Does the BO Edge Server installation will automatically install MYSQL, Java App Server and Tomcat or do I need to download them separately and install before starting BO Edge Server installation?

Please clarify my following doubt,
We are migrating from BO 6.5 to BO XI 3.1 intergrating with our application.
I want to use the COM XI 3.1 SDK for the Desktop Intelligence. I did some code changes in the previous 6.5 SDK which we already used.
Say, I changed the LoginAs() method to Logon() in the C++ file.When I tried to create the .dll file using Visual Studio 6.0, I got the following error,
'Logon' is not the member of Application class.
From this message, I understood that, still Application class of BO 6.5 was used and not BO xi and some libraries were also missing.
Please correct me, if my understanding is wrong.
Where can I get the BO xi 3.1 com SDK for DESKI? When searched in SAP portal, I get only the API reference and Developer guides.

MacBook Early 2008 Core 2 Duo/Penryn Series - Unable to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion ( Looking For A Fix )

I own a MacBook "Early 2008 Core 2 Duo/Penryn" Series has Intel Processor (T8100 (2.1 GHz ) / T8300 (2.4 GHz)) 45 nm "Penryn" processors, 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300) installed in pairs (two 02 GB modules), a 160.0 GB Serial ATA (5400 RPM) hard drive with "Sudden Motion Sensor" technology, an 8X dual-layer write DVD±RW/CD-RW SuperDrive, an Intel GMA X3100 integrated "graphics processor with 144 MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory", and a 13.3" widescreen TFT active-matrix "glossy" display (1280x800 native resolution). It also includes AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, a FireWire "400" port, two USB 2.0 ports, optical digital audio in/out, and video out capabilities (mini-DVI) that supports an external display. Now, I have this old MacBook Early 2008 Model PC and I took it to the shop and I thought I would upgrade the software (OS and APPS) so I take it to the iStore ‘Rescue Centre’, as APPLE INC calls it world over, they say you will have to upgrade it version by version and each version would cost you a licence fee! SO the cost break up would be, I’m currently on MAC OS X Leopard to be updated by MAC OS X Snow Leopard ( cost $19.99 / INR 1060.00 approx. ) which again to be upgraded MAC OS X Lion ( cost $19.99 / INR 1060.00 approx. ) and then to latest one is MAC OS X Mountain Lion ( cost $19.99 / INR 1060.00 approx. ) which means I have to pay INR 3210.00 to upgrade the machine and I agree to pay for that and after two upgrades the third one(that is the latest version) was not compatible with my machine because of inferior/outdated hardware e unit and If I want the new operating system then I told to buy the new machine which costs between INR 90,000 to INR 1,40,000!!

So I’m here looking for somebody, anybody, whether you would be able to help me with my MacBook which is early 2008 Core 2 Duo/Penryn Series (for exact specifications, see above) and I currently running Lion on it and wondering is there any way I can upgrade this to Mountain Lion?

Your early 2008 MacBook cannot be upgraded to Mountain Lion. The reason is that Mountain Lion is entirely a 64 bit operating system, and cannot use any 32 bit components. Lion, while also 64 bit-based, can use some 32 bit components, and thus would work on all Core 2 Duo machines. This article has more details.
The center you went to was incorrect when they said you have to upgrade to each operating system. You need to be at Snow Leopard in order to access the App store to download Mountain Lion. You don't have to install Lion to get to Mountain Lion. See this Apple page on this.

Business Object 3.1 Edge Series Installation Problem

I am doing the advance installation of Business Object 3.1 Edge series, in which i am using oracle database 10.2. I am getting this error
*ORA-12154:*
** TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified**
Can any one explain?

I am trying to install client tools sp3, and it is hanging, and never actually starts the installation.
My computer freezes up, and I end up having to reboot my PC.
Anyone experience this?

it could be that you get it sent bya email. if not do the following
1. Navigate to the SMP (service.sap.com)
2. Click on SAP Support Portal
3. LogIn with your S-User ID
4. Navigate to "Keys & Requests"
5. Click on "Obtain temporary BusinessObjects License Keys"
In the Excel Sheet you will find the Trial Keys.
If you dont have a S-User on step 1 in the top right you can register.

BO Edge Series 3.1 Trial Version - Add-on for SAP

I have downloaded the trial version for BO Edge Series 3.1 from

This version seems to be only for Non-SAP systems, i.e. it does not have the "BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Integration for SAP Solutions" Add-on.
Can someone please tell me where I can find a version I can use for SAP BI or just get the Add-on.

Unexpected end of archive".
So what can I do to solve this?

What is the installation media you are using
*) if you ftp'd the software, please make sure you use 'bin" as the transfer mode.
*) If you have copied the disk contents, make sure, the contents are copied completely and there is no difference in the content.

Comes up with "This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)."
The cheek of the matter is everytime I tried to get Apple support it comes up with a request for me to pay $54 for their support package, to fix a problem I didn't have until I complied to one of their update requests.
End of Rant!!! - Anyone know how to fix please?

Well, I wonder about all the responses...:)
Anyhow, I wound up "fixing" the problem by using the System Restore disks for the Mini. It's now running Tiger 10.4.11 (with all updates) and I copied my iTunes library over. It all works now. <shrug> I have no idea what the problem was, and I'm a bit leery of upgrading it to Leopard, so I think I'll just leave well enough alone.
