Can creating a seperate user protect my info on my device from Facebook?

As someone who is still coming to terms with the rate of privacy degradation and technology I have concerns about using social media. My quandary is I believe morally & legally I do NOT have the right to give Facebook access to info from personal & business contacts that are on my device. Will setting up a seperate user resolve this issue.

MMy apology. My intention is to keep my info from being accessed. I wish to limit Facebook to as little amount of info as possible. I refrain from any sharing. I have been informed by a pro photographer to keep my pics to a minimal size, Kb if possible. I am of the opinion the agreement Facebook requires allowing access to ones device is asking someone to do something illegal. I have Not been given permission by all person on my device to allow their particulars to be accessed or used by others. This is especially for business info. In Australia new laws protect images of children so I see this too as an issue. I closed my FB account because Of my concerns And after FB used my mobile to send msgs deleted my funds so I couldn't make a call. I promptly removed FB from all mobile devices. I am an Aussie living in the arctic and FB is very good for keeping in touch with family and friends. But has gone too far and is now only interested in making money. Good idea gone bad. I have applied for proton mail. I am hoping Apple has or will produce hardware& software that allows us to protect that which we choose to keep private. I still use external hard drives for storage & only use cloud based storage when necessary for work commitments,ie Dropbox.
hence I wonder if having a user just for social media will protect all other data on that device from FB. i am considering a seperate iPad for the same purpose as both my partner & I have families abroad. New technology can be so useful however most of us don't understand the implications or know fundamental strategies or ways to protect ourselves given our ignorance, my field is health, not IT.
HOpe me this explains fully.

  • How can i change the user that open the rfc connection (sm58) from R/3?

    Hi all,
i'd like to know how can i customize the user 'connecting' R/3 and BW, i mean: when i launch a data extraction a fixed user creates the rfc connection to BW (and i can see it from tcode sm58 in r/3), i need to use a different username so that it will come be more easy for me to reorganize the rfc queue in case of errors (we are doing some testing), it's possible to do something like this or everyone has to share the same user r/3 side?
    I hope i've been clear...
    thanks for the help
    S.

    Hi...
Its recommended that only one user executes the RFC because you must manage the authorizations for remote execution only with few users....in case on error you can send the user as a parameter of the RFC  and you can buid the error message with this parameter and identify the user of execution...
    I hope this helps you

  • While starting my iMac after new hard drive installed, I created a admin user, I then pulled over a backup from an external hard drive that brought over the previous admin user settings. Need to merge to old user with the new user

I had to replace the hard drive in my iMac. Upon initial start up, I created a admin user name and password. Then I connected a WD external hard drive that had a back up of my orginal HD. Upon running Migration Assistant and pulling over the back up I found it pulled over the ORIGINAL user & security information from the original hard drive. In order to see iPhoto or iTunes libraies I must sign on to the "Old" user.
I want to Merge old and new users into only 1 user or delete the original user however need to have the iPhoto/iTunes libraies accessable by the "New" user.

Your best bet is to start over, by restoring your entire system to the exact condition it was in.  Otherwise, the transferred user account probably won't have permission to its backups.  See the pink box in Problems after using Migration Assistant for an explanation.
See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14 for details on how to do the restore.

  • How many ways we can create authorization for user groups in sap query reports

Hi Gurus, I am getting a problem when I am assigning users to user group in sap query report .The users other than created in user groups are also able to add &change  the users .So please suggest me how to restrict users outside of the user group.
Please send me if u have any suggestions and useful threads.
    Thank You,
    Suneel Kumar.

I don't think it can be done. According to the link below 'Users who have authorization for the authorization object S_QUERY with both the values Change and Maintain, can access all queries of all user groups without being explicitly entered in each user group.'
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/d2/cb3f89455611d189710000e8322d00/content.htm
Although I think you can add code to your infoset and maybe restrict according to authority group, i.e.:
Use AUTHORITY-CHECK to restrict access to the database based on user.
Press F1 on AUTHORITY-CHECK to find out how to use it in the code

  • Why can my children lock and erase other family member Apple devices from their Apple ID?

I recently setup iCloud Family Sharing for our home of 5 people.  My personal and unique Apple ID is the controlling parent ID.  Others in the family are my wife and 3 children (1 over 18 and 2 under 18).  Today I logged into iCloud from one of my kids Apple ID and noticed that it allows him to see everyone elses device location and also gives him the authority to turn on Lost Mode (which locks the device) and to Erase each device.  I then logged out and logged into another childs Apple ID and it was the same thing.  They could each see everyone's devices including my personal Mac Book Pro, both the iPads my wife and I use and the family iMac.
Essentially that means my kids each have the ability to erase or turn on lost mode for anyone elses device which is kinda scary.  Now, perhaps you are thinking that I somehow messed up and put my kids Apple ID as the Organizer for iCloud family share but I can assure you I did not.  When I go into iCloud to see the hierarchy it clearly shows my Apple ID as the Organizer and the others are simply shown as family members and are not authorized to approve purchases.  I also do not have my kids Apple ID setup on my personal Macbook Pro or my personal iPad as an account so there's no connection that way.
That said, I also wondered if my kids could really do anything to my personal devices or if it would ask them for my password or lock code before doing anything, so I tried it by logging into my son's iCloud account using his Apple ID.  I located my personal iPad and then told it to turn on Lost mode.  And sure enough it locked my iPad from my son's iCloud account.
So is this how it's supposed to work or is something wrong with iCloud rights for device management?  It seems totally wrong that my other family members have such control over other family member devices.
    Thanks

    Hello sbrown02,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to know why the people in your Family Sharing group have access to your location and that ability to put a device in Lost Mode. Lost Mode is a function available with location sharing and can be toggled off or on. Please reference the attached article for more information.
Family Sharing and location - Apple Support
Use location sharing with Find My iPhone
If you join family sharing and choose to share your location with family members, they can locate and secure a missing device for you.
If you enabled Find My iPhone on your missing device, a family member can:
See the location and status of your device
Play a sound on your missing device to help you find it
Put your device in Lost Mode to help you find it
If you don't share your location with family members, they will be able to see that your devices are online or offline and play a sound to help you locate your missing device. They won't have access to any location information about your devices.
    Best regards,
    Joe

Yes You can create group in users mysites.
Create Host header site collection, then create my site host in that host header site collection.
Then update this URL as shown below in my site settings

  • How do i get my library back after setting up seperate users in vista

Hello all.  After much frustration, I have decided to turn to my piers for help. (I tried to go thru apple support but they wanted to charge me)   I have three devices that sync to my computer - my iphone, and two itouch's that belong to my daughers.  I decided that it would be a great idea to set up seperate user accounts on my computer so that our information wouldn't get messed up i.e. my contacts and calendar appointments end up on my daughers ipod.  (The one ipod was mine that i gave my daughter when i got my iphone so it was still trying to sync with my stuff even though i erased it and synced to her library.  whole other story.)  They have each had their own library that we switch when we sync.  When i set up the seperate user accounts their libraries disappeared!  I have tried moving the .itl file and the .xml file to the public folder (and many other locations) and changing itunes media location in itunes but i get nothing.  When i try to just click and open those files, they come up empty.  where did it all go? Could it be because this is a first generation itouch running iOS 3.1.3?  I have not tried my other daughters new ipod because she would freak if i messed up all her stuff.   I have not been able to sync their devices since I created the seperate user accounts because I'm afraid they will lose everything.  I apologize because i know just enough to be dangerous and i hope i have not messed things up totally.  Is there any hope that i will be able to retrieve their libraries - wherever they went?  thank you in advance for you help and patience.

This is one of the many reasons that always maintaining a backup copy is basic.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to do so ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:
    File>Transfer Purchases
When you buy from itunes you get one download only. it is your responsibility to backup your music, and all other info/data/pics/docs/etc.

  • Transfer files from PC without creating a new user

Is it possible to use the Migration Assistant to transfer files (documents and photos) from a PC to my new MacBook WITHOUT creating a new user? And why the frick does the Setup Assistant not warn you on initial startup that if you do not transfer files then - you can only do it by creating a seperate user. This should be simple. Transfer files. sounds easy.

It is user friendly - that's why it asks you to migrate all of your info in the very beginning during the setup of your new Mac.
Migration Assistant creates a new user after it does its job. There's no way around that.
You can either manually move the files over from your PC into the Mac or you can use MA, let it create a new user and then share those files between the new user and your current user. When you're done you can then delete the newly (and now empty) migrated user. You cannot migrate files from another computer and have them placed into your current user.

  • Do we have a Beehive Webservice to create a new user?

    Hi,
I need a web service that can create a new user on the beehive server. Do we have such a functionality exposed as a web service?
    Thanks,
    Rajesh.

Then, how am I supposed to access various services? because most of these services are taking 'User' object as input...
I have the following requirements, how can I achieve them using Beehive services?:
    1) Create a couple of user-accounts on beehive
    2) send/receive mails, instant messages
    3) create documents, tasks.
Beehive exposes all the above functionalities as services, but all of these need the 'User' details. How can I supply User details, If I dont have a User account in the beehive repository? I am confused, please guide me...
    Thanks,
    Rajesh.

  • How can I set up my spouse's e-mail account separate from mine on our shared iMac

My wife and I like to keep our e-mail accounts separate, so we don't have to sort through all of it.  We also like to keep our apple accounts seperarte, although we do share an iCloud account for sinking contacts and calanders.
We are new to apple PC's and even had to call find out where to turn our new iMac on.  What is the best way to set this up?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can create a new user for one of you. It's easy to create an user > http://support.apple.com/kb/ph4600
After creating the account, the computer will ask you the user you want to log in every time you start your Mac, so just choose the one you need. After creating the user account, access to this user account and configurate it. Go to System Preferences > iCloud to use iCloud, and open Mail and select File menu (on the menu bar) > Add Account, to add a mail account

  • I have a 5 yr. old iPhone 3GS, I can't back it up to my laptop, it's not working, but wondered if i can back it up to her laptop, if I create a new user account name, w/out losing her info?

My 5+ yr. old iPhone 3GS is on it's last legs. I desperatly need to "back it up" ASAP, so I can buy a new iPhone, and I really need to be able to transfer my 5 years worth of info to a new iPhone, (a 4S). The computer I used to back my iPhone on when I first got it no longer works, so I was wondering about being able to back my iPhone up to my daughters laptop, but she also has an iPhone 3GS, that's already backed up to her laptop. I know you couldnt back up two iPhones up to one computer, (at least that's what I was told, years ago), but I was recently told by an "Apple" rep that I could "probably" back my iPhone up to her computer without losing anyone's info, if I created a "Secondary User Name Account" on her computer. I'm not comfortble doing this unless I'm reassured more than being told that it's "probably" safe.
Does anyone know what options I have, and if this idea would result in one or both of us losing our info, if we tried to store two iPhones "back up info" on one laptop?
My phone's barely working at all, but I can still access my info, (for now, at least). I really need to do something now.
Could anyone who knows how this works please give me some info?
    Thanks in advance.

First, you don't have a 5+ year old 3GS. The 3GS has only been around for under 4 years. In fact, 5 years ago there were NO iPhones; the original iPhone (2 generations before the 3GS) came out on June 29, 2007 - not quite 5 years ago. The 3GS was released June 19, 2009.
That aside, you can sync multiple phones to one computer - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495. boogeyman is wrong. It is 100% safe to create an additional user name on her computer, log in with that name, and back up the phone. See this for details on what you want to do: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • How can I protect my data in numbers from unintentional user of my iPad by other family members? In other words, how can I password protect my numbers and other apps from apple computer company?

I have other members of my family use my iPad for educational/recreational use, young children who may want to play kid games. I don't want them to accdently get into my data stored in the three business apps from apple. I would like to password protect these files.
I would also like to log out of the email systems that I use, so some one else can use this device to access their own emails. By leaving my accounts open al the time, is really asking for trouble from a host of sources.
I can't believe that the iPad is not designed to protect the privacy and data from prying eyes ... Un intuitional as it may be.
Please fix this issue so I create my info on this device and enjoy it fully. Or tell me how I can protect my data.
    Thnax.

Thanx for your response. Any data stored anywhere should be able to be protected from stealing, malicious destruction or unintentional destruction. Theo ad an be stolen and without any kind ofpassword protection, the thief could get into your sensitive data.
If Apple wants iPad to become a business tool that can be used with ideas, thots, data protected, then Apple needs to provide this protection to it's customers. Now it's unto the users to use it or not.
I know iPad is being considered to be used by doctors, and can u imagine the confidentiality requirements of HIPPA rules... It will make this device not usable without data protection. I am sureweall have heard about hacking going on at all levels. It's surprising that this device's software is left unprotected.
My iPad may be sitting on my desk and my 3 year old grand daughter would pick it up and start "playing" with it. That means I can't store anything on this machine that may possibly be changed.
I have discussed this with specialists in apple stores, and those who have been around info technology understand my concerns and they may forward this request further up. They do not have the answer for it..... So far.
I think data security should be everyone's concern... Be it a one person device or multiple user device.
I hope that some responsible people at Apple would read this and provide the protection that will make this device lot more acceptable in the business world.

  • I can not create a new user account on eprint

i can not create a new user account on eprint. I have been trying for over an hour and it repeats telling me that my email addresses are not entered correctly, however they match. ?

I have tried to create an account via ePrintCenter and it seems that the published application has several flaws in interpreting the provided input.
    1) In the Filed for last Name I enter my last name, which consist of only Alph Characters. The form however thinks that there is some sort of special character and rejects my Input.
    2) E-Mail address. is not identical; OK, so I do a quick OCR on the E-Mail and guess what they are identical. Again the form Fails to recognize this.
    3) Enter a password (2 Fields) and a third is displayed which is marked as "*required" but is not labeled as to what the required info could possibly be. Or is it a 3 password confirmation box, who knows.
All I know is that a simple registration is a major pain with this HP site.
Any Help as to how to alleviate this would of course be greatly appreciated.
