Can CS4 be used in OS X Yosemite?

I have bought a Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium a few years back. I can download it in my mac but I can't use it as its not compatible on new os. But I have the serial numbers though. Any ways to solve this? I really need to use Ai & Ps.

  • Can CS4 be used (easily) to edit docs created in newer versions?

I have recently created a series of documents for work using the newest InDesign trial version. My trial is up, and now my boss and I are trying to figure out what to buy. We are a small non profit, with a pretty tight budget, and so my boss would prefer we buy an older version (the complete CS4 sells for under $500) and have the whole suite for one price rather than pay yearly for just one product (InDesign). We are currently only using InDesign, but would make use of Photoshop if we could afford it as well. I should note that we are not making anything terribly complicated, but may hire someone down the line with greater skills than I have.
I have three concerns about this:
    1. Opening files created in newer versions — since our trial has ended, we now longer have access to the newer version of InDesign to "downsave" our files.
    2. My computer is a Mac running on Yosemite 10.10.3, so I don't know if CS4 will work.
    3. Will files created in CS4 be able to be opened in newer versions should we hire a designer with access to more updated software?
    Any guidance is appreciated.
    Thanks!

    1.       Correct.
    2.       Maybe…maybe not. CS4 is unsupported.
    3.       That should not be an issue.
You should note that CS4 has not been sold through any legitimate channel in quite a few years. The likelihood of buying a genuine copy of CS4 is very low.

  • Can CS4 be used on a computer not connected to the internet?

Does anyone know if CS4 be activated on a computer which is not connected to the internet?
    Thank you,
    ~Shawn

Yes, but you'll need to activate by phone. You'll also need to download all the patches with a different machine and manually apply them.

  • Can CS4 be used with windows 7

I had CS4 but my IT says it is incompatible with CS7. Is this true?

I meant is it compatible with "Windows 7".

  • After switching  to Creative Cloud can I still use my boxed CS4 as a second product?

I'd like to start using Creative Cloud. As I already have boxed CS4 version I am qualified for a first year discount.
Does it count as an "upgrade" or as buying new product with "discount". In other words, can I use Creative Cloud (bought with a discount for owning CS4) on one/two computer as one license and still use my old CS4 on another(1 or 2) computer as a separate license (for other person to work with)?

    Hi Marta,
I believe it countrs as an upgrade, which typically means you can continue to use the prior version on the same computer and cannot sell it.

  • I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

I'm going back to cs4 after using cs6 and I can't open nef files in camera raw.

Each camera needs a specific camera raw version (ACR).  And each ACR is tied to a specific version of PS.  See this list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

  • Can Adobe Photoshop CS4 be used for 3d modeling?

hello, I know Adobe Photoshop Extended can be used for 3d modeling but can just the normal Adobe Photoshop CS4 be used in the same way because i dont feel like buying it for $1000 but I need Photoshop for my 3d models for texturing. So can the normal Photoshop be used the same way as the Extended can and will not make a difference? Thanks
    Stephen

I know Adobe Photoshop Extended can be used for 3d modeling
No - it can't do 3d modelling - what it can do is 3D rendering, to some extent. Photoshop CS4 extended only has primitives (cubes, rhombus etc) and these are not editable. So full 3d rendering is not possible. You have to load in models created in other software,
Extended's 3D capabilities are in the process of development - meaning that they decided to INTRODUCE it into CS3 and 4, but its far from the finished article. Both in terms of interface and capabilities. Now the rendering, animation capabilities, and ease of use is better than most people realise - but it sill has efficiency, and design problems, which need to be reassessed. Its more like BETA2 than finished product.

  • Has anyone downloaded Yosemite and found that there are no ore scroll bars? I have to move the window (of any window, Skype window, browser window etc.) in order to find the scroll bar and then it disappears so fast I can't even use it.

Has anyone downloaded Yosemite and found that there are no ore scroll bars? I have to move the window (of any window, Skype window, browser window etc.) in order to find the scroll bar and then it disappears so fast I can't even use it.

Not sure why that was unchecked but good to know!
Apple's new default (since at least a couple of OS releases back) is to have it off so OS X matches the behavior of an iPhone or iPad.
I almost never need a scroll bar, and when I do, I just move over to the edge of the window when scrolling and a larger scroll bar appears.
Yes, for the most part, users don't really need the scroll bar. That's what the scroll wheel on almost all mice is for. Saves the trip over to bar to physically grab and move it. But, I do like it on all the time regardless. That way (especially with a long article) I can just take a quick glance over to the bar to see about where I am on the page (a third of the way down? halfway?). Otherwise, I have to move the page just to make it appear to give me the same information.

  • If I upgrade to OS Yosemite, can I still use office 2011 on my Mac

If I upgrade to OS X Yosemite 10.10, can I still use office 2011 on my MacBook Pro 2011

Yes, I am still using mine. As long as you don't do a fresh install, which is deleting the hard drive then installing Yosemite. However, I recommend a new fresh install every update. It keeps the computer in tip top shape.

  • Can i just use photoshop cs4 to rotobrush footage?

there is this new feature I have seen in after effects cs5 called rotobrush. at first glance it appears to be a photoshop selection tool that has been ported over to after effects. is this correct? if so can i just use the video features in photoshop to achieve the same effect? I am struggling with a green screen shot where the screen is reflecting in the side of the car. i may need to just lose the green screen altogether and shoot the car and actor against a kind of uniform brown background and rotoscope the actor and car. instead of upgrading to production studio cs6 perhaps i can already do what i need to do with my existing software which is cs4.
    thanks in advance
    Angus

I looked at the two clips, and I'm sorry you're so far into the project.  Bad reflections.  Unwanted shadows.  I noticed you wondered out loud, "How do they do it in Hollywood?"
For starters, they use visual effects people with years of training and experience.  They have photographers who already know how to shoot for visual effects.  Frame One never gets shot until they KNOW things will work.
The only time they shoot just on faith of success is when they shoot test footage.  Not in production.
In my opinion, you're at this metaphorical point:
You're sitting on the limb of a tree, working hard to saw the limb off.  Unfortunately, you're making the cut between you and the tree trunk.  Once you realize the mistake, you have two options: stop immediately, give it up as a bad job, climb down and try again later... or keep on working and fall hard.
Thus, I offer advice you won't want to hear: stop right now.  Cut your losses.  Don't waste your time and money until you get the knowledge you need.
This is a good and comparatively inexpensive  starting point.

I am using several Macs running Yosemite. I was recently “upgraded” to Xfinity’s new cable modem which can support both 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz networks at the same time. Actually I can connect to the internet over both with a satisfactory bump in speed for the Ghz. However when I connect to the 5Ghz the Time capsule disappears from the Airport Utility and claims to be Not Found. Is there something I have done wrong or just a Yosemite Teething Problem

First restart your mac and try again.
    It could be
that the router and the TC are interfering wirelessly with each other.
You can check this by pressing the option key while clicking on the wireless icon on your screen
    Open Wireless Diagnostics
    enter your user password
    Press CMD 4 then Scan
You will see all the wireless channels being used in your location and you can check if they are on the same channel
Make the SSID for the TC simple like MyTC
    Set 5Ghz to auto
    Update the TC
    Try again

  • Why can't I use my backup disk with Yosemite?

Why can't I use my backup disk with Yosemite? It does not seem to recognize my back up disk. What do I do? I don't want to lose my backup by removing the disk.
I can't find anyone else with the same problem.

  • Can't resize partition after upgrading to Yosemite (using SSD drive)

I upgraded to 10.10 and using SSD drive now. When I was using OS X 10.8.5, I could freely resize partition but not anymore. I guess because of the SSD drive and the new version of OS X, and Logical Volume Group could be involved. I don't want to waste 80 GB of SSD drive so really looking for a solution now. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's exactly what I did. I had to go back to my old snow leopard install DVD, use the disk utility on that to repartition the drive. I made 2 partitions, installed Snow Leopard on one, used that to install Yosemite on the other partition and trashed the snow leopard install.
I haven't yet tried the Yosemite USB install method which would have probably been faster as I could have avoided installing SL.

  • CS4 transferred to an iMac with Yosemite OS, installed Java update, still won't  open.

CS4 transferred to an iMac with Yosemite OS, installed Java update, still won't  open. Should I reinstall from disks or can I get a free upgrade to CS6?

    there's no free upgrade.
you 'transferred' or you properly installed cs4 using the installation files?
