Can CS5 plug-ins, presets, panels be moved to CS6?

I upgraded from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, but some of CS5 Plug-ins, Panels and Presets remain that I'd like to use. Can I move them to CS6?

Hello!
If you saved the presets in the default location, you can move them using the migration script.
You will find all the info in this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4287533#4287533
For the plug-ins, the question is more tricky: not knowing if you were using mac or pc, if they were of the 32 or 64 bits kind...
Here is a FAQ on moving plug-ins in CS6: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/965931?tstart=0
In general, simple, free plug-ins should be installed in a folder you create, either somewhere under the default plug-ins folder, or anywere in your hard drive, and then you point to it in preferences>plug-ins
More complicated plug-ins, and most commercial plug-ins should be reinstalled for your new version of Photoshop. It is a good idea to check for updated versions.
If you run into issues with plug-ins, do check this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-plug-ins-photoshop-cs4.html#main_Pho toshop_CS5_Optional_Plugins
For the panels, did you get their updated version for CS6? and did you install the new adobe exchange panel. https://www.adobeexchange.com/ to browse, discover, install and rate many new ones?

  • Can I move my Photoshop CS5 plug-ins (e.g. Imagenomic's Portraiture) to Photoshop Cloud?

I just installed Photoshop Cloud today.  I see that it does not include any of my plug-ins from my 64-bit Photoshop CS6 on my desktop.  Is it possible to move the plug-ins into Photoshop Cloud?

Moved from the Creative Cloud to the Photoshop forum. Folks here may know about specific plug-ins.
For the most part I believe the general advice will be to contact the plug-in maker via email or their forums to see if the plug-ins are compatible, require and up-grade, etc.

I copied my PS CS5 Plug Ins folder into my CS6  one & it started having problems opening & errors... would someone be able to tell me what the basic/original ones should be in PS CS^6 Plug In folder please?

That would be any other plug-ins you've installed after Photoshop.  Out of the box that folder is completely empty with Photoshop CS6.
To be completely accurate, what you did wrong was that you copied plug-ins that were supplied by Adobe with the earlier version of Photoshop.  Those plug-ins logically conflict with the current ones Adobe supplies with Photoshop, which are now provided in another place.
They've changed the folder structure, so no longer are any plug-ins supplied by Adobe put in that folder.  Hopefully for a future version update you can copy those you have in Photoshop CS6 without getting yourself into the same trouble.

  • CS5 plug-ins with CS4

Are CS5 64-bit plug-ins going to be fat binary so they can run in 32-bit CS4?
Is there any reason to upgrade CS5 plug-ins if a user is sticking with CS4?

You might ask in InDesign to learn how to install plugins

What IS your operating system, and which exact version?
Is the link below where you are starting for upgrades?

  • Can Logic plug ins remove background noise from interview?

Can Logic plug ins remove background noise from interview?
A friend with an important interview recorded in noisy conditions has asked me to help remove background noise - never done this technically.
Is there a Logic or third party plug in that would could remove background noise from a spoken word interview? Have tried EQ which improves the sound slightly but not a solution.
Anyone with specialised knowledge of this sound editing operation?
    cheers
    MS

There are several 3rd party denoisers, they mostly work by first 'learning' the noise footprint of the audio, for which it is best to record a few seconds of silence (with an open mic).
These will all do a decent to excellent (it all depends on the source material) job:
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/3199.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2104.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2791.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1182.html
    http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1029.html
    Addit:
Is it that background noise (traffic, talking etc) drowns out the words? Then you'd probably have more luck with (radical) eq-ing and/or notch filtering to find the most dominant frequency range of the speaker in relation to the background noise.
As an interviewer myself I will point out that even with a small disctaphone you need to have some awareness of how the microphone picks up things. As soon as you nead to lean towards whoever you're talking to, just to make sure you're audible, the dictaphone on the table is probably recording mainly ambient noise, the interview being part of that. This is especially a problem when interviewing in a busy public space.

  • Adobe Design Premium CS5 Plug-Ins

My company bought Adobe Design Premium CS5 for me, but when I try to use the software I get an error that says the program can't be opened because I need to upgrade the plug-ins to the latest versions or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Indesign.  How do I go about doing this?  Thanks in advance.

Reinstall the program with sufficient user privileges/ file permissions. It is not installed correctly.

  • How do I import or put in downloaded plug-ins/presets?

So recently I've just been getting into 8-bit/16-bit music and I downloaded some presets for drums and plug-ins for synthesizers and such and I just have no idea how to install them on my computer. I am aware there are sub-folders, but where do I put my presets/plug-ins? They are ".cst" files and I am so confused. Thank you and please help I would really like to make 8-bit/16-bit music thank you very much!!

.cst are channel strip settings.. Not plugins...
    In your User folder...
    Music/Audio Music Apps/Channel Strip Settings
...and then put in the appropriate folder inside there for the type of .cst they are....

  • CS5 Plug-ins won't download

Trying to fix the lack of a Twain connection to scanner, I have tried for 4 days to download the Plug-ins fix.  The little clock just keeps rotating and nothing happens.  Help!

I am using Windows7 64-bit, Photoshop CS5, trying to establish a Twain connection with Epson 4490 PHOTO scanner (twain was available with CS4). I have a new loaded DELL Studio computer.   When I asked for help from Adobe, I was directed to the Plug-ins and sent to a "Download" . For a few days I have done this and when I click on Download, the clock starts but nothing else.
I think all I need is a way to download that file(s).   This version of Photoshop also wont recognize the colour profile i use with my DELL monitor, evebn though CS4 had no problems with it.  Oh well ....
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.  Thanks for your response.

  • Hi location of plug ins presets in finder

I want to save new presets but along the ones that it already comes with it... when i try to save a preset it gives me my documents and i want to save the presets all in one place and what better place then along all other factory presets! i tried in the manuals but it doesnt give me folder! thanks in advance

    Hi
The factory presets and settings are generally in
    Library:Application Support:Logic
By default items you save will be in <User>:Library:Application Support:Logic
Then in the appropriate folders for Channel Strip Settings or Plugin Settings.
Note that it can be handy to have your settings and the like separate from the factory stuff: it makes it easier to backup or copy.

  • CS5 Plug Ins Issue

    Hi
I'm a self taught InDesign user so there have been some pretty steep learning curves!  My latest is that my client uses CS5 InDesign and I only had 3 so couldn’t open their files.  I downloaded the CS5 trial and have been using that but now they can't open those files....  They have the latest updates installed so I have no idea where to go from here.  Very frustrating (especially as they have just taken me on as an employee and I now need to deliver on my own creation!).  No pressure lol :-)
    Any advice is much appreciated!

Thansk Stix - I had wondered but had come across the idml extension when I was looking for my answers.  All sorted and well underway now!  You guys have been superb!

  • Good plug-ins or methods for moving mesh warps

AE doesn't let you move or track a mesh warp onto an item inside of a shot easily. It won't even work on an adjustment layer (OR maybe I'm doing something wrong?). The best workaround I've seen is this:
    http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorial/demon_face_warp/
But it is a lot of steps and it really is a work around and not a straight forward solution that can be relied upon 100% of the time.
I was hoping for more instant gratification with perhaps a plug-in like this:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Plugins/RE-Flex-After-Effects-Plug in.shtml
The problem is that one costs $600. Anyone heard of one that does the same for less, or FREE?
I'm also open to new methods, but please don't recommend something you haven't already tested yourself.
    Thanks!

Complex technology, complex pricing model. RE:Flex is pretty much the only warping/ morphing plug-in left on the planet (including for most of the other compositing apps, not just AE), unfortunately, so options are limited. Inside AE, of course Liquify and the Puppet tool as wel las all the other distortion tools. FreeForm is certainly a viable option for some tasks, but since it suffers the usual limitation of any AE 3D-ish plug-in being a 2D layer with a custom 3D space, tweaking it to match existing footage is pretty tricky. That being so, the next logical step are 3D programs with UV mapping, deformers, bones and their own set of morphing...

  • Problems with photoshop cs5 plug ins

Since upgrading to Lion and OnOne Photo Suite 6, every time I create an action and try to run it, the action stops to have me set the specifics, which I have a saved preset for. Anybody has any solution, suggestions? Greatly appreciated!!!

  • Plug ins presets

I'm using Mainstage with UAD-2 for live PA mixing and wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to change presets on all the plugins with one button or command?

    Thanks.
That could be a solution, but the problem is that each new patch also creates new, separate plugins that is active even if I'm operating in a different patch. With heavy plugins like Fatso, reverbs and Cooper delay, I quickly meet the limit of the number of plugins the computer and DSP-card will handle.
So...no, this will not solve my problem. Hopefully an upgrade of Mainstage someday will solve this problem. If anybody have suggestions to other software that could be more suitable for live mixing, please let me know.

  • Moving plug-ins from Elements to CS5

    Hello,
I just installed CS5 and have been using Elements 8, i had purchased the TopazLabs plug in package a few weeks ago and now i want them to work in my Photoshop CS5.  Can someone please tell me the steps to take to move or copy them into CS5, i am not 100% sure where they go.  I did see the plug in folder in CS5 in my "program file (x86) >Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5>Plug-Ins.  Is that the right path? Also, do i just dump the files in one by one or do they go into a specific folder once i am in the plig in folder itself.  I have 12 differen  folders within the Plug in file/folder.  I need some reassurance to make sure i am doing it correctly.  I dont want to mess anything up with CS5.  Thank you for any help you can provide.

Thank you very, very much for helping me out, i didnt even think about the fact that Elements plug ins may not even work with Photoshop jCS5 so thanks for setting me straight on that.  I really want those plug ins but ever since i installed CS5 i cant get my Photoshop Elements 8 program open, it opens and a split second later it shuts down  and have no idea why.  I was using Elememts that day that i installed CS5 so i know it worked prior to the install of cs5.  I am using windows 7 64bit.  I put a phone call into Adobe who said they would call me back in 8 min and that was at least 2 hrs ago.  I am not to computer literate so i dont dare start messing with files until i get instructions from someone who does know what there doing.
Also, in response to the question about how i got the Topaz plug ins into Elements, well, i installed like normal and then had to copy the file into the Elements folder, it worked perfectly, that was Topaz instructed people to do if they didnt show up when you ran the auto installer.  I will get ahold of topaz and see if there is anything I can do about "exchanging' my elements serial number for a CS serial number, its worth a try anyway becasue i just bought them and I love what they do.
thanks again to all of you who helped me out on this issue.
