Can data that has been erased but not backed up be restored?

i'm pretty sure i backed up my iphone4 when i intially started the sync process for my music with iTunes. however, a friend used my pc and iTunes for her phone and now i can not find my data/media...etc. last night i tried to sync my phone for new music and all of her data/media...etc appeared on my phone. so i had to reset/erase all of that stuff. is there any way my info is somewhere stored that i dont know about? help! thank you!

Without connecting your phone, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices. Under Backups check to see if you have a backup of your phone listed, and if so, if it was made before you lost your data. (If you're having trouble identifying if it's your phone or not, hover your mouse over the name of the backup to reveal the phone number of the device the backup belongs to.)
If you do have a backup listed, in iTunes>Preferences>Devices check "Prevent... from automatically syncing". Next connect your phone, then right-click on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes (if using iTunes 11 first go to View>Show Sidebar) and choose Restore from Backup. Then select the backup you identified earlier to restore from.

Hi, I have sent an imessage to my daughter who is in Spain for a week. The first one failed and the second is blue but doesn't say delivered. I don't have my phone set to send as a text if the imessage fails. My question is if I delete the imessage will that stop it being delivered. I no longer want her to see the message that I've sent, it unlikely she'll link up to wifi while she is there so will the message just fail to send? Thanks

Just to clarify, if it sent but wasnt delivered, the next time she connects to wifi or her carriers data network, she will recieve the message. If the message fails to send, you can delete it and it wont be sent.

Can I retrive data that has been wiped out because I forgot my password? I tried my password 10 times and forgot it and it wiped everything out when I finally remembered my password and logged in. Is there a way to retrieve the data?

For iOS the ipad version shows the folio that has been published, but the iPhone app is not.

I am responsible for handling the apps and not at all involved with or know how the folio creation process works.

I keep receiving a prompt that my account has been disabled, but not for secruity reasons. I had problems almost half a year ago with unauthorized purchases. When I asked Apple about the purchases, instead of providing answers, they said they would disable the account. Not only is that awful customer service and not answering my question, it's a HUGE pain in the butt because I just want to download some music legally!!! Does anyone in Apple Universe have any suggestions before I rip the rest of my hair out?

In the Mac side of things, backups usually come in two flavors: clones or incrementals.
A bootable clone is a bit-for-bit copy of all essential files in the startup volume. If using the Lions, clones can be made using CarbonCopyCloner or just plain old Disk Utility. These backups represent the safest protection of your info, but take the longest to do. Recovery is an inverse process: you copy the clone back into the internal drive.
Incremental backups start with a complete backup of the startup volume and only copy whatever changed from the previous run. OS X includes the fully integrated Time Machine backup utility to do this. It is extremely easy to do and takes the least amount of time. Recovery is another matter altogether since you have to start with a freshly installed instance of the OS and have to apply all intervening backups to bring the result to the latest saved version.
As for where the backup takes place, the recommended media is an external dedicated drive or drives connected via the fastest interface available on your Mac: Thunderbolt, USB3, Firewire, or USB2. Network-based backups, wired or wireless, are attractive but may not offer the same performance and hence take longer. Also important to note that the entire drive need not be completely dedicated to a single backup. The Mac's EFI firmware infrastructure allows for an unlimited number of partitions on a hard drive and each can be used for either type of backups.

Your above posted system details show multiple Java Console extensions.
You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions and disable the Java Quick Starter extension as you do not need them to run Java applets.

In addition to Niel's comments, if you plan to use Time Machine to backup a Mac to the secondary drive.....that application needs a drive that has been specifically formattted for Mac. That would be Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
PCs can also read and write to the Mac formatted drive.

My nano has been detected, but not identified. What do I do?

Help. I plugged in my iPod, and a little warning showed up that said, "An iPod has been detected, but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again." Guess what? I did that maybe thirty times. Didn't work. Advice?

First I assume youre using ipod nano 5g and you have downloaded newest itunes 9?

Once you find device manager the basic info below applies:
Plug the nano in. Now in your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage". Click "Device Manager".
"Expand "USB devices". Can you see an entry in there for the Apple iPod driver? If so, right click on that and select "Uninstall" Or if it offers to repair it can try that first. Click OK. (The uninstall choice may take a while, leave it to its own devices for a while. this only uninstalls drivers not itunes to my knowledge).
After the driver uninstalls, unplug the nano. Wait until it has finished saying OK to disconnect on the nano screen
Now plug the nano back in. This should reinstall the driver"

TV show that has been downloaded but Apple TV streams it anyway.

When I go to watch a TV show that has been downloaded to my iTunes library, Apple TV streams it, instead of playing off my iTunes downloaded file. Is this how it works? I expect that if I download a purchase, that Apple TV would instantly play the local file, and not bother with streaming. Is this something I can correct with a preference config or some digital voodoo?

Speednet always clocks me at 20-23Mbps, just checked it. ALL my internet functions seem to work well. Apple TV has no problems streaming, Netflix, Hulu, or iTunes radio. I can play any of my iTunes music library with the Apple TV remote. I have also watched two streaming episodes from Apple TV. Additonally, some DVD's that I had ripped to iTunes will play from my iTunes library on Apple TV. My only problem seems to be purchased TV. They show up in iTunes, they show up on Apple TV, both in the TV shows>Purchased pathway, and in the Computers>my iTunes library>TV shows pathway. They just don't seem to play when try the computer>iTunes route.

Is there a way to format text data that has been persisted?

I am persisting five lines of numeric data in my app. Each persisted line of data saves and returns perfectly after a ro-boot, except for the text size and color.
To be clear : If I save 199.55, that is what appears after a device re-boot. The 'formatting' I am having issues with it the font size and color.
For some reason, the font sizes have changed and some of the font colors are incorrect.
Is there a way to correct this or prevent it from happening?
