Can Digital Rights Management protect Free Books Account?

Hello,
Does anyone know if the Digital Rights Management protect Free Books Account?
Kind Regards,
Sonia

Define 'protect'...
Or do you mean is it an option for free books versus paid?

  • HT1937 How can I cancel my iTunes Free Books Account?

Repeat: how can I cancel my iTunes Free Books Account?

Just stop using it. Anything you downloaded is forever tied to that account
and you will need to use that account for any updates to items downloaded
    with the account.
What is the problem that you wish to cancel the account? If you give more
detail, perhaps someone may suggest a solution.

  • How can I transition from a free books account to a paid books account?

I created a free books account (based on my existing itunes ID) to post 2 books just to test out the process.  Now that I feel like I know what I'm doing, I'd like to update a paid book, but can't figure out how to go about doing it.  I created a second Itunes ID to create a paid book account, but then the SSN I used for that account was the same (obviously) as the one I used for the free account and that's where I ran up against a wall.  What to do now?
    Thanks!

You  will need to retain your free books account - its not 'transferable" in any way.
You will need to apply for for a Paid Books account, new "username" email address is required.
You will need to fulfil the  requirements in the Contracts and Banking section of  your "new account" - you can use the same bank and credit card details and you will to apply to the USA tax office for an EIN.
    I used this.
1-267-941-1099   USA IRS Telephone    - you  may have to  change the country code from 1
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fss4.pdf     Its better to download teh PDF, print it off, fill it in and have it with you when you  phone the IRS.  Try to calculate your call to be  6.30pm  East Coast US time - they work till 7pm   so at  6.30pm.. it is usually a quiet  time and should  mean no  waiting online for an agent.

  • I cannot open a book borrowed from the library on my kobo. It says, "this document is protected by Adobe Digital Rights Management licence which has expired. Please renew." How do I do this?

How do you renew Adobe Digital Rights Management licence?

You need "sysinternal's process explorer", it is free and can replace the Microsoft process explorer, that you get by "CTRL+ALT+DELETE". Either program will allow you to kill the instances of FF that didn't die as they should have, when you closed them. Sysinternal is easier to use, it is a graphic display with many options. Do not push "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" twice unless you want to reboot, that is its default behaviour under Microsoft.

  • Why unable to open the item? Or "Protected by Digital Rights Management".

I read ebooks with Adobe Reader. But lately some books (file type epub) are impossible to open. When trying on my PC (Windows 8) I get the answer ”Unable to open the item. Please contact Sony customer support. Error: document.”. And when trying on my ebook reader Sony PRS-T2 i get the answer ”Protected by Digital Rights Management”.
Moreover, it is the same thing with my android devices (tablet Sony Xperia Z2 and smartphone Sony Xperia ZR), where I use UB Reader to read. My tablet says ”Filformatet stöds inte.” (= The file format is not supported.) And my smartphone says ”Du har inte rätt att öppna den här boken. Kontrollera ditt Adobe ID.” (= You are not allowed to open this book. Check your Adobe ID,)
I have been able to read the ebooks earlier but some months ago (or earlier, I don´t know exactly) this happened. I have a valid Adobe ID and have bought and downloaded the books from big and established book shops.
Do somebody know what has happened? And what I can do, to be able to read the books?

Same issue. I looked through the forums, contacted customer service both online and by phone.  Support just refers me to the forums or to the other method of contacting customer support.  This seems like such a basic issue, too.

  • Cann't load LiveCycle Rights Management protected books

I cann't load Adobe LiveCycle Right Management protected books in Adobe Digital Editions. Should it be possible?
I can read the books with Acrobat Reader 9, but it would be nice to have then in the library of Adobe Digital Editions.
I cann't even read then in my Sony Reader Library and copy and read them on my Sony Reader PRS-505.
Is there a solution for one of these problems or better both?

No, loading PDFs protected with LiveCycle Rights Management is not possible using ADE, you will need to use Adobe Reader, or Adobe Acrobat instead.

I would ask in then Digital Editions forum, Adobe Digital Editions

  • I changed my Adobe user ID when we changed from Windows PC to Mac and now I am unable to read previously downloaded ebooks on my Sony Reader device due to Digital Rights Management.  Can I resolve this?

I changed my Adobe user ID when we changed from Windows PC to Mac and now I am unable to read previously downloaded ebooks on my Sony Reader device due to Digital Rights Management.  Any ideas how I can get access to these now?

    Hi Blotontheland,
Thanks for the prompt reply. The interesting thing is that my Macbook Pro was upgraded today to Yosemite and I still have the spinning wheel on the start up screen before the login page comes up.

    The solutiuon is here.....
Apple have new requirements..... iTunes, iBooks Free and iBooks Paid each require a diferent  ID -  email address and passwords.
Apple  do not seem to think  about chaning the website everytime they change rules and requirements.
For World renowned high tech products business.... at times they do nothing to  help their users!!

  • Pls help on error on ereader "this document is protected by DRM ( adobe digital rights management ) and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe id

how do i solve this in order for the e reader to open the file?“this document is protected by DRM ( adobe digital rights management ) and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe id
    thnaks

This is something you will need to talk to the publisher of the document. They might have to do something to allow you to open the file. (If you changed Adobe ID since buying the file, for instance, they might have to allow for that).

  • How do I open book on iPad that has adobe digital rights management?..

How do I open a book on my iPad that is locked because it says that I need to open it by  using Adobe digital rights management.   I've downloaded the Adobe reader and it still won't work, help!

The Adobe Reader does not support opening these books. I believe that the "BlueFire Reader" does support this though.

  • Can't sign up for a Free Books Account

I'm trying to sell a book for free wthout an ISBN.
I just discovered that you cannot do this with a Paid Books Account. Evidently, with a Paid Books Account you must have an ISBN no matter what price you set, even if its free.
So, I set up a second Apple ID, confirmed a second credit card, and when I go to sign up for a Free Books Account, I get this error:
Is anyone else having this issue?

I feel your pain. I am working on a free e-book project to raise awareness for ALS and running into the same difficulty. We have some big name celebrities lending their Names to the book and are now being forced to explore alternate distribution networks. You are not alone!

  • Digital rights management

I am trying to purchase a book on Kobo and have downloaded the ipad 2 app for adobe which is required.  I get the message book is protected by adobe digital rights management, you'll need to sign in with Id to authorise this app before reading this book.  How do I do this?

II'm having the same problem! But I didn't know you needed a special app to download to get the books. Ivan get the book I just can't open it to read it!!! I am soooooo frustrated!!!

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • What's the Bennefit of Digital Rights Management? re: Audigy2 Upd

Regarding the newly posted Audigy2 update, if you already have the previous 3 updates loaded, what is the bennefit of Digital Rights Management?
    Edit, found this.
"SPDIF output is not available during playback of protected <B>digital</B> audio contents authored with Microsoft DRM (<B>Digital</B> <B>Rights</B> <B>Management</B>) technology. "

    Hi. Thanks.
I loan out CD's and records to friend but to my knowledge they just use it to listen to, they then do the same for me.
So if I get this correctly, downloading music from iTunes is like downloading Apps in that it does not matter which device I load it onto? Or is there a hiccup here in terms of having a laptop, desktop and iPhone? For instance my iPhone is synced up to my laptop (it used to be synced to the desktop) and I had/have to be very careful about making sure I transferred my Apps over to the laptop - using the iPhone I think - when I started syncing the device with the laptop. There was some risk of losing all the Apps if I did this correctly, no?
Is it the same with music downloads? should I only download from my iPhone/laptop combo or an iPhone/desktop combo? I mean, I actually find it /more/ convenient to do things on the desktop machine but this makes it hard to sync with the laptop if I am traveling so I now only download APPS to the laptop machine.
Does this question make sense? Do I need to use one computer or another for this?
Also, in terms of my other burned CD Roms (that are now digital), I assume these are non DRM and I can move them laptop to desktop to iPhone and back with no issues whatsoever?
I mean is there a difference in this respect between iTunes downloaded songs and ripped songs from my collection?
    Thanks.
