Can do everything except record with USB card. Motherboard probl

Hi all. Here's a problem that I'm stumped on. I've looked through the previous entries and tried various things already. I'm using an older external SB soundcard (Audilogy MP3 #580270) and a newer computer (AMD Anthlon 64x2 dual core) that was sold with Vista, but I converted it back to XP-SP2. I've done the Autoupdate and gotten all the latest drivers from Creative's website. The automatic diagnostics in the app say everything's working fine. The device manager says it's fine. I can here audio coming in on the soundcard, I can play files from application. However, I CAN'T get it to record. It looks like it's recording, but nothing transfers. I've checked the all the audio levels and nothing is muted. What's the problem Here are some possibilities. What do you think . The card is just not compatiable with this motherboard. But why can I get the computer to output audio 2. There are other sound drivers that are interfering with this. I've reinstalled various ways. Again, it plays back just fine. How do I disable the other drivers ("audio Codecs") Any ideas Paul

I filed a bug at OSS and I received the message that USB recording through OSS is officially broken and will probably not get fixed in a long time.

  • QT Pro won't stop recording with USB drive plugged in

A strange thing started happening. I have been recording student presentation for about a year. I record with a videocamera and firewire using QT pro (7.5.5). I then copy those short files to a their USB thumbdrives. What just started happening is that when I try to stop the recording, the beachball keeps spinning and spinning and I have to Force Quit. The recording is okay and on my desktop, but every time I try to record again, it happens again. Sometimes it hangs up so bad I can't even bring up the force quit dialogue box, and I have to use the power button to shut down. After trashing prefs etc, repairing permissions, re-installing, checking disc (using an external startup disc), I can't stop the problem. I found that if I do not have the drive plugged in, all goes well. I can stop the recording, then put in the drive and copy the file, and then remove the drive and start my next recording. If I have to, I'll do that, but I'd like to go back to the way it was. I can't think of what I might have installed that messed things up. I got rid of a couple of things that I thought might have done it (macam, and wvm something or other) but no help.
I had problems when 7.6 was released and I upgraded, so I'd rather not do that again (QT would not open, everything crashed and burned - was able to copy files and do a clean install, but it was a nightmare).
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

So unplug the USB drive, already. Record all to the hard drive and put them on the USB later.

  • IMAC won't boot with USB card reader attached

My quite new 24" iMAC won't boot if I have a USB card reader attached:
I get to the white screen with the apple logo, but it gets stuck there and the little spinning gear below the apple logo never appears (I've waited several minutes). (In all my test cases, there is no card in the card reader.)
I've tried two different card readers with the same results ("iDOTconnect" brand and a brand new Apacer unit, both are USB2.0 multi-format card readers).
The 1st one I tried via a USB hub, the second one I tried via a new hub and also directly connected to the mac (both of those hubs work fine).
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hello strathglass
The same thing can also happen with other connected devices such as external HD's and iPods, the Startup Manager is lost and searching for a boot volume.
    1. You may be able to fix it by going to: *System Preference / Startup Disk* and select the *Mac OS X 10.5.5 on Macintosh HD* then *Click the lock to prevent further changes.*
    2. Leave those devices that cause boot issues disconnected until the iMac is up and running!
    3. Only sleep the iMac, and be sure to disconnect those devices be for shutting down or updates that require a restart!
As a habit, I have always ejected and disconnected all mounted USB devices (flash driver, iPods, cameras, card reader, etc.) from my hub be for sleeping, restarting or shutting down...

  • To record with integrated cards

Hello friends. A question: Is it possible to record with Audition 3 with cards integrated to the motherboard ??.
If one can, how is it done ??.
It helps, please . Thank you.

On most machines it is easy to record  using the motherboard's on-board sound.
Audition 3 records using ASIO sound input. Most professional audio interfaces provide this, but most motherboards don't. To overcome this, Audition contains a small driver converter called "Audition Windows Sound" that converts the normal motherboard wdm sound drivers to asio.
So, to record from the on-board sound, you use the Windows inbuilt mixer and recording selector (best accessed via Sound in Control Panel) to set up the actual source, and then select Audition Windows Sound in the Audio Hardware setup under the Edit menu in Audition. Additional options and confusion is available via the "Control Panel" button on that menu. Different Windows operating systems behave differently, so it is difficult to give specific instructions.
Many people do experience some initial difficulty with all this, but it is almost always because of a lack of understanding of the Windows mixers and general sound handling. For some reason Microsoft seem unable to design a straightforward audio gui.
There is a free, often better alternative to "Audition Windows Sound" called ASIO4ALL, but I would always strat with the inbuilt converter first.

  • Can you edit CRM records with {Tag_edit}

    Hi,
I 'm wondering if I can edit my records with {tag_edit)
I can edit the web apps , but when I include the {module_firstname} and edit it. It wont edit the record in CRM.
So I wonder if there is way to do it?
I don't think it will be through web app.
What I'm aiming for is that web user can edit their own information throught a secure zone.
For example. I have created website , with back end. Custom back end. Once the user is registered. He can alter the details.
With out loggin in to admin panel and edit the record in CRM.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Can i buy the ibook with credit card

can I buy the iBook with credit card

You should be able to buy an ibook from the ibookstore with your credit card. If you don't already have the card on your iTunes account then you should be able to add it if it's registered to exactly the same name and address as you have on your account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country - you can either add it by logging into your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) on your iPad.

  • Can we import to imovie with usb connection rather than firewire??

    Dear Friends,
I am considering purchasing a new movie camera JVC EVERIO GZ-MG50E - PAL system.
Unfortunately it has only a usb connection and not a firewire one.
I have been importing until now into imovie with firewire.
Will I be able to import to imovie with usb?
    Will this require special software?
    Hope you can help.
    Thank you.

    Hi Robert:
Consider not purchasing that camera for imovie use. You will need to convert the MPEG files to DV which imovie uses...kind of a pain actually.

  • Can you  buy from iTunes with gift cards rather than use a credit card?

I have given my 17 year old nephew an ipod for his birthday and as he doesn't have a credit card can he use gift cards to buy from the iTunes store without one? Do you have to have a credit card to open an iTunes account? I wanted to give him a gift card to start him off with the iPod as he doesn't have many cd's to load on to it.

Yes, he can create an account and make purchases with gift card.
When he gets the gift card, have him open the iTunes store and click on Redeem at the top right under *Quick links*.
Input the card number then select *Create new account*.
Input the personal info and when it gets to credit card info, select None.

I bet you actually have USB 1.1, otherwise your 1st Gen nano wouldn't work with your computer. That having been said, the run kit ought to work fine with USB 1.1...

  • Can garage band be used with usb turntable to transfer lp's to digital?

i have a number of lp's that i want to transfer to my mac, is garage band capable of doing that or do i need other software? input appreciated, thanks
    17 G4 Powerbook - macmini   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You can do that with Garageband, but I wouldn't say it's the best software to do that. It will not split the cuts into the individual songs, and so unless you record one song at a time, each side of the LP will end up as one long cut. Then you will have to export each individual section to end up with songs. But if you already have GB and the USB turntable, you might just try it and see how it works. I have Peak and that works better for this type of thing.

  • SD card not mounting in card slot, mounts only with USB card reader

    hi all,
I have browsed this forum "Ports and interfaces on the MacBook Pro (2008 and Later)" for a bit and searched for "SD" but did not find any posts directly related to my issue here.
I have a Kingston 512Mb card which mounts in my MacBook Pro only when I insert it in a cardreader inserted in the USB port.
Directly in the memory card slot it does not mount. Other SD cards do mount. I did not yet recognise a pattern in what mounts and does not mount.
I need to mount this specific SD card in the memory slot because bigger, newer SD cards are not accepted by the device I am using the card in (an iRex iLiad).
The Kingston 512Mb SD card is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT16) according to Disk Utility.
Any suggestions on what I could try? Buying other 512Mb cards is not that easy, there is not a lot available and only the ones on this list http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/IliadSD_Memorycardslist are supported by the device.
    TIA!

Within a year or two, a device that is limited to 512MB and smaller cards — and only certain ones of those — will probably be completely useless. As you've found, no one else is interested in buying such tiny cards any more, and their production is likely to be discontinued very soon.
This does nothing to explain why your card can't be read in the built-in reader, though. One thing to check is the position of the "lock" slider on the card; a small handful of other posters with similar problems have reported that if the slider isn't securely locked or unlocked (I don't recall which), it gets disturbed as the card is inserted, and the card can't be read as a result.
If that doesn't solve the problem for you, just use your USB reader when you have to read that particular card. As you say, your other (presumably larger) cards are all read properly in the built-in reader, so you know the reader works. There may just be a minute manufacturing-tolerance problem with that particular card.

  • Why does my laptop have problems with USB card reader?

I have a PowerBook G4, and I connect a multi-slot card reader to a USB port to read CompactFlash media. I have two problems with it and wonder if anyone can help.
    1) When I "eject" the media, then physically remove the media from the card reader, I occasionally get a "Media not removed properly" alert message. I always wait several seconds after the media icon has disappeared from the desktop before removing the media. I can't seem to reproduce this on demand, but it appears to be happening more frequently.
    2) Once the media has been removed from the card reader, the computer no longer recognizes it when it is reinserted into the card reader. I have to unplug the card reader from the USB port, then plug it back before the media is recognized.
Any ideas how to resolve these issues?

    1) Wait longer. It can sometimes be necessary to wait as long as 15 seconds. I've never seen a good explanation of why.
    2) Are you plugging the reader directly into a USB port on the Powerbook? Are any other bus-powered USB devices connected simultaneously? If so, disconnect them and test again. If you have an AC-powered USB hub available (or can borrow one), try plugging that into the computer and the reader into the hub. (Don't use a bus-powered hub.)

  • Can you determine link status with USB Ethernet adapter?

I'm wanting to replace an old G4 PowerBook with a 11" MacBookAir. I install networks, and I often need to determine link status of an Ethernet connection. With the built-in Ethernet port on most Macs, you can check the Network Status to see if there is link on an Ethernet connection (either the green or yellow status signs).
If I am using the Apple USB Ethernet adapter, do I get similar feedback from the Network preference panel? If not, perhaps a terminal command that would do the same?

Yes - the Network Panel under System Preferences works the same as with a regular Mac, showing USB Ethernet status (connected, disconnected, etc) and with the updated connected IP address, etc.

  • Video recording with USB 6509

I am working on one project. In which I have CCD image sensor with EIA B/W video camera and its output is connected to Analog Front End(AFE). The output of AFE is 12 Bit Digital data at the rate of 9 MHz. I am thinking to use USB 6509 for data acquatision from AFE. Actually I want to produce one video file(e.g. 30 second video) from the AFE that is the reason I am using USB 6509 to get the digital data in my computer.
I know USB 6509 is compatible with LABView SignalExpress software.
Now, My question is, as I have data to my computer using USB 6509. How can I generate video file (preferrable lossless compression) from the digital data using the SignalExpress or Do I need any other software?
FYI: I am new to LABView.

    Hi erhk,
SignalExpress will not be able to create a video/image from the data; though, it will allow you to acquire it. If you can get the data into a 2D array of pixel values, you can use LabVIEW with the Vision Development Module to create a video with it. There also may be other programs out there that can convert the 2D array to a video/picture file.

  • Can Wireless Live! record to USB thumb drive?

If I were to get a USB portable thumb drive (8MB) and plug it into the Live! server could I have it record video when motion is detected? That would be a great feature since I wouldn't have to turn my home computer on while on vacation and it would allow me to access the files remotely.
Another question, if I were to change the camera to one that had a microphone as well as video, would the audio be recorded? Could I hear the audio while remotely monitoring the camera?

When you boot from the internal, start Disk Utility and mount the USB drive, what does it say about available space?
FWIW, I did the same thing in order to use DiskWarrior on a rMBP and what's on the USB drive is just a standard, bootable installation of Mountain Lion plus DiskWarrior. Disk Utility tells me that I have 7.43 GB free but that's because I used a 32 GB flash drive, not a 16 GB. Most of the time, if you're booting off a DVD, it's an installer, not a fully functioning install; DiskWarrior used to provide a bootable DVD but the last one was OS 10.4. I'm surprised you could fit a full ML install on 16 GB. I could fit Snow Leopard on a 16 GB flash drive, but not ML.
And yes, since the OS thinks it's simply a standard installation (which it is), it does have to be able to write to the boot drive. Also, the installer customizes the installation for the Mac it's being installed on. If the other machine you used to install ML on the flash drive is a different kind of Mac, you may run into compatibility problems.
