Can Download Setup, But Won't Install

i can download the setup of iTunes onto my computer, and I even save it onto my desktop or to my documents, but as soon as I click on it to start the installation i get a popup saying:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below"
Help! I've tried so many different paths and have deleted and redownloaded the setup sooo many times..
(By the way, this is for the new iPod Nano that does not come with the CD, iTunes must be downloaded from the apple site. This is my first time with an iPod therefore I've never downloaded this program before)

I've read so many articles and have been trying to fix this problem for months now. Please help.

We are not mind readers, if help is desired it is up to the user to provide useful details.
Also, hopefully the media on the computer and other important data was backed up. Reinstalling iTunes does not cause that content to magically re-appear.

Itunes 8 downloads ok but won't install (not updating)

Hi everyone.
Got an ipod for xmas, downloaded itunes 8 for 1st time (not updating), downloads ok, but when opening install program, "open file - security warning" dialog box opens, i click on run, the "unidentified program wants access to your computer" dialog box opens, i click the allow button, i get the 'thinking' cursor for 1 second then nothing happens.
I'm running it as an adminstrator, i've tried running the program in xp service pack 2 mode, i've redownloaded it 3 times, same thing every time i try. not a 64bit machine, i get no errors, it just does nothing.
The file i download is 67,146kb so something is actually there, can anybody please help, this is frustrating and my new ipod is a paperweight.

Yes i have a 32bit version of windows vista (premium)
Yes i downloaded itunes from the apple site, saved it and when i try to run it i get the hourglass for 1 second then nothing.
Looked in the task manager and nothing is running.
Never had any problem installing anything else or anything windows related.
I have spybot (rescanning now) and my antivirus is Nod32 so no risk of anything there. I even tried installing in safe mode, but no luck.
I am running firefox, not I.E. but that shouldn't matter.
I realize this is where people with problems come to gripe, but there seems to me to be a LOT of problems associated with itunes?

While typing this, i was downloading Quicktime from the link you sent to test if that works, the file I've downloaded was named itunes setup(2) shouldn't it be quicktime?????? Guess it automatically called it (2) cause i already got itunes setup in my download folderit's the exact same size as the itunes setup file i've been downloading??????
Now the apple website actually says thanks for downloading Quicktime 7 not a thing about itunes.
Click on the download now link on the site you sent me, http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ wants to download me the itunes file not quicktime??? Try it !!
Maybe the people at apple got on the grog a bit before Christmas???

Firefox won't open, thought maybe deleted, updated all plugins, still no Firefox so downloaded Firefox, but won't install and message box keeps saying to close Firefox so it can install. HELP!

Last night my Norton told me to get rid of some of my programs so my computer would run faster. My computer was given to me with many programs already installed, and it is hard to tell from the names of programs what they actually do; but I figured if I could remove, then I could re-install if necessary. I removed a few before my brain was able to scream STOP. I cannot now remember which ones. No doubt this has everything to do with Firefox's "absence." (I do know that I did not remove Firefox itself, but possibly a program that plays a supporting role.) I'm dizzy trying to "fix" this, and if I was not able to LOL, I'd be crying all night! Thanks for any help.

Do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Downloaded popcorn but won't install

I just bought popcorn 2.0 and downloaded it from the site. When I try to install it it says to drag into applications folder which I did. When I open it from my appl folder it says the same thing-drag to appl folder-
What am I doing wrong?

Perhaps you are dragging an enclosing disk image file into your Applications folder instead of the application itself? You should end up with a single file (actually a package but it looks like a single file) in your Applications folder with an icon that looks like a bucket of popcorn.
If it is distributed as a disk image, you need to double click the downloaded file to mount the disk image, then double click the mounted disk icon to see the contents, then drag the application from there to your Applications folder.

If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) you can try to temporarily disable it for a few minutes, visit a safe site (e.g. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird), download and check. Please also see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls#Firewall_pitfalls this].
If it works you can then try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. That would be my first guess. You might be trying to install the 32 bit version of the program.
Update the thread with more info on your apple software etc if its a 64 bit install you're trying to perform.

Mac OS X update downloads but won't install

When I try to update Mac OS X combined update 10.7.4 on MBP, it downloads but won't install. I get a message that says it couldn't expand and may be corrupted. This has happened multiple times now.
I thought it might be due to lack of space on the hard drive so i cleared some space (there's now at least 49GB space) and it still won't work. I also have updates for Motion Supplemental Control and Final Cut Pro X supplemental that do the same. Tried doing it one by one, and tried downloading myself but the problem seems to be the expanding installing not the downloading.
Anyone else had this problem and solved it??

You may have a permissions issue that's preventing access to the downloaded files.
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities and click the "Repair Disk Permissions" option.
Once complete, try installing the update again.

AIR seems to install but won't install any AIR apps

I installed AIR on Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition, and it seems to install OK (no error messages). But when I go to install an AIR app (Yammer desktop in this case) it will not install the app and I never see the installer come up. This is a new computer that never had AIR on it. First I went ot the Yammer site to load the app there, as I did on my XP computer. The install started, but hung up. I was at work, so I let it sit for a few hours, but it was still hung. I then rebooted and tried to install using the offline installer. It seemed to install, but won't install any AIR apps. I have uninstalled/reinstalled AIR and Yammer but no change. I also tried uninistalling using the MS FixIt utility, but no difference. AIR seems installed but if I go to the Yammer web site, it tries to install AIR again. Log below.

If so, please contact me at [email protected] If you want to try something immediately, I'd recommend creating a new, temporary, user account and seeing if you can install Yammer there. If so, log back into your normal account and try launching the installed Yammer app.

I have been through the same process three times now. The downloaded file is 4.07GB. I deleted it and re-downloaded and I get the same error.

PS downloaded via CC seemed to download fine but won't work. Won't even open a file/document.

I am very frustrated as I have spoken with CC tech support and they were of no help, in fact that didn't even have a clue how to navigate Windows 8! What does the crash report say about the name of the faulting module?
Yes, crashes like that are usually due to the video card driver. (though I was guessing from the original description that the image was just not drawing)
Have you tried disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop before opening a document?
Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?
