Can EJB work acrros different NetWorks(subnets)...

I have deployed EJB in OAS 4.0.8.2 which works fine with LAN environment. But the same refuse to do so, when hosted with ISP.
Applet is my client to EJB.
The LOOKUP failure occurs(CORBA.COMM_FAILURE). When discussed, I got these infos.
1. EJB may be a layer 2 protocol which does not allow it to work across different subnets.
2. Applet-EJB connectivity can not by bass the socket layer.
3. Firewalls, doesnot allow the EJB connections to be performed.
This means EJB can not work in Internet scenario... Is that so....
Can any one help me???

You can actually use one linksyssmartwifi accounts to multiple routers as long as you were able to associate those routers with your account. So even if you are at your office, home or vice versa; you can still access your router remotely as long as your account and the routers have been associated.

Hello,
I have a problem with TCP/IP communication.
I write a program for TCP/IP communication (server-client) and it works fine when I tested in office (the same network). But when I tested program when server and client VI are connected to different network I dont have any communication.
Does TCP/IP work when client.VI and server.VI are connected to different networks? If not, does anybody have suggestion which protocol to use? Problem is that server VI must be in exe format but client VI must be open for change.

I think we have to clear up some things before going into detailed "debugging".
First of, when talking about "networks", i expect you to refer to "LAN" (local area network). A LAN often uses a dedicated "subnet" identification, which is a combination of the IP address(es) and the subnet mask. The subnet mask defines which part of the IP address refers to the LAN identification, the "rest" of the IP refers to the specific PC.
An IP(4) address consists of four bytes, a subnet mask gives instruction on how many bits and bytes are the "LAN ID". Subnet masks often are 255.255.255.0.
So when saying "works in office (same network)", you do mean: same subnet. Correct?
(All IP addresses share the same values in the bytes of the subnet mask, but differ in the rest. Example: PC A 192.168.1.12, subnet 255.255.255.0. PC B 192.168.1.15, subnet 255.255.255.0.)
If the PCs are NOT within the same subnet, it depends on the network setup on how to proceed. If there is a "direct connection path" from A to B, simply the target IP address is sufficient (e.g. A 192.168.1.15, subnet 255.255.255.0, B 11.88.2.126, subnet 255.255.255.0 works if subnet 192.168.1 has direct connection to subnet 11.88.2).
If there is NO direct connection, you require "port forwarding" on the hardware (router) inbetween. This can get quite difficult.
So depending on the goal of this request, you maybe better re-architect the approach of loading dynamic components in your application.

On G4 System Preferences, Network, I have a dropdown menu that says that my settings have been altered by another application and won't go away when I click ok, I can't work in the Network preferences and it won't respond to be closed. Have to Force Quit

On G4 Powerbook System Preferences, Network, have a dropdown menu that says this has been configured by another application. when press OK it keeps coming on & can't work in System Preferences. It won't even respond to Quit System Preferences and I have to Force Quit to close System Pref.

To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

Writing a java application which can work in different network protocols

i am working in an environment where we have different type of system. some systems work on tcp/ip and some systems works on some specific protocols like x.25 etc.,
so i want to know is it possible to write a protocol independant application in java for solving this problem.( not specifically for x.25 and tcp/ip)

write something independant of its implementation is one of the core principes of Java, simply write to an interface (or abstract interface).
Then build for each protocol a concrete class which will execute the calls for that specific protocol

Can PI work with different versions of MQ?

I have requirment to let PI (7.1) communication with different versions of MQ (5.3 and 6.0). However I doubt that this is possible.
As for MQ, the JMS drivers of the MQ needs to be deployed to PI. For MQ 5.3 and 6.0, different drivers (6.0 has additional jar files as 5.0) are to be packaged into com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda and deployed to PI. There is no way you can deploy different version of drivers onto the same PI box. even if you can deploy different version of hte driver to PI box, it won't work in runtime, simply because, when the driver is loaded, there is no way to tell PI class loader which version of class (driver) to load.
how do you guys think of this?

It is possible. My production has a one way trust with another forest and I am able to assign permissions/group nesting like how you're asking.
For your SID translation, there is a security option you may want to check in to.
LocalSecurityPolicy(secpol.msc)->Security Settings->Local Policies->Security Options -> Network Access: Allow anonymous SID/Name Translation.
That setting has given me grief in the past.

Can Mail work on a network other than my home?

Hi all,
I apologize up front if this is a really basic question.
The program Mail works great for me at home. But, when I take my laptop to my office, or I use it at a coffee shop, or wherever, I can't send emails. It'll access the server and get emails, but I can't send them. My mac email is IMAP, rather than POP, if that makes a difference.
Is this something that I should be able to do, or does Mail need to be hooked up to my home network to work properly?

It sounds like you're trying to use an SMTP server for your outgoing mail that doesn't work away from home. As an anti-spam measure, some ISPs only allow the use of their outgoing mail servers from computers within their network. When you're away from home that test fails.
In some cases it's possible to change your SMTP server settings so that you authenticate via password instead of location. Check with your ISP for more details.

Will an Unlocked iPhone 4s purchased online in the UK (directly from the apple site) work between different networks/sims, as my time is spent in both the UK and Canada?

From what I've gathered looking around the forums, the answer seems to be yes.

How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM. My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore. Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed. I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc. I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads. Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system. I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system. But are there other options to connect the new TC. Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above. after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working. Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant. I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work. The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network. Are we going backwards?

Ok... it is getting a bit clearer but there are still some questions.

I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??

I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC. the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.

You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options.

Each app server provides their own jndi factory class. For ex for weblogic it is weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory. SInce you are using sun app server, check if there are any examples to find out or the docs.

Since the client is in a different machine the localhost is not going to work here. provide the url or the machine name of the system in which ur sunapp server is running. In addition u will need to have the stubs of the remote interfaces in ur client machine.

Did you purchase Final Cut Pro from the Mac app store? Or install it from disk? If from disk, you may have installed it on all machines using the same serial number, and using all of them simultaneously violates the license agreement. If you purchase from the App store the licensing is different and that may not apply.

In two node RAC, what are the disadvantage if both nodes are on different segment of the network?
So both node will have public interface on different segment, but interconnect will be on same segment.
Both nodes have same gateway and both network segments goes to same switch.

The Public IP addresses and virtual IP addresses must be in the same subnet.
This is necessary because the VIP-IP (both nodes) should work on both public networks.
Recently I set up RAC Extended with diferents networks (subnet). When all nodes is up everything is fine. But When one node down, clusterware freeze node survive because he try setup vip-ip (different subnet) from node down on node survive.

Can I sync 2 apple tvs on different networks with same itunes account?

I read that you can sync up to 5 tv's with the same itunes library, but do all tv's need to be on the same network?
I've been able to successfully sync both apple tvs from my itunes account that's on my laptop. The first one works fine but the 2nd one keeps restarting itself while playing.
I'm not sure if it's me or the apple tv.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Think I have it now. 2 tv's in different locations and on different networks, laptop connected to tv 1 over network 1 works fine, no go with tv 2 with laptop connected over network 2.
Yes this could be an tv fault, you do however have the opportunity to check this. Swap over the 2 tv's if the problem moves with the tv it could be the tv, if it stays with the same network it could be the network.
I'm not so sure it makes any difference but I assume you have named the two tv's differently in itunes.

How can different people work on different tabs of one form

We are developing Client-Server application using D2K tools.
We are using the new feature TAB of Forms 5.0 in our current
development.
We are currently have 10 or 12 tabs per form in our application
and we need different people to work on it during development.
How to over come the error of one's work overwriting other's work.
All of them will be working on different tabs.

It's a really bad idea to have more than one person working on a
single Form at one time. However, if you must...
Try getting everything in the Form, except for your tabs,
working first. Then take 12 copies of your Form (one for each
tab) and give a copy to each of the 12 developers. Make sure
that they name any objects that they create uniquely: this
includes any blocks, procedures, tab canvases etc - nominate one
person as 'design master' and make sure that anyone clears any
new object names with the design master before creating them.
When they have finished developing and testing their code
individual for each of the single tab Forms, get someone to
create a thirteenth Form, and then merge in all the objects
created for the first tab. You can do this relatively easily by
opening two Forms at the same time, and dragging the items from
one Form to another.
If you're feeling really clever, and you will have lot of
maintenance to do on the Form, then you could reference the
objects rather than copy them: in this case you would need to
keep your 13 forms in perpetuity, but you could have parallel
maintenance going on. However you decide to do it, be sure that
you have a comprehensive test plan!
You will find that you may save some time in this way, but it
will take more man-hours (though less elapsed time) to develop
the Form in this way, than by having a single person develop the
whole Form.
