What are the bit size restrictions using Elements 12? I find I can use enhancements but little else on 16 bit images.
What is the action for converting to 8-bit when necessary?

Yes, you can. These are the steps when using the elements editor.
Depending on the file format:
1. If this file is from a camera raw file, simply open the original
    raw file and at the bottom of the camera raw dialog choose 16 bits.
    This would open the file in pse editor as a 16 bit file.
    Then save as a tif file with no compression.
2. If the file is a jpg or tif file, in the pse editor select: File>Open As>Camera Raw.
    This will open the file in the camera raw dialog. Then select 16 bit from the menu
    at the bottom of the camera raw dialog. After the file opens in pse editor, in 16 bits,
    save as a tif with no compression.
3. If the file is a psd file with no layers, then step 2 will work. If the psd file has layers,
    open the the file in pse editor and resave the file using maximize compatibilty.
    This will allow the psd file to have both layers and open in the camera raw dialog as
    in step 2. When you open the file in the pse editor, it will just be a single layer and then
    just save as a tif file with no compression.

Can't start virtualbox windows 7 32 bit image anymore please h[SOLVED]

Just recently, I upgraded my system by executing "sudo pacman -Syu". It upgraded my kernel and kernel header files and mesa devu etc... including virtualbox-ose 3.2.10-3.
Someoutputs that could be useful:

On my archlinux (64-bit) system, I installed windows 7 (32-bit) using virtualbox-ose. It was working fine before I did the upgrade. Now, whenever I try to start the windows 7 (32-bit), it starts the windows 7 until the windows logo comes (just before the login mask of windows 7 comes), my computer restarts itself without giving any error or something. My pc just restarts itself. I think this is only related to virtualbox. When I do not try to start virtualbox, arch linux itself is working fine so far. Only when I try to start the windows 7, my pc gets restarted. Have you guys had any problem of this kind? First, I will wait for your responses. The options that I could think of right at the moment are:
1. Downgrade the kernel back (I do not know how to and do not see it as a good choice)
2. Downgrade the virtualbox-ose only (I also do not know how to do that.)
3. Uninstall the virtualbox-ose and reinstall it again without removing my windows 7 OS (32-bit) (I hope I can continue using it)
4. Delete the existing windows 7 OS and try to install freshly new Windows 7 OS again
Guys, please help me. I really need to use windows 7 sometimes. I would be really grateful if some of you guys can help me.

What is this vboxnetflt for? Which modules are the essential modules for virtualbox? What I mean is: do those nice features like mouse point integration, full screen supportment etc... rely on vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp?
What I have in my configuration file is:
MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
#MOD_BLACKLIST=() #deprecated
MODULES=(vboxdrv vboxnetflt vboxnetadp)
I think vboxnetadp is used for networkiing. and vboxnetflt sounds like network filtering stuff. Can someone please confirm me? I think the problem was the sequence of upgrading. Firstly it updated the kernel and then installed the new version of virtualbox. I think if it could install the new version of virtualbox first and then the kernel, it would go without any problem, just my opinion as I said.
Let's keep tracked on this. Maybe someone will find a solution before virtualbox developers :-)

The best thing to do is open a 16 bit file and experiment with what's available.

What happens to a 12-bit image in LabVIEW/IMAQ Vision?

I'm using the DALSA DALSTAR 1M30 camera, and we are building a cable for it, and have not yet got it up and running, but I am already programming our application for it. I was wondering, since the IMAQ Vision VI's seem to pertain to 8-bit, 16-bit, and floating point images, I was wondering if they will work fine with a 12-bit image like the one from the 1M30 camera. I was also wondering, if they do work fine, what format the output of a VI like IMAQ ImageToArray will be. Will the 12-bit pixel values be converted into 16-bit?

A 12 bit image is stored within IMAQ as a 16 bit image. Only routines that accept 16 bit images can be used for manipulating the image.
The IMAQ WindDraw converts 16 bit images to 8 bit images for display, using the selected method. You can also manually convert to an 8 bit image for automatic thresholding and other routines that don't accept 16 bit images. For most applications, you will want to shift it 4 bits during conversion so the most significant bits are preserved.

When I open elements 9- to create a new video- it is now just a blank, black/gray screen. I can no longer create videos. I can't upload from computer, etc. Is this from the new download of Rebel?
Please tell me what to do, where to go. I realize this is an old version- but I liked it and it was easy to use....Am I required to purchase another version now?

You need to explain your situation further so we are clear on how to answer your question.
1. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? Have you been and are you now running the program
as the 9.0.1 Update? When you the last time that you used this program successfully for one of your video productions?
2. Are you trying to import video from the Canon EOS Rebel t3i or another model into Premiere Elements 9 workspace?
From what I have read, the camera records with a MPEG4 video compression and has a .mov file extension. Is that true? What camera setting are you using 1920 x 1080, 1280 x 720, or other? And, what does it say for frames per second?
So, do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 9.
Bottom line: are you using the same computer, same Premiere Elements 9, same Canon footage, that worked before and now it is not working?
And, please clarify...important....do you meet this problem even before you try to import your Canon video into a project?
When you open the program from its desktop icon, are you left facing a gray window with menu names across the top that will not open?

No, you can still buy photoshop cs6 (perpetual license) if one doesn't want to subscribe to the cloud version (photoshop cc version 14)

I understand what you've done now. You used the "Set Layer Visibility" command which sets the on/off state of all the layers at once. What you need is a more subtle approach, one that will only change the state of the specific layer associated with the button, not the rest of them (so that you could have multiple layers enabled at the same time). The way to do that is by using a script.
I wrote the script for you and applied it to the top-left counties (WILLIAMS and FULTON), in the attached file. You can now copy the actions I associated with those buttons to the rest of them, and it should work as you want it to.

Can a video created with Adobe Premiere Elements 13 be converted to run (and be edited, etc.) on Adobe Premiere Elements 11?
I have several hours invested in a video creation that I made with Premiere Elements 13, but now 13 is refusing to work properly (space bar and play button do not move the time line indicator forward). Hopefully, I will get the problem solved, but in the meantime I must get this project completed and don't have time to start over. So, I need to convert the work so that it can be completed with Premiere 11 which seems to work fine.

Is this an outdated thread? I thought that you had resolved the play button/space bar issue.
Classically, you cannot open a project created in a later version in an earlier version. If you try, you get hit with "The project appears to be damaged, it cannot be opened." messaged. There was one rare and little known occasion when that was not the case. It involved Premiere Elements 10. So, that is not going to help us any here.
If you still have the play button/space bar issue, can you get out of the 13 project by exporting it to file which you can import into a new Premiere Elements 11 project? If need be, I can suggest the details of that if you tell me the project setting for the 13 project.
Please let us know the situation at this time.

Can Premiere Elements 11 create a Route Map

I have seen the previous answers and all the web site references are no good.
I know I can over lay the two images. But I also noticed After Effects has a way of doing the same process. Can It be done in Premiere?

Premiere Elements 10 and 11 are 64 bit applications only when they are run on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit. One exception is Premiere Elements 11 Mac which is a 64 bit application on Mac 64 bit as well.
As for Premiere Elements 11 and the line tool of which I spoke. It is in the Titler which can be accessed from the Expert workspace Text Menu/New Text/Default Text. The Titler has 4 sections, Text, Style, Animation, and Shape. The screenshot below is the Titler opened to the Shape section.
The Styles section and Style mentioned will look like....

There is no channel panel in Elements. You could add some paths and channel features with third party add-ons like Elements+, but the real solution is to use a tutorial for Elements, not for Photoshop. There are always several ways to achieve something in Elements or Photoshop. Using alpha channels is only one way to help with blurring the background.

Will photos created on a 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium be readable on a Windows 7 64 bit system?

Yes. PSE works on both 32bit and 64 bit systems.
PSE is not being discontinued. The on-line service at Photoshop.com is simply moving to Adobe Revel.

Premiere Elements 13, on Windows 7 64 bit, Problem fading to black at end of video.

With Premiere Elements 13, on Windows 7 64 bit, I am attempting to end a video with a fade to black transition. For whatever reason, it is fading to black then returning. Yes, I have tried it all three ways right, left and in between, but the it keeps fading out then in. And yes the transition is at the very end of the clip.

When I apply the Dip to Black video transition to the last Timeline clip, the Alignment is Left Clip. You have been there and done that.
Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing when the Dip to Black transitions stops on your Timeline?
When I do as you have suggested I see this
Have you expanded the Timeline with the -+ slider above the Timeline and inspect the end of the clip as well as
other track content above or below, do you detect an fragments that might be a factor in what you are seeing?
If you start a new project, do you get the same result?
Could you post a screenshot displaying what you are seeing with the Dip to Black video transition placed at the end
of the last clip on your Timeline (Alignment: Left Clip)?
