Can events be re-ordered?
1) I have 3 calendars and I only use the Month view. When I toggle a calendar on or off, SOME of another calendar's events swap places on their day as shown in the list.
2) Bonus question:
I have "Show time in Month view" checked in preferences. When I print, some events show with 3 ellipses where the time should be, even though there's plenty of space and even though other identical events DO show the time.
Well. . . I can't help with problem #1, but as far as the Bonus question goes. . . .
The problem has to do with a "floating" time zone. I don't know how the problem starts, but I DO know one solution: In iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Check the "Turn on Time Zone Support" option. Once this option is selected, select the event that is not printing the time in month view and change the time zone from "floating" to the time zone in which you live.

Yes you can do that - IF you go through and assign titles to every photo
You also can change the date/time on photo and iPhoto will then sort them in the new order
And you could assign unique key words to each photo such that the sort order is what you want and sort by key word
But you can not change the order in the sense most people mean - grab a photo and move it to a new location in an event

In iMovies, can I arrange the events in the Events Library in date order, e.g. 1994 - Sports Day; 1991 - John's christening; 1993 - Christmas?
If you import from a digital camera or camcorder, iMovie will automatically store your events in date order.
However, if you imported clips from an analog camcorder, like VHS or 8MM or Hi8, iMovie does not have any metadata to work with.
In this case, there are two ways to add back this metadata.
The simplest way is to right click on your Event clip and select Adjust Clip Date And Time. Do this for all clips in the event.
The other way is to name your clips before importing to imovie in this format:
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext
where hh is hours in 24 hour time, and ext is the current file extension. If you name your clips this way, and then import to iMovie through FILE/IMPORT MOVIE then the clips will sort into the proper year. -
Photos.
They are on my macBook, backed up on time machine. There are 19,000+ of them, some rescued from a pc crash- which I used the nifty iPhoto to put back into date order.
I want to take them all off my laptop, now............as I need to use it for WORK!!
Copied them (hours and hours) to another external hard drive.
They are now in alphabetical order (all 19,000+ of them) NOT IN THEIR EVENTS or date order. (-They have also been taken with different cameras over the years and some of the generic camera numbering remains.)
I have tried to copy them (only a few as an experiment) one event at a time, but that again "opens up" the Event "folder" and tips them out as individuals and therefore just lists image letters and numbers alphabetically.
How can I copy
the whole library still in "Events" to an external hard drive?
the folders/albums I have already made on to this hard drive?
and how can I add to this back up monthly, again keeping events and folders separate and updated?
Mac is so user friendly - there must be a way.........
ThanksUPDATE : I have re-installed from disk, various apps that were no longer functioning such as iLife, iWork etc. So, I now can access my photos again.
Also, I had to re-install all the software for my printer ( Stylus Pro 4880 ) and reset it so the printer is working again.
Photoshop CS4 won't open. I think I will have to get in touch with Adobe as basically, I guess they have a built-in "blocker" which prevents me from opening the app as the license is for only 1 user and having re-installed the OS, there are now, in effect, 2 users ( Me and Me 1, I think ).
So, having added on a new external HD, Time Machine has made a copy of most of the files, folders, apps etc onto the external HD. The internal HD is still nearly full ( 220 GBs out of 232 GBs ).
I am guessing the way to go now in order to free up space on the internal HD is to delete/trash older photos from my iPhoto library and hope that if needed, I will be able to access them on the external HD.
Am I correct ? Please advise before I do something I will regret.

Can't move photo order manually
Inside an Event the sort order for "manually" doesn't work. It is fine for the Events order but I can't move a photo order inside an event.

There is no help for this. Events are organised on a strict date and time basis. You can edit the time of the pics (Photos -> Adjust date and time) or, better still, use Albums.
Remember, Albums are much more flexible than events, you can structure them any way you want, and as they simply refer to the files in the Library they take no disk space.

I have organized my events in I photo in alphabetic order and have synced several times to my I pad but yet the event order on my I pad still does not match that of my Mac... (Is there a way to organize the events in alphabetic order on my I pad??)
I don't have iPhoto on my iPad, so I can't help with that, but you must have looked at advice for a Mac computer? Maybe browse the iPhoto for iOS forum?

Printing and exporting iCal events in date order
I would love to be able to print out my gigs and events in date order so that I can give this list to the people in my band and my agents.
iCal does not do this and there are lots of people asking a similar question. I don't know enough about programming to alter the scripts, and I love having my dates synced across all my toys, but is there another app or facility that will give me the same functionality of iCal with the print-in-date-order option?possibly could try calprint app??

I usually organise my events in date order but some have gone somewhere else, the album info say it starts may 6th 2014 but on the event it says it starts in 2013???
That can happen, if your event contains hidden photos.
The event below contains a hidden Photo from September 2002. When I make the hidden photos visible the date of the event will change.
Enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu. Then both date ranges should match.
You will recognize the hidden photos by the "x" in the corner after unhiding them. -

Wait for an iOS update and send feedback to Apple. Many have reported that problem here - synced events and faces in arbitrary order, but there is no known solution. You cannot arrange the synced events, albums, and faces on your iOS devices in any way.

I want to upgrade to snow leopard from 10.5.8. Im hesitant to proceed because I'm running iPhoto 7 and word 2004. I want to be sure these programs will still run and I won't lose my photos or the events I have ordered them by. Should i make a partition on my new Iomega external and clone it just in case? I'm running time machine and backing up all the time onto an old LaCie, and right now I have a copy of my iPhoto library on new Iomega, which I recopy every couple of weeks. I got the computer new several years ago and it came with iLife and 10.4 OS I think.
Word 2004 is almost 10 years old, you will not be able to upgrade beyond Snow Leopard with it. IMHO you have gotten your money's worth out of the application and need to upgrade to Office for Mac 2011, this will work just fine and read your old files just fine too. What will not run beyond SL are all PowerPC (PPC) apps such as Word 2004. You will need to update, upgrade or replace any PPC based apps you want to use. I would recommend taking a little time and check for updates to each of your apps. Then open System Profiler (Applications - Utilities - System Profiler) click the Applications link on the left and then look for any PPC based apps, those are the ones that will not run. You can upgrade to SL just fine with the apps you currently have however if you want to go beyond SL (it's already 2 generations behind) you will need to update or upgrade your apps. You can take your time doing it but eventually you're going to have to begin

Hi, I'm making my portfolio in Muse, and I'm using the composition widget - lightbox display. I imported all the images and then I wanted to reorganize the thumbnails - and when I do that, the order in the lightbox doesn't change and so it's not the same as the order of the thumbnails (after rearranging them). Please let me know if there is a way to fix this quickly, or do I have to do it all one more time
The order the items display in a composition widget is the front to back order of the items. You can rearrange the stacking order of the thumbnails/triggers using the Layers panel and/or the Object > Bring To Front, Send To Back, etc. menu items to adjust the order they're displayed during auto play or when clicking the next/previous buttons.

Can I change the order of items on a drop-down menu? Specifically, the "open" menu that comes up when I right-click on a link.
Putting "open in new tab" on top of "in new window" makes sense, of course, since it is used more often. But I do a lot of surfing, and had the old position in muscle memory. Re-training my brain to click on the first line instead of the second is taking a long time, and makes me grumbly.
I'd love to put it back to the old order. Can I? and, if so, how do I do it? (Please give me detailed instructions, IOW, please assume I am a complete simpleton, because sometimes I am.)

It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Thanks for any help.Currently, the order in which the phone numbers appear (in a contact) is dependent on the sequence to which you enter them. There is no way to change that order other than re-entering them in the desired order.
