Can FCP directly output to Beta Cam? if not what is the best output result?

I wonder which way is the best result to output the video to beta tape for TV broadcasting. I used firewire to DV but once the TV station dup to beta, the picture gettin worst.

Thinking of CBD as hockey director...
"I'll take some of that! More of this! And less of those!
"I want them now! I want it yesterday! And stay awake because the requirements will change tomorrow!"
On a more serious note...
I searched around for a beta sp deck that takes fire wire in and could not find one.
It strikes me that if you (Cantonpro) are already using an iMac you are either sharing the firewire bus, or placing media on your system drive. As noted, neither of these situation are recommended.
However, if you are on the system drive, then an AJA IO might be a possibility, but almost $2000 plus deck rental seems a bit steep, especially since the capabilities of the AJA would be limited by the iMac. Maybe a higher end canopus converter like this one,
http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC500/index.php
but you are still talking almost $1500 plus deck rental. This solution is a bit more appropriate if you plan on staying with the iMac.
There are less expensive options that rely on composite video, but then you may as well have the station do the conversion.
Maybe you should contact a local dub house and see what they have to say, or find out if anyone near you has this equipment already.
Or, if your work is generating profit, and your business would benefit from the higher quality on-air, start to upgrade your hardware so you will see greater returns in the future.

WORKAROUND FOUND ! Download and install "Awesome Camera" app and take a picture with that app. After 1-2 seconds of standby, it will work. Then you can go back to default Camera app which would work again. Please let me know

Apple has really crappy NTFS read-only that does not always work. And it is probably a licensing issue.
Paragon Software is constantly being updated and supported with their NTFS for Mac OS X - they also have an HFS+ driver for Windows that works - Apple's HFS+ read-only driver for Boot Camp / Windows does not.
I keep seeing problems and lack of support for MacFUSE, that could change.

Why do you think that? You can create printed Books in Aperture with similar themes as in iPhoto, and with more options to create custom themes on your own.
See this page - http://www.apple.com/aperture/what-is.html - scroll down to see the example books.
But if you prefer the iPhoto themes and layout, you can open your Aperture library in iPhoto, if you have both the current version of iPhoto and Aperture. Simply use the command "File > Open Library in iPhoto" and you can create your book in iPhoto.
And switch back to Aperture by using the command "File > Open Library in  Aperture".

  • What's The Best Output Setting?

Well, choosing the "best" Export/Share setting for output, is a bit science, a bit art, and often a bit of testing.
File Size rests primarily on Bit-Rate, which roughly is = to "quality," and then the Project's/Sequence's Timeline Duration. It can become a delicate balancing act between quality vs file size. The amount of motion, especially off-axis motion, would be where to look for ultimate qualtiy, established by Bit-Rate. Lower motion footage, will still look good,at a lower Bit-Rate, but only the editor, or the client, can make the final determination.
For some general discussion, see this Adobe FAQ Entry.
Note: the above is focused on Premiere Pro, but most applies directly to PrElements, as well. However, the term for Export is now in PrE's Share Tab, while Export is the term used for either direct output,or output through AME (Adobe Media Encoder).
Hope that helps one determine the best output setting for their material.

  • What is the best output for archiving in Quicktime?

    Hi,
I'm producing webvideo. The video's are converted to quicktime and dropped on a videoserver and converted to flash.
The most important footage is archived to tape but I'd like to archive all the output. What is in your opinions the best setting for output in quicktime with less space and enough quality to use again in webvideo. Final use will be 800kb flash video.

You should archive the material in it's native format so that you have the possibility to revisit the project and make changes or generate master files in other formats.
Use the Media Manager to consolidate your project into a single enclosing folder. This can be compressed into a .zip file or disk image. It will save space if you dont include render files, even more if you make the material that came from tape, offline -although you will have to recapture in that case.

  • What's the best output for burning to HD DVD

I'm working on some projects that I would like to burn to HD DVD. The original footage is captured with a AVCHD camera at 1920x1080 (highest setting) then ingested to Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080 to retain the highest quality. Now I want to output them and burn to an HD DVD using Toast 9 to retain the highest quality and avoid re-encoding the data. What would be the best settings to use to export from FCE?
    Thanks,
    John
(BTW - Yes, I know HD DVD is a dead format but I've got a player and the ability to burn playable HD Discs so it's still a viable format for me!)

    Thanks Tom,
That was the first thing I tried and it came out Format : Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062) with Normal Size: 1920 x 1080 pixels (I'm reading form QuickTime Inspector here.)
So I'm confused. Which resolution is it really? If it is 1440x1080 am I losing quality in the down-rez?
Beyond that, I take what you're saying is that using this output it will only get encoded once going to the DVD. Is that correct?
    Thanks,
    John

  • What is the best output page-level help for a thick/fat client software app

I am looking to do some reorganizing of some help projects here at my new employer.  For the past 10 years, I have only been dealing with web-based apps so all my help has been web help... sometimes page-level, sometimes not.  However, I will need to now convert and/or create new help for a software app that is thick-client style.  I need to know what the optimum output format would be to work best for page-level, thick-client, online help... HELP!
BTW.. I am currently using RH10 for Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    kb

The best format depends on your client's situation. Do all client pc's have internet access and can you get a server to host the help? If so, I would go for WebHel/HTML5. That's the easiest to maintain and the client won't have to hassle with installing help.
If you client doesn't have internet access or you don't have a server, a CHM is quite safe. It works well even though it is an old technology. But keep in mind that if the CHM is located on a network drive, it won't work unless the client is willing to change some security settings.
    Kind regards,
    Willam

  • What is the best output format for idvd

Am I better publishing to media browser and choosing "large," or is it better to export to Quicktime, and if so, what is the highest quality to choose for going to iDVD. This will be a presentation on a very large screen. Thanks.

The answer is: it depends. It depends on the resolution and format of the clips in your project, your aspect ratio (normal vs. widescreen), etc.
You want to try to keep the number of conversion steps at a minimum. I.e. using 640x480 source material in an iMovie '08 project, sharing as Large at 720x540 from iMovie '08 only to have it converted to 720x480 in iDVD isn't optimal as you end up with two resolution conversion steps.
Why don't you experiment with a short sample clip and a DVD-RW? Use a DVD player and a television to judge the results, not the software DVD player on your Mac.

  • When creating a new project, what is the best output format for TV?

I'm watching my iMovie creations on an LCD TV with 1080p. When I playback the mp4 format it always kinda looks worse than the original content.

I totally agree. The only way I have found to get good HD quality is to first output the edited camcorder file BACK to the camcorder. Then play that on your HD TV and you get real HD. Unfortunately you cannot do this with the newer versions of IMovie. Maybe there is another way but i can't find it.

  • I'm trying to utilize Rosetta Stone software but I cannot hook up my headset USB port they came with it what's the best solution

Trying to figure out how to use a headset with my MacBook Pro utilizing Rosetta Stone software that's already loaded on my laptops

if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...
so again, i hope you have some ideas now

No one here can help you. If your phone is no longer under warranty, a third-party repair shop will most likely be your best bet. You can't mail the phone to Apple, in the US, as Apple does not accept international shipments. You could mail it to a friend/relative, in the US, & they could take it to an Apple store for you. Some Apple stores repair iPhones. Otherwise, you're looking at an out of warranty replacement.
    Good luck.

  • I have a sequence shot on the 550d/rebel T2i, I converted it to prores 422 and edited in fcp. What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation.

i have a sequence shot on the 550d/rebel T2i, I converted it to prores 422 in MPEG Streamclip and edited in fcp. What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation. Rite now, i have been just clicking on the export to quicktime function, but the quality of the footage is completely reduced and colours look desaturated and there is pixellation compared to the original camera footage. Also is there anyway i can render and export the sequence using the original footage (like an online edit or something). Also is there anyway to upgrade the final quality. I have Compressor, Dvd Studio pro, Motion, Color and Cinema tools, i dnt know if they are of any use to me and have no idea how to use hem or what they are for also.

    >What is the best export that i can do to preserve quality and prevent pixelation
The best way to export is entirely dependent on what you plan to do with the exported video.  For example, if you plan to go to DVD, the export process is different than if you plan for web delivery or for iPhone viewing.  Compressor has presets for most final delivery formats ... start with those.
    >is there anyway i can render and export the sequence using the original footage
Yes.  In FCP, go to File-Export->QuickTime Movie.  Check the box to make the movie Self-Contained and use Current Settings.  Do NOT "Recompress All Frames."   The resulting self-contained movie will play on any Mac that has the needed audio and video codecs installed.
    >is there anyway to upgrade the final quality
No and maybe.  While you technically cannot improve quality over the original, you can possibly 'enhance'  the aesthetic quality of the video using various filters in FCP or Color.

What is the best way to hook up a telephone line to an i- mac so I can receive faxes directly to my computer?
I tried usb modems.  They worked ok for 32 bit usb's but Lion only allows 64 bit.  I bought one from Best Buy and it works when it wants to.  Mostly, it doesn't want to!
Is there a way to connect through a time capsule?

    Thanks for that!!
    Zoom - 56K V.92 USB Mini External Data/Fax Modem
I didn't look any further than this.  I bought this at Best Buy and like I said, it works somesimes.  It does not trigger the fax automatically when the phone rings.  You need to have it manually answer.  In the past, I had the 32 bit Apple version of this external USB modem and it worked without issue.
