Can Firefox be locked on a specific website?

Is it possible to "lock" Firefox when a specific website is open? We are showing a Black History Month website on a computer kiosk at our museum and would like to prevent anyone from using the computer to surf the web.

No, sorry. Firefox is available only for Nokia Maemo phones (now) and Google Android phones (soon).

  • How can I find history from a specific website on my MacBook Pro?

How can I find history from a specific website (such as: time spent on that website and things of that nature) on my MacBook Pro?  I would also like to see if I can get a detailed history for other things done on the computer, such as: Date & Time Spent running a specific application, etc.

    Not so much.
You can try 3rd party app for example http://timingapp.com/

  • Firefox won't open a specific website and neither with IE, but it opens fine on other computers

I have been trying to open a specific website: arabicpod101.com since yesterday, and I keep being given the Problem loading page error and am told that the connection was reset. I can't seem to open it on Internet Explorer either, but had no troubles accessing the website from a friend's computer.

Reload a web page and bypass the cache with:
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    * Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)

  • Safari can't connect to server on specific website

Safari accesses all other websites that I've been working on but for some reason it will not "connect to server" on EscambiaClerk.com.  I've double checked on going to other County Clerk websites and there is no problem, but it is this specific website that will not connect.  Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Maybe a setting that I need to adjust? My macbook pro runs off of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 if that helps.

    Two things to try:
    1. Go to Safari (in the menu bar) / Clear History and WebSite Data ..
    2. Type command, option , E (three keys together). This will clear caches, you won't see anything happen.

  • Can't find server on one specific website

For the past 2 days I have been unable to access the website for nbcnews.com (and today.com which is related---however, I have no issues with nbcsports and nbc for shows). This has been one of my home tabs for months and nothing I can think of has changed in the last few days. I do not have problems with any other site I frequent.
I have tried accessing it different ways---through my home tab, through google, and through the nbc sites I can access---each time I get the same "Problem loading page Server Not Found Firefox Can't Find the Server at nbcnews.com".
I have tried clearing cookies and cache, and also discovered I can't reach this site on Chrome or IE either. I'm not sure I want to try a reset. Is there anything else I can try or any reason you can think of why this one site might be an issue?

  • Safari locks up on specific website

Occasionally Safari locks up while I am working.   It isn't a consistent problem but when it occurs It will not allow any activity on that particular web site.  This just happened and I closed out the site and have attempted multiple times to load it again and it will not open.  The site is a university learning management system website.  I am able to get on then site using Internet Explorer so the site is not down.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated!
    Tony

Quit Safari. If it won't quit in the usual way, select
     ▹ Force Quit...
from the menu bar, then select Safari from the list and press return.
Relaunch Safari by holding down the shift  key and clicking its icon in the Dock. That will stop the bad page from reloading automatically. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server.

  • Is there a way I can disable images for just one specific website that won't load properly?

The website Epinions.com is not loading properly for me (since it went through an upgrade). Pages will begin to load and stop midway or only load a small amount. I'm getting frequent timeouts where pages entirely fail to load. I think one reason this is happening may be because the site is much more image heavy than it used to be. I would like to disable images on just that one site rather disabling all images in general. Is that possible? If so, how do I do it?

Try to update to Firefox 8 to see if that helps.

  • Safari (- or other browsers) won't load specific websites

    Hello folks,
So here’s the deal: I can’t seem to load several specific websites. Some pages point-blank refuse to load, while others (like Facebook, Instagram, Google) work just fine or take a very long time to load (youtube vids buffer a lot). I’ve already tried several things, like flushing my DNS cache, adding google public DNS-servers (used: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4), using different browsers (firefox nor safari works), making sure parental control is off and firewall is disabled, removing all my website data in Safari’s preferences, rebooting my router, resetting the wifi routers' time zone (someone else recommended this), restarting my wifi connection (which seems to have effect for like a second- though it’s loading very slowly- and then it goes back to refusing loading the page.) When using a proxy all pages load just fine.
I also did run a ping-test for one of them:
    PING archiveofourown.org (208.85.241.152): 56 data bytes
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 0
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 1
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 2
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 3
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 4
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 5
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 6
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 7
    Request timeout for icmp_seq 8
    --- archiveofourown.org ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss
Entering 208.85.241.152 in my browser didn’t do the trick either..
    Printscreen (just a blank page):
I’m really lost and hope someone might help me. Thank you in advance!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Can not get a specific website to load in either Safari or Firefox?

Can not get a specific website to load in either Safari or Firefox on my MacBook Pro.  Website loads on other devices such as iPhone, PC, etc.  I've tried emptying the Cache in Safari.  Any other suggestions?

The problem I am having is that this website will not load on my MacBook Pro.  I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that the website was created on this computer using iWeb and then I had to change to a different webhost on July 1st (Dreamhost) when Apple discontinued Mobile Me / Webhosting as of July 1st.  That is when I was no longer able to load the site on this one computer.
I get this message with Safari:
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.challengefitnesscrossfit.com/” because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.
    and this message from Firefox:
    The connection has timed out
The server at www.challengefitnesscrossfit.com is taking too long to respond.

  • How can I adjust the search bar to search within a specific website?

I used to use Chrome (still miss it a little bit), but Firefox has continually grown on me.
One feature I do miss from Chrome being able to search within a specific website from the search bar. For example, I was able to type in amazon.com, then pressing tab, and type in a specific search term, such as "The Terminator." When I pressed enter after typing "The Terminator," Chrome would automatically take me to Amazon's search results for "The Terminator."
And it wouldn't just be Amazon either; pretty much any site that had a searchable database, Chrome would be capable of utilizing this feature. Is there any way to replicate that in Firefox?

  • How do I run specific websites in Firefox if the website requires it be run in IE?

I have certain websites that I must use. They will only run in IE. How can I run them without opening an IE window?

Take a look at these two add-ons for running an IE-Tab in Firefox.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36/

    OR
Use IE View to open a website in IE, which you are viewing in Firefox. This extensions allows you to open a website in IE manually, or you can set specific websites to always open in IE.

  • Firefox is not loading specific websites for me. Sites like Facebook, Ebay, Google, and Netflix refuse to open, or even acknowledge me pressing the Enter key

Firefox is not loading specific websites for me. Sites like Facebook, Ebay, Google, and Netflix refuse to open, or even acknowledge me pressing the Enter key when I type in the address or click a link to that site. Practically every other site works perfectly fine. I did not change any settings or download any new addons prior to this problem, it just started happening. I have done everything I can find in the forums; resetting firefox, clearing cache and cookies, making network settings use no proxy, reinstalling, and today I uninstalled Firefox, updated and scanned my computer with all 3 software I use (AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot), found no issues, restarted my computer, and reinstalled a freshly downloaded Firefox setup without importing any settings or doing anything other than a totally clean install, and still nothing. Chrome and IE still are able to access every site perfectly fine. I have no idea what the issue is or how to fix it, as I've tried everything I know and could research.

    Hi There,
Sorry to hear of your issue. I found a great article for you to read and explain how to fix your issue. I hope this hope :)

  • How can I allow ads to be displayed on one specific website?

In order the be able to use a specific website, admins will only allow continious use if I allow the page's ads to be displayed on my computer (has to do with funding the page). I do not block any on purpose, nor can I find how to unblock for this specific website. I did check 'Permissions'. For this site all cookies and pop-ups are allowed, but still no ads appear. I need to solve this issue soon, otherwise I'll get kicked off... :(
Where/which are the settings that need to be adjusted?

  • IMac isn't loading a specific website (can't connect to that server), regardless of browser, though the same website will load on other computers on same network. Is it an issue with the iMac's settings?

Our iMac isn't loading a specific website (we get a message saying it can't connect to that specific server), regardless of browser (I've tried it in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox). However, the same website, which is for a major medical provider, loads without any issue on our other computers on the same wireless network. Is it an issue with the iMac's settings? All other websites seem to be loading without issue on the iMac.

... Is it an issue with the iMac's settings?
Possibly. Make sure you are not using a proxy server. Look in Safari Preferences > Advanced > Proxies > "Change Settings..." This will take you to the applicable Network Preferences. Make sure that nothing is selected in the "select a protocol to configure" list. It should look like this:
    Still not working?
Locate your Terminal app. It is in your Utilities folder. Open Terminal.
In Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item'
This will produce a list of all your account login items.
While you are in Terminal, copy (triple-click) and paste the following line:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
This will produce a list of all non-Apple kernel extensions. There will be few, if any.
Post the results of the above.
