Can Firefox be set to clear history automaticaly when closed?

I want to set Firefox to delete the brousing history automatically and can't figure out how to do it. I just installed Firefox, so all of the settings and toolbar displays are at their installation defaults. I know this can be done on IE, can it be done on Firefox or do I have to manually do it every time?

    Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that that there are no longer Firefox or plugin-container processes left on the Processes tab in the Task Manager. Otherwise session restore will reopen the page(s) from the previous session.

    I have "Clear history when Firefox closes" selected but the "Saved Passwords" option is unchecked.

  • Firefox 17.0 doesn't warn me when closing multiple tabs any more

    hi all
    Having updated to Firefox 17.0 (from 16.0.2), for some reason I don't get warned when closing multiple tabs any more.
    I've confirmed the relevant options are selected and am 100% certain this was working fine before updating Firefox today.
    I've replicated the problem on my vista 32bit platform and on XP 32 bit too.
    I also looked at the changelog for Firefox 17 but can't see any explanation for this change in behaviour, although I wonder whether this might have something to do with it "772319 No option to disable the "Close other tabs" prompt."
    As I use Tab Mix Plus (add-on), I've also checked Firefox in safemode and have found the native tab warnings not working, so have concluded it's an issue with Firefox (rather than something to do with an extension).
    I've checked "about:config" and "browser.tabs.warnOnClose" is set to true, as is "browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs".
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    I have this problem too. i have tab mix plus but in my case browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs and browser.tabs.warnOnClose are both set to true but i still get no warnings which sucks because i accidently click on close alot.

  • Firefox constantly runs in the background even when closed

    Hi
    I have Firefox 3.6.8 running on Windows Vista.
    I have found that Firefox constantly runs in the background even when i have just booted up the computer or when i have closed it.
    Firefox seems to constantly run with 5000-20000 K bytes in the memory.
    When i have Firefox running to look at webpages, there are two processes running. When i close Firefox there is one process running. If i end the process using the task manager, it only takes seconds before it starts to run again.
    I know this isnt normal because i keep a good eye on the processes running on my computer. So unless the latest version of Firefox requires this process running all the time, it looks like i have a probably.
    Ive scanned my computer with zonealarm, avast, superantispyware and spybot to scan my computer for viruses. One of the pieces of software found a virus and it deleted it successfully.
    Im not too sure if this is a virus that is hiding in my system or whether its part of the latest version of Firefox.
    Firefox isnt showing the usual signs of a virus. As in it doesnt try to redirect me to random websites and it doesnt try to get me to download something.
    I hope someone can help me please.
    Rob

    After talking to someone very helpful on the live chat support.
    It appears like i have a virus that is very good at hiding from detection from anti-virus/spyware software.
    No idea what intentions the virus has as its not showing any sort of virus like behaviour.
    I called the old installation a different name and closed the Firefox process. A few seconds later, instead of a Firefox process starting again a different executable started.

  • Still having a problem with Firefox going to "restart a session" even after re-installing Firefox. Keeps giving me "script error" when closing down. How do I fix this?

    As stated previously...I have removed and re-installed Firefox, but am still getting "script error" when shutting it down and going to "restore session" when opening. Please advise what to do about this problem. Thank you.

    Firefox 21 and Firefox 22 running on Windows 7 have been reported to take a long time to "wake up" from sleep. I realize hibernation is different than sleep, but... this is the closest match for your description.
    Some users have reported that this problem is resolved in Firefox 23 (currently in beta). Others have had inconsistent luck with minimizing Firefox before letting Windows sleep and other measures.
    Please check out this (very long) thread for more information: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961898 browser freezes after resuming from sleep]
    Or jump to the part about Firefox 23: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961898?page=3#answer-457321
    The fact that this just started recently suggests perhaps it is related to another program or update, but I don't think anyone has confirmed the exact interaction that causes the problem.

  • Firefox can't forget a tab; clear history never blank.

    Hello. My Firefox browser is patched to latest version; the problem is that Firefox can't forget one specific tab. Whenever I clear all history it asks about that tab on next start. Cleaning with Auslogics Browser Care doesn't help at all. Though, it cleans history, but the problem remains - that old tab that can't be forgotten by my Firefox. I was thinking of reinstalling my Firefox browser, but I don't want to set up all the parameters again... it's the least thing to do for me. If you know how to fix it, please help. It's a blank tab. Firefox browser can't forget it nor erase it to the hell out forever. It's stuck. How to fix it - I simply don't know.......... :(

    In what way does it ask about this tab?
    Is this tab opened automatically?

    You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
    Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

  • Can Firefox be set-up to keep cookies from selected sites while normally deleting cookies when exiting Firefox

    I'm new to Firefox and I've been using Opera. I've been able(in Opera) to retain cookies from sites I use often (bank, etc.) while having as a default clearing cookies when exiting , but only the cookies that were set during that session. Can the cookies settings in Firefox be configured to allow this.

    The default Firefox installation doesn't have a feature like that, but there are some extensions that add that feature to Firefox.

  • Can Firefox be set up so that when you click on a bookmark it automatically opens in a new window or tab?

    I don't have an issue with how the tabs work. But, the other user of my laptop can not distinguish between the concepts of "x" and "+" leading to constant frustration as he opens bookmarks over the tabs he wants left open.
    I thought it might help if a clicked bookmark opened automatically in a new tab or window rather having to click on the add a tab for a blank tab before opening a bookmark. But, I don't see how that could be set up, or if it can be, in the options menu.

  • Can Firefox be set to remember the "zoom out" setting it last used?

    How can I set a maximum (rather than minimum) font? On most page loads I have to zoom out (Ctrl -) on almost every website page to contain the page in the window?
    I am using an Acer wide screen monitor.
    Is there some method of having Firefox remember the setting?

    There are some add-ons that can be used to change the zoom level on all sites, for example:
    * NoSquint - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint
    * Default FullZoom Level - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level

  • Can Firefox be set to a default zoom that doesn't change back to small each time a new website is accessed? Downloaded add-on did not solve

    I have a new iMac with a large 27" monitor. I'd like to set a 225% default zoom on Firefox-- currently, each newly accessed website must be manually enlarged because the 225% size won't remain the default size for all websites; this is very frustrating. NoSquint add-on did not solve this problem for me. Am I doing something wrong?
    I'd greatly appreciate any help you could provide because I've had to switch to Safari for web browsing and I much prefer Firefox.
    Thank you

    Hi palmetto2008, <br>
    check this article: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]]
    <br>
    Shortly, you can configure Firefox to display all text at a minimum font size. If a web page contains text that is smaller than your defined minimum size, Firefox increases the font size of the text to this minimum. To set a minimum text size:
    * On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...
    * Select the Content panel.
    * In the Fonts & Colors pane, click Advanced....
    * In the Minimum Font Size drop-down, select the minimum size in pixels in which all text must be displayed.
    <br>
    Regarding NoSquint addon, you should be able to override the default zoom options and keep your settings between Firefox restarts. <br>
    See also here: [https://urandom.ca/nosquint/help.php NoSquint Help Page]
    <br>
    Apparently, there are many addons offering your desired feature like:
    * Default FullZoom Level
    * Zoom Page
    <br>
    Hope that helped you! Please report back!

    I would like Firefox to remember passwords automatically,is there any way to do this

    No, you can't save passwords automatically without a confirmation.<br />
    That would be a security risk if you are on a computer that is not your own and it would to to easy to steel passwords.<br />
    You will have to get use to and accept that you have to confirm a new password.
