Probably because you have an iPhone 3G and 4.2.1 is the latest update that you can get for that phone - it is too old to support anything further.
If you have an iPhone 4, then connect the phone to iTunes to update it and ensure that you have the latest version of iTunes too.

Mozilla is looking to have a browser of sorts for iOS in next while however it will likely not use the same browser and JavaScript engines that say Firefox uses on desktop and Android due to Apple restrictions. Many of the so called browsers are shells.

I've been trawling the web and it seems I can't do a software update on this old machine. I've downloaded an older Flash Player to see if that would change anything and whether Firefox will work with it, but alas, the DMG doesn't even open after downloading it from the official Mozilla site.
Any advice except buying a new machine?
I just need the basics of Firefox to work for email, facebook and limited website updates.

Can this work to backup iPhone...

I am 3 computers past my last backup in iTunes because my original one kept getting errors. I want to push everything to my computer via my phone. I have all my music saved externally, But I don't want to lose my notes, and preferably data within my apps. I could manually transfer everything, but this could result in a disaster. I was wondering if I backed my entire iPhone to the cloud, could I then pull that to my iTunes account and sync the two devices that way? I really miss having my iPhone synced to my Computer. Btw, it is 32GB iPhone 4, and includes every little bit of that 32GB. So I understand I would have to pay for that data to cloud back up.
As in, I dont care about my music. I have it all, Its everything else I dont want to lose. Does iCloud do this??

Ahh, I dont use iTunes because it wants to erase my phone's data and sync to my computer. But I dont want to lose the data associated with notes/contacts/apps.
But your saying that I could use iCloud to back up that data, then use iTunes to wipe my iPhone and by authorizing my computer, it will get all of my app and music purchases back. Then add any CD music from my backups. Then I can use iCloud to reput the notes/contacts/apps data back into my iPhone and this result in the same iPhone but synced to my computer?
(I have iCloud, but never backed up because I had too much data. But i realized it was mostly pictures. And i can manually back those up, so now I am actually under the 5GB limit I think)

I have guest wireless setup on a 4402 WLC. I am using a wpad.dat (proxy.pac) proxy auto-config script to ensure guest traffic passes through a proxy. After a few attempts at creating a working proxy.pac file, Cisco TAC provided one that worked successfully for IE and Firefox (I realise only IE is offically supported by the WLC however my issue is not with an issue of browser-WLC compatibility).
I am after a proxy.pac proxy auto-config file that will work with Apple iPhone Safari browser (the script below does not). Manually specifying the proxy is not an option as Sarafi on the iPhone does not allow "proxy exceptions" to be specified.
The script I use which works fine with IE and Firefox is below:

I can not see photos when I connect my Iphone 4s to PC but can see photos from other iphone 4s. Both phones uses same OS version. Any setting is difference?

are you using the same Apple ID on both devices? If so, that is the problem. Its much like trying to call your own phone number with a regular phone, you'll be forwarded straight to voicemail.

I have no way of knowing if it's unlocked. If you go to the section on the page that says technical details and click on more technical details the give you a link to contact customer support. Perhaps they can answer your questions.
The second iPhone says that it's factory unlocked so I would imagine that the first is not unlocked.

How can I make iMessage work on 2 iPhones with 2 different phone numbers using the same Apple ID?

My work requires me to split time between two countries (Ph and Bn). I had an iPhone 4 with a Ph number and a Nokia for the Bn number. iMessage was running on the iPhone 4 with the Ph number and my apple ID. I recently replaced the Nokia with an iPhone 5 which I set up using the iCloud back up of my iPhone 4. I cant seem to set up iMessage (and Facetime) the way I want it to work on the iPhone 5. Im not sure if iOS 6 would allow me to do this so I'm throwing this out to the forums to check if its possible.
iPhone 4 w/ iOS 6
- uses Ph sim card
- Ph number set in Phone>My Number
- iMessage>Send & Receive has the following data
Ph Number - greyed outand checked
Apple User ID - checked
iPhone 5 w/ iOS 6
- uses Bn sim card
- Bn number set in Phone>My Number
- iMessage>Send & Receive has the following data
Ph number greyed out and not checked
Same Ph number checked
Apple User ID checked

I believe because you migrated from a Nokia to an iPhone you need to register the Bn phone number with your Apple ID so it can be used for iMessage. The Pn number seems to be the only one registered

I could do that, however when I select the icloud button (or whatever the heck it is) I am asked to enter the apple id and password. So if you are suppose to create another one for icloud you'd think it would give you the option at this point which would be logical.

You can buy an unlocked iPhone at any of the 5 Apple stores in NYC. All are open on Sunday. Note a couple of things, however:
US iPhone 5's will work on 3G in the rest of the world, but not on LTE because the US phones use different channels than other countries
Be sure you say "unlocked", not "no contract"
If it breaks it must be returned to a US store for repair, and if shipped to Apple it must be from and to a US address
