Can fireworks batch processing work as a background process?

Hi,m
I have a simple problem.  Whenever I am batch processing a large number of images (fireworks cs4 windfows 7 64bit) fireworks steals focus every time it starts work on a new image so I can't work on other things while it works.  This is frustrating since I am working on a powerful mulkticore computer and need to crack on while fireworks does its thang.
Is there a way to tell fireworks to work in the background and stay quiet until I go back to it?
Jim

You speak of a problem that exists in CS4 and is fixed in CS5. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for CS4...
1) On Windows XP Professional, if you use a tiny app by Microsoft, called "TweakUI", you can set a setting that is called "Prevents applications from stealing focus". Once the setting is active, Fireworks CS4 (and older versions) cannot steal focus in WinXP, no matter what -- including batch processing.
2) But for Windows 7, there exists no such app, so TweakUI is not an option... You may try a trial of Fireworks CS5 and see if it works better for you; or you can try to find an app, similar to TweakUI, but for Windows 7.
Hope this helps!

  • Selected pics in Bridge don't open in Fireworks batch process

I am trying to do a batch process in Fireworks CS3, initiated from Bridge CS3.
If I select images in Bridge, then select Tools/Photoshop/Image Processor, and then run the action, the selected photos in Bridge are then processed.
However, trying a similar procedure: select photos, then Tools/Fireworks/Batch Process... the Batch Process Window does not open, but just the Startup dialog. If you then choose Batch Process, it doesn't recognize the selected photos in Bridge.
Am I missing something or is this a bug?
    Thanks

If it's the latest version ......... I have it (and therein might be my downfall whilst others upgade to be compatible with each other!!) .... except I must do an upgrade to the latest 2013 NIS, something on the Christmas spare time list to do (no emoticons for that ..... shame!!).
AMAZINGLY .... today .... something .... somewhere said, 'you can now view the embedded pics in Yahoo'. I did not do a thing .... promise!! It just happened.
That's the wonder of computers and software!! Just chill and maybe it will all happen/sort itself. Having been doing 'this' stuff for a 'few' years (or more!!) now, nothing really fazes me anymore. Just work round it or live with it!!

  • Can't batch process metadata since updating to 3.5

I used to be able to highlight several images in the Library Grid mode, type in a Metadata Label, and that label would be applied to all of the images. Doesn't work any longer. What am I missing? Doesn't work for Keywords either.

Okay, that worked. Now, I have never seen nor used that "Show Metadata
for Target Photo Only" option. How in the world did it get checked?

  • Can I batch process? I need identical effect processing of multiple video files

I have just joined Creative Cloud, so these are very basic questions.....sorry.
I shoot videos of live bands using two cameras, so I usually end up with around 25 separate songs per show and 50 separate files (2 cams, two files per song). All the files are: 1920x1080 resolution, 23.976p frame rate, Pro Res 422 codec.
I currently edit in FCPX and color correct in DaVinci Resolve.
Because of low light conditions, I often need to use the effect Neat Video to remove noise. However, FCPX doesn't like Neat Video: freezes up, will restart rendering sometimes, etc.
So, I need a way to take the color-corrected files from Resolve and process with Neat Video, then import them into FCPX for multi-cam editing. (If Premiere Pro handles Neat Video well, then I may switch from FCPX  to Premiere Pro and do it all there.........but I need time to learn Premiere Pro).
So I decided to try After Effects for this. I just tested some files in AE and the Neat Video processing went well.
However, I need to batch process the files if possible. Currently for each file I am:
    (1) Setting up a Composition
    (2) Adding the Neat Video effect to the file
    (3) Using the Neat Video window to adjust settings
    (4) Setting the render settings
With my approach I will have to set up 50 separate Compositions.
    Questions:
    (1) Can I batch process all 50 files, with one set of settings? (I tried using multiple files in one composition, but AE only rendered out the top file).
    (2) Can I tell AE that I want the render settings to be the same as the imported files (resolution, frame rate, etc.), rather than having to enter the render settings each time? I just want the rendered files to be identical to the original files, except for Neat Video processing.
    Thanks for your help.

I don't think Mylenium understood you. You need to not only bring each of 50 clips into it's own Comp but then you need to apply an effect (Neat Video) to each one before going out to the Render Queue... right?
Here's what I would do. Import all 50 clips into your project. Select all of them and drag to Comp button (on the bottom of the Project panel) or right click - "New Comp from Selection". In the dialog that pops up selct "Single Composition", use dimensions from the clip of your choosing, select "Add to Render Queue" and select "Sequence Layers". Open the Comp and select all the layers (they may already be selected), apply the default Neat Video Effect to all of them (or apply it to one, tweak it, select all the other layers and copy/paste it).
    Now download this script...
    http://www.redefinery.com/ae/view.php?item=rd_RenderLayers
In After Effects go to File/Scripts/Run Script File and choose the rd_RenderLayers script. Make sure you are happy with the Render Module settings and the file naming and off you go.
You'll have all 50 clips in 1 Comp, with one place to copy effects and then each layer gets output back to an individual file.

  • Can't batch process opening files with certicate encryption

    Using Acrobat 9.0 pro.
I am unable to batch proces files that are certicate encrypted.
    When batch processed a dialog message appears that reads;
    Cannot open document
    No files were processed
I have used the instructions that adobe has for using the associated digital id and ensuring this is logged in.
And also have set preferences for batch processing  security method to certificate security, no password and, password security.
FYI: I Don't have livecycle so can't try this.
Can anyone help with a solution for doing this.
I was able to create certificate encrypted files using batch processing so can't understand why I now can't open and print file created this way, since
Acrobat help indicates this can be done.
Adobe instructions indicate this should work??? What's wrong here.
    Thanks in advance

  • How can I batch process 4 diff image sizes from 1 master?

    Hi there
What I would like to do is create 4 separate image files of varying sizes (large, medium, small & extra small) from one master image. I would need the ability to name each file individually too, ie. picture1_large, picture1_medium etc
I have a few thousand files to process so ideally a solution that I didnt have to keep checking on would be preferable. I know I can create a batch process for one size but its creating the four diff sizes in a batch which im finding  difficult to work out.
any help would be much appreciated
    Jim

Simply drag the entire folder through Bridge—or even individual files—the invisible xmp files containing your adjustments will automatically and invisibly travel along with the image files, as long as you do it within Bridge, not through the OS.
Otherwise, you would need to set your Mac OS to always make invisible files visible, and you don't want that hassle.
Just use Bridge to move files around or to copy them to a new folder.

  • How can I batch process files to change name and extention in the latest photoshop cc ?

    Hi,
The batch process function has changed design recently and I cannot get it to change file names in photoshop cc 2014.
I keep getting new layers in the first file to open instead of a renamed batch.
I would also like to convert files to jpeg and resize ( at the same time ? )

Can't help you with CC, but you cannot change files types by merely changing the extension, regardless of program or version.

  • Can I batch process 92 files?

am trying to convert 92 mov files to ProRes which were shot on canon 7d. Have set up a droplet, and dropped all the files onto it, but it just hangs for ages without the box popping up to allow me to select the multiple processor box.
AIs this too much for it? I have a pretty fast machine Mac Pro 2.26 Quad Core with 12Gb ram.

thanks NLE. I needed it done through the night, so couldn't really do small batches at a time. I ended up downloading MPEG Streamclip which is free, and am only dropping in the footage just now, but it worked brilliantly - processed them all in one go and did it in about 2 hours. I had 51GB of H.264 files to convert to ProRes. Very disappointed that compressor (on my system) couldn't deal with this easier.
I'll be very intrigued to see how the new canon plugin deals with processing these files (when I figure it out!), and the time it takes to process. It appears to me that MPEG Streamclip might be the easiest way to process these clips in future.

  • Fireworks Batch Process..........

I have over 1,000 of photos I want to upload on my site, and
almost all my photos have different dimensions. I need my photos to
be 425 x 320 pixels. So I used FW batch option: "Scale To Fit Area"
and set it to 425 x 320 pixels. So now half of my photos are
maximum of 425 by whatever and the other half are whatever by 320
in height, All I need to know is how to adjust the canvas size to
all of them so all my pictures will be the same dimension: 425 x
320 pixels, instead of doing it manually 1 by 1.

You need to add the "Fit to Canvas" command.

  • Can i batch process/save for web various images to the same exact KB size? not just the quality perc

    Hello,
I have a batch of 500 jpg images all in different sizes 732 KB, 634 KB, 664 KB etc... I need to compress / save for web down to 130 KB the entire batch.
I've managed to create an action which compresses them lower than 130 KB at different sizes depending on how light or dark the images are,  but still not to an exact number. Is there a way to create such an action or script?
I'm working off of Photoshop CS5, iMac 10.5.8
    thank you for time,

Thank you for your response eartho, I have a client which needs them at that size for their site.
I figure i'll compress them as close as possible to 130 KB, but when I automate the batch resize certain images don't fall under 130 KB which is forcing me to go through the entire batch and look for those, and thus compress them individually.

  • How can I batch process CR2 raw files to tif's without losing color adjustments?

Working in BRidge and Photoshop CS6:
I have 160 color adjusted hi-res CR2 RAW files from my photographer, thought I was getting tifs. I need tifs for my INdesign file. I tried using the photoshop image proecessor through brige by selecting all my images and then saving as TIFFs but I am losing all my color correcting? Is there a way to save these out as tiffs as a group and not one at a time? I also might have lost my color correcting when I copies them all to one folder as well...not sure what is happening except now my great product shots look like crap. Please help.

  • Batch process to Tiff Image

I have several hundreds of psd documents every now and then and I need to print them out to black&white TIFF format. Is there a way that I can do an automation in FW CS4? I know how to get them into greyscale from Bridge but I am looking for Black&White Tiff image. is there a script that I can use? I haven't got to scripting experience yet. Can you help? I really appreciate your helps.

Just so we're clear, Fireworks is a screen graphics application and it may not be particularly efficient if you try to batch process a huge number of high resolution images.
That said, you can probably create a custom command to do what you want, and it doesn't require programming knowledge. FW already has batch commands for resizing, renaming and exporting files, so the only piece you need to add to the puzzle is sharpening.
Open a file in Fireworks. Using ONLY key commands, apply the unsharp mask filter. TAB through the input fields rather than using your mouse. Fireworks records keyboard commands, but not options selected with the mouse.
When you have the sharpening you want, tab to the OK button and press enter on the keyboard.
Open the History panel (Window > History)
Select the Filter Image step and click on the disc icon at the bottom right of the panel. This lets you save the shrapening as a custom command. It will appear at the bottom of your Commands menu in FW.
    Now go back to Bridge
    Select your images
Choose Tools > FIreworks > Batch Process
Your images will appear in included files window at the bottom of the Batch wizard
    Click next
From the Batch options pane, add the processes you want:Scale, Export and fromthe Commands section choose Convert to Greyscale and your unsharp mask custom command.
From the Include in Batch pane, set the order of the process to Convert to Greyscale, Scale, Unsharp Mask and export. Select the Scale command and change the settings as desired at the the bottom of the wizard window,
Select the Export command, choose custom from the settings area and then click the edit button so you can choose TIFF. When you've adjusted the settings to your liking, click OK (You willnot see an image preview when you alter these settings).
Click Next and choose to export the files to a custom location, so  you do not overwrite your existing files.
If you like, choose the Save Script button to save the entire process as a custom batch command.
Click the Batch button, and go have lunch. ;-)

  • Batch process not playing actions or saving

I'm having trouble with batch processing on the PC at work.
When using batch processing on my trusty but ancient Mac at home, one file opens, the action plays, and the file is saved and closed before the next file is opened. This is how I perceive batch processing is supposed to work.
But for some reason, any attempt to do a batch process of any kind on the PC at work just opens all the files, then stops. No Actions are performed and nothing gets saved. It doesn't matter if "override action save as" is checked or not, and it doesn't matter what action I attempt to use for the batch. Creating a droplet does the same thing when files are dropped on the droplet.
The office IT staff are decidedly unhelpful on this one. They know the OS and network, but little about the Adobe software. We're running Photoshop CS3 under Windows 7. This problem is slowing me down significantly on large jobs. It's especially frustrating because I know it should work, but it won't.
    Help?
    -Matt

There you are, along with the details of one of my more frequently-used Actions. If I can get batches to work, I'll make a couple of Actions specifically for the batches that play a bunch of my other Actions.

  • Batch Process increases file size from 230kb - 5044kb

I'm currently using Acrobat 7 Professional.
I want to use the "Batch" process to re-convert pdf documents that were watermarked using the batch process. We're talking 1000+ documents.
The reason we need to re-convert them is because the watermarked documents are taking more than 4min/page to print, if it prints at all.
I've manually re-converted a few of the documents using "print to pdf", kept the file size at 230kb and with no printing issues.
However, since we have 1000s of these documents to do, most with multiple pages, this would be a very time consuming project.
I've "Batched" "print to pdf" and it also takes care of our printing issues, however, the file size has jumped to 5044kb. Having literally thousands of files to do - this is an issue on our file server.
I've done multiple tests with adjusting the pdf settings in the batch process... some work (and again the file size is large) - some don't allow for printing or slow it way down again.
I understand that it's a "layer" or "transparency" thing that's slowing the printing process and when I mess with it in the batch process, it takes care of the printing issues but not the file size.
Can someone help me please??? I've been working on this for a couple days now and I'm at my limits.
How can I batch process that will flatten layers but give me a manageable file size?
Your help would be GREATLY appreciated - Michelle

I don't know if it can help here, but don't I recall that wayyyy back in Photoshop 7.0 the last File - Save As you have executed sets the JPEG quality for batch File - Save As commands?  I am not sure when the "Override Action Save-As Commands" became functional, but try this:
    1.  Uncheck "Override Action Save-As Commands".
    2.  Remove the "File - Save As" step you have recorded in your action.  The action should NOT save the file.
    3.  Save any old JPEG file at the quality level you prefer, just to set the "memory" of the quality level.
    4.  Run the File - Automate - Batch, specifying input and output folders there.
    I'll bet it will work.
