Can Flash Object be recognised by Screen Reader (jaws , WindowsEye)

I am trying to make my flash movie object Readable by Screen Reader ,. Is it Possible to make the swf movie accessible for Screen Reader(like jaws or Windows Eye ) . Main aim is that the blind people should be able to know the info through the Screen reader which helps in text to voice conversion
I am using Flash Professional 8 /AS2.0
Please suggest if any one Know and guide if any of you have done

Flash objects (images/buttons/etc) does not display on some PC's

I am trying to deploy an out of the box web application called the Mid-Tier, where some forms/pages in the application have embedded flash images/buttons/icons that do not display on IE despite the fact that there is Flash installed on these PC's. Most of the PC's are XP.
I suspect it is some of the security settings in IE. Unfortunately security options are disabled to end users so I cannot even get to see what these settings are..
This web application works perfect on some test PC's that have default browser settings and the same flash version installed.
The flash objects appear on these screens as white boxes instead of some control buttons and icons that should have been displayed.,. Hence these pages are non functional.
Any hints?

except the latest Flash Player you have also and the latest Java installed (Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.25.2 for Mozilla browsers) , check if you activate the plugins : [https://support.mozilla.org/el/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems#w_determining-if-a-plugin-is-the-problem Determining if a plugin is the problem], select always active.

also many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

How to read a local file using as3 in a flash object in HTML? [urgent]

My web site contains a flash object.
I want to use as3 to read some local .txt file
by getting the user directory of the file.
i know AIR can support this by sth like:
File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath
but when i open a AIR file for this, it seems
the action cant be run when i embed it in html.
And i tried to use the above function in a normal
flash file in the action script.
But it cant recognize the File. class..
How can it be done ?

a web based flash app can't detect user directories. you can use the filereference class'es browse method to let the user locate a file in any directory the user wants. flash can then retrieve the file's name and type. but, as mentioned before, flash can't determine the file's directory.

That means it can find the Hard Drive, or can't find the things needed for booting.
See if DU even sees it.

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Can there be buttons/links on or in flash object?

Hi, I have no idea how to ask this question properly. I am only designing this, not making it, so simple answers for me would be good, but also technical answers that I can pass on to the flash person.
On my home page, I am going to have 3 images that switch out, each that need to have a "learn more >" link and a 1, 2, 3, and pause buttons.
My question is whether or not these image buttons/links can be placed on or embedded in the flash object. I read this is not possible and that buttons or links have to be separate from flash. Ideally if I wanted to place a "go" button on top of my flash image, that would be great.
However I have been told the only option is to make one side of this in photoshop where I have the buttons and then place that next to the flash image. My example of this would be the msn.com home page.
If further descriptions are needed I can post an example.

Your image hasn't loaded yet, so I'll describe what you should do. Chances are you will only need one set of buttons to manage everything rather than creating a set for each image.
If you want to convert each of these items into usable buttons, then select one of them, being sure that all its pieces are selected, then right click on it and select Convert to Symbol ( select it and in the toolbar choose Modify -> Convert to Symbol).
In the interface that appears, select Button (you could also select MovieClip, but for now, select Button) and give it a name that relates to its functionality in some way, just so it is recognizable by its name in the library. Click OK.
Do that for all of the items you want to turn into buttons. To make things easier to manage, you should place the buttons on their own layer in the timeline.
If you are handing this over to someone who knows Flash, they should be able to deal with coding the buttons to function the way you want.

Can't authorize a Flash object in iWeb

Hi! I have a problem in iWeb. In my pages I have many Flash objects, like the YouTube player or the Vimeo player.
Today I tried to put the Facebook player on the page and the Flash Player Security dialog box came out telling me that the application /iweb-widget/1:$x-html-markup needed to communicate with static.ak.fbcdn.net.
If I click OK the Facebook player works with no problems, but every time I change page and then return there, the dialog box always comes out.
I now that I need to trust this local content using the Flash Player settings (and with version 10.3 is easier than ever), but I can't find this folder: I've searched everywhere and I don't know where it is.

When I want to navigate a webpage that contains a flash object, the Internet Explorer show the icon that the page contains an error, if I relod the page, the page now doesn't show the error and the Flash objects work well. This occurs recently, some weeks ago, I didn't have that problem. How can I fix this problem?
I'm using Win XP SP3, IE8 and Flash 14.0.0.145
I tried to uninstall the 14 version and installed the 13 version but the problem persists.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

Accessibility with flash builder and a screen reader

hi. a blind website student, using the Jaws for Windows screen reader from htttp://www.freedomscientific.com. was trying to build a basic flash builder flex project, and using jaws 13.0.718, on a toshiba laptop with windows 7 professional 32 bit. now using the adobe cs 5.5 student web premium. i then pressed alt f, then new, then arrow right to flex project. then put in my name of the project, clicked to browse the folder, then there was a next and finish button, well clicked the finish button. the code windows comes up, press control !~ which took me to design view. now my troubles start. have to use the mouse cursur for jaws, which is the jaws cursur. and now, was able to left click using the caps key, which is the insert key, and then able to use the f 8 key for left click mouse simulation. but then came to a tree view, pressed t, until i heard text area, then tabbed around. no add button. so how do i add a component using the keyboard. or do i need to enable accessibility. and also tried to get to the properties of the control. managed to do that some how, but could not find the id property. so if any one can help me, new to flash builder and flex. tried downloading Extension Builder 2.1 and compiling on Mac but still have same results - images show up fine in design window , but not when running panel in Photoshop

added an image component to form
answered yes to add asset to project
ran project
image did not show up in Photoshop
went back to project
checked item Embed under Common image properties
ran project and image shows up
Looks like it works if I add @Embed("assets/image name") on Mac to display images

Sure. You can even upload the flash object itself into the mime repository right along the BSP application. Basically you just fall back to normal old HTML to embed the Flash Object. Here is an example that I just created a few minutes ago:

Making a flash object full screen and proportionate to a file's dimensions

When a flash file is opened in a browser to be viewed in full
screen, off-screen objects that should not be seen are often
displayed because the dimensions of the browser window are not
proportionate to the dimensions of the flash file.
I would like to create a page with a flash object that
preserves the proportion of the dimensions of a dynamic flash file.
Is this a feasible concept, and if so, how can I make it
happen?

Prevent the browser to read cached Flash object

I have a slideshow Flash object which pics filename are
supplied by an .XML
file created dinamically every time the page loads.
Unfortunately the .SWF is always being read from cache even
though the .XML is changed
correctly. The Flash movie always shows the pictures loaded
at start of the application.
I am able to refresh the Flash movie if:
- I restart the application;
- I set the browser setting to check for newer version of
stored pages to "every time";
- after 5/10 minutes have elapsed from the last reloading
(couldn't find a real pattern here);
To prevent caching I have tried the following:
- Added a random number at the and of the URL that calls the
page (...&r=#rundomNumber()#)
- Added <META HTTP-EQUIV="Expires" CONTENT="Mon, 04 Dec
1999 21:29:02 GMT">
- Added <META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache">

Click in your page where you want the SWF to go, then select
Insert > Media > Flash from the menu (or maybe Insert >
Flash ... DWMX goes back a way).

How can I make a table screen-reader accessible?

I need to make a table screen-reader accessible prior to publishing on the web. Is there any way to make a table accessible in Numbers?

This is difficult to answer without more specifics. How are you publishing to the web? And which screen reader are you targeting? In general you can get data out of a Numbers table quite easily in csv format (either comma-separated or tab-separated). With some work in AppleScript you could export it as a table with html markup. Presumably from there you have tools to convert and publish.
