Can Flex be used to design online questionnaire?

I am completely out of my depth here, but I am looking to purchase a program that can be used to design my own online questionnaire. I would like the following features:
1) abbility to generate followup questions (guided by input)
2) hyperlinking / "hover over" help  to guide answering the questionnaire
3) Dropdown boxes / databases to provide choices for answers
4) Be able to generate reports from the answers given
5) add images and perhaps sound bites
Can Flex do this???

Michael,
Thank you for your input. I downloaded a trial of Captivate 4. It is indeed impressive. However, I do have some difficulty figuring out how to branch my questions, (exclude certain questions depending on prior answers).
Also, is there a way that would accomplish the following:
Q1: Do you have high blood pressure?
A: Yes
B:No
Q2: Is your blood pressure well controlled?
A:Yes
B: No
Can one generate a predesigned form or report (Certificate) that will read (amongst other responses) as follows:
"Mr Smith has hypertension that is poorly controlled".
If Q2 was answered as "yes", then the report will read:
"Mr Smith has hypertension that is well controlled."
Thanks
Jan

  • Can't I use SharePoint Designer from local PC?

    Hello,
I need to start developing a customized workflow for managing some projects.
Is the Visual Studio.NET the only tool I can use and should it be only installed on the server ??
Can't I use SharePoint Designer from my computer and then deploy the workflow to the server ??
    Thanks,

Yes, Project server workflow needs custom activity.
Project server version 2007 and 2010 need visual studio for workflow development where as Project server 2013 supports both SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio .net.
It means it depends on your version of project server.
Yes VS.net need to be install on SharePoint(project server) directly for developing workflow for all the versions of project server.
local PC (on domain)you can use it for workflow development but deployment and debugging would be a problem from local PC. In this case i would suggest you to use dev environment server.
As far as SharePoint designer for project server 2013 is concerned you can use it from local PC while running SharePoint Designer but you need to run it as workflow set up account or farm account if you had used it as workflow account.
In Project server 2007 and 2010 version SharePoint designer can not be used for Workflow development.

  • Can Flex be used to create simple games?

Hi. I'm thinking of creating some simple games for children 6 - 10 years of age.The games can be things such as drag-and-drop and multiple choice. I'd like to store the results on a database. Can I use Flex Builder to do this or do you recommend Flash? Can you point me to a resource on this?
The reason I ask is that I've built web apps using Flex and have some basic experience with Flash. Will building games be very challenging if I have to use Flash? The project in question will start in January and have to be completed by the end of March 2010. Thank you.

As per your description for games Flex should be fine. It also depends on the skills and experience you have in the technology.

  • Can flex be used in a procedural rather than descriptive way?

My company is currently using Flash Studio 8 successfully.
We'd like to upgrade to Studio 9 to get ActionScript 3 but God
knows when that will happen. Anyway, so now we are looking at flex
since it can produce stand-alone .SWF files. There may be other
advantaged to flex too since it uses XML which plays nicer with a
    source code control systems.
I've used Laszlo before and it didn't work for us. Laszlo
forces you to structure the control hierarchy to reflect your data
hierarchy. This works very well in simple and regular cases but can
be a nightmare in very complex data relationships with a lot of
special cases. In effect, Flash Studio works like a procedural,
third generation language. Laszlo work like a fourth generation
language which is more descriptive than procedural.
Anyway, I called Adobe support and discussed this with one of
their experts and he told me that Flex had constraints similar to
Laszlo. In spite of this comment, I still started looking at Flex
    2. After spending a day on it, it seems to me like he is wrong and
I can do what I am trying to do with it.
So, here is my question. I'd like to use Flex to create flat
(where all the controls are at the same level) (in effect) resource
file, like I'd do in Studio 8. I'd then like to control the
behavior of the screen with ActionScript code. So, I should be able
to handle an arbitrarily complex data and user response scenario
with a simple Flex (the GUI part) layout and supporting procedural,
ActionScript 3 code in separate .as files. Am I correct?
    Thanks for the help.

I think I was seeing this same issue, but I wasn't able to pin it down as well as you have - thank you for that. My workaround was to find a way to keep lexicals out of the 'group by' also. I'm sure this won't be adequate all situations though.
Maybe you could try running your data template on different versions of BIP? I noticed that I could get results by running my DT throught the DataProcessor Java api in my (newer) BIP Desktop when, with the same data template, I got no results (zero rows returned from sql) when I tried it in EBS (v 5.6.2).

  • Understanding Flex: Can it be used without Flash-knowledge, and some other questions

    Hi.
I'm trying to understand how Flex works. My understanding is
that Flex is like the integration link between Flash-content and
.NET-applications on the web. We need rich interface on our
    .NET-applications - without ActionScript-coding required from the
    programmer's side.
Can this be acheived with Flex alone?
What is Coldfusion required for? Can Flex be used without it
to create the rich web interface?
Are basic components included and ready-to-be-used? What if
special components are needed? E.g. multi-level menu-tree or some
special data grid. Can this be developed by a Flash-programmer and
    used as a "generic" component?
My reason for choosing this would be that we easily can
acheive great web-layouts that are Flash-based, and that interact
with our .NET-applications. Is this the product I'm looking for?
    Thanks alot in advance! :D

It is absolutely possible to create complex custom components
    in Flex and without FlashPro.
Flex can communicate with the server in several ways.
    WebService: SOAP-based
HTTPService: XML over HTTP, (like REST and AJAX)
RemoteObject: uses proprietary amf protocol, needs Java or CF
    on back-end
There are some others like URLLoader and sockets.
Unless you need your back end functionality to be generally
available to anonymous third parties (hence the wsdl), WebServices
    are unnecessarily complex.
I prefer HTTPService, I post xml strings in the normal
name=value format to the server and use e4x xml as the resultFormat
    in flex.
Even though you said "roughly", that is still an impossible
question to answer, there are too many variables: On the back-end,
do you need to install a database? Create the schema? or is some of
that part done already? On the front-end, How will you navigate the
    records? See, too many variables.
The communication part is by far the easiest. Almost
negligible, although the Flash Player security can cause some
    head-scratching!

  • Why can't I use my new IPad to pay in stores with apple pay?

I want to know why it is not possible to use your ipad mini 3 or ipad air 2 to pay with apple pay in stores. Why can you only use apple pay online with ipads and with iphones you can use them for in store purchases and online purchases. I mean I guess how it makes sense to apple, sense most people wouldn't want to bring there ipad a long with them to pay, but for some people, especially if you have the latest ipad mini which is like a phablet anyways, I feel like it would be nice if you could use it to pay in store with apple pay.

We have no clue as to what Apple may come up with in future models, but for now the snazzy tap&go allure of ApplePay can only be done using an iPhone 6 or 6plus.
Purportedly the rest of the devices can do thru-the-web Apple Pay-ment, but that's not as sexy and not as widespread.

  • Using sharepoint designer 2013 - connected to sharepoint online - but getting " data source file cannot be saved" after making a new linked datasource

using sharepoint designer 2013 - connected to sharepoint online - but getting " data source file cannot be saved" after making a new linked datasource

    Hi,
Based on your description, I have done a test and I can’t reproduce your issue.
I have used SharePoint Designer 2013 to open a SharePoint Online site and there are no issues.
I’d like to clarify whether you encounter any issues when accessing SharePoint Online sites. If there are no issues during the accessing procedure, SharePoint Online service should be working fine at your side. The issue may be caused by specific SharePoint
Designer client or network. I suggest you refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. Use SharePoint Designer to open another site and check whether it is successful.
    2. When you are prompted to enter Office 365 account and password, try other users’ accounts and select the remembering the credential.
    3. Perform the connection procedure under another environment and verify whether the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, can you provide related screenshots for further troubleshooting?

  • Can I add a save and return button to my online questionnaires?

Hi,  I've created a rather long questionnaire in forms central, utilising skip logic rules to allow those completing the forms to ignore sections that do not apply to them.  However, some users have asked whether it is possible to save and return to the questionnaire at a later stage to complete, either because it is taking too long or they need to research an answer.
At present if thy leave the form part way through the data is lost.
Is there a save function for online questionnaires with skip logic?
    Please help.
    Thanks
    T

I support TA257, I subscribed to Form Central being a heavy user of FormEntry hoping to switch to Adobe product. Huge oversight from my side as I have the same issue as T, my users cannot fill their form in one attempt, it requires customer interaction and repeated entries. If they close the browser they are done, all work wasted! This makes it unsuable for me. Beautiful product, if a "save and continue later" feature was available it would give you the edge over all the offline products available. Even if the user had to login to be recognized later and even with a time limit before the uncompleted form gets deleted if there are serve space issues...
As a heavy form user (with another provider) and Adobe advocate I urge you guy to consider these requests. Adobe's functioanly, reliability and name alone would give you competitive advantage over the other products. When you have users like me that have spent thousands of dollars on competitor software, a server for data collection and distribution on a solution like FormEntry and ready to dump it all to switch to Adobe for a simple feature, I think you guys should at least consider as I am sure I am not the only one. Your forms can be used for much more than a simple "quick data collection" tool, extensive data colletion, field reports etc... This would unlock the possibilities of a mere data colleciton tool.
I know the offline form can be saved but in this competitive market a form without logic or features does not compete with other competitive products.
    Thank you for listening.

  • How to use form design for both online and Offline Scenrio!

    Hi All,
I have created the forms using WebDynpro context with ZCI layout for Online scenario.
There are some fields which need to be prefilled and are read only.. Header fields.
There is no interface structures created seperately but the interface is constructed through webdynpro context.
Now that I have to use the same for offline scenario, I don't see layout in SFP of form. I can create a structure for Importing fields but there is no Layout for mapping?
Do I need create seperate forms for this as I have some prefilled hedaer fields which I can't pass using download beacause there is no context design available for this?
    Regards,
    Srinivas

you could either create a separate form for your offline form using Data Dictionary interface or use the Data Dictionary interface for both of your forms.
You do have the option of creating your own XML file for your offline form - you may be able to copy the XML code out of your online interface, save it to a file and use that for your offline interface - i'm not 100% sure on this as I've never done that.

Unfortunately, this is a problem that is driven by the DRM Dictatorship.  Despite the proliferation of mobile devices and the fact that there are many of us who do a lot of international travel, content providers don't want you to have access to their products outside of your homeland.  The Balkanized mentality of the DRM Dictatorship is way out of touch with the modern world.
At least Apple, to its credit, allows you to use your accounts outside of your homeland as long as you have the proper credentials for them.  Most other services use the more Draconian geolocation filtering which does require you to be physically present in your homeland.  For the most part, you are not allowed to leave home if you want access to your favorite entertainment!

  • I used an American Express card to purchase my Ipad from Apple online. I have an Apple ID. why can't I use Amex as my payment method when signing in to Itunes?

I have an Apple ID, created when I recently purchased an ipad from Apple online. I used my Amex as payment method. Why can I not use my Amex as payment method when signing in to iTunes for the first time?

Yup, I'm a Kiwi, living in sunny Blenheim. Just seems odd that I can use Amex for purchasing in the Apple store but not in the iTunes store. Perhaps the higher charge set by Amex is not  economic for small purchases? Anyway,
I know now what to do now - buy an iTunes gift card and enter the activation code to redeem and sign up. Sorted! Thanks Kappy for taking an interest in my query.

  • Can we have approve/reject action button in email sent using SharePoint designer or do we need to custom code it?

    Hello,
for particular item approval, when user receives an email, can email contain button of approve/reject or if user just replies to that mail using one word "Approve/Reject", so that item value should get updated in list and also get approved.
Is it possible using SharePoint designer workflow or custom code workflow or Nintex workflow?
    Please guide.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Jayashri

    Follow these steps:
You can create custom page with code to approve/reject item.
Then you should pass item id (and other information if needed) in a query string.
In a workflow you can generate a link to the created page and add it to email body.
When a user will receive email, he/she will click on the button (link), then new tab with created page will be opened, where your custom code will approve an item.

On the iPad you can stream videos, photos, or music from the Video, Photos, Music, and YouTube apps to an Apple TV OR just stream music to an AirPort Express Base Station.

I frequently use Lightroom 3.6 for tethered capture on location. If I sign up for Adobe cloud and upgrade to Lightroom 5, do I have to be online all the time to use it? In other words, can I still use the program off-line?

    Yes.
The only difference is the installation method and the ownership verification. The program still is installed on and runs from your local machine. You only have to hook up to the internet every 60-90 days to verify ownership.
    From the FAQ
Do I need to be online to access my desktop apps?
No, the desktop applications in Creative Cloud, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, are installed directly on your computer, so you don’t need an ongoing Internet connection to use them.
An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.
Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode."
