Can FMS be installed on the same IP as my main web server?

Hello all,
As stated in the title, can FMS and my Linux server share the same IP or must they be differemt?
Thanks!

About port bindings, if you're not worried about having FMS listen on port 80, you can use a single IP for both FMS and your HTTP server. If you want to bind FMS to port 80, you need to have a separate IP address for FMS. What I mean by "two servers can't bind to port 80 on the  same IP" is just that... if you have both FMS and an HTTP server trying to bind to port 80 on the same IP, one will succeed, and one will fail.
In the configuration for the hostport, the xxx.xxx.xxx represents the IP address you want to bind to. The numbers following to colon are the ports to bind to.
By default (the default configuration) FMS will bind to all IP's on port 1935. If you want to bind to a specific IP, replace the wildcard with the IP to bind to... for example, if you have an IP 10.10.10.10, ad you want to bind to ports 1935 and 80, you'd configure like so:
ADAPTOR.HOSTPORT = 10.10.10.10:1935,80
The purpose for binding to port 80 is to help with firewall traversal. In some cases, your users many not be able to connect via port 1935, and some proxies and/or firewalls will prevent RTMP altogether. Assuming you don't specify a port or protocol other than RTMP in your connection string (on the client side), the flashplayer will first try RTMP on port 1935, and if that fails, it will try RTMPT (tunneled RTMP... rtmp wrapped in HTTP headers) over port 80.
So, to have the widest possible reach, you'll want to bind FMS to ports 1935 and 80, and to do so, you'll want to give FMS it's own IP.
You might want to read through the configuration guide in the docs.... lots of good information there to help you understand configuration of the server.

  • Can Tiger be installed on the same disk running Leopard?

I purchased a retail Tiger disk after I started having problems with Leopard 10.3 -- now solved, thankfully. Still, I hear that Tiger is great for Audio, my primary use, and so would like to at least find out how it feels.
So...I created a GUID partition (Extended Journaled) in hopes of being able to install Tiger on my Leopard MacBook. No go. When I boot up holding the option key, only my Leopard Drive and Boot Camp drive appear: the Tiger Drive does not. When I try to install from the disk directly on my desktop, I get a message saying that "Mac OSX 10.4 cannot be installed on this machine."
It has been suggested to me elsewhere that in order to install Tiger on this MacBook (rev. 3,1), I would need to downgrade the firmware to something circa Tiger. I can run either Tiger or Leopard, but not both. Can someone confirm whether this is true?
If so, I'm thinking I'll buy an external firewire drive and try loading it on that. In this case, would I get better performance from a retail external hard drive over against, say, transferring my original 80 GB MacBook hard drive to a FireWire case? (I've since upgraded from the 80 GB in my laptop.)

    Hi fizay

Since you created a GUID partition, I will assume you have an Intel Mac. This means that you can only install Tiger on the Mac if is an older model. The newer model which are coming with Leopard installed will not run Tiger. In order to install Tiger on an older Mac you will need to get the old Tiger install media for the same model in order to install Tiger. The reason for this is the generic Tiger disks only have PPC code on them and are worthless for an Intel Mac.

It is not true. Firmware cannot be downgraded.

Putting the old drive in an external enclosure will be a good thing to help you spread the I/O workload out across more disks but it will not help get Tiger running if you Mac came with Leopard.

  • Can two Portal install share the same Ap Server?

    Portal 3.0.9

    Hi All,
Is it possible to install two versions of portal on separate machines and configure it to share the same
application server where one of the Portals is installed?

    Correction:
In my previous post I meant to say Apache HTTP Server
    instead of Application Server.

  • Can anyone help me know the difference b/w application and web server?

i tried reading about application and web servers. it appears to me to be the same. please do help me to differentiate. Thanks :-)

An application server hosts business logic components for an application. A web server is an application which accepts HTTP requests.
An application server may come packaged with a web server.
A web server is a very simple process. It's HTTP daemon process that listens for incoming requests over HTTP protocol on a specified port usually, 80. For simple, static web pages the web server has the built in logic to serve them but for a complex operation(say read from database and display some records), it routes the URL to a component like the servlet engine....
An application server is a much broader term. For example the servlet may need to invoke certain business logic components like beans or activex dlls. The server that hosts these components is the application server.
    Hope you are clear now.

You can do it. This article from Macworld will be helpful to you:

    I recommend the "brute-force" method.

  • Can more than 1 ver of FF be installed at the same? If so, How?

Can more than 1 ver of FF be installed at the same time? I currently have FF 3.x installed, and want to migrate to the newest FF, but before I do, I need to see which of my add-ons are no longer needed due to new intrinsic FF features, and if other add-ons are compatible. I simply need to have the features of certain add-ons, and if the new FF does not have the features I need, and the add-ons that give me those features are not compatible with the new version, then I simply can't upgrade. At some point I will write a detailed document stating features that I believe should be built into FF, but until then, perhaps a new Mozilla Migration Wizard program should be created. It would be able to scan a person's current installation, add-ons and all, and provide a report on which add-ons are compatible with the version the person wishes to upgrade to, and which are not, and check online to see if updates for the incompatible add-ons are available. The Mozilla Migration Wizard should also tell the user which add-ons are obsolete because their functions are built into the newer version of FF. But back to the question at hand: Can more than 1 ver of FF be installed at the same time? If so, is there a special procedure to follow? Will trying to install a second version corrupt my currently installed version? I hope a dual installation is possible because it will help me to transition to the newest FF as smoothly as possible, and it may also provide me with insight to suggest new features, procedures, functionality, utility type programs, and such.
    Thank you for your time.
I hope to hear from you soon.
    Gunther

Yes. You can have them both on the same computer -- though you shouldn't run them both at the same time.

  • Can we have BusinessObjects 4.0 and 4.1 both installed on the same machine

Can we have BusinessObjects 4.0 and 4.1 (tool Clients) both installed on the same machine? Why? Why not?

4.0 and 4.1 are incremental upgrades hence both on the same machine are not possible.
Though u can use 4.1 client tools to login to both 4.1 and 4.0 servers.
3.1 and 4.0/4.1 together is very much possible on the other hand.

  • Can R12.1.3 and R11.5.10 be installed on the same server?

    Hello there,
We are currently running Oracle eBiz R11.5.10, and would like to install the latest version R12.1.3 for testing purposes.
Can R12.1.3 be installed on the same server (for both database and application tiers) as for R11.5.10? Any pitfalls that we need to be aware of if we do this?
    Thanks for the advice.
    Cheers!

Nothing would stop you from installing 11i and R12 on the same server as long as ORACLE_HOMEs, APPL_TOPs, and COMMON_TOPs of each instance are installed in separate directories. The only pitfall would be the performance (unless you have sufficient resources).
Please don't consider this plan for production instances!
    Thanks,

  • Can BO XI and CE 10 be installed on the same server?

We are preparing to upgrade our existing CE 10 to BO XI; however, we were unable to obtain a test server and will need to install it on the same server that CE 10 resides on (our development server).  I heard that both versions could not reside on the same server and I need this confirmed by a SME.  Thank you.  ~emoreno

    Tim,
I'm not sure that my question was answered.  I just need to know whether CE10 and BO XI can be installed on the same server?  I have a development server (not a VM) with CE 10 and another customer wants to install BO XI on the same server.  I heard through other sources that BO XI and CE 10 cannot reside on the same server.  I need to know if this statement is accurate?  If BO XI cannot reside on the same server as CE 10, then our contracted vendor will have to provide t this customer with a different server.  I need this information confirmed in order to notify my management.
    Thanks...EMoreno

I very much doubt you can use PSE10 with 502 kB of RAM.

You can have them both on the same computer as I and many others have done for years.
Just go ahead and install FCS 3 normally.
There will be absolutely no problems.

  • Can I have both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 5 both installed on the same computer?

Can I have both Lightroom 3 and Lightroom 5 both installed on the same computer? I like the "fill light" feature in 3 and use it a lot. I would have not gotten 5 except that the images from my new Canon 5D Mk III are not re4cognized on 3. I have 5 on a laptop and 3 on my desktop but would like to have both on my desktop .

Yes you can do this, but you can also get rid of Lightroom 3 and use the "Fill Light" command in Lightroom 5. You need to set the Process Version to 2010 (default is 2012 in Lightroom 5). Use the menu command  Settings > Process > 2010
But honestly, you would be wise to stop using "Fill Light", as the new sliders in Lightroom 5 produce superior image quality than anything you can come up with using "Fill Light". Yes, the new sliders take a little time to get used to, but your patience and effort learning the new sliders will be rewarded. You can find some tutorials and videos on using Process Version 2012 on that Internet thing.
