Can G5 1.8 dual mother board replace by a 2.5 dual

I've got a g5 2.5 dual mother replace to a 1.8 dual g5 tower, nothing happen except all the fans, did anyone know is it work, or my 2.5 mother board also dead?

2.5 dual mother replace to a 1.8 dual g5 tower, nothing happen except all the fans
FSB is completely different between the dual 1.8 and dual 2.5 GHz processors of the 970FX series....900 MHz vs 1.25 GHz. That likely isn't going to work as it is a big overclock.
Also, if the 1.8 processors are 970 series processors, I doubt that they would work on a 970FX board, which the 2.5 GHz board is..

My Macbook air has had to have the mother board replaced twice.  It is starting to malfunction again -- it frequently freezes when I am on the internet.  The screen also pixelates when I go from one page to another.  The warranty is expired.  Any recommendations?

    Hi angier,
How long has it been since the last logic board replacement? Was the previous repair(s) done by Apple directly or via an authorized service provider? If you're on MLB #3 and you're still seeing the same or very similar problems, I'd contact the place that did the service last, especially if it was in the past 90 days.
When you get a repair done through Apple, even if the machine is out of warranty, the service (and parts) carry a 90-day limited warranty. From my experience, Apple is often times flexible on this window as well especially if it's been a repeated repair.

  • Pavillion DV4 mother board replacement

My Pavillion dv4 VM298UA won't charge.  I tried a new battery, charger and DC jack but no luck.  After searching the forums it looks like I need to replace my mother board.  Does anyone have answers to the following questions?
    1. What causes a mother board to go bad like this?
    2.  If I replace it is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?
    3.  I have seen new and refurbished boards avaliable with the refurbished ones being about half the cost of new.  Is it ok to use a refurbished one?  The benefit is lower cost, but what is the risk?
    4.  Is there anything else that needs to be replaced at the same time?  ie fan, heat sink, etc
    5.  The boards I have seen do not come with a processor.  Is it a big deal to take the processor off my existing board and transfer it to the new board?  Any special tools or techniques needed?
    6. How likely is it that the mother board is the problem and not something else?  Is there any way to look at the mother board and tell?  Any tests that could be done?
    7.  Anything else I should be aware of before I invest any more $ into this thing?
Thinking about this another way, with the hard drive from this computer fit into any other computer?  I really would like to reserect the computer, but wjhat I really need to do is to get some stuff off the hard drive.  Is there another compure I could get that I could plug this HD into?
Are there any post that address these issues that I just haven't found yet?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Check with HP of Brazil or if they have eBay in Brazil and search for your board number to see if there is someone selling a matching board.

  • Mother board replacement

i purchase a probook 4441s laptop in 2013.   Last month my battery died so i  removed battery and and started using power directly. yesterday when i switched on laptop its screen was not functioning(no light)  and fan was running with hiccups i.e taking frequent stops. and when i removed power and switched again total blackout was there i.e no power. My repair mechaic told me to replace mother board . i m out of warranty and on hp centre it will cost around 11000 rs. Outside locally it will charge 7000rs, with 1 month warranty only. What should i do i m short of money. And i also want to know do the hp give warranty, if i go there for replacement. How much warranty and can it be extended by paying extra?

Help us help you. What is the full model number of the laptop? Without that information we have no idea which motherboard to help you get. Do you plan to try to do this yourself?

  • Can't open Aperture after Logic Board replaced

Have a question regarding obtaining new serial number for the Aperture program as after my mac (version 10.5.8)  had a Logic Board replaced
Aperture program ( 2.1.4) does not open as require serial number what I do no have anymore (all packaging gone long ago).
So if I  buy a copy of Aperture 2.1.1, it will give me a new serial number.
Will I be able to use that serial number to open the program I have (aperture 2.1.4)?
Or what is the best way to obtain images from the program i can't open anymore?
    Thank you

"Aperture 3 on your new Mac will be able to convert and to upgrade your current Aperture Library." - How ?
Do you have an external drive, where you can copy your Aperture Library to?
Make sure, this drive is formatted Mac OS X extended, before you copy the Aperture Library to it.
Also set the "Ignore Ownership" on this volume flag. (When you select your external drive in the Finder and use the "Get Info" command, you'll see this flag in the "Sharing and Permissions" brick.
You can simply drag the Aperture library to the external drive, using the Finder.
Then connect the drive to your new Mac.
Now you first need to repair your Aperture library - it is safer:
Select the Aperture library on the drive in the Finder. Hold down the ⌥⌘-keys and double click the library. Select "Repair Database" and let that run. That may take some time.
After this you should be able to double click the Library and to open it in Aperture 3 as regular library.
Without an external drive you need to copy using the Network or to mount your ols Mac in Target Disk mode http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3838?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US. Connect it to your new mac with USB or firewire and boot it with the T key held down.
Then your new mac will see the old one as external drive.
To extract only images from your saved Masters folder, select the Masters folder you copied in the Finder, then press ⌘F. In the search panel that opens add a search (press +) and set the search to "Kind is image".
This should show all images in the folder.
Caution! If the headline is set to "This Mac" and not to the name of the folder, you need to edit the preferences of the Finder. In the "Advanced" tab of the panel set the "When performing a search" to "Search this folder".
Don't touch any images in the search, if the heading shows "this mac". Then you are risking to move any image file on your mac.

  • Logic Board/ Mother board replacements

I'm sorry if this is addressed anywhere else but i have looked day an night to try and find a guide or at least a starting point on how to replace a broken logic board. I have purchased a broken macbook on ebay and I thought i would give it a go and see if i could learn a thing or two.
If anyone has any links or advice on where to go (even a book to buy) I would be eternally indebted lol.
    thanks a bunch.

Unfortunately, I do know where you can go - the Apple Store - to buy a new Macbook. A new logic board for that thing will cost almost the same as a new one and probably more than a refurbished one directly from Apple. They aren't made to be repaired.

  • Mother board replaced, but now software (CS2) needs re-activation..

Hi guys, feel free to tell me if this is the wrong place to talk about this, but i recently asked for help about the mini not turning on.
(The story behind request - below)
(Well that was a faulty motherboard, THEN my screen wouldnt talk to the mini when i got home! cos they had tested it with a different screen and wouldnt you know it, i had wireless keyboard and mouse, so i wasnt able to hold down any buttons on startup to reset the screen preferences! So i took it back to the shop and got that fixed. But when i got home, my keyboard and mouse werent working. So i bought a mac keyboard and a mighty mouse, but they didnt work, so i rang up the mac guys and talked for a while and i relalised that my usb hub had broken and just by being plugged in to my mini, the other accessories were being ********! Like it was draining the usb power. i returned the unneeded mighty mouse, So that was the end of that fiasco.)
But when i tried to get back to work, it wanted me to activate the creative suite again.
What do i do if this (my second computer) needs reactivation? If i put in the codes, will it mess around with my other computer?
Do i need to reload the programme? or deactivate my second copy over the net before reactivating?
Do you guys have any clues?
Or is the wrong place to be asking?
    sincerely Paul

it turns out that i didnt need to load anything at all! i hadnt gotten past the initial dialogue talking about activation because i hadnt wanted to start anything i couldnt finish. But as soon as i hit "activate", it sent off the codes originally put in and bingo, it was over.
So really it shouldnt say "activate" it should say "verify" shouldnt it? it causes confusion that way.
    Thanks for support.
    Keep up the good work.

  • Does all 1,25GHz MDD share the same mother board?

The real question is : can you test (for testing purpose only) a dual processor board from a (non working) G4 dual 1.25GHz MDD on a (working) G4 mono 1.25GHz MDD ?

Further more, it seems :P1_NAME in the same subquery is not working for the chart, i get xml parsing errors in SVGviewer, however the same query works for the spread sheet area, I am really puzzeled. Not sure whether it's dumb tool or dumb me :-)
    </quote>
For this particular issue, I found out that neither is the tool dumb nor is me. It's SVGViewer messed up with the firefox browser, after I rebooted the computer this morning, problem is gone. I didnt reboot after I copied SVGViewer dll and zip file to firefox plugin directory yesterday. Never had that pain with IE and Netscape, oh well :-). So please ignore this section, however other questions are still unsolved puzzles for me. Thank you all if you can share some light on those questions.

  • I'm giving my MBP 2011 to Apple tomorrow for a logic board replacement. Will they format my hard drive?

    Hi,
I'll start with the issue. Sometimes randomly my laptop goes to sleep while im using it. It is impossible to wake up from this sleep and forces me to force power off the device. Apple did some tests and concluded I need to replace the logic board.
    I have a few questions.
I understand they use refurbished logic boards, is it possibly I end up with a worse logic board.
The hard drive does not need to be formated, will they format it? I have backups but I understand time machine can become troublesome after a logic board replacement. I have a very specific set up and I would need it just as it is.
    Thanks

They very likely will, and they may return it with the version of OS X originally installed.
We are users like you, so we are in no position to tell you about such hardware repairs.
You should have a full backup available. Time Machine will not recognize the computer as your old one neither to restore or to backup. Time Machine will start a completely new backup. My advice is to make a bootable clone you can easily restore:
Clone Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • Can integrated sound be repaired w/o replacing mother board?

I have a s3600t slimline PC with "Integrated Sound" rather than a sound card.  The Device Manager lists "unknown device on high definition audio bus" rather than "sound, video and game controllers". Realtec High Definition Sound is missing.  Apparently I have lost the Realtec High Definition Sound chipset.  Can not download Realtec driver(sp37543). During install process receive message "can not continue system does not meet minimum requirements". If I have lost a chip, can the "Integrated Sound" be repaired w/o replacing the entire mother board?

    Hi:
    Try the Realtek drivers from the realtek website for the OS you have. Accept the agreement. Download and install the driver you need;
    http://218.210.127.131/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownType...
If you are getting the unknown device on HD audio bus, I would think there is nothing wrong with your audio chip or you would get no information at all.
If, in the unlikely event the onboard audio has suffered a hardware failure, yes, the motherboard would have to be replaced.
But before I went that route, I would buy a cheap PCIe x1 audio card to fix my sound. You have one available PCIe x1 slot for a PCIe x1 device.

  • How can I re-activate eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions after changing the mother board of my MacBookPro?

After changing the mother board of my MacBookPro to fix the video display issue, all my previous eBooks in Adobe Digital Editions cannot be activated. The error message: "Activation Server error - code E_ADEPT_INTERNAL". Please advise what I can do to read my eBooks again?

Hmm, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. I searched my entire drive for "digital editions", and this is the whole thing:
    /Applications/Adobe Digital Editions 3.0.app
    /Users/user/Library/Caches/com.adobe.adobedigitaleditions.app
    /Users/user/Documents/Digital Editions
    /Users/user/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.adobedigitaleditions.app.plist
    /private/var/db/receipts/com.adobe.adobedigitaleditions.app.bom
    /private/var/db/receipts/com.adobe.adobedigitaleditions.app.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.DigitalEditions.plist
The application itself, three small files scattered in your user account, to unimportant installation receipt files, and another preference file in the root Library folder. Removing those should remove everything related to version 3, which is what I have installed.
Where I substituted "user" above (for the three entries of /Users/user/...), replace that with whatever the actual name of your user account is.
Edit: I double checked the installer using a small app that sorts out every file in an installer, and where each item would normally be installed. The main app is literally the only item in the installer. The receipts are created by the OS per the installer's data, and the other minor preference files are created when the app is first run. There is nothing else.

  • My Macbook is 5 years old (purchase date July 06). It suddenly broke down : the diagnostic by Apple is that I have to replace the Mother Board.

My Macbook is 5 years old (purchased July 06). It suddenly broke down. The diagnostic by Apple Store is : I must replace the Carte Mere (Mother Board ?). The repair cost is outrageous ( $800). I cannot afford it and do not accept it. IT tech is supposed to last longer than a mere FIVE years. Even if it is out of date after a year, a computer should not technically fail like that. That is what I cannot accept. Will Apple pay for it ?

Sorry I wasn't clearer ... in the case of an auto, agree that owner wear items/maintenance aren't relevant to the discussion ... what if the electronic dash, for example, dies in 5 years? Unless you have an extended warranty, the manufacturer isn't obligated to repair it for free.
It's unfortunate that the logic board has failed after 5 years, however, it does happen.  It's not unusual for notebook hard drives to fail in 3 to 5 years, too.  You can always ask Apple if they will repair it. at no charge.
As a related aside, if you do repair your Macbook, you should have a good hard drive backup routine, assuming that your hard drive is the original one.  Since notebook drive failures in the 3-5 year timeframe aren't unusual, you've gotten good life from your drive, and you want to be prepared when it does stop working.

  • Hi, recently my MacBook pro 13" late 2011 model stopped powering up. I did looked into the internet they were saying memory problem. when I took it to Apple service center they said mother board needs to be replaced. could anyone help me please?

my late 2011 MacBook pro stopped powering up. Service people are saying motherboard needs to be replaced. The worst part is motherboard cost is 2/3 of the laptop cost. Could anyone help me to understand the issue please?

The issue is simple. Your Mac computer has failed because of a faulty Logic, Mother, board. Happens all the time with many make and model notebooks
Yes Apple Mac computers, even though more expensive than most any other brand, have these problems just like all the rest.
Only thing you can do is either pay to have the logic board changed or buy a new computer.

  • Fit Dual 450 mother board in 400 AGP?

Hi I want to fit a Dual 450 mother board into a AGP 400 mhz, I have noticed that the 450 Mother board has a twenty two pin connector and the 400 only a twenty hole connector.
The connector physically fits the socket via the guide slot but leaves the two first holes empty.
I presume these are the logic board feeds, can they be "jumped", if so from which pin to which pin?
    Thanks in advance
    Robert

    Hi-
There are a couple of differences besides the number of pins. There is also a 28v feed in the GE. The problem in the conversion is the 28v. The Sawtooth PSU has no provisions for providing such.
You can get a 24 pin adapter at a PC store, and mod the wiring to convert the 20 to the 22 pin scheme, and then you can add a 28v "wall wart" to provide the 28v feed.
Using the G4 Pinouts as a guide, you should be able to get your wiring revamped. The author from outofspec adds some comments regarding using the external 28v power supply.
A 24 pin Motherboard connector example can be seen, as well as some other advice is available.
Other options are to simply get a GE PSU and put in the Sawtooth case, or get an Aftermarket PSUthat has the necessary wiring.
When I added an ATX PSU to my Sawtooth, I first modded a 20pin-24 pin adapter, made a few tests, and then modded the cable of the PSU. The adapter was way too bulky, but did allow me to build confidence in the proceedure.
One other bit of advice, is to *+triple check all of your work+*, so that disaster can be averted.
