They should be able to. Does it have the jpg suffix on it? Select it and press Command i (Get Info) to make sure it really is a jpg.

  • Can fcp 6.06 open 7.0 projects?

feel silly asking this question, but is it possible to open fcp 7 project files with fcp 6.06?

    Simon,
    Welcome to the forums,
Not directly, but if you export your FCP 7 project as [XML|http://developer.apple.com/appleapplications/fcpxml.html] you can import that into 6.0.6.

  • Can Logic Pro 9 open Logic X projects?

I have Logic Pro 9 on my studio MacPro and Logic X on my MacBook.  I don't intend to upgrade the OS on my studio system until after the new OS is released and things look stable.  How can I share my projects between my MacBook running Logic 10 and my studio MacPro running Logic Pro 9?

    Verve,
The difference here is that older LP9 projects are now converted to a different format when imported into LPX and so the converted project cannot be then imported back into LP9 once the conversion is done.
This is why, when you first open an LP9 project in LPX.. it asks you to resave the project.... before opening it in LPX and you could use a different name at that point to easily identify the new version though the older LP9 version is preserved.
You can also use the Selective Track Import feature in LPX to avoid any such conversion if you wish.... though frankly it is not needed... as the original LP9 version is preserved.
    Cheers..

  • Can not use, or open, a recovered project with extension .rcproject

I had been working in a project for a couple of weeks, I was putting together a bunch of clips from different road trips and re-unions that I had with some friends.
One day I was removing video that I had marked as rejected. I selected the rejected video and tried to send it to the trash by selecting Move Rejected Clips to Trash from the File menu. When trying to send it to the trash my project was erased and iMovie froze right away. iMovie restarted but my project was not there anymore. I looked in the iMovie folder and there my project was, with a .rcproject extension. I made a copy of this right away. I tried to open this weird extension project by double clicking it, iMovie opens when I do this, but my project does not load.
So here's my question, how, if possible, can I review my "recovered" project and keep working on it?

So here's my question, how, if possible, can I review my "recovered" project and keep working on it?
I would normally assume that all of your "resource" pointers were "orphaned" by the removing of the project file. While it is theoretically possible to restore the file to its former location and check to see the pointers are re-instated, I personally would not bother to try and manually correct them if the pointers themselves have been changed. The "forté" of iMovie '08 is your ability to quickly edit content and, generally speaking, I find it easier to re-edit the project material than to manually edit all of the individual project package files.

  • Can Windows PC users open my .zip files?

I have uploaded a folder of photos that have been compressed to a .zip.
When PC users download it are they likely to have any problems opening the .zip ?
If so, what application will they need?

They are JPEGs but the zip is smaller.
The reason I have zipped them is because my "digital vault" will not accept a normal folder.
It just opens it and I have to select all the photos which I don't want to do.

  • Can't seem to get to garageband 10 projects to open in logic pro x

Can't seem to get garageband 10 projects to open in logic pro x. I know it should be easy, but it always opens as an empty project without giving any notification of a problem. Earlier versions of garageband seem to transfer fine. However, if i save the earlier version projects as garageband 10 projects, they again fail to import into logic pro x.
    Any suggestions?

Do you get the Dialog Window (that lets you save the GarageBand Project as a new Logic Project) when you open the original GarageBand Project? After you save it a Progress Bar should appear and then the Project opens in Logic.
Works on my machine without a problem.

  • Logic Express 7.2.1 - GarageBand 3 projects open correctly

If you've ever opened up a GarageBand 3 project into Logic Express 7.2 and heard no audio, you will want this new update. The main reason why GB 3 projects did not play sound when opened in Logic Express 7.2 is related to these projects using more busses than were available in Logic Express 7.2. Logic Express version 7.2.1 now features 12 busses, up from 8 in 7.2.
Hopefully, this will solve the majority of the 'no audio' issues GB users have when opening their projects into Logic Express.

    Sweet eh?
    Thanks & regards,
    Jorge

  • Hello, can I still play Garageband 9 projects/loops in Garageband 10, and how? Thank you

    Hello,
Can I still play GarageBand 9 projects/loops in GarageBand 10, and how?
Do I need to re-install iLife11 to be able to play GarageBand 9 projects/loops in 11?
    Thanks in advance

GarageBand 10 needs the loops and instruments from Garageband ´09 or ´11 installed to be able to play the older projects with all sounds. Otherwise instruments and loops may be missing. If you uninstalled GarageBand completely, reinstall iLife '11 to be able to use the older instruments and loops in GarageBand 10. before you install GarageBand 10.0.
GarageBand 10. comes only with a basic set of instruments and needs to be expanded by an in-app purchase. If you have GarageBAnd '11 installed, you should be able to get the in-app purchase for free.   Expanding GarageBand for Mac (v10.0) content with an in-app purchase

  • Can You Use the Open In GarageBand button when doing Artist Lessons?

Can You Use the Open In GarageBand button when doing Artist Lessons or is it just me? I've downloaded Bubbly and made a perfect recording but I can't click the Open In GarageBand Button. Is this suppose to be like this.

In the free lessons 8 & 9 you won't be able to click on it, also I don't think the paid lesson allow that either...

  • Garageband 10 project compatability?

    Hello
I'm an aspiring musician, and I use Garageband(6.0.5) a lot for my production work as it is simple and really effective.
I do this on my Macbook Pro.
However, I shift my work to my studio for further mixdown, which uses Logic 9.
I've been considering the update to Garageband v10 for a while now, but I'm concerned about the project files opening in Logic 9.
Ive had no issues so far. My .band files now open seemlessly in Logic, and I'm able to complete my work.
Will I be able to even after the update to v10?
Or will it require an update to Logic X as well?
    Thanks and cheers

A GarageBand 6.0.5 Project can be opened in Logic 9 and Logic Pro X
A GarageBand X Project can only be opened in Logic Pro X. Logic 9 doesn't understand the new Project file and you will get an error message. As you can see by the text of the error message, L9 doesn't even know that this is a GarageBand file. It thinks that the file is a Logic file.
Opening a GarageBand X Project in Logic Pro X is no problem, because GarageBand X is basically just a light version of Logic Pro X. If you need any help with learning either GarageBand or LPX, I have written graphically enhanced manuals for both apps "GarageBand X - How it Works" and "Logic Pro X - How it Works", both are also available as interactive multi-touch iBooks on the iBooks Store.
Using both GarageBand and Logic is now very easy, because Logic has a special mode where you can disable features which makes it easy to transition from GBX to LPX. It even adds the wooden sidebars in Logic to make the GarageBand user feel more at home.
    Hope that helps

  • How can I open an AEP project and make all media OFFLINE?

    Hi There,
I am working with an AEP file that is on the network that has pretty heavy media files linked to the project. Every time I open the file over the network, AE takes FOREVER to open it. I remember somebody showed me a way to open up a file and making all the media offline. Something like holding ALT when pressing the open button on the Open File dialog. Although, I can't remember if this is right. I'm on a Mac, and I'd like to know if there is a way to do this so I can open up the project without waiting, and simply link the files that I really need to be linked so I can work quicker.
Anybody have any suggestion? Thank you for your time and help!

    >You can just change the name of the folder where your sources are stored.
That works well for Windows, but Mac OS is a little trickier. The OS keeps track of folder name changes (even on network directories) and will re-direct requests appropriately. Very cool for users, very bad if you're trying to fool a program like AE. (Had to struggle with this about a month ago to offline some files.)
The only way I was able to make it work was by changing the name of the folder from a different computer while the main computer was disconnected from that server.

  • Can't open 1.0 projects in CS3 (no subtitles)

After working with Encore 1.0 for forever and a day, I finally got PPro CS3 with its accompanying Encore (running on Windows XP SP2). But I cannot open any Encore 1.0 projects. Trying to open my current project, I get this complaint:
    >Encore cannot open Encore 1.0 projects. Open and save the project in Encore 2.0 or earlier, then try again.
    A search turned up
this Knowledge Base article. It claims the reason is subtitles, but I have no subtitles in this project (in fact, I have only used subtitles once ever, and this was definitely not that project).
As a test, I tried opening various older project files. In a couple instances Encore CS3 gave the same error as above, but most of the time it simply crashed, with the following "details":
    >AppName: adobe encore.exe  AppVer: 3.0.0.268  ModName: sonicauthorcore.dll
    ModVer: 3.0.0.268  Offset: 004e4e20
The message or crash would not occur immediately, but after the several-second process of "preparing transcode settings", etc. that occurs in a small window with a progress bar, if you know what I'm talking about. So it seems like it doesn't like something about the assets it is processing, but I don't know what, because all these projects are different, and most were started from scratch as fresh projects, with video and menus created independently from other projects (some menus created within Encore 1.0, others using Photoshop CS2; some video streams brought in as AVI, others as MPEG2-DVD).
Ironically, if I try to open the only project I have that actually
does have subtitles, Encore CS3 is the most civil, and in theory it might even successfully open the project. It says:
    >This project contains subtitles in an older format. Opening the project will convert the subtitles to the new format, but the subtitles will no longer be compatible with the version of the software used the create them. Would you like to continue opening the project and perform this conversion?
I chose not to "continue" until I know more about why Encore is crashing, because it might convert the subtitles and then crash! But one unique thing about that project (besides the existence of subtitles) is that the solitary video stream is a VOB file from a DVD previously burned, rather than the more typical MPEG2 or AVI. I have no idea if any of this information matters, but I'm telling you everything I know.
Does anyone know what might be causing the problem, particularly with non-subtitled projects, and/or a solution or workaround? I own no version in between 1.0 and CS3, so I can't save it 1.5 or 2.0, which is the only other action suggested by the KB article besides removing my non-existent subtitles...

    In followup:
This is a distillation of the process for converting a Project from a previous version of Encore to a newer version remotely.
The problem: a user had Encore 1.0 and needed to get the Project into CS4. They did not have any intermediate version of Encore. The Encore 1.0 Project was shipped to me, to convert it in Encore 2.0, so that CS4 could deal with it. Because the computers were a few thousand miles apart, we had to do more than just Open the Project in Encore 2.0. This would be all that would be required if the versions were on the same machine, or over a LAN and just in different offices.
The entire folder structure is required. The Project will be in a folder (Ill call this the Mother Folder) with the .NCOR file, and then a series of Child Folders below in the hierarchy. The exact names and the exact folder hierarchy is extremely important, as is the placement of some of the necessary files. The name of the .NCOR and the first level of Child Folders must match exactly. The structure is the one we see with each Encore Project:
    Mother Folder with .NCOR
Child Folder Level One (same exact name as .NCOR with the
    two files:
    i ProjectPrefs2.xml &
    i ProjectWorkspace.xml
Child Folder Level Two Cache with file mlf.cache.v7"
    Child Folder Level Two Sources
Child Folder Level Three Menus with Menu .PSD files
In this case, the folder structure, with Menus and all files, except Video and Audio Assets were shipped to me. All Transcode files, etc. were also omitted.
Once the .NCOR (older version) has been Opened in the later version, a Save_As will create a new Project with folder/file structure. This entire structure needs to be in place on the machine with the newer version to allow it to be Opened. In my case, this complete structure was archived in WinRAR as a .RAR file and shipped out.
All of this is probably very obvious to most others. Again, if one is working on the same machine, or a LAN connected set of machines, it is a lot easier. Im just listing the steps and requirements, should Encore Projects be Opened on remote machines, whether for testing or for conversion.

  • Can Garageband instruments be imported to LE's library?

I'm having a rough go of setting up an external keyboard as a midi instrument. As a temporary workaround I thought of setting it up as a software instrument, which proved much easier, but then was disappointed of the piano offerings in LE's basic Library. Can Garageband instruments be imported to LE's library or is the only way to upgrade selections through additional software purchases? I'll eventually figure out the midi instrument angle, but until then wanted to know if this was a viable workaround? Thanks
    Casio CDP100 > MIDI Cable > SaffireLE Interface> Firewire > iMac

You should be able to see Garage Band stuff in the EXS24 sampler and load a set.
Open up the EX and look for the [cut off] and just above that is black window, click and hold and choose which you would like.
    Good luck.
