Can get past the "Power adapter plugging into wall" icon

I just got my brothers older 60gb Photo ipod and am trying to get it working on my computer. Did the whole restore thing, but now it is stuck at the Power adapter plugging into wall icon. I didn't have the original wall plug so I got a universal one at Radio Shack. Only the ipod still has the darn icon on it and I can't get past it. Any suggestions>

Lets do a trick. Connect the iPod and the cabel. The USB connector has 2 prongs that stick out a little more than the rest the goal. is to push it in a little so it charges but does not sync. Give It A Try.

  • "power adapter plugging into wall" icon

I plugged my mini into the wall(after getting this icon) but nothing's happening. I've reset it numerous times also. I'VE DONE EVERYTHING, BUT NOTHING IS WORKING. I'm on my sixth hour of trying to get this working. THESE THINGS ARE ALMOST NOT WORTH THE EFFORT. Any suggestions please!!

I am having the same problem. Ipod was running. Updated and got icon requesting me to plug ipod into external power source. Didn't have an external power source (since it wasn't supplied!) so I bought one. But I'm STILL getting nothing but the power plug icon.
And yes, I have reset it numerous times. It goes to the "batttery recharge" icon (despite the fact that it's been plugged in for hours and hours) and then the apple icon comes up and then it goes back to the plug in external battery icon.
I tried to see if I could restore the thing in that brief moment when the apple icon appeared, but no go. It never recognized the Ipod.
I have a very expensive brick and I'm very unhappy. There must be a workaround. Help please!

  • HT3131 how can i run in clamshell without the power adapter plugged in?

just what the question states..I dont want to have to always connect the power adapter. thanks

thanks this works well with the power adapter pluged into the mac, but I am looking for this exact setup without the need for the power to be supplied to the mac.
in otherwords, run it off the battery only.
I want to think that there is either a preferences setting, or function to be able to do this.
currently it appears that the mac will only run in the configuration with external perpherials with the power supply.

Now when I access my bank website, I can get past the login to my account page but the data is permanently unavailable. The bank says no one else has this problem. Everything is up to date as far as software is concerned. . .I just update anything that comes up. I have not had this problem with this computer anywhere else and I am not having a problem with any other website. I have the problem with both Safari and Google Chrome.

  • Is it better to use my Pro with the power adapter plugged in or out?

After charging my MBP's battery to 100%, which is better?
    - keep the power adapter plugged in to the laptop and resume using until you want to turn off the laptop
    OR
    - because the battery is already at 100%, unplug the adapter and resume using until you feel like you should charge the laptop again (maybe around 80%-90%)

If you are convenient to an AC outlet it's fine to use the adapter. However, keeping the AC adapter connected will not have an adverse affect on the battery. Once the battery has been fully charged it will stop charging. Recharge will begin once the battery's charge drops below 95%. LIthium-Ion/Polymer batteries do not exhibit memory effects. I can start the Notekook with the AC Adapter plugged, but it turns off before to reach the Welcome Screen or reboot. I tried straight to install Windows 7 with a another HDD . As soon as only the installation files are loaded, the system starts again. I do not reach times the beautiful blue window, of where the actual installation can be started.
    thx

  • Can I keep the power cord plugged in when battery reaches 100%l?

    Hello,
I'm assuming the battery stops recharging when it reaches 100%, right? In other words I can keep the power chord plugged in without any risk of "overcharging". Correct?
    Thanks.

Helpful, thanks. FYI, 2 Apple agents at Mac support have advised otherwise (said I have to remove the cord).
How bizarre....I have a 2.5 year old MacBook that gets great battery life (~4hrs) and begs to differ. Anyway, Thanks for the Star!

  • How can I paste the full path name into the find file dialog?

I've copied a full path name using CMD-C.
Now I click on a link in some web page (does not matter which one) which lets me upload a file.
The standard apple file selector dialog pops up (sorry don't know the official apple name for this dialog), to let me navigate and select the file.
How can I paste the file name?  Or how can I tell the dialog popup to navigate to the file whose full path name is in the clipboard?

Here is an image showing the file browser dialog I'm referring to.

  • Can the power adapter plug be replaced?

My poxy laptop slipped off the chair and landed directly on the power plug. I don't have a battery for the PB at the moment so power via the adapter was my only way of using it. Short of buying an entire new adapter I was wondering if the plug that goes into the laptop can be replaced since that was the only bit that broke. The rest of the adapter is all fine so it seems a bit overkill having to buy a whole new adapter just to replace the plug.

Your best bet will probably be to find a dead adapter with a good plug attached to it, cut off the plug and splice it onto your adapter cord. I've never found a source for the plug you need. I suspect it was made to Apple's order and isn't generally available.

  • I have a hp zd8000 how do i get past the power on coad?

I have a hp zd8000 with a power on code how do I bypass the code to get into it my grandson put it on now we can't get into it me or him!!

Hi: See if this works...enter any password 3 times and see if the PC generates a system disabled (halt) code. If it does, please read the info at the link below which may resolve your dilemma. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/System-Halt-... Then... You can: 1. Use the unlock code you generated to enter the BIOS
    2. Disable all passwords that are enabled in the BIOS's security menu.
    3. If asked for current password - type the unlock code
    4. For new password, just press ENTER key
    5. Repeat the same for verify password column. If that doesn't work unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

  • Opening up the Power Adapter

Does anybody know if you can prise open the power adapter so I can adjust the cable?
My cable is starting to fray near the adapter end of unit (from where you start winding the cable around the two prongs when you are transporting the unit) and I don't want to have to pay £55 for a new one. When a plug becomes faulty I simply open the plug and do what I need to to the wires and then we're back in business.
There is so much stress on this end of the wire that will happen again and again. A poor piece of design for such a great company!

Well after trying to hack into the adapter I decided to purchase a new one! It's worth looking around though as Apple Store were quoting £55 for a new one and I managed to find an official Apple one, brand new, on eBay for £30

  • 2009 Macbook Pro's fan spin faster with power adapter plugged in?

I was playing restaurant city on facebook with macbook pro with the power adapter plugged in
    ( a flash game)
after a while, the fan starts to spin faster and faster and made noise, and the body of the laptop starts getting hot too.
However, when I play the game without the power adapter, the laptop stays more quiet, and the i can't hear the fan spin anymore...(which sounds good)
but what i am worrying is that, is the hardware SUPPOSED to get hot and the fan is supposed to spin faster? the reason why it is not is because the computer recognize the power adapter is not plugged in, so it forced the fan to stay at a lower rpm to conserve power? (which do harm to my hardware?)

    Hi
that sounds normal to me - charging the battery produces heat, which must be removed via the fans.
They didn't run slower to conserve power, but because they weren't needed to remove the heat by=product of charging.
Flash is a real cpu burden.

  • Power Adapter Plug Keeps Disconnecting on 1.67Ghz ***

I constantly have to re-push in my power adapter plug into the
Powerbook 1.67 Ghz. It seems as though the socket in the Powerbook just wants to squeeze the male part of the adapter back out again and again. I have 2 power adapters that this happens with, so I am almost certain it's the female socket on the Powerbook itself.
Has anybody been able to get Apple to cover this problem under warranty?
    - Ted

If you are still under warranty I would suggest you contact AppleCare regarding your issue. Every case is unique so just because one person may have gotten it fixed, or has been refused, does not necessarily mean this will fillow in all cases.

  • Powerbook G4 won't charge battery or run with power adapter plugged in.

My Titanium Powerbook G4 will not charge the battery or run with the power adapter plugged in. When plugged in the power adapter doesn't change to amber showing its charging. Instead it has a green light that flashes off and on. I thought it was a defective power adapter but when its plugged in to another powerbook its seems to be working properly. I reset the PMU but that didn't help. I have been unable to find anything that would tell me what a flashing green means.
    Powerbook Titanium G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hi, Marshall. With no power being supplied to the Mac for several months, not only has your main battery gone flat (and may never again be able to take a charge), but your internal backup battery has also gone flat. A Tibook with a dead backup battery generally will not start up at all, even with AC power connected.
Try this: remove the main battery and leave the AC power adapter connected overnight in an attempt to recharge the backup battery. If the Powerbook won't start in the morning under AC power, the backup battery is shot, has lost the ability to be charged, and must be replaced.
If the PB starts up in the morning on AC power, set the date and time correctly, shut the computer down, insert the main battery, and allow 48 hours with AC power connected in an attempt to charge the main battery. Then disconnect the AC adapter and try to start up under battery power. If that doesn't work, and no lights or only one flashing light appear when you press the power-indicator button on the battery, you'll have to replace the main battery.
