Can hear a weird noise, almost like something lose or a static kind of sound

I bumped my iPad onto my knees and I can now hear a weird noise, almost like something lose or a static kind of sound - does anyone know what this is please.?

Can't tell what the noise is. Make an appointment at an Apple store to have your iPad examined.

We have a MacBook Pro and it is usually quiet, but it sits in a stand to allow air under the bottom.
Just my opinion, but based on experience.
You are still eligible to purchase the longer term AppleCare warranty I think (3 years if my memory is correct). While it is an expense that you may never need, in my opinion, it is cheap insurance based on the cost to repair computers. I buy it and more than once it has paid for itself many times over. Not that Apple products are bad, but electronics do weird things at times.

    Hi j131v,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
You may want to try resetting your iPod (Knowledge Base Document #61705 on How to Reset iPod). Have you tried "The Five Rs". Is this (Knowledge Base Document #303130 about iPod "stuck" on the Artwork or Rating Screen) your problem?

You don't have a Macbook if you are running OS 9 and it's 10 years old. The first Macbook is an Intel Mac that came out in 2006 running 10.4.x. You most likely have a Powerbook. Try posting in the Powerbook forum.

    Am I missing something ?
    Please advise.

Double check all your audio settings.
System Preferences --> Sound --> Input should be set to your audio interface.
GB --> Preferences --> Audio/MIDI --> Input should be set to your audio interface.
With your track selected, open the Track Info pane, and select the Edit tab.  Under input make sure that Mono 1 or 2 is selected (which number will depend on which input you plugged your bass cable into).

  • I get no sound when I play games on my iPhone 5s with just the speaker but headphone it works. Music works both ways. What do I need to do so I can hear my game without headphones like I can my music

    Hello tiffay8,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're not getting any audio output from your speakers when you're playing games.  Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

  • Weird background almost like moisture and volume issue.

    Hi,
I just got my iPad 2 days ago and everything seem to be working fine. Luckily I didn't have any wifi issues. I've kept it in good condition, away from kids, heat, water charged it to full every night and did frequent backups. Today while playing Fieldrunners my ipad decided to freeze on me. When I try to raise the volume it would take a picture. When I hit the home button it would take a picture. I had to do a hard reset holding the home and power button and doing it again to shut it off. Upon starting up the ipad, it kept showing the apple logo and going back to black screen. So I had to completly shut it off and plug it to a charger.
    What happened? http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs533.ash1/3125410150197146075468_651400467_12573980_500794n.jpg

I just had a second opinion with one of my friends who happens to work for cisco systems and he deals with coding and devices all day. I challenge any Apple Genius to debate the issue with my iPad of being water damaged. Here's what he told me from his professional opinion.
He stated that given the fact my iPad was covered with a rubber case grip around, there is no possible way liquid can enter the ipad unless it was dunked in water and held there for a few minutes. However, he did state that moisture is the common cause for liquid damage and a lot of devices. In his professional opinion, he stated that my iPad was exposed to moisture from the air which caused the pad to damage "OVER TIME". Because I was stepping outside the house with the pad and entering the home, the damage was already done and was a matter of time before it showed. Upon turning it on the next day, the pad showed it's damage because; once again "OVER TIME" the liquid settled in from the moisture.
He also told me to contact corporate office and dispute the idea that liquid was spilled on the pad. He also said that if it's that easy for moisture to enter the pad than the product is not of good quality.
I'm sorry to extend all this but I find it hard to believe knowing I never spilled a drop of liquid on the pad and I was told it was water damage. $800 is a lot of money and I'm not ready to give it up. We're not all made of money and for a device this expensive to damage so quickly I would think Apple would want to replace it for me especially being a first time Apple buyer.

  • Macbook Pro is slow/laggy and makes a weird noise

    Hello members,
I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion with all the latest updates. Everything was fine until 3 days back, when it started acting up. Moving the cursor was extremely laggy, and starting up any application takes forever. I also noticed a weird noise, more like a phone pulse dial, coming from the front. It repeats itself every 3 seconds, so I first thought it must be the HDD failing. But I have run all sorts of hardware tests but every test seems to infer that the HDD is working fine. Is it possible that the HDD is failing even though it doesn't show up on any test? The Apple store nearest to me is more than a 3 hour drive away, so it's almost impossible to go there in person. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advance.

  • Weird noises and voices when I make a call

Hello. I use Skype all the time at work. I usually make international calls and sometimes receive calls. Now and then, when I make a call, I can hear some weird, very loud noises in my headphones. It's like bits and pieces of conversations mixed with crackling and bumping sounds. Meanwhile, I can also hear the phone ringing. The noises stop when the other party picks up. The problem is they are very loud and my ears hurt every time because I keep the volume pretty high so I can hear the clients answering (the volume of the conversation automatically depends on the country I call) . What could be the problem? It happens with different headsets, different computers and different internet connections.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • IPhone 4s sounds like something is loose when it vibrates?

Ok well I have the iPhone 4s. When it vibrates, I can hear some buzzing noise that sounds like something is loose. When I put pressure on the bottom right corner of the phone, it doesn't make the buzzing noise. I've read a few things online about other people having the same problem. I guess it's due to a new vibration system? I dunno. It's not the worst possible defect. The buzzing isn't too loud, but it is annoying and obnoxious. Anyone else having this issue?

Same problem here. I wish there was a way to merge the similar posts about the 4S rattle problem so Apple can see that it is an issue. So far I've dealt with 4 Apple employees for this issue. The first, an in-store Genius, told me that since his phone also has the rattle it must be normal. The second was phone support. She told me that I was the first person to bring this issue to her attention and it definitely isn't right. She suggested I go to my local Apple store and ask for a replacement. I did, so now my third Apple person was a Genius. He again told me that even though he could hear the problem it sounded normal to him. I called Apple support again (employee number 4). Again they said that I was the first person to call with the problem. She started to suggest a restore but stopped herself cause I think she realized how dumb that was about to sound. In the end she basically said to deal with it and call back if it gets worse.
Awesome job on this one Apple. Please officially acknowledge the problem so your employees can get on the same page.

  • Weird noises from HP Pavilion m7

I hear these weird noises coming from my speakers on start up and shutdown or even going on youtube. I Reinstalled IDT high definition driver couple times cause Hp Support Assistant upgraded my IDT drivers and my BeatsAudio doesnt work. When i reinstalled it, it works but when i restart my laptop it makes this weird almost-like static like noise. Is there anyway to fix this?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57966.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Bios Menu ( usually f10 ).  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load, then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button.
    Restart the notebook.

  • Weird noise when starting up Macbook Pro

    Hi there,
When i start up my MBP, I hear a weird noise that wasn't there before. It sounds like a CD changer changing CD's. I checked and there is no CD in the CD drive. I don't know if it is an HD problem or the CD drive problem. I ran a hardware test and there were no problems found. Here is a video of the noise:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqKbdVHzsNc
Please give any advice you can. It is making me worried so please let me know. I will take it to the Apple store if this is an issue. But it might have always been there, I just never paid attention to it.

    seannlim wrote:
The rep said it was normal? Apple support said it wasn't so hopefully they will swap it for a Hitachi. Hitachi drives don't make that noise right?
I will pass that to eliaz for his input as he had a new MBP also, but from history Hitachi is quieter.
Sound issue aside. What is really important to look out for is that all these drives are slot loading and dust will come into the drive opening very easy. Typical case is that you will loose dual layer dvd burning capability and get bad burns. Solution is to invest in a cleaning disc. If that does not work then it's an exchange of the drive that is needed.

  • Unibody MBP - Making really really weird noises!

Right, this is simply the most bizarre thing i have ever heard of.
When i put my hand near my left speaker (not even touch) it makes a really odd high pittched noise, almost like a recorder (the instrument). I have never heard anything like it. However, this only happens in windows its definetley some kind of interference with the speakers, but when i mute the computer the noise stops. However, it still continues to "whistle" (its really loud!) when i put my hand near it.
Anybody have ANY ideas *** this is, and why it only happens in windows?
What the actual frick Im totally stumped guys
Fearing that it be wireless inteference, ive tried shutting off airport, mouse, moving phone away, with no avail. Still, just this really odd noise.
However, it would now seem that it is the mic - cause when i blow in my left speaker, i hear it out the left and the right. Ive tried turning the mic down in windows and mac os but that doesnt work! Still get messed up noise when my hand is near the left speaker/mic. And only in windows as well.
    Any ideas pleeeease :S

Oh yeah, and the tone of the noise kinda varies according to position and pressure of my hand. Weird huh :/

  • MacBook weird noises

I don't know how long it has been going on, but my macbook has been making a pretty strange noise. It is hard to describe but its like a whining high pitch noise, almost like the computer is trying to constantly process something.
Does anyone know what this is?
    Thanks

I've had this problem for a while too. I have one of the first Unibody 13" Macbooks and when my battery is getting low, or sometimes even when plugged in the bottom left of my MacBook starts to squeal. Whilst I have no real solution to the problem I have found one thing that works instantly.
I have a system preference tool called BetterTouchTool installed on my MacBook that lets you assign pretty much any multitouch action you can think of to any event you want to occur. I have 5 finger tap set to send my display to sleep. As soon as the screaming starts, I 5 finger tap and the noise stops immediately. I then just wiggle the pointer and I'm away again, no screaming in earshot. Strange I know, but it works every time for me.

  • Crackling Static Almost like a Lag sound

Alright so, awhile ago. My Toshiba laptop was sent in for repairs because apparently the harddrive was fried (i can only assume this was due to a virus.) about a week later i got the laptop back with a completely new harddrive but when i went to listen to music on youtube, every so often there will be a crackling static noise almost like the video lagged and the sound is dragging with it. obviously it's not really lagging the problem is definetly my computer because i never had this problem prior to sending it in. im hoping it's not my internal speakers that need fixing because im not sure how easy that is to get fixed. I haven't tested this with headphones yet. Can someone tell me what this may be?
    Solved!

I own a Satellite P775-S7365 & two days ago I was stupid & downloaded a free Anti-Virus.  I was able to restore my computer & remove all the junk it added. But....  Now my sound crackles & the video/sound lag behind.  I've read the other comments & solutions.  And I've removed & reloaded the sound programs.  But, it continues to do the same thing.  Nothing has been spilt or the laptop hasn't moved from my desk.  Help?
