Can hear audio, can't see video

Am I overlooking a setting on my ipod? I have downloaded a video from Itunes and can hear it, but can't see it.

my problem was all the way aroun I could see it nice and clear but couldnt hear it... I read another topic and they said U need to convert the video with a program from www.jodix.com I did that now the converted files go to the music folder as an mp4 file...

You cant directly add the video object to the stage
to add it on the stage add UIComponent to stage and add the video object to it

Can hear audio but not see video

hi,
so I'm incredibly new to this and it's probably obvious I haven't got a clue,
but I was editing a video - all is fine,
save it,
and now that I'm trying to continue working on it I can't see anything.
the original clip is visible perfectly fine,
however the edited version now just looks like three coloured bricks instead of an image, and in the preview is simply a blank screen. I can export the clip and view it fine that way, however the quality is much lesser.
I'm about to give up on this entirely.
please, any help is appreciated.

Can hear audio but get no video in QT player or iTunes or Safari

I can hear audio, but get no video (ie just a blank window or the "first frame" of the video) when playing basic ".mov" movies using QT Player. I also get the same behaviour when trying to watch movie previews in iTunes. I get the same behaviour when trying to watch QT movies in Safari (for example the latest apple advertisements from apple.com), although ironically I was able to watch the entire Macworld keynote without a hitch in QT Player?!?!
I know my mac is now "getting on", but I know it is still capable of displaying "ipod" sized movie trailers in iTunes.
Real player, cameraid, graphic converter and btv pro can all play the movies QT Player cant. Firefox can play the movies that Safari cant play. Unfortunately there isnt an alternative for iTunes.
Can anyone give any reason or solution to the fact that the core Apple applications are unable to play Apples own movie format when out of date, 5 year old, 3rd party software can?
I have tried
1) deleting the QT plist files
2) reinstalling flip4mac, perian, realplayer and flash, and
3) have just updated QT an iTunes to the latest version.
Any ideas?
The only hint I can think of, is that when playing a movie in QT Player, if you minimise the movie to the dock, and then bring it back to the desktop....it displays the "current" frame of the movie which sits there "frozen" until you do it again ... and just repeating, audio is fine.

Yes Techmo, persistence is the secret.
After the QT 6.4.5 update once again made no difference, I gave up with a brand spanking new 2.8Ghz iMac only a couple of days away.
On cleaning out the old mac getting ready to transfer files to the new mac, I unplugged everything but (of course) power, keyboard and mouse.
I dont know why, but I tried a movie...and it worked like a charm.
I dont know what was plugged in that was giving QT grief, but I suspect it may have been my ageing Orange Micro iBot webcam. Too late now to find out (and I no longer care as I gaze on my new 24 inches of beautiful screen real estate), but for all those with this problem....try unplugging everything as I did and see what happens. At least it might be a starting point to solving your problem.
Strange it only affected Apples own applications though???

FCP 7 - I can hear audio but not see the footage in the viewer or canvas

Ive had a few problems with my final cut. Im working off my laptop with a monitor. My immediate issue is that I have been editing fine this morning and then all of a sudden I could hear the audio for my clips but I can't see the footage in the viewer or the canvas. I can double clip on each clip individually and see what the footage is however. I've shut my computer down a few times and its not fixing itself. Also a lot lately when I sit down to do some editing the footage flickers on one clip and wont proceed to the next clips footage but I can still hear the sound. I would LOVE some help with this if anyone knows whats going on? Sascha

Make sure the canvas or viewer are selected then go to VIEW>CHANNELS and set it to RGB. It might be set to ALPHA.
OR...
Click on the drop down menu above the Viewer or Canvas and make sure that you are on IMAGE or IMAGE + WIREFRAME.

Hi all, just upgraded to iDVD 08 and i cant preview any themes 'old or new'?? I have a G4 1Ghz??

... but your original machine doesn't meet those requirements - throwing in a processor upgrade doesn't change the base machine you have.
The Quartz Extreme and Core Image graphics requirements came in with OS X 10.4
iLife '06 claimed compatability with OS 10.3.9; iLife '08 says 10.4.9 or later and ISN'T compatable with OS 10.3.x
iLife '06 didn't have the The Quartz Extreme and Core Image graphics requirements that iLife '08 does.
I'm sure you will continue to run into the Quartz Extreme and Core Image graphics requirements with MANY applications - and things will only get worse. That's one of the big problems with a processor update - you don't REALLY update your entire computer.

We can hear audio, but video blacks out every few seconds; picture comes back when we hit the tv's volume button. Everything seems to be plugged in well. The picture even starts out being sort of dim. And it goes through phases of working fine but then will randomly start blacking out again. Any ideas?

Downloaded Video from ITunes - Can hear it - Can't see it

I downloaded an episode of "The Office" onto my new 30g Ipod. The artwork comes up and I can hear the episode, but the video itself isn't playing.

If your listening under the "MUSIC" then you will not see the video, you must go to the "VIDEO" section. This seems obvious, but you may have missed this simple step.

So when you look at your Preview it is Black indicating a camera is there and selected as no camera would not show a video icon and if from the Preferences would be a grey background and a no camera message.
I see this is a iMac. Any chance it is a G5 one ?
If so go to System preferences > Displays and make sure it is set to Millions. (Change it and change it back to be sure)

System Preferences>Displays
There is a little white bar. When you have your TV connected, move the white bar to the other display. Your main desktop is now the TV screen

Cant get video from iPad to come up on Apple TV... Can hear audio

No video comes up when I hit airplay icon on my iPad (3rd Gen) to my Apple TV (2ndgen). I can hear the audio. I can see video on my iPad. I was trying to view from HBOGo. Didn't work trying to view YouTube either. It worked fine a month ago . Only difference I can think of is I now have iOS version 6 on my iPad

The computer must be connected to the same network. The modem is the device that communicates with the internet, the router organises your internal network and gives everything on it an address. Usually the modem and router are in the same device and all computers will connect to it either wirelessly or wired, is this not how yours is set up.

Video clipp is red but I can hear audio

I've just got Premiere Elements 8 and starting working with a project from Premier Elements 4. The video clip is all red and I can't see any pictures from the clip. I can hear the audio track. What is wrong?

As we often say on this forum, it's never a good idea to open an older version project with a newer version of the programs. Weird, buggy behavior like this is pretty common.
I'd recommend you finish your project in version 4 before beginning a new project in version 8.
You can also output your nearly complete project from version 4 (by selecting the Timeline and going to File/Export/Movie to create an AVI) and then import that AVI into a Premiere Elements 8 project for finishing.
