Can his PC with Powerpoint read the Keynote file (not video) I send to him?

My friend is going to upload his Powerpoint presentation (made on his PC) to my Public Folder in my iDisk. Then I am going to convert the PP presentation to a Keynote presentation, which will subsequently be uploaded as video to his website and to Youtube.
QUESTION: If I send him the finished product, remade in my Keynote, but Not in video form, can he then run that program in his PC? If so, would he need a Keypoint Reader? Or is it impossible?

  • Since I updated to the latest version, I keep getting a message that the server can't connect with urls containing the word "file" . I just want the messages to stop. It's working just fine otherwise.

See above. Message comes up every hour or so. Three times in a row.

Restart the iPad by holding down on the Sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut Off. To power up hold the Sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time (for about 10-15 seconds) until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider), then let go of the buttons.
If the proble is associated with not being connected via wireless, look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

I have a keynote presentation that includes a significant amount of video.  When I edit the keynote slides (not the video slides) how can I save the changes without re-saving the videos (because that takes a VERY long time)?  I edit the presentation depending on the audience to which I am presenting.

If you add a new  slide with just a text box (therefore a very small amount of data),  to an existing presentation then save,  Keynote will only save the new content to the file,  it wont save  pre-existing content as its already included in the file.
The time  taken to "save" will be very much shorter than a "save as" when all of the existing content is saved again.

    Hi,
I have iWork '06 on my Mac (running OS 10.6.8). Will I be able to use the Keynote files it produces with the Keynote iPad app?
    Thanks,

You probably can open the Keynote '06 files with Keynote for iOS but not the other way around. Files created by the iOS iWork apps can only be opened by iWork '09 apps on the Mac.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches.  I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow.  Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

I can't synch my iPhone with iTunes because the device does not show up in a device window when I plug it in...it's missing in action and thus I'm not able to add any content from the iTunes to my iPhone, e.g. podcasts.   All the instructions on synching start with "find your device in the device window".  But what if you have no device window?

Missing "message" from above: The iPad "DGMTR" is synced with another iTunes library on DGMTR's MacBook Pro. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library? An iPad can be synched with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iTunes library.
I thought the libraries were the same.

my somewhat old imac osx 10.5.8 with iphoto '08 will not read my RAW files from my new Nikon D800 camera - a new model on the market( 5 months or so). How can I get iphoto to read my RAW  files?

iPhoto 08 would not read RAW files from that new a camera. You need to upgrade so you can get more up-to-date version of OS X and iPhoto. Another possiblity is see if iPhoto 11 will run on 10.5.8, if so you should update. You can also attempt to run Software Update and see if it finds a newer release of iPhoto 08 that supports newer RAW formats.

  • Can I read the dd file without the device

    Hello,
Is it possible to read the DD file in Configurator 3.1 without connecting to the device?
The short version of the story......  I have only used the configurator a few times and was walked through the process.  Now I need to figure out how to control a positioner (DVC6000f), I just need to stroke a valve open, closed and position it somewhere between the two.  I am not able to connect to a positioner right now, so I would like to load the DD file into the configurator and look around to see if I can figure out how to give it a position command signal.  Once I am able to stroke the valve I will need to write a simple LabView program to make it easier than the configurator program.
What is the best way to figure out which block I need to position the valve?  I am hoping when I actually connect to the positioner it will be obvious, but life is usually not that easy.
    Bryan

    Hello Josiane,
Thank you for the information, I was able to load the DD and look around the configuration blocks.  Initially engineering only asked about simple control of the valve, today things have changed.  I found out that there are to be many tests performed on the valve including sine wave response, step testing, Hysterisis, linearity, dead band, and some others.
So my question now is how well can I control the positioner by writing a Vi in LabView?  I can perform the above tests on a positioner with a 4-20mA output signal from my DAQ.  Would it be possible to write the 4-20mA output signal into an input block (instead of an analog output channel) and control the valve in real time?  I could just change the mA signal into whatever units the positioner wants.  Or what would be the best approach to control the valve for testing?
Is there a number I can reach for support?  It might be easier than email.

I can think of two possible stumbling blocks:
What are your 8.6 options for "byte order" and "prepend array or string size"?
Overall, many file IO functions have changed with LabVIEW 8.0, so there might not be an exact 1:1 code conversion. You might need to make some modifications. For example, in 7.1, you should use "write file", the "binary file VIs" are special purpose (I16 or SGL). What is your data type?

  • Had to restore, now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod

I had to restore my iPod touch to factory setting when it froze up. Now I can't get iTunes to read the iPod. I get a sceen on iTunes that says "An iPod has been previously synced with this computer." Then there are two choices, "Set Up as a New iPod" or "Restore from the backup of: My iPod". I clicked on both and neither did anything. I can get music, but not apps, to go on the iPod, but I usually add things to the iPod manually. I don't see a way to do this. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I have no idea what else to do. Some help, please!

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
After that go to Settings > Wi-Fi and key in your Wi-Fi settings.

Mac book pro stops responding after Maverick OS restart. Currently have a circle with a line through it after 20+ hours. Tried to shut it down and use the Time Machine to restore but no response. How can I restore with Time Machine if it will not start?

    sonjadg,
you can purchase a replacement pair of grey installation DVDs for your MacBook Pro from either Apple or iFixit. If Startup Manager is only showing an OS X Installer volume, then it sounds like the Mavericks installer had a problem midway through its installation process. To fix this, you’re going to need to erase your internal disk and reïnstall your original version of OS X from the grey Mac OS X Install DVD, use Software Update  to get it back to 10.6.8 (presuming that your MacBook Pro originally came with Snow Leopard), and then restore from Time Machine.

  • Can SS9 coexist with SS8 on the same box?

    Hello,
First off, congratulations on the SS9 release!
I'm about to try it out, but I can't make sense of some what's said in the release notes.
"If you have Forte Developer 6 software, Sun ONE Studio 7 software, Sun ONE Studio 8 software, or Sun Studio 8 software installed, be sure to follow the installation instructions and install the Sun Studio 9 software in a different directory."
    The next paragraph says:
"If you have Sun ONE Studio 8, Compiler Collection software or the Sun Studio 8 software installed, be sure to follow the installation instructions and install the Sun Studio 9 software on a different system."
    The install guide says:
"If you installed an Early Access version of the Studio 9 software or any other version of the Sun Studio software on your system, then install the current version of the Sun Studio 9 software in a different directory."
So can SS9 coexist with SS8 on the same box, albeit in a different directory, or not? I have an S8 box with SS8 on it.
    Regards,
    Sergey

I don't have the installation guide handy, but the Release Notes say something different. The Install Guide is wrong about the EA and CA versions. The wording about installing on a different "system" is also wrong. I'll forward this information and see what can be done about correcting it. (No matter how many times a doc is reviewed, it's still wrong ... )
The rules for Sun Studio 9 installation are actually simple, and are the same as for all previous releases:
    1. You can install any number of different releases on one system, but each must be installed in a different base directory.
    2. You can install only copy of a given release on one system.
The default base directory is /opt, and if any release is installed there, additional releases must be installed somewhere else. For example, you could install Sun Studio 9 in /SS9 or /export/SS9 or any place other than /opt.
Because of #2, you must uninstall an EA or CA version of a release before installing another version of that release. For example, if you install the first EA version, you must uninstall it before installing the second EA version, or CA version or final release version. If you installed the CA version, you must uninstall it before installing the final release version.
Patches to an existing installation don't count as a new version. A patch by definition is installed on top of the release that it patches.

hi my bluetooth cannot see the other bluetooth devices. When it is picked up by a different device tries to pair with it but the pairing does not occur. what can I do apart from throwing this **** thing in the bin?

It isn't supposed to pair with the MacBook.  You can use WiFi to connect but not Bluetooth.  You can setup a personal HotSpot on the iPhone and connect the MacBook, or setup the MacBook AirPort to create a network and attach the iPhone, and use the USB cable to connect the iPhone to the MacBook for syncing and backup purposes.
    The communications are rather limited.
