Can someone please help me with a Macbook Pro booting question?
Recently, my mid 2010 MacBook Pro has started acting up when I am on Safari. Safari would unexpectedly crash multiple times in a row, then run fine for a while, then again, crash repeatedly. Not long after this began happening, an error message from my Prosoft Drive Genius 3 software, threw out a message that a serious error had occurred and I needed to repair the HD volume. Before I was able to run the software to repair the HD volume, the machine stopped working. I turned off the Macbook and when I tried to restart, it would not boot. I have since removed all external hardware from my machine and tried several times, unsuccessfully, to boot. I have also tried booting in safe mode when also does not work.
Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.Try SMC reset:
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. (four keys together)
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer. -
I have a Macbook pro 2009 with Snow Leopard. Which system can I install without running into complicated problems which I will not be able to solve by myself- a person with limited problem solving abilities. (Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite?)
It will make it easier to help you w/ your problem to know the size and RAM installed.
"Yesterday I couldn't update the maps on my Garmin because it said the OS I had wouldn't work"
What OS will your Garmin work with? Funny there was someone else that did that and upgraded to Yosemite and regretted it.
I'd say Lion if your Garmin is compatible.
Both Lion and Mountain Lion are downloadable from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
The OSs will get more resource hungry the higher you go. -
Ever since the systyem upgraded me to 3.6.6. I can not even run one eight hour day without firefoc either crashing or locking up which requires me use C/A/Deleate to close the program. I used to be able to run 8 to 12 windows at a time and NEVER lock up or crash with the older version. Is this problem being looked into and or being corrected. I use Firefox with Google and my system is XP Pro 32 bit. THIS IS REALLY making me MAD. My email is [email protected] and would appreciate a response to this ASAP. I have tried a couple of items from your help section and nothing works.

You may need to use '''[[Safe Mode]]''' (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.

Hi can any body please tell me how to open the .exe files in mac and why it is not supported with unarchiever app , also i am not able to run and dvd's in my mac its not accepting any cd's or dvd'd why? do i need to do some pre defined settings to run the cd's and dvd's ?
A .exe file is a Windows executable. OS X does not run Windows programs. If you need to use .exe files then you will need to install Windows on your Mac:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive. -
I have followed the Apple Support instructions but these 2 errors always appear: "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer" and 'Error 7' but still not able to run iTunes. Anyone have a suggestion?
Try completely removing and reinstalling iTunes and all related components; you may need to do this multiple times. It won't normally affect the iTunes library, but that should be backed up anyway.

is my iMac now useless as i have installed lion and i am no longer able to run cs2 photoshop and illustrator as this is all i use my mac for they should make this clear before buying it i can't afford the latest version of cs2 and cant believe what a waste of money it is.
The newest version of CS2 is CS5. And it was made very clear that these applications would not run in Lion. Not only by Apple, but on all sorts of communities and websites. It has been a long time coming - PowerPC apps were outdated six years ago. Lion does not support Rosetta, and therefore not PPC apps.
you have to options. Go back to Snow Leopard or upgrade your software. (MS Office 2004 and older will not run either).

Hey folks,
With iOS7 and 'potential' new devices coming our way very very soo.. The Question I have is If we can Shoehorn Linux on to it, then I'll be able to run it up the flagpole and push the button on that.It has been discovered that, when you run an iPad up a flagpole, the wind causes it to bang into the pole and shatter. Bad idea.

Can not be able to run DM packages by admin user with full access rights in security?
please suggest any solution ASAP please?Hi There
Have you ensured that the user has the Data Manager Execute task right ?
Have you tried to process the security of the users again?
If the user is a part of a team, have you tried to assign the task access specifically to that user ?
Hope this Helps

I have an imac 2006 running 10.6.8 but I still can't upgrade to Mavericks. Is this model not able to run mavericks, or is there a way to download? Apple says any imac running snow leopard or later.
Again, some proof would be nice
Instead of just making a casual, blanket statement, why don't you just post the actual install procedure here, then.
Also, the 2006 models really do not have sufficient RAM specs to run Mavericks well.
So, I seriously question that your 2006 model iMac is running well on Mavericks.
2006 models could either take 2 or 3 GBs of RAM (you can install 4 GBs of RAM to take advantage of more efficient RAM processing of matched pairs of RAM, but the hardware will only recognize 3.2 to 3.4 GBs of that total RAM). This is barely the needed "real world" "working" minimum of RAM needed for Mavericks to run adaequately.
New iMacs ship with a much better 8 GBs of RAM.
If you can't offer/post proof with an actual install procedure for installing Mavericks on unsupported Macs, then I would suggest you stop posting your assertion that
"I have done it" garbage and post knowledge and info that is REAL and relevant to users of 2006 model Macs that need accurate info about this. -
I have an Apple Mac (running MacOS 10.6.8) at a remote location. I want to be able to run Firefox on this machine but with the Firefox display window redirected to my local Mac. I used to be able to do this with UNIX (e.g. LINUX etc.) systems running X11 by setting the DISPLAY variable on the remote host. Is it possible to do this using the X11 on the Mac? and, if so, do I need to rebuild Firefox to display using X11? At the moment, whatever I try, Firefox just starts its window on the system on which it is started.
Dear finitarry,
The X windows system was developed in the 1980s at MIT (I seem to remember that it was called X because it was based on a window system developed for use on Xerox graphics terminals). X11 is used by Unix based devices to control their windows, so is used by Linux (a free version of Unix), but is not part of it. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to post this query on a MacOS forum.
Cheers

I would really appreciate if some one can help solve the above issue. That is always a classpath issue. Fix your classpath so it uses the J2ee.jar. If you are using an IDE you will have to look up how to add JARs to the IDE's classpath, which is usually not the same as the system classpath.
