Can I access 3G on my iPhone?

Not quite sure how you could consider me providing technical specifications from Apple's website for an item that Apple sells(read...doing all of your footwork for you) to be denying something. The simple truth of the matter is, Apple was very clear from the very beginning that the iphone did not have 3G data capability. If you have been doing any research on the iPhone for any amount of time, you would know that this is one of the biggest gripes amoungst iphone users. But, just to satisfy you, the CEO of AT&T did say that there would be a 3G iphone later this year. I can't go into any further detail on that because the terms of use on this board specifically prohibit speculation of the release of new products. If you really are that hard up for 3G access, then I would suggest you either wait for the 3G iphone to come out or buy a phone that has 3G capability now. If you have already bought an iPhone, then I would say that if you are not happy with it, sell it for as much as you can on ebay or craigslist.

  • Can't access MobileMe account on iPhone

    Hi there,
    I can't find an answer to this question anywhere here or through a Google search. Does anyone know how to access one's MobileMe account on the iPhone? I've tried everything and all I get is a dialogue box telling me to set up a MobileMe account. I already have one. I can access it via Safari on my new MBP but not on the phone. I've nuked and paved the iPhone, re-installed the software, updated to the latest version and still can't access MobileMe. The iPhone's Mail app works fine, as does Safari, but MobileMe continues to be a Byzantine mystery and Apple's documentation is feeble and hopelessly inadequate. I wouldn't care so much if I wasn't paying big bucks for this service.
    I will soon be at sea with no Internet access for the next month, so maybe somebody will have figured something out by then.

    Thanks to those who responded to my questions so promptly. Admittedly, some confusion surrounds the syncing issues. For some reason, I thought I could access my Keychain on my iPhone since it is synced with MobileMe in my MobileMe preferences pane on my MBP. Clearly this isn't the case. I have a lot of information stored in Keychain Access in secure notes and I needed to look at one of them via the iPhone while I was on the road. My bookmarks sync. This is where I was led astray. I clicked on my MobileMe bookmark from Safari on the iPhone and that leads me to a page "Looking for me.com?"

  • I can't access email from my iPhone 3gs since changing email password

    iPhone 3s 16GB
    iOS version: 6.1.3
    ISP Bigpond Cable
    I can't access my email from my iPhone 3GS.
    This is an iPhone problem, not an ISP problem.
    I know this because I can access my email from both my laptop and webmail.
    This is occurring here at home via my WiFi network and also a few kilometres away via 3G.
    This morning I had to change the password on my Bigpond Cable internet email account.
    Whenever I try to access email from my phone I receive the following error:
    "Cannot Get Mail"
    "The user name or password for "**** *****" is incorrect."
    There are two buttons, one captioned Settings the other OK.
    Both the user name and password are correct. This happened perhaps 4 or 5 times in the 6+ years I was with Internode and has happened a couple of times in the 20 months that I've been on Bigpond Cable.
    I have re-entered my email account and connection details multiple times to no avail.
    I have tried deleting the account, then rebooting my phone and creating a new account, but that didn't work.
    I tried deleting the account, turning the phone completely off, waiting one minute and then after turning it back on, creating a new account but that didn't work.
    I know I am entering the correct settings because before I deleted the account the first time, I took a series of screen captures from the Settings App and I also have the settings from MS Outlook to refer to.
    Its as though somewhere in the phone, the old email password is being stored and being used instead of the new one, but I don't know where that could be except in the Settings app, "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and that is where I am entering the new password.
    The only solutions to this problem I found by searching are those that I have already tried and haven't worked for me.
    Reverting to the old password is not an option. My account was compromised by Malware, hence the password change and a complete scan of my laptop.
    Any ideas?

    The problem was resolved by erasing the entire contents of my phone and then restoring it, setting it up as a new phone.

  • HT4623 recently installed apps can't access photos on my iPhone

    Operating Details:
    Device: iPhone 5
    Carrier: Verizon
    iOS: 6.1.3
    Goal: I'd like to update my profile picture on one of my Twitter accounts using an image stored on my iPhone in my Photos.
    Issue: When I try to edit a profile picture in any of the apps I recently installed (within the last 5 days) I receive error message.
    Message: This app does not have acces to your photos or videos. You can enable access in Privacy Settings.
    Action: When I go to Settings > Privacy > I only see the Factory Apps (Twitter and Facebook).
    Issue: I don't see the other apps I've installed; Linked In, Pinterest, for example. And the options for Twitter and Facebook only show the other apps that have asked permission to interact with it.
    Action: When I go to Settings > Photos & Cameras
    Issue: I don't see any apps, only options to edit my experience when viewing photos.
    Action: When I go to Settings > scroll down
    Issue: I see all of the apps I have installed but if I click on them, I am not given options to edit the privacy settings for them.
    Question: How do I edit the settings so that the apps I have installed can interact with the photos stored on my phone?

    Many thanks for alll of this.  I had the same problem and you showed me how to solve it.  I assumed that when I went to Settings, General, Restrictions which in my case were set to Off that I would be ok.  Not so when I returned the Restrictions to On and went through each one there was the app which I wanted to have access and I just turned it on.  Evertything no OK so thanks for the help.

    Anybody have a tip on how to access control center on iPhone while the keyboard is displayed?  Seems impossible cause when I swipe up from the bottom to access control center, it types instead. 

    UPDATE
    Saw other threads about Otterbox blocking the area to access the Control center. Sure enough removing it from the case and I can access the CC. But, I also found if you swipe up lightly and quickly the CC can be access with the case on. It takes some practice. But can be done.

    Only by restoring your phone from a backup that contains the deleted data, otherwise the data is gone. You can "try" one of the numerous iPhone data recovery software packages that are available. Most run around US $100 & I cannot recommend any, nor do I know if any work.

    I can not access the control center by swiping up. It doesn't matter which screen I'm on. It is turned on in the settings to be accessed in apps and the lock screen.

    Do you have a case on the phone? If so, what case? If you do, then try removing the case and see if it works.
    If not, then try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. After that, try again.

    Just to clarify... iPad/iPhone run the iOS operating system.  Macs run OS X.  While there are some underlying similarities, they are two different operating systems.  You cannot run iOS apps on a Mac and you can't run Mac apps on an iOS device.

    If you're on a Leopard operating system (10.5.8), you're not going to be able to sync to the iPhone 5. (The iPhone 5 needs iTunes 10.7.0.21, and that's only available for Snow Leopard, Lion or Mountain Lion.)
    You should still be able to sync to the iPhone 4S if you've got iTunes version 10.6.3.25 installed. (Your Leopard operating system supports that.)

  • Mail 4.5 can't access POP3 acct, but iPhone & iPad can

    Apple Mail 4.5 stopped retrieving / sending for my POP3 (Yahoo business mail) account.  However, my iPhone and iPad continued to work.  Apple Mail will try and try to send/retrieve and then does one of the following:
    Displays the little warning icon next to the account name in the Inbox.  Double-clicking the icon displays "The server returned the error: The attempt to send data to the server “pop.bizmail.yahoo.com” failed."
    Displays Enter Password for Account "Account Name".
    I did not change my Apple Mail account preferences nor did I change my Yahoo mail credentials.  The problem just started out of nowhere.  I also have two other email accounts in Apple Mail (both Gmail) and have not experienced any issues.
    I've tried the following without any luck:
    In Apple Mail, verified settings matched the iPhone and iPad, including incoming/outgoing servers, password, authentication, SSL
    Logged into Yahoo mail account using a browser and changed the password.  Updated MBP, iPhone and iPad.  iPhone and iPad work, MBP does not.
    In Apple Mail, rebuilt the account (didn't appear to do anything)
    Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Before I get started, doesn't a Yahoo business account offer IMAP access?  If you are checking your account on multiple devices you might like IMAP.  Perhaps you've explored that option and prefer POP.  Just a thought.
    Go to Mail > Quit Mail
    Go into the program "Keychain Access".
    Search for your email account by your email address within Keychain Access
    Delete all references to your yahoo email account and the yahoo email servers both POP and SMTP.
    Go the the Keychain Access Menu and Keychain First Aid > Repair
    Quit Keychain Access
    Launch Mail and check the POP account -- it should prompt for your password -- enter it and choose remember
    If the issue persists at this point create a new user on your computer and see if this POP account can be checked there.

    I have until today been able to make a backup of the iPhone via settings and icloud. But now the icloud option are not highligted anymore and i cannot access the icloud to
    make a backup.
    Then i made a reinstall of the iPhone and was able to reinstall the Iphone via an backup an earlier backup from icloud but with same final result:
    Not able to make a manual backup because the icloud icon in settings a not active.
    Do anyone have a solution to my problem?

    "Make sure you have at-least 50 MB of free space available on your iOS Device before you attempt to backup. If you have no space available on your device, iCloud Backup can fail in some cases. You can verify how much free space you have available on your iOS Device in Settings > General > About."

  • I can't access data from my iPhone 5 when off wifi

    I bought my iPhone 5 two weeks ago from Optus, Australia. I loaded up my back up from the iPhone 4, it all seemed ok. However when I was off wifi I had no data access. I replace the SIM card and Apple even replaced the handset. Neither of those helped.
    But finally today, I figured it out with some help from Optus.
    I backed up the phone, wiped it but did not restore it from the iTunes backup. I treated it like I'd never had an iPhone before. It worked. It appears there was something corrupt in my back up file.
    Everything is in the cloud, mail, calendars, contacts etc and of course all my apps were in iTunes along with music, podcasts etc. so I haven't lost anything.
    I just wanted to share this in case you're having the same problem.

    Try one of these until you're successful:
    1- Power OFF/ON.
    2- Reset the iPhone.
    3- Connect to iTunes and select "Restore from Backup".
    4- Connect to iTunes and restore the iPhone, then select your last backup at the end of the process.
    5- Connect to iTunes and restore the iPhone, then don't load a backup -- set it up as a new iPhone.
    Only 4 & 5 actually delete things from your iPhone, but in #4 you can recover everything exactly as it was before restoring.  Doing #5 means starting completely from scratch, so you'd have to re-do all your settings, preferences, accounts, passwords ...
