    How can I access iTunes media from my iPad to my time capsule with out a computer

    Really not suitable.. The TC is a dumb hard disk in a router.. it is not a media server..
    You can move your itunes library to the TC.. but if you do that.. one day the TC will die and take your library with it.. as well as giving slow response to every network device.. this is really not suitable.

  • Messed up Utilities Folder, can't access system info, won't back up from time capsule

    My iMac has 2 harddrives. 250 start up and 1tb  HD2. I was trying to make room on the 250 drive, and moved the Utilites folder to HD 2. Couldn't get system info, so tried moving Utilites folder back. Still can't get info, and there's an empty long bar under the size column beside the Utilities folder, even though the  items in each sub folder have a size reading.   There's a size reading in the HD 2 where I had moved it to.  There are probably other things I have now messed up. Also, when I tried backing up the computer from the time capsule to predate the changes, I got a case sensitive error and it won't restore...what have I done???

    Can't connect to Sonos now that I've switch Time Capsule from Bridge Mode to DHCP and NAT.
    There was a reason why AirPort Utility either configured the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode automatically, or told you to set up the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode.
    Bridge Mode is the correct setting for the Time Capsule on your network.
    If you want to run the Time Capsule in DHCP and NAT router mode, then your Comcast modem/router must then be configured to act as if it were a simple bridge mode modem.  Whether that is even possible is a question for the support folks at your ISP, since providers in general seem to be locking down the settings on the devices that they provide to prevent users from changing the basic operation of the device.  ISPs do this to make things simpler for the their support folks, as you might imagine.
    The simplest and best option......if possible......would be to swap the current modem/router for a simple bridge mode modem.......the kind of device that will have only one Ethernet port.
    The worst option......Double NAT.....is in my opinion not worth fooling with, since it can cause unpredictable things to occur on your network. Sure, some users can get away this setting.....on a very simple home network.....but yours does not meet this qualification.
    Strangely, we have seen some posts from users who claim to have been told by Apple Support to "ignore" a Double NAT error. That is hard to believe.

  • Can i access a external Hard-drive attached to a time-capsule remotely?

    Hello there,
    im sure i have seen this question floating around before but i there are many options to do this.
    i have a 2TB Time capsule and i have a 500gb external hardrive attched through the USB port?
    i am wanting to know if i can access that Harddrive through the Internet and maybe pick it up from school (Outside my home network)
    is this possible and how do i do it?
    My Macbook is running: OSX 10.8.3
    Airport Utility: 6.2
    Thanks
    Tom

    It is possible to share disks to the Internet. You'll need to manage this with the AirPort Utility (found in /Applications/Utilities.) Launch this and select your Time Capsule, and select Edit. Go to the Disks tab. You should see something like this:
    You'll need to make sure that the checkbox next to Share disks over WAN is checked. Click Update.
    In order to access the disk you will need to know the public IP address of the AirPort base station. Select your Time Capsule again and look for IP address. Note this somewhere.
    When you are away from your network, in the Finder go to the Go menu. Select Connect to Server. Where you see Server Address: enter afp:// followed by the IP address you copied down. Be sure there are no spaces following the //. Click Connect. This should connect you to the disk.
    One problem with this scheme is that if your IP address is gotten from your Internet Service Provider by DHCP (most cable modems for homes use this protocol) it may change over time. You can either put up with this, or ask for a static IP address (which costs more) or use a Dynamic DNS set up.
    Hope this helps you. Best of luck.

  • Can i use the computer while backing up with the time capsule for the first time? the

    I would like to install the time capsule. Since it will take some hours to complete the task, do you know if, at the same time, I can work on the computer?
    Thank you.

    Yes, work away.. it might slow down the backup but not significantly.. make sure you do that first backup by ethernet connection though.. it should take less than over night.. so really not that big a deal.

  • Can I use another computer as a external harddrive for time machine?

    I have a mac mini from a few years ago and it is never used. I was wonder if it could be used as an external hard drive for time machine. If this can be done how do I go about setting it up for this type of useage?

    Thanks for your reply. I looked at the Troubleshooting, but can't find my exact problem. It is as follows:
    I use a new iMac running Snow Leopard with a 500 GB external WD drive.
    -I looked the other day to find that time machine had failed, and when I looked at the backups, there had not been a successful backup since September 2009. I think this is when I installed Snow Leopard...
    -I went to run a backup, and it failed, saying I did not have room (I have about 220 GB to backup)
    -I decided to format the external hard drive and try again from scratch.
    -I began getting an error 11, and specifically -8062 and -36 (as examples) which specifically list files that it could not copy.
    -I reinstalled snow leopard from disk.
    -I excluded time machine from spotlight as recommended in some forums
    -I started ommitting some of the files that were listed as not being bale to copy, but now its into my music, and that's half the reason I back up.
    I am now backing up to laptop as above post, and if that works, I will conclude that the External HD has seen its day.
    If I get the same errors, I will conclude (nervously) that my computer has issues.
    Here is an example of an error message:
    Error: (-8062) SrcErr:NO Copying /Users/Shared/Music/Compilations/(album name)/(song name).mp3 to /Volumes/Time Machine 20100504/Backups.backupdb/Riskin's Computer/2010-05-04-222232.inprogress/F9243DA..(many letters and numbers)...D19/Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Music/Compilations/(album name)/(song name)
    then below in another message says:
    Copy stage failed with error: 11
    Backup failed with error: 11
    I get this same original error with different files, and with different error numbers.
    Apple support told me that by formatting external drive, and reinstalling snow leopard, they were 99.9% sure it would be fixed, but it is not.
    Frustrated,

  • How can I access another class in a MembershipRule's Expression

    Hello,
    I want to create an InstanceGroup using Module Microsoft.SystemCenter.GroupPopulator.
    I need to collect all Logical Disks which contain an MS SQL DB Log File.
    I would start as follows:
    <DataSource ID="DS" TypeID="SC!Microsoft.SystemCenter.GroupPopulator">
      <RuleId>$MPElement$</RuleId>
      <GroupInstanceId>$Target/Id$</GroupInstanceId>
      <MembershipRules>
        <MembershipRule>
          <MonitoringClass>$MPElement[Name="Windows!Microsoft.Windows.LogicalDisk"]$</MonitoringClass>
          <RelationshipClass>$MPElement[Name="MSIL!Microsoft.SystemCenter.InstanceGroupContainsEntities"]$</RelationshipClass>
    <Expression>
            <And>
      <!--
       First Expression
      -->
              <Expression>
                <SimpleExpression>
                  <ValueExpression>
                    <Property>$MPElement[Name="Windows!Microsoft.Windows.LogicalDevice"]/Name$</Property>
                  </ValueExpression>
                  <Operator>Equal</Operator>
                  <ValueExpression>
      <!--
        How can I access another class's properties ?
      -->
                    <GenericProperty>$MPElement[Name="SQL!Microsoft.SQLServer.2008.DBLogFile"]/Drive$</GenericProperty>
                  </ValueExpression>
                </SimpleExpression>
              </Expression>
              <Expression>
                <SimpleExpression>
                  <ValueExpression>
                    <HostProperty>
                      <MonitoringClass>$MPElement[Name="Windows!Microsoft.Windows.Computer"]</MonitoringClass>
                      <Property>PrincipalName</Property>
                    </HostProperty>
                  </ValueExpression>
                  <Operator>Equal</Operator>
                  <ValueExpression>
                    <GenericProperty>$MPElement[Name="SQL!Microsoft.SQLServer.2008.DBLogFile"]/Drive$</GenericProperty>
                  </ValueExpression>
                </SimpleExpression>
              </Expression>
            </And>
          </Expression>
        </MembershipRule>
      </MembershipRules>
    </DataSource>
    In the first expression you "see" my question:
    I want to compare the LogicalDisk's Name Property with the DB Log File's Drive property.
    But how can I access the DB Log File's Drive property in this MembershipRule ?
    Furthermore LogicalDisk and DB Log File must be hosted on the same Windows Computer.
    Would be great if somebody could help.
    Thanks
    Sebastian

    Hi Niki,
    thanks for the idea, but that will not work. $Target/Id$ refers always to the group to be discovered.
    On last week end I was given following idea, hope it will work:
    Step 1
    Collect all the DB SQL Logfile Objects and write computername (PrincipalName?) and Driveletter into a textfile, line by line. Shouldn't be a problem, PowerShell is your friend.
    Step 2
    Read the file from Step 1, build discovery data for each disk drive as object of class "Logical Disk (Server)",
    and then discover the containment-relationships from those Logical Drive(Server) Objects to the InstanceGroup.
    Perhaps I must do it for the OS-Version related Disks, because I need the target classes  of the Logical Disk Freespace monitors. Some more work. "Risks": I donot know the discovery algorithm for the Logical Disk(Server) Objects, but a "deep
    dive" into the MPs should help.
    Thanks to all, who have read.
    I will inform you about progress and success

    I have Time Machine that I used to back up my old computer. It was running snow leopard. My MacBook died, so I got a new one which is running Lion.  how can I restore the data from the time capsule to my new Mac?

    In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
    iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
    She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
    Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
    I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
    She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • My Macbook won't boot up because there isn't enough free space for my start up disk. It's now stuck on a blue screen. How am I meant to delete files to free up space if I can't access the computer?

    My Macbook won't boot up because there sin't enough free space to run the startup disk. My Macbook now won't go past the blue screen so exactly how am I meant to be able to delete files if I can't access the computer?

    Do you have a bootable backup?
    What operating system are you running? If OS X 10.6 or lower, boot from your original OS X DVD or a retail OS X DVD and then delete files as needed. Your goal should be to get to 10% of your disk capacity free.
    If you have OS X 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion, you don't have many choices in recovery mode (boot holding the command and r keys down).
    If you have a FireWire or Thunderbolt connection, you can try target disk mode with another mac.
    If none of those work, perhaps your local Apple store can help with a bootable external drive.

    Can I add another computer to this subscription?

    Hi doughnutking3,
    The licensing agreement allows you to use your subscription on up to two computers, as long as both are associated with the same Adobe ID. So, all you need to do is log in to the service from that second computer, and all is well!
    Best,
