Can i  access apps from itunes on my pc

can i  access apps from itunes on my pc?
I want to download my apps to my pc so I can clear some space on my iphone 4.
Then I can use the space for other things e.g music.
However at a later date I would like to access these apps and the data they have stored using my PC
Is this possible?
Or is this just another Mac problem?

Most apps will store their data locally on the device. This can be restored from a backup when restoring the device, but if you remove the app any data associated with it is removed, and then subsequently purged from the device's rolling backup set on the next backup. If the app supports iTunes File Sharing you may be able to export its data to your computer, then reimport at a later date when you add the app back to your device.

You will need a Backup Extractor program; there are many available. I use iScavenge for Mac, but there are many more. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=iphone+backup+extractor The one at the top of the search claims to be free, but it is not. Don't be fooled. I can't recommend for or against any of them, except iScavenge, which is OK.
If you are technically inclined the backup is a SQLite database, so a SQLite browser can also open the backup.

  • Can not transfer apps from Itunes to Iphone

HI everyone, I noticed this just the other day and I can seem to figure it out.
My Apps page in Itunes is greyed out and I cant navigate and add new apps from Itunes.
Sync Apps is unchecked and if I check it I get a warning saying it will erase all apps on the phone and replace it with the ones on Itunes. I don't want to do that as I will loose all the modified data within the apps. (Game progress etc.) And I don't know if that will fix the problem, plus all the apps on the phone are the same as the ones on the computer so I would not gain anything from that anyway.
I used to be able to change the order and remove apps from this page and now its greyed out. Any Ideas?
Restrictions on the phone are set to OFF.
...anyone know how to add a screen shot to this forum so you can see what I'm talking about?
    thanks!

Either you changed to a different computer to sync, or you changed something major on the computer so iTunes no longer thinks it is the same computer. The iPhone can sync iTunes content with only one computer at a time; if you change computers the symptom that you see is exactly the result.

  • Can't install apps from iTunes onto iPhone

    hi all--
I have a one-month-old 16GB iPhone that I play a lot of games on. I've purchased a bunch of games from the App Store and synced them over with no issues in the past, but my last 8-10 purchases simply won't sync over, no matter what I do. It's like the iPhone's purchase record was "frozen" at a couple weeks ago. Here's what I've tried so far:
    *Restoring the iPhone
*Deleting Apps from iTunes and redownloading to iTunes
    *Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes
    No luck.
When I attempt to download these same apps from the App Store on the iPhone itself, something even stranger happens. I get the "You have already purchased this, do you want to download again for free?" message, and the game begins to download normally, but it gets caught in an infinite loop as it attempts to install the thing. The "Installing..." progress bar will fill up all the way, but right as it finishes it resets to blank and starts filling up again!
Something is clearly wrong with my Syncing process, my iTunes account, my iPhone, or all three. Any ideas? I am getting pretty frustrated by this, as you may imagine.

yes... I have looked at previous discussions and seems like this is a common problem with no solution... I have done all of the other suggesstions but no chnage

  • How can I transfer apps from iTunes library from one computer to another?

I have been unsuccessful in transferring my music over to my new MacBook from my PC Windows Vista. I even subscribed to MobileMe, but it wouldn't work! So, I have decided to take the time to copy all my music to CDs & do it that way, but how am I going to transfer my apps? If I sync my iPhone with my iTunes library on my MacBook once I have transferred the songs, won't the apps be erased on my phone? Is there a way using MobileMe I could do so? Please please please help.

Do you have access to an external hard drive that you were using for your computer's backup with your PC which has enough storage capacity for your entire iTunes library?
If so, using the external hard drive would be a good way to do this. You would transfer your iTunes named folder in your My Music folder on your PC followed by transferring the iTunes named folder from the external hard drive to the Music folder on your Mac - with iTunes quit when doing so. This will transfer all music, videos, 3rd party apps, playlists, etc. from your PC to your Mac.
If most of your iTunes library includes music purchased from the iTunes store, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new MacBook with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps do not transfer from your iPhone to your iTunes library on your Mac, you can re-download purchased apps with iTunes on your MacBook and you won't be charged again as long as you use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the 3rd party apps.

  • Can't sync apps from itunes to ipad mini

i have purchased an app from appstore through iTunes on my computer but each time i try to sync it to my ipad mini
it gets interrupted with the message "authorize this computer" although i have done that already

iTunes is a mess. On the sidebar on the left there is a "On My Device" section. It shows everything *except* the apps. Above that there is a "settings" section. That's where the apps are. That's a "setting"?
The device handling needs a complete overhaul. There are many many people who have had an iPad or iPhone for some time, but do not own a Mac. Based on climbing Mac sales, clearly some of those people are deciding "I like this iPhone so much I'm going to get a Mac!" So they get one and run into this train wreck.
Even now, with the iPad selected, I go to the View menu, select View Options...,  and.....nothing. No window, no dialog, no indication of anything. Turns out that menu item is not applicable when a device is selected. Even with the original 128k Mac (my first Mac) they had this sorted out - dim the menu item when it's not applicable. Here we are 30 years later and they get it wrong.

  • Can't transfer app from iTunes to ipad Mini without updates transferring as well

I like to download the occasional app to iTunes then transfer it later to my iPad Mini.
However I find that later when I try just to transfer that app to my ipad,  iTunes insists on transferring updates of other apps as well ?
Is there a way to stop this ?

I don't want to download again as I have a download limit and some of these apps are very large and take a big chunk out of that limit.
This is why I download to iTunes on my pc so I can then transfer to other devices without affecting my limit.
It also makes a convenient local backup.

  • How can I access apps from home sharing library?

I can view my husband's music and video library, but I cannot view and access his apps. He has an old PC and the last version of Itunes. We are updating it now. What do I need to do to acces his iPhone apps?

Do you and your husband share one Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases. If not, that is a requirement for you to be able to access his purchases and vise versa.
If you do share one Apple ID then you have use that ID to enable Home Sharing on both computers. See my post in the thread I've link to below to learn how to enable Home Sharing.

  • Can't download Apps from iTunes downloads

I'm trying to download apps (the Chess game in particular) from the iTunes download section. There is no download "link" for the iTouch apps..just a URL for the app. How do I download them?

I'm guessing that you're talking about web apps? You don't download them, they are played online. Some of them are still available even if you aren't connected. You need to access that link from the Touch.
At present, there are no downloadable games for the Touch.

  • Can't update apps from iTunes store..

I'm using my iPad 2 and I can run apps, purchase apps, browse the app store.. But when I click on the updates icon, I get an alert that reads, "cannot connect to iTunes store."
I've restarted my iPad, logged in and out of the iTunes store, turned off wifi and back on.. Any other options?

What has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and changing the date to a few months in the future and then re-trying

  • Can't sync apps from iTune to 3GS

When I click on the apps for the iPhone in iTune, all my apps apear in grey shade.  I cannot do anything with them. They wouldn't sync to my iPhone.  Thought it was iOS 4.1 problem so I updated to iOs 5.0.1.  Still not syncing even after I shut down and restore computer as well as reset iPhone. Now all my apps are gone

    1) In iTunes with the phone connected, under the Apps tab, make sure Sync Apps is checked.
    2) On the iPhone, go to Settings> General > Restrictions.  Is Installing Apps set to off?  If so, turn it on.
