Can I access my email account on a second computer at a different address?

Question

The email account is used for a company which trades from my home address. Someone who lives at a different address will shortly need access to the email account as well. Is this possible?

As you have not stated what type of mail account you are using - I've given info on both:

by default POP mail accounts can only get access to the webmail Inbox and download from that Inbox to the pop mail account in Thunderbird.
Usually, it downloads and deletes off the server, so if you want to create POP mail account for the new user, you would need to mke sure the settings are to 'leave messages on server' on both your computer and the new user.

The main issue here is that the Inbox should not be used as a general store, so you create folders to store emails. Unfortunately, this would mean constant monitoring to make sure both computers actually were using the same folders, as the user can manually create folders, you could end up with emails stored differently on each computer.

So, you could enable IMAP forwarding via the webmail account and then in Thunderbird create IMAP mail account.
If you currently have a POP mail account in Thunderbird on your computer, consider creating an IMAP mail account, which can be set up on both computers, then each can see folders on server.
Move all emails from POP mail account into Local Folders first.
When you are certain all Pop emails are stored in Local Folders:
Then remove the POP mail account.
Tools > Account Settings
select pop mail account
click on 'Account Actions'
Select ' Remove account'
click on OK
Then create an IMAP mail account.
Subscribe to see folders. Synchronise subscribed folders to get a copy of folders in your Profile folder.
Make sure you create regular backups regardless of whether POP or IMAP mail account.
