Can I access my iCloud from someone else's computer?

Is access on my iCloud account permitted from another person's computer?

Hey kathrynfromloveland,
You can access iCloud from your friend’s computer by going to iCloud.com:

You cannot get to your iCloud account from an iOS device other than your own where you have iCloud signed on. You can access Find My iPhone on another device by clicking on the Find My iPhone App, and signing on with your iCloud ID.

  • Can i delete my account from someone else's computer

I'm divorcing and not at all tech savvy. My soon-to-be-ex (STBE)  is very tech savvy and is also quite adept at all things Apple/Mac.
I believe that my phone backs up to her Mac computer anytime it's plugged in and connected to wifi (multiple times per day, maybe?).
There are photos and emails and Notes that I do not want to been seen currently or accessed in the future by STBE.
I think the only way to access my data is via my apple ID but I'm not positive. I want to know if there is a need for me to delete things from the computer to remove them forever (especially given that the computer isn't mine).  I would assume that past backups have already stored versions of data I want kept private.
Also, if I have data (music, photos, etc) from my iPhone stored on the cloud, does that mean I can access it from a different computer when I leave?
Some of my data is not on currently on this iPhone but are on the cloud and I'd like to keep them. Is that possible?
Lastly (I'm sorry for all the questions!!) since we share a cell phone plan and I have to give my current iPhone back for some reason, will I still be able to keep all the data to put on a new phone and/or access via cloud?

You might want to delete any backups of your phone from the shared computer and start backing up to iCloud instead (assuming you have a separate iCloud account).  To start backing up to iCloud, go to Settings>iCloud>Backup and turn on iCloud Backup.  To delete backups from the Mac, open iTunes on it, then go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices, then select any backups on your phone listed on the Backups list and click Delete Backup.  (If you're having trouble identifying which backup belongs to your phone, hover your mouse over the backup and a pop-up will open showing the phone number of the device the backup belongs to.)
If you have to start syncing to a new computer, you will want to back up the entire iTunes folder on the Mac to an external drive, then copy that to your new Mac.  You can do this as discussed under "External Drive" here: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer.  Once on your new computer, you will be able to sync with the new computer without any problems.
If you need to give your phone back, be sure to back it up first, then completely erase it as discussed under "If you still have your iOS device" here: What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.  If you get a replacement iPhone, you can then restore this backup to the new phone to recover your data, settings and purchased media.

  • Can I access my icloud from an android phone?

I have a few questions as I am about to receive my first ipod Touch.  Please forgive my ignorance.  I've had a few 5G nanos but that's pretty much just itunes stuff; I'm not really apple-experienced and even on my (non-Apple) touch phone, I'm not very app-oriented.
    1) Although my 32GB Touch is twice the size of my 16GB Nano, it's not enough to hold all my music so I hope to stream from icloud to my car- which is where I generally use the ipod.  Since the Touch doesn't have 3G (right?), my plan is to stream from my icloud to my phone which will be plugged into my car stereo.  It's not clear to me if there's an app to access icloud from an android device.  Possible?
    2) I currently have an amazon cloud because I briefly owned the Kindle Fire.  I was sorely disappointed when I uploaded my entire itunes library, only to find that 60% of it was not allowed due to DRM restrictions.  Many of those songs were off of personal CDs, while others were off various websites.  I have very few "illegal" songs, so it was a surprise to me that so many were rejected by amazon.  If I understand itunes Match correctly, $25 will allow me to bypass any DRM restrictions- so long as the song is available on itunes (so most albums should be okay).  And what about the more unusual songs- live performances, underground covers, etc.?  If there's no match in itunes, will they be subject to DRM restrictions?  Do under-the-radar mp3s circulating on the internet have DRM restrictions anyway?
2a) I note that the description of Match covers "music you've imported from CDs or purchased somewhere other than itunes."  Is this "purchased" an important distinction?  I have many songs that I've legally but freely downloaded off of various music websites.
    3) If I'm paying for the Match service, am I still limited to 5GB cloud storage?  Do matched songs count against the 5GB?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your succinct answers.  I do still have a few questions:
    1) I understand that Match will let me store music that I purchased elsewhere, but what about an mp3 I downloaded from a random website for free, or a bootleg recording of a show?  Does that stuff get uploaded or denied?
    2) Let me clarify that I intend to do any significant interaction with my icloud on my ipod, but to simply stream random music or to play specific podcasts in the car, I'll probably stream through my android phone.  So... what I think you're saying is that there are apps that will allow me to stream from my icloud to my android phone, even if you didn't care for the one(s) you tried?
    3) Does the $25 Match subscription come with unlimited storage?  If not, does everything count against your storage limit except for what you buy directly through itunes?
    4) When you say the app to sync data to an android costs money, do you mean like $.99 or $5.99 instead of free, or do you mean that I'll need to pay monthly for a special kind of data processing though my phone company?  I use Sprint- I'm pretty sure my data use is unlimited (if not entirely reliable).
    Thanks again.

  • Can I download apps/updates using someone else's computer & ISP?

My friend was lamenting that she can't purchase certain apps because they are too big for her ISP e.g. Audubon is 1GB in size which would take days to download (wouldn't work, would get interrupted) and in any case would exceed the download allowance.
So my thought was "we have that app, she can buy it and abort the download of it and then I can just copy the .ipa to her computer and Install". But this doesn't work: apparently the .ipa itself is tagged with our purchase information and can't be used by anyone else, despite that they've purchased it too. Izzat right?
Assuming it's the case that downloads can't be re-used in any way, just how does someone with an inadequate ISP download large apps? Could I, for example, log-on to our iTunes with this other person's Apple Store ID, then download the app using my ISP; she's bought-but-aborted and then copy that download into her "iTunes Media/Mobile Applications" for her to install to her iGizmo?
Is there any better way to do this?

I doubt bandwidth is a concern at their end of the pipe. You can use a single copy, provided one of you is prepared to authorize the other's computer for protected purchases. However having apps from more than one account on any computer or device means that to update the apps you have to sign out of one account and into the other each time there is an update on the "wrong" account. To do so on a regular basis would mean sharing password details with the other party which ought not to be advised.

Thanks, I think this is finally sinking-in with me, helping me also to understand how this friend has an app from her husband's AppleID and computer on HER computer--they must have authorized his ID on her computer (they said they spent hours on the phone with Apple support to get the app onto her iGizmo, without being able to tell me how it got resolved).
What you're saying is that I should be able to "give" this friend the 1GB file I've downloaded, by logging-on to iTunes using my AppleID, and then Authorizing the computer for use (which decrements one of my 5 allowable computers).
But then it would work only once, and the next time the app needs to be updated she'd have to log-off and log-on as me and then do the update. Actually I think this might work, since these friends are pushing "elderly" and struggle to use their PCs and new iPhones, i.e. when they need to be updated they tend to call me anyway. I'd go over there, copy the dl'ed update to their PC, log-off and back-on as me, update her iPhone, and return the PC to her AppleID.
If my post indicates a misunderstanding on my part in any way, please let me know. Thanks again tt2 and JE.

  • Can you backup your phone on someone else's computer?

If you need to go get a new phone are you able to backup your stuff on your phone and then after updating your new phone can the owner of the computer delete your stuff and plug there phone in and have their stuff on there after??

    Hello Elena10
The best way to do that is to create a new user on a friend’s computer and then you can delete the user once you are done.

  • How can I view my iCloud contacts from someone else's iPhone? I don't want to change their phone settings.

Yesterday I ran into a problem that was eye opening to say the least. I could not not access my contacts in order to find a friend's phone number. No one remembers phone numbers any more. God knows I don't.
I was on a jetski and it broke down. I was stranded at a dock miles away. I needed to contact my friend to tell him (a) I'm ok, (b) where I was, (c) to bring a tow. Of course I had no phone on me because it would have gotten soaked.
People were kind enough on the dock to let me use their smart phones to attempt to retreive the phone number and call for help. But I quickly discovered that it is impossible.
On an iPhone, I tried to use their Safari browser to go to www.icloud.com. When you do that, it simply redirects you to the apps. But it isn't my phone, and their apps are logged in to the owner's accounts. I wasn't about to update the settings in a stranger's phone.
One guy let me try his iPad with Cellular. Same problem as the iphones. It would not let me use www.icloud.com. It insisted that I use the native iOS apps.
On an Android, www.icloud.com would simply refuse to work. It would say it was not supported.
The question I have is: How can I view my contacts from someone else's smart phone in an emergency situation?
Second question: Why can't I use www.icloud.com on a smart phone's web browser like I can on regular computer?
I got lucky. I happened to know my mom's home number. Many hours later she was home and I was able to use a phone to call her. She brought up www.icloud.com on her home computer, logged on as me, and read me the phone number I was seeking. But what are the chances of being able to call a trusted person who has access to a computer to do this for you?

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

  • How can I access my iCloud account from my computer, when I'm running OSX Leopard?

I have a Mac Book running Leopard and I don't have the iCloud icon in my settings.. How can I access my iCloud account/back up my computer to the cloud?

Your signature says you have 10.6.8 which is Snow Leopard, but that is still not compatible with iCloud. You cannot back up your computer to iCloud in any case - it doesn't provide for that, only for iOS backups.
The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is non non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
If you have already set up an iCloud account on another Mac or device you can make limited use of it with Snow Leopard - details here.
To make full use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mountain Lion, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
(If in fact you are running Leopard and it is an Intel Mac you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to access the Mac App Store - it's available in the online Apple Store. However if you have a PPC Mac you cannot run Snow Leopard and cannot proceed further.)

  • Logging onto .mac accout with someone else's computer

It has been so long since I tried accessing my mail account from someone else's computer (using windows) that I can't remember where to go to log in to my mail accounts while travelling. Blackberry only has 1 main mail account. Help????! trying to access my mail on line...thanks [email protected]

Are you talking about your @mac.com email account?
If so, this isn't the right forum for your question - this is specifically about running your own mail server for your own domain.
That said, the answer is easy enough - http://mail.mac.com/ (you'll get redirected to the appropriate place).
If it's not .Mac you're asking about then there's no way anyone can answer without knowing the account you're trying to log into.
