Hello Mac People, I am trying to access iTunes from a different User Account on my MacBookPro but i am not able to get access to it. I was trying to change a song in a keynote presentation and discovered that i was not able to change the song from that "Guest User" account. So i had to go back into my main account open up keynote there, change the song and then i could continue with it in the new system. It seems a permission issue with iTunes on a different user account (i am talking about like in System Preferences>Systems>Users and Groups - where you create additional users on your mac)??? Thoughts? Thanks.

Here are the answers to your questions:
1. Go to System Preferences>Users & Groups>Click on the plus sign on the lower left to add an account
2. Move your iTunes libary to the Shared folder which is located at Hard drive>Users>Shared
3. Point iTunes to the new location with iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Change media location

I deleted two user accounts from my MacBook Pro to create a third user account to consolidate all my duplicate files. Now my Mac won't download from ITunes, nor re-load music from one of my deleted accounts.

I combined two user accounts on my MacBook Pro into a new, third, user account. The biggest account in terms of my I Tunes library, past purchases, etc., was preserved. The smaller deleted acount with about 40 I Tunes purchases needed to be "reloaded" into my "machine".
I went through the procress several times, meaning, "go to purchased", items not on this machine, etc, only to receive the same message of not having permission to download.
As well, I can't download new items form the ITuunes store.
Solutions anyone?

My computer is the same I've had for a year now. I didn't have a problem until I closed the two user accounts and consolidated into an admin account.
In my ITunes account it says I have "two computers authorized to play content". There's a "delete these authorized computers" function. I'm not hitting that button until I have to.
The help desk says to delete my downloads folder in ITunes and then re-download my previous purchases (I can't find a downloads file to delete) .or reload from Cloud. I don't have cloud on my Mac.

Sharing Music from different login accounts on a MacBook Pro

I just have a quick question. My wife sync's her iPhone to her account login on my MacBook Pro which is different from my login from startup. We share the computer but I got her, her own login so she could add and mess with the features she prefers. Anywho, I am curious if there is any way to share my music folder on my main admin user account on my MacBook Pro with her login account (we switch users, login and logout). Is this possible? Would make life a LOT easier. Hopefully this makes sense...we both just want to be able to sync the same music to our iPhones without having to backup all the music on my external harddrive and then load it onto her login account. I dont use Mobile Me.

Can my husband access my itunes library from his user account on our shared mac?

My husband and I share the use of our iMac and both sync to my itunes library. Because we both want to use the Cloud we've just set up a separate user account for my husband but I believe there is some way he can share my itunes library under his User Account. Can anyone tell me how to do this please? I've looked at the instructions to share the library with other devices that I may have but this doesn't seem to apply to sharing with my husband as he now has his own user a/c and he has his own Apple ID.

Adding music to iTunes from a different user account on the same computer

I have recently begun using a PowerMacG5 at my college and I imported some music, all from CDs into iTunes under my user account. Then I discovered that this Mac already had music in a different location under a different user account. How do I merge these two libraries together so that both have the same music, same library? Or is that impossible?

Hi, I just wanted a little help using the file sharing option. My wife and I had different users accounts on the same MacBook, but when I am trying to share my baby's picture from my documents folder for my wife to have the same picture, I can't find the way to do that; I am not been able to find my pictures on my wife's account. Is there any way that I could share a folder from my account and my wife to have the same files at the same time on her account?
I mean, something like the smart play list on the itunes?

You can't do that directly unless you change permissions on your whole Documents folder which is not a good idea. Your wife can see your Documents folder from her account by going to Users/yourusername/Documents. However, this folder has no read privileges for others except yourself by default so she won't be able to open it.
rather than changing permissions on your Documents folder, you can place the pictures you want to share in Public folder in your home directory or in Users/Shared folder.

Sharing iTunes library between different user accounts

I recently purchased my imac and made the leap from the PC world. I set up another user account aside from the general administrator and followed the steps of having itunes folder go to the users/shared folder in an effort to be able to share files between users. I am able to now share the library between users but find that when I load new songs onto one user I then need to go into the other user's account and manually copy the new songs from the shared folder into itunes.
Anyone know how I can have it so when I load songs into one users itunes they will automatically appear in library of the other user's itunes without having to take the step of copying/importing?
Also when I was downloading and importing over 4000 songs my imac had the transparent black box which informed me I needed to shut down my computer at least twice. Should I be concerned? I'm assuming this notice is very similar to the "blue screen of death" known in the PC world so that can't be good especially when I paid the extra $ for fully loaded imac.

This is indeed an excellent question. I am looking for what seems to be the exact same solution. I have two libraries, where the ratings, checks, and play counts are included in the itunes xml library files. I have found that using synchronization software only compares documents and replaces one with the other. If I modify one computer (in terms of collections, ratings, or play counts), and then don't synchronize before modifying the other computer, then my libraries do not match.
If there were a quick solution to compare and merge libraries, then I would not have to re-synchronize libraries each time I switch computers (assuming I'm not adding/changing mp3 file structure).
I suppose there could be a very long-winded applescript to do this, but I'm not familiar with scripting, nor interested. Any help?

Move the data you want to share to the hard drive level Users/Shared folder and she will be able to access them. You may have to do a Get Info (command - I) on the folder and add her with read/write permissions, then select the gear at the bottom and Apply to enclosed items.
