Can i access my sync while on holiday without destroying the data
im on holiday with a new laptop but would like to access my sync'd data , when i set up my sync account i had to use a pass phrase but this is all changed now to a encrypted key ( which i cant get cause im on holiday ) if i get a new key will it really delete all my passwords and favs ? surely that does away with the point of having a sync system ?
The old Pass Phrase scheme was replaced by the Sync Key in mid-December 2010, like 11 months ago. ''(In Firefox 9 the name is being changed to Recovery Key. The format of the encryption "key" is not being changed - just the name in the UI.)'' Each Sync account was automatically transitioned to the new Sync Key during the first Sync after the changes was made.

Sorry, if you change your Sync Key all your data on the server will be erased. You should have setup Sync in that new laptop before you left home, while you had access to the device which was connected to Sync.
As far as the "point" of Firefox Sync, the way I see it the system is set up to synchronize your personal data as that data changes, and the next time you use a different device which is connected to that Sync account, the changes will be sent to that "different device". And changes made on that "different device" will be sent to the Sync server as changes happen there. Firefox Sync is not meant as a "backup device" or for long term storage of data or for giving the user access to that data from a web interface on a device that can't connect to the Sync service. Features like that may come along in the future.

Hi there. I have an iphone 4, which is currently synced with itunes on my laptop. I also have an ipad 2 which is currently synced with a more powerful and storage capable home computer. I would like to know if there is a way to sync my iphone 4 with my home computer, without losing my messages, apps, and other info. I am using Windows 7 on both machines. I synchronize my contacts and calendars across multiple computers (and iPhones) via iCloud, but all of the devices end up with the same versions.
I don't want our different mail accounts synchronized between computers, so I don't sync that with iCloud, but you can (I don't recommend it with your work computer).
You should be able to sync the music with iCloud.
Give it a try and see if that works for you. -

See this tip if you must go newer. Mac Pros with newer hardware configuration than July 20, 2011 can't use Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier without this tip and then it would be Mac OS X Server. I'm not sure if the new black Mac Pro supports that configuration or not.
iPhoto, there is an iPhoto for all versions of Mac OS X.
iTunes, there is an iTunes for all versions of Mac OS X. Note with iTunes versions 11 and later, which are needed for syncing with iOS 7 or or later, you will lose coverflow, if you liked that feature. Sadly you can't run an older version of iTunes from within Mac OS X 10.9 or later.

How can I access documents on a frozen Pages app? The Pages app on my IPAD does not function after the IPAD was backed up on the ICloud, and then restored. I synced the IPAD, but this did not solve the problem. Other apps are working, just not Pages. Please help! These docs are badly needed for work. Thanks so much!
Have you tried closing the Pages app completely and seeing if it works ok when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Pages 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Pages app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
How can I access my music library from a laptop on the road, as if my PC is not active? I tunes is installed on both PC and Home Sharing is enabled on both devices.
The key constraint for Home Sharing in this context is that both PCs need to be on the same wifi network. So once you get out of range of the wifi network covering your home PC, the laptop is not going to be able to Home Share.
Have you considered importing your iTunes music to the laptop? Then you could listen to a local copy of the music on the laptop while you're on the road. (You can do the import via home sharing when both computers are on the same wifi network.) -
Downloaded the newest version of itunes and now I can't access any of my library. It says The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Anybody know what to do?????

Did you set up restrictions for changing account info in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again to edit your mail account info.

I think you have to have the files on your HD. So either put them in iPhoto or copy them to a folder in Finder, and from there you can upload to Facebook.

While your iPhone is synching in iTunes, do the following:
1. Click on your iPhone's icon on the left.
2. Find and click on the "Tones" tab on the upper right of the iTunes display.

Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I reinstalled my OS and now it wants to empty my phone. How can I get it to back up my phone without removing the data?
You can't. But if you backed up your computer prior to wiping it out, you should be able to restore your iTunes library, contacts, photos, etc. from that backup. Once you do, you can set the phone up again and just sync everything from your library back to it.
If you didn't back the computer up either, you can transfer items purchased on the phone into iTunes, and if you set up at least one contact in whatever application you sync your contacts to on the computer, it will offer to merge the address books on the first sync, saving those. Any media you'd acquired from sources other than the iTunes store will have to be re-downloaded from the source or re-ripped.
The iPhone is NOT a backup device. -
My iPhone, iPad and iPod are all associated with the same Apple ID. How can I remove the iPod and associate it with a new Apple ID without affecting the data on the other devices (note: there is no data on the iPod I want to keep)?
Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.
