Can I add a iMac G5 screen to my iMac Intel for Dual screening?

I have a new iMac Intel 27" system and it replaced a iMac G5 system. I want to add a second screen to my mac so that I can multi task as I work. Is it possible to use the G5 screen to do this?
If not, what is my best option? Thanks

I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.

Mac book pro verses iMac (intel) for streaming video (skpying) which one would you recommend?

Neither one is particularly advantageous. Streaming video will take a considerable amount of power, meaning you'll probably want to keep a MBP's power adapter connected.

I just bought iMac Intel Core2Duo 24"
3.06GHz/ 2GB Ram/ 750GB HD/ 512 VRAM.
How can I improve or maximize its performance so it would run faster in FCP for Renders, Motion, Compressor and other pro apps?
I do understand that I need to add memory and that I'll add but aside from that,
what else do I need to do to make it faster?

Just keep in mind that read/write speeds to an external USB drive are less than half of what you are getting internally. Your best bet for an external editing drive would be FireWire 800.

I have an iMac 17" that works great is in great shape, just had a 500 gb hard drive installed...realized that I could not install the new Lion because I had an intel core duo processor and not an intel core 2 duo processor. I don't have the money to buy a new iMac...is there anyway to upgrade the processor?

Is this a downgrade? I have a problem with the expandability of the iMac, I've grown weary of it. I like the all-in-one design, room for it, but no room to put stuff in it. For FCP, the iMac's been doing a pretty good job, but I want to be able to put extra internal drives in, etc. Either direction I go, I'll end up replacing the computer in a year or 2.

Better video card
Cons: no way to add a second internal hard drive or second firewire bus
G4:
Internal expansion for hard drives
Can upgrade the video card

It's your call. It depends on what you intend to do with the iMac or the G4.
Unlike everybody else, for video editing, I prefer an expandable cpu

Gestetner Aficio CS225 on iMac Intel 2Ghz Dual Core, OSX 10.4.10

Could anyone help me to setup this multifunction printer on a new iMac Intel?
I've downloaded from Gestetner site the latest ppd (y. 2002, vers. 1.1), and put it into Library/Printers/PPDS/Contents/REsources/en.lproj but when trying to add a new printer in Print Center I can't match the right ppd, only a generic postscript printer. But this generic ppd doesn't dupport A3 paper format.
Could anybody suggest a solution?

I'm not at all familiar with that printer, but here are some observations.

On the Gestetner Driver Download Page, under Color Multifunctional, there are two versions listed for the C5225, v1.0 & v1.1, both with dates of 1999.
But if you notice, no matter which you choose, you can only get a download for v1.0.
The URL/Links listed below, are different, but they both lead to v1.0, when you select Mac OS X.

But whichever one you need, I think you must install it.

Can't add page to Home screen because an error occurred

I finally had a moment to upgrade to 1.1.3, and everything works great, except for web clips, which is the one thing I really wanted to do! I go to a web page, click the plus sign, and choose "Add to Home Screen". It shows the icon for the page and lets me change the name. Then when I click "add", I get the following error message:
"Could not add this page to the Home screen because an error occurred."
This happens so far on any site I try it on, whether or not the site has a pre-made iPhone icon. I have already tried restoring my phone with no luck. Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for the tips. I tried all that with no luck. I then proceeded to erase all settings. No luck there. I decided to go extreme, and delete all content and settings. Still doesn't work!
This seems like such a dumb thing, but it's still happening after two restores, clearing cache, resetting settings, and erasing all data! The only other thing I can think would be to restore the iPhone without bringing info from backup, but that would mean re-entering EVERYTHING. I'll try it I suppose, unless someone else knows a way around this.

How can I put my iMac intel core 2 duo in 64bit mode

I have an iMac model 7.1 that has an Intel core 2 duo so shouldn't I be able to make it run in 64 bit mode? How? I am in 10.6.8 and it locks too often to be used. I tried the Terminal sudo systemsetup -setkernalbootarchitecture x86_64 but the Terminal said it wasn't a valid command, what can II do to get back to work and not have to buy a PC?

Hi Mike, my head exploded too around page 50. I had bought a used iMac from an official Apple reseller here in Holland. It had an old 250GB HD that was 2/3 full, I had to get my Apple software Logic pro 9 into the iMac, I had, in 10.5 been doing that by booting from an external 1TB HD. Many developers won't allow downloads to external HD's,music software developers I meant. SO the external was a working solution until Jobs died and the company changed policies. The Fire Wire which Jobs had gotten started was working beautifully and since I have many "music Sample libraries" which must be able to throw into a song whatever I tell Logic to use, it worked much better having the libraries on external HD's[all Fire Wire 1TB] so they could effortlessly stream the music samples into logic SIMULTANEOUSLY, since Snow Leopard they have all been trying to stream from the same single external boot HD and that doesn't work well in Logic Pro. I was getting the locked screen that almost everyone on these 77 pages[you are late to this but the original thread had reached 77 pages when I found it] was complaining about, I decided[no idea why] to try booting from the internal HD, even though it doesn't contain the music software I use for work. It boots fine and shows no signs of locked screen or crazy graphics, but I can't do my job from a 250GB internal HD. I am going to the Apple store today to ask the price of installing a new 1TB internal Hd and more RAMM, 4GB's in music streaming is a bit wimpy,and a nephew of mine wrote to me with a link to OWC and said look you can now buy two 3GB sticks of SDRAMM that will work in your old iMac, so that would settle the problems of a 4GB RAMM limit. I don't have the time or money to buy and set up a new mac with only one FW800 port,I can't just replace 4 1TB external HD's with new USB 3's, so having this old girl upgraded would be the only solution for me. I am glad to hear you can boot SL from an external, there must have been something else that was causing the problems but I have to work and ******* around with a locked up screen means no income. This iMac has a core 2 duo, not a core duo, kbHT3696, yes I just checked thats the right number, I posted a wrong number before,sorry, although searching the topic here would get you to that article which explains that my core 2 duo can be 64 bit,I even held down the 64 keys when booting this morning to see if it really was a core 2 duo and it worked,I am in 64 bit,but when I attached the external with the music software the screen locked again making me hold in the start button to shut it down,there is something there SL doesn't like but I have no time to mess with what SNow Leopard wants,it is supposed to be working for me,not the other way around,all clear now?

Can I add an extra lower quality music library to iTunes for iPhone syncin?

I currently have my whole iTunes library in Apple Lossless format as I like the high quality for my AppleTV and don't mind the extra HD space it takes up. However, it means that the files are really too big for the limited 8GB capacity of my new iPhone.
Question - can I set up a seperate area/seperate Music Library/seperate folder (whatever), where I can duplicate my entire current iTunes Music Library at a lower quality setting, specifically for use when syncing to my iPhone?
1. How would I duplicate to a lower quality?
2. How do I set up a seperate area for these lower quality files that will sync to iPhone?
3. Could I automate the CD ripping process so that it placed a file in each of the seperate areas (big ask that one)?

1. Go to iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Importing
Select Import using <AAC encoder> Setting <Custom>
Select the music you want to duplicate and add it to a playlist so its easier to find
Select all music to duplicate again right click and select Convert Selection to AAC
2. Close iTunes. Open iTunes holding the option key
It will ask you if you want to create a new library or open an existing one. Select create library
Add the new lower quality songs to the library
You can add the original songs first to this new library >>> then convert >>> and after the conversion remove the original songs from the library(just from the library do not move them to trash)
You can also just create a new playlist with the lower quality songs but then you would have duplicates in your library
3 You would have to import the songs from the CD twice
a. Once in the good quality library(by changing the import settings back from the low quality)
b. Then open the new library change the import settings and import again
An easy way to find the newly created files is adding a new smart playlist with the rules:
Playlist is Music
Limit to <how many songs you are duplicating> <items> selected by <most recently added>

Can I add a 2nd iPhone number to my Apple ID for iMessages?

I have 2 iPhones and 1 Apple ID. On both my iMac and MBP (both using Mountain Lion), only 1 number shows up and it's my wife's number. This isn't even the number I have assiciated with my Apple ID. When I try using Messages, on either computer, to send her a text, she gets the message from her and I see both what I sent and then a second later it pops up a second time since it thinks I'm sending from her number. When I go into Setting > Accounts, it shows my email and her number.
How do I fix this?

Can't add numbers greater than 100 in the Data Editor for a column chart

I'm trying to create a column chart in Keynote '09 but every time I add a data point with a value greater than 100 in the Data Editor it turns the number into a date. I have the Y Axis set to "Number" and it works fine for numbers less than 100 but I want to show a graph that goes from 0 - 1000. Is this happening to anyone else?
Chart Settings:
Y Axis Options:
- Max = 1000
- Steps = 5
- Format = Number
X Axis Options
- Show Axis
- Show Categories
- No Tick Marks

No, it's not happening for me. This is what I'm doing
1) Insert -> Chart -> Column
2) In the Data editor, for 2007, I enter 110.
The chart automatically expands to 110 (because, by default, it's set to autosize the Y-axis)
Does this work for you? If it does, then we can look at why it doesn't work when you add parameters.

Can my early 2008 iMac (intel) take a wireless keyboard?

Sorry for the ignorance, here, but my iMac's keyboard has just gone up the spout. I like the idea of a wireless one, but I don't know whether this iMac can take one
